"There's rosemary, that's for remembrance, pray you, love, remember. And there's pansies, that's for thoughts…." Donna stares at her lines, questioning why after all of these years of playing the same part in Hamlet, yet she can't seem to focus on what she's doing. There is something that keeps distracting her from the courtyard that is directly outside of her window. Someone is outside, reading on the bench, something that looks like one of Shakespeare's sonnets. That is specifically what is taking her attention away from her own work: Donna wants to know who this person is that also enjoys reading Shakespeare.
"I should just go down there and introduce myself. Maybe they could help me with my lines." Donna realizes she has nothing to lose: making friends was one of her best qualities. From a young age, Donna has been an extrovert. Anytime people seemed to have a similar interest with her, she immediately wanted to become friends with them. This is how she became friends with Rachel so quickly. Donna quickly put on her favorite pair of tennis shoes and headed out the door. Well, I am either going to make a new friend or I am going to get a good run in. Either way, I really need to walk off my line issue.
As Donna approached the stranger on the bench, she became more interested in who was sitting there rather than their book. He seemed close to her age, I swear he better not be a freshman. I can't do that again. His hair seemed to be a bit shaggy and his smile, the smile that made Donna stop in her tracks before she approached. Ummmm, maybe I should go for that run instead. And so she did: Donna decided that running away from this boy would probably be for the better. As she jogged around campus, admiring the beautiful autumn day, she realized that she needed to go introduce herself to the stranger on the bench. Who knows, he could play my love interest one day.
Donna made it back to the bench and the stranger was gone. Well, that is unfortunate. As she opened up her phone she saw that she had several texts from Rachel. That's when she noticed the time and realized that she missed the study session she had scheduled with some of her classmates. She quickly texted an apology to Rachel, telling her that she wasn't paying attention to the time and would make it up to her tomorrow. As she turned off her phone, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Donna acted upon instinct and twelve years of jiu jitsu, turned around, ready to defend herself against her attacker. As she was preparing to arm lock this person, she realized that it was the stranger on the bench.
"I am so sorry, but you should know never to sneak up on someone. Especially a woman on a college campus." Donna gave him a flirty smile, trying to help him lower his guard and realize that she isn't psychotic.
"It's fine, I really should know better. But, I noticed you approaching me earlier and I knew that I had to come and find you."
"Straight forward, I like that. My name is Donna."
"Hello, Donna. I am Thomas."
