Chapter 4- The Barbeque
"You have enough faith for both of us babe" he stated.
She giggled and smiled, "be careful. Gracie and I need you in one piece" she said.
He smirked; he knew she would figure out what they were up to.
"I promise I am not going anywhere. You are stuck with me" he teased.
She smiled, "I hope so" she replied snuggling deeper into him.
It didn't take long for her to fall asleep.
Abel lay awake, his arms wrapped around Mia, just thinking over everything.
He was glad that she had a good time. She needed to let loose a little.
He just didn't know how he was going to get his family back, but this conversation gave him hope.
He knew he had a chance after this.
Once Abel was able to settle and relax, he let her scent overwhelm him and fell asleep.
It was a good end to the girl's day/night.
The next morning, Jax and Chloe brought Gracie to the clubhouse so he could get some work done.
Even though Abel was stepping up as President of the club, Jax was still tying things up in the background.
"Grandpa, can I go wake up mama and daddy?" she asked.
Jax looked around and saw that only a few Nomads were up and moving around.
"Yeah babydoll, go ahead. Come to the office if Abel doesn't wake up, okay. We'll get the prospect to make breakfast" he said catching as she ran off to her dad's room.
She ran through the clubhouse to her dad's room.
She didn't even knock, she just barged in to see her parents still sleeping.
She walked over to Abel's side of the bed.
Gracie shook his shoulder to wake him up.
Abel peeked an eye open, looking blearily at his daughter standing at the side of the bed smiling at him.
"Hi daddy" she greeted.
Abel smiled and stretched, wiping his eyes.
He looked over and saw Mia still asleep.
Carefully untangling from under her arms, he swung to the side of the bed.
Picking up his daughter, he kissed her cheek.
"Who let you in here babe?" he asked as they walked out.
"Grandpa" she replied.
"Okay Angel Cakes, come on, let's go get some breakfast" he walked to the bathroom to get some Advil and some water for Mia.
Leaving the pills and bottle of water on the nightstand.
In the common room, Abel sat his daughter down at the kitchen table and took out some eggs and bacon.
He gave her some juice before making breakfast and listening to her night.
"So, babe, what did you do with Grandpa and Grandma?" he asked.
Gracie went over everything she did with Jax and Chloe. She went through everything that they did together.
He just smiled as she went over everything she did.
"What are we doing today daddy?" she asked.
He put the plates down for both of them.
"I'm not sure babe. I think it's going to be hot today so maybe a bbq by the pool later" he suggested.
"Yeah, that's a good idea daddy. Can Andy come over and swim with me?" she asked.
He looked up from his eggs and gulped some juice.
"Whose Andy?" he replied.
Mia was the one who knew all of Gracie's friends.
This was the first time he heard of Andy.
Gracie's eyes lit up as she ate her eggs.
"He's my new friend daddy. He is new at school. We played at recess with Valerie" she explained completely oblivious to her dad glaring at the idea of hanging out and being friends with a boy.
"We'll ask your mom when she wakes up. For now, just finish your breakfast. You can be my secretary when we finish" he stated.
Jax laughed and shook his head as he walked in the kitchen and helped himself to some coffee, listening to his granddaughter tell her dad about a boy.
Jax took a seat next to his granddaughter, drinking his coffee, smirking at his son.
"I told you this was going to happen. This is karma coming back to bite you" he said to his son.
Abel glared at his dad as he finished up his breakfast.
"She's in fucking kindergarten" he vented, "it's not funny. Wha the hell is she hanging out with boys for?" he added as he refilled his coffee.
Jax patted his son on the back. He felt his pain.
It was a good thing he didn't have any daughters. He thanked God everyday for Jax and Tommy.
"They are young. Just friends Abel. They are kindergarten for fucks sake. Nothing is happening" Jax tried to reassure his son.
Abel put his plate in the sink and wiped a hand over his face.
He was too fucking young for this shit.
Before he could reply, Grace got up and put her plate in the sink.
"I'll meet you in the office Daddy" she said before she ran off.
The guys smiled as they saw Gracie running through the club to her dad's office.
She loved working with her dad and grandpa in any capacity.
When Abel was expanding the club, he set up a little desk for her next to Abel's in the corner of the office.
Usually, she did her homework, but she didn't have anything to do, she took out some coloring pages that were in the drawer with her markers and colored pencils.
She kept herself occupied, coloring when Abel walked in and got to work.
He needed to make a few phone calls and make sure their businesses were doing okay.
In the back room, in Abel's suite, Mia groaned when she woke up.
Stretching her arms out, she noticed that she was alone.
The sheets were cold, so Mia knew that he was gone for a while.
Leaning up on her elbow, she saw the Advil and water on the nightstand.
Taking the pills, she flipped her hair away from her face, throwing it up in a messy bun.
After she finished washing her face and brushing her teeth, she felt more like a human.
She grabbed some shorts from Abel and made her way out of the room.
In the common room, she saw that the guys were starting to wake up more.
She made herself some tea and rested against the counter.
"Morning Doc" Ryder greeted.
She smiled and nodded at him.
"Good morning" she replied.
While he got himself something to eat, he kept glancing at Mia.
"Hey, can I ask you something doc?" he asked nervously.
She looked up at him as she made her tea nodding. "Yeah, everything okay?" she replied.
The guys were always coming up to her with their medical issues and concerns.
She had a lot of secrets that were safe because of doctor/patient confidentiality.
"Uh, well, my sister is having some female issues, but she doesn't want to see a doctor" he explained.
Mia nodded in understanding.
She knew what he was trying to say.
"Say no more, I am doing clinicals and office hours Monday. Have her come see me and we'll figure out what's going on" she said.
He nodded in gratitude.
She was going to take care of it.
He didn't need to worry; she would take care of his sister.
Ryder sagged in relief. "Thanks Mia" he said before walking out for a smoke.
She smiled and walked through the clubhouse with her tea towards the offices, to hear her daughter's laughter.
Following the sound, she stopped in the doorway of the office and listened to Abel and Gracie go back and forth.
Gracie was on her toy phone.
"Daddy, Uncle Tyler is calling" she said.
Abel looked up from his desk.
He smiled, "can you take a message babe? I am still busy" he replied.
He watched as she had a conversation with herself and took some notes.
As she hung up the phone, she looked up from her notepad to see her mom standing in the doorway.
"Hi Mama" she ran from behind the desk and hugged her mom's legs.
Mia smiled and crouched down so she could wrap her arms around her daughter.
"Hi Princess, did you have fun with Grandma and Grandpa?" she asked.
Mia walked in the office and made herself comfortable on the couch as her daughter settled against her.
Gracie told her mom all about her night with Jax and Chloe.
It was cute to see her get all excited as she shared her story.
Mia perked up when she heard about the pool party and her new friend Andy.
Abel met her gaze over his paperwork, looking for her reaction.
"Pool Party huh? We can do that baby girl. A pool day sounds great" Mia stated.
She was looking forward to a chill day by the pool.
"Can Andy come?" she asked looking up at her mom.
Mia met Abel's gaze and smirked at the look on his face.
She knew this was going to happen eventually.
"I'll call his mom and see if he can come" she said.
"His mommy is in heaven. He lives with his brother" Gracie explained.
Mia nodded and took in the information.
"I will pick up some burgers, hot dogs, veggies, and stuff for the BBQ. We can all just grill and hang out by the pool" she said.
Abel nodded, "I'll be by early to start up everything" he replied.
It was going to be fun to hang out with his family by the pool.
She nodded and pulled her daughter on her lap so Gracie could rest on her mom's chest as Mia ran her fingers through her daughter's hair.
"You ready to go home babe?" Mia asked Gracie.
Grace nodded as she crawled out of her mom's lap.
"Go get your stuff from the back" Mia said.
Gracie nodded and ran out of the office, calling for Jax to grab her bags.
While she was out of the office, grabbing her things, Mia turned her attention to Abel.
She didn't know how to bring up the topic of last night and what happened.
"So, what was that last night?" he asked.
She blushed bright red and sat up, playing with her hair.
"We were playing truth or dare and that was my dare. We are going through something. I don't know what it is or how we are going to get through it, but we will" she said as she got up and started picking up after Gracie.
She started cleaning up the papers and colored pencils, trying to figure out what to say and how to react.
Abel got up and came to stand behind her.
He pressed as close to her as he could without touching her. He watched her tense, which caused him to smirk.
Abel shifted, so his lips grazed her ear.
Mia felt her eyes flutter closed and relax back into him, tilted her head to give him more access.
He felt her relax and sag into him.
"Okay Princess, we go at your pace" he said against her ear.
Mia almost moaned at the feeling of his lips on her skin.
It took her a minute before she realized he backed off.
She turned to see him smirking.
Mia just blushed and shook her head.
She just walked away, causing Abel to follow her with a smirk.
Gracie was waiting for her parents by the picnic tables with Creed and Jordan.
"Hey Little Miss, let's go" Mia called, trying to ignore the looks from the boys.
As she got the car packed up and got Grace settled, the boys came over, gathered around each other.
"That was a good show last night huh Jordan?" Creed teased.
The other Nomad smirked, "you know it ended before it could get really dirty" he added.
Once Mia got Gracie settled, she turned and slapped their stomachs.
"You two assholes" she reprimanded.
They just threw their heads back laughing.
"You love us" Creed said wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"God knows why, but I do" she teased, "you coming over later for the barbeque?" she added.
Jordan snorted "if there is food, he'll be there. You know that" he teased Creed.
She giggled and shook her head, "okay, I'll see you guys later. When you see the girls, send them my way" she said as she got in the car.
The guys watched and waited until she was out of sight before making their way back to the clubhouse.
"We are going to meet up with Alvarez. We'll run the route between the abandoned warehouse and mountain white" Creed said to Abel as he walked by the bikes.
Abel nodded, "we need to figure out who the new supplier is" he said.
"We kept our eyes to the ground. The warehouse is a clear path to the nationalist headquarters. We already ruled Darby out, so we'll rule out everyone else" Creed replied completely seriously.
It is why he was as scary as Happy sometimes.
When he got down to business, he was serious.
Now, more so, because it affects Mia and Gracie.
"I know, I am just saying, be careful" he watched as Creed and Jordan got on their bikes and rolled out.
They were going to run the path to Mt. White and check out the abandoned warehouse outside of town before meeting up with some Nomads from New York.
He had a stack of paperwork as tall as Gracie on his desk.
Mia got home and immediately went to work.
Gracie helped her mom clean the house and cook.
Mia wanted to get everything ready for the BBQ.
She made some cold dishes, drink mixes, and desserts before heading to the store.
They got some steaks, burgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, dips, chips…and everything they would need for a barbeque.
Mia was seasoning the steaks when Leah walked in.
"Mims" she called.
"Hey, I'm in the kitchen" Mia replied laughing when she saw her sister walk in.
She looked half dead when she came in the kitchen and plopped down at the Island.
"You look horrible" Mia laughed, handing Leah a glass of water.
"I feel horrible. What's going on? What are we doing?" she asked.
Mia waved the knife around the kitchen.
"Pool party" she replied.
Leah nodded and got up, chugging the water.
"I'll make the vegetable tray" she said as she pulled her hair up and out of her face.
"What happened with Abel this morning?" Leah asked.
The girls knew that Mia spent the night with Abel, and they were excited for her.
Mia sighed and packed up the meat to marinate.
"It was awkward, but we just played it off. But I mean seriously, I want him so bad Leah. I don't know how much more I can take" she vented for the first time ever.
Leah glanced at her from her spot across the counter and pulled up her sunglasses to rest atop her head.
"Why don't you? I think you should just go for it. At least once. I know for sure he wants too" she replied.
Mia nodded. "I'll think about it" she said.
Leah shook her head as she stopped shopping.
"No, that's your problem. Don't think. Just act. We can start now. Say it" she advised her friend.
Mia sighed, "I hate you" she teased.
Leha laughed, "I love you too, now say it" she pushed her.
Mia was really quiet and shy when it came to her needs.
She was a nurturer by nature. She put everyone's needs before her own and that needed to change.
"Fine" Mia said before she took a breath.
"I want Abel to fuck me senseless" she blurted out.
Leah smiled and walked over, wrapped her arm around her friend's shoulders.
"See, didn't that feel good?" she asked.
Mia laughed, "come on, we need to get these done" she nudged her back to her part of the counter.
Abel stood at the back door listening to their conversation.
He couldn't help but smirk.
She wanted him.
Before they could say anything else, he knocked and walked in with the bags she requested.
"Ladies, I brought the meat, drinks and ice" he put them on the counter.
Leah took the drinks and moved to set them up on the table outside in the back.
Mia took the meat and started seasoning it and preparing it while Abel got the grill ready.
It took a few minutes for Abel to finish prepping the grill, before he popped his head in the patio door, "ready for me?" he asked.
Mia and Leah scoffed, "aahem, loaded question, ahem" Leah mumbled pretending to cough.
Mia shoved her best friend while handing Abel the container of meat.
"Where's my Angel?" he asked.
She then pulled out containers of vegetables to grill.
"She's upstairs getting ready for the pool party and her friend to come over" she replied.
"Jesus" he exclaimed, taking the vegetables to grill.
Abel helped himself to some beer from the outside cooler and started grilling the vegetables.
It wasn't long before Mia brought out some shrimp skewers.
"Damn Mia, I think we have enough" he reassured her.
She hit is shoulder. "I just want to make sure that everyone has options" she replied.
He scoffed, "Mia, if we keep feeding them, then they will never leave" he stated.
She threw her head back laughing, "shut up. They are our family" she explained.
"Is Gracie's friend coming?" he asked after a minute.
Mia smiled as she set up the patio and started putting out snack food on the table.
She set up the munchies on the table with the plates and silverware.
"Yeah, you are never going to believe what his family background is" she teased.
He looked at her curiously, quirking an eyebrow at her.
"What are you talking about Mia?" he asked.
Mia walked over and leant against the doorframe.
"Do you remember the group from up north that rolled down last year, the Devil's Angels?" she replied.
Abel tensed, giving her a knowing look.
"Don't tell me they are Devil's Angels?" he exclaimed.
Mia let out a little laugh, nodding.
"Yeah, the President is Gracie's friend Andy's brother" she informed him.
Abel shook his head with a smirk.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" he sighed.
"Of course, my daughter found the fucking prince of the Devil's Angels" he added.
Mia giggled and patted his back.
"Don't worry. You'll get to meet him later" she teased.
Abel wacked her ass with the towel as she went inside, her laughter following her inside the house.
Leah was wrapping up the salads and putting them in the fridge before she moved onto another dish.
Mia started setting up the tables and the inside buffet with the cold and side dishes.
There was a lot of food, but Mia knew it would go to good use. It wasn't going to go to waste.
It wasn't long before the guys started rolling through.
Tommy, Mac, Joey, and Peter came first.
"Hey Gorgeous" Tommy wrapped his arms around Leah's waist.
He kissed and nuzzled her neck.
She smiled and tilted her head to give him more access.
"Feel better today?" he asked.
She nodded and nuzzled into him. "Yeah, my sister fed me, so that helped. You okay?" she replied.
He nodded, "I'm good babe. I'm glad you are feeling okay. Alright, I'll go out and help Abel with the grilling" he said moving to greet Mia with a kiss on the cheek.
"Here, take these out. The rest of the guys should be here soon" she said pushing him out with a container of asparagus as the guys followed.
Tommy slapped his brother's back as he started up the second grill.
While Abel and Tommy were grilling the meat, vegetables, asparagus, and potatoes, the guys started showing up more as the girls put the food on the table outside.
Jax and Chloe came in with Gracie following them with a big smile on her face.
She bounded straight to her mom when she saw her.
"Hi Mama" she called as Mia smiled and squeezed her in a hug.
"Hi baby girl, ready to party?" she asked.
Gracie nodded and wrapped her arms around her mom's neck.
She was excited for her friend to come over and for them to party.
"I am excited for Andy to come" Gracie said.
Mia nodded, "good, I am glad. He should be there soon" she replied.
Gracie went around to greet the guys, and ultimately settled with her Grandpa Jax on the patio.
Mia stood on the patio deck, an iced tea in her hand, and looked over the back yard.
She loved being around her family.
She was happy, she made the decision to come back to her family and be in Charming surrounded by the club.
Abel walked over and nudged his hip against Mia's.
He dished out the food and looked around to see where Mia was and found her standing on the side of the deck just watching everyone.
He grabbed a beer and walked over.
Nudging her hip, smiling when she napped out of her trance.
She looked over to find Abel watching her.
"Hey" she greeted.
He smiled and gave her a meaningful look.
"You okay babe?" he asked.
She nodded and wiped away her tears.
Smiling up at him, she took a sip of her wine cooler.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just happy. Our daughter is happy, we are working towards being happy with each other. It's just overall good right now" she said nodding towards their daughter as she played in the pool with Creed and Jordan.
He smiled at her assessment; his eyes brightened at the mention of his daughter.
Abel was forever grateful to have the opportunity to be in Gracie's life and work it out with Mia.
"You know with her 6th birthday coming up, I have been thinking about the past and what happened. I realized that I never got to say thank you for letting me be in her life" he said.
She snapped her gaze up at him with tears at hearing him say that.
She took the first step and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
"We are going to be okay" he said, pulling her face back, pressing a kiss to the corner of her mouth.
Jax and Chloe were sitting at the picnic table, watching Abel and Mia.
They gave each other knowing looks with smiles when they saw their two kids embrace and kiss.
"You think they will be okay? You think they'll get through this Princess?" Jax asked his wife.
Chloe nodded as she played with the hair at the nape of his neck.
"They are going to be fine. They have made it through worse than this and pulled through. They are just going to need a little help" she replied.
Jax nodded as they continued to watch their kids.
Abel was still wrapped around Mia when they heard bikes pull up.
Mia pulled away and wiped her tears, looking up at Abel with a smirk.
"That's your future son-in-law" she said.
He just glared but before he could say anything, Gracie came barreling towards them, soaking wet.
"Mama, Daddy, Andy's here" she said.
Mia laughed at the look on Abel's face as she picked up her daughter and walked towards the front door.
"Well, let's go say hi" Mia said.
Abel followed behind them scoffing. He was not ready for this.
Mia opened the front door, freezing when she was met with a tall, dark, and handsome man standing there with a blinding smile on his face.
She didn't even notice the little boy standing in front of him.
He was gorgeous.
"Hey, I'm Nick and this is Andy" he squeezed the little boy's shoulders.
Before Mia could reply, she heard her daughter squeal and reach forward to give Andy a hug.
"Andy, you came!" she squealed before turning to her mom.
"Can we go play in the pool mama?" she asked.
Mia nodded, "go ahead" she moved to let them through the house to the back.
Nick smiled at Mia and Abel, "Thanks for having him. I'll pick him up later" he said before calling to Andy, waving him over.
Andy ran back over to his brother, "be good okay buddy. Either me or Hawk will pick you up later okay. If you need, call me" he said.
Andy nodded and gave his brother a hug.
"We'll see you later. Please feel free to come early and enjoy the party" Mia said.
Nick's smile was dazzling, "thanks" he nodded at her.
When Nick left, Mia and Abel walked to the back yard, stopping at the patio watching Gracie and Andy play together in the pool.
"I am not ready for this" Abel sighed, wiping a hand over his face.
Mia laughed and patted Abel's back, "it'll be fine. They are going to be in the first grade" she reassured him that it was innocent.
Everyone was having a really great time.
It got a little chilly at night, but no one even noticed, because everyone loved hanging out.
The kids got out of the pool and ran up to the table.
"Okay, you guys ready to eat?" she asked.
Grace nodded and sat at the table with Andy.
Mia smiled at the two and went to make them some plates.
They sat at the picnic table and ate with each other.
They were so cute.
Everyone was watching them with smiles on their faces.
While everyone was eating, they heard bikes pull up.
Leah walked over and wrapped an arm around her friend.
"You okay? Whose here?" she asked.
Mia nodded and smirked at her sister. She knew exactly who was there.
"Yeah, that's Andy's gorgeous brother" she replied looking towards the entrance to the patio.
Nick walked in with his VP, stopping for a minute, then walking straight towards Mia, who he saw first.
"Hey, thanks for having Andy" he greeted.
She smiled and nodded.
"It's our pleasure. He was a true gentleman" she replied before turning to the new person.
"Hi, I'm Mia Teller" she put her hand out to his VP.
"Zak, nice to meet you" he shook her hand.
Abel came over when he saw them.
He introduced himself and greeted Nick and Zak.
With the friendship between his daughter and the prince of the Devil's Angel's, they had a new ally.
"Abel Teller, President of SAMCRO" he greeted.
"I'm Nick Johnson and this is Zak Crosswell, my VP" he introduced.
"It's ironic that my little brother and your daughter are friends. Imagine my surprise when Andy came home from school saying that Gracie Teller was his new best friend" Nick stated.
Able nodded with a smirk, "tell me about it" he replied.
"Let this be the start of a great friendship" Nick said.
As the guys started leaving, Chloe and Leah started helping Mia clean up a little and started packing up the food.
"So, are you going to do the thing we talked about?" her friend asked.
Mia blushed bright red and glared at her friend.
"Can we not talk about this right now?" Mia asked.
Chloe wrapped an arm around her daughter-in-law.
"You okay honey? Anything I can do?" she wanted to support her.
"It actually requires your son Chloe" Leah teased.
"OMG, shut up Lee" Mia covered her face with her hands.
Chloe nodded in understanding. She had been there before. She has been in Mia's situation before.
"It's okay honey. We have all been there" she started, "you'll get through it" she added.
"I'm scared to get hurt again" Mia confessed.
Leah grabbed her friend's hands.
"It's like Chloe said. We have all been there. The most important thing is that you can't close yourself off from love. You deserve to be loved and believe me; Abel loves you. Anyone with eyes can see that. Remember what Reaper always tells us, take risks because you never know what tomorrow brings" she pepped Mia up.
She needed her family's support.
Wiping her tears, she took some deep breaths to steal herself.
"Yeah, I can do this" she was hyping herself up.
When the family finished up, Mia got Grace changed and ready for bed.
"Goodnight Princess. I'll see you in the morning" she leant forward and kissed Gracie's forehead.
"Night Mama, I had a fun pool party" Gracie replied.
"Good baby, I'm glad you had fun. I'll see you tomorrow" she said.
Once her daughter was tucked in, she made her way to her room and changed into an oversized button up with some leggings before making her way back downstairs.
Everyone had left, leaving Abel and Mia by themselves.
"I'm gonna go shower" he said before making his way down the hall.
While he was showering upstairs, Mia was making herself some tea to calm her nerves.
She was waiting for the water to boil, prepping herself for her night with Abel.
