Digital Magic

Notes: This is a repost of a work I have on Ao3

TFW 3.0 must deal with the aftermath of Ken getting hit with a spell while on a witch hunt. Said spell causes Ken to switch place with himself of another timeline... The digimon kaiser. Now while his family works to get him back while dealing with this evil version that's taken his place. Ken begins working to undo the insane mess his alternate self has been causing in the digital world.

I decided to continue my what if crossover. You dont necessarily need to read it as i sprinkle explainations here and there throughout this. The main thing is I created an AU where Ken and his brother are adopted by Castiel and the Winchesters after their homes attacked by the supernatural. Thanks to the new digimon content out now, it rekindled my love for the fandom so decided to write more. Due to the nature of my AU Ken is a bit out of character since his life turn out very different. I kind of had him take a bit after Dean Winchester. But I did want to try to write a more in character Ken. So tada came up with this fiction. The inconsistencies with cursing come from again different upbringing lol. The og Ken is more proper and reserved, while the spn Ken tends to curse more and be impulsive thanks to his uncles.

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

The witch let out an angered scream. Furious that the "defenseless" children she'd captured for a sacrifice, turned out to be well trained hunters. She began chanting various incantations. Hurling spells at the two boys.

Daisuke managed to aim and shoot at the witch but not before she sent a blast at Ken, hitting him dead on. She screamed as the witches brewed bullet penetrated her body and she crumpled to the ground dead.

Daisuke rushed over to his friend. "KEN! Please tell me you're ok." He said, shaking the other boy. Ken stirred and came to. "Hey." He said with a soft smile. "You get her?" Daisuke nodded. "You good? What did she hit you with?" He asked. Ken shook his head. "Not sure. If it was a spell, I don't feel any different. Although, that could be because you killed her." "We should get you home, have your dad look you over. Daisuke helped Ken to his feet

When the boys made it to the bunker, they found that Castiel wasn't currently there. "Must have caught wind of another hunt." Ken said. Wormmon gave him a concerned look. Ken shook his head and smiled. "Trust me, I'm fine. If that witch had meant to do something the magic probably died with her. She probably was just throwing me off her." He tried his best to reassure the group.

"What if it's a gradual thing, like that memory spell that hit Dean once?" The digimon questioned. "Well we will cross that bridge when we get to it. If things get weird we can always give aunt Rowena a call too." Ken offered. "For now let's just relax from the trip. Movie night in Uncle Dean's man cave?" He suggested it to his friends. "Hell yeah!" Daisuke said as they headed to the room.

"So since we got a plan, are we telling your brother?" He asks hesitantly. Ken bit his lip. "He won't be happy we took a job by ourselves. Digimon or not, he knows we are still kids." Ken explained. "Hey kids were the perfect way to trick that witch. But...yeah, maybe we keep it hush unless something happens? Why worry everyone." Daisuke suggests. Both digimon follow their partners shaking their heads. They had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.

Ken woke with a start when he realized he wasn't in his room. Sure it was possible he fell asleep in Dean's movie room, however… the bunker may be dark, but not this dark. The walls were almost a blue colored metal. He slowly got up and moved to leave the room. He glanced at his dark blue pjs with gold trim. Definitely not the Metallica t shirt and sweatpants he went to bed in. Had he been kidnapped? From the bunker? Impossible.

"Maybe that witch DID do something." He whispered to himself. Just as he was about to try the door, it slid open and Wormmon entered carrying the oddest outfit Ken had ever seen. "Good morning Master. Did you sleep well?" Ken stared at his partner confused.

"Since when do you call me Master? And where the hell are we?" Ken questioned. Wormmon tilted his head. "You've commanded I call you that. And we are at your base of course. You just moved into the digital world. Perhaps you're not use to waking up here yet. " Wormmon answered. "My base? Did we start a men of letters chapter in the digital world?" Ken glanced around it did seem like a sci fi ish bunker.

"Whats that you're carrying buddy?" Ken kneeled down to his partner. Wormmon looked both confused and scared. There was also a small hopeful look in his eyes. Ken was acting so…nice?

After figuring out things were far from normal. For one Ken definitely would have remembered building a base and recruiting servants. Ken had Wormmon explain everything he remembered. From what Ken was able to piece together…the damn witch sent him to an alternate timeline. It had to be. For one thing, in this timeline it wasn't his parents he lost but…his brother.

Ken couldn't even imagine a life without Osamu. Ok well now he could as it stared him in the face. Apparently it really fucked up himself in this timeline, so he…became a dictator? Um that was a choice, he supposed. He filled Wormmon in about who he essentially was. Much to the poor digimon's disappointment that his Ken hadn't suddenly had a change of heart. Ken tried to reassure his alternate partner that if they had switched places, his family may knock some sense into his other self.

"OK so how do we disable all this shit?" Ken wondered aloud as he began messing with the keyboard of the main control room. "I wish I could tell you, but my Ken never let's me know what he's doing." Wormmon scurried up the panel to have a look as well. "If you are technically also Ken, do you have any idea how you would program something?" He inquired. Ken shook his head. "My brother and uncle are the researchers. They deal with all the tech in our home. Most of what I do with computers is light gaming and hanging out in the digital world with the others, occasionally using the gates as a speedway to get back and forth between America and Japan."

Ken sighed and leaned back in the chair clinking his shoulder armor against it in the process. "Ugh, ok this is coming off. Why do I wear this?" Ken unfastened his collar and removed his cape. Honestly, he only put the outfit on, so as not to be walking around in pajamas.

The kaiser woke slightly disoriented. Still adjusting to the lack of windows in the bedroom of his base. He did seem confused that a small lamp was on, giving the room a warm low light. He glanced round seeing brick walls covered in what appeared to be American pop culture. "What the heck, this isn't my room." He stated, annoyances rising more so than panic. "Stupid system must have glitch."

He made a move to get up only to bump against something, or one. "Why are you in my bed!" He yelled when he saw Wormmon. "Were else would I be Ken?" He asked, concerned about his partner's confused state. "I told you not to call me that!" The Kaiser shouted. "Call you what? Your damn name? Its too early for this." Wormmon retorted and attempted to go back to sleep. Normally Ken would have smacked the digimon for his disobedience however, his response caused Ken to be thrown aback. "Did…did you just curse at me?" He hissed. "Yes, that is typically how this family responds to being awoken rudely, now why are you so grumpy this morning?" Wormmon got up having given up on sleeping in.

"This family? You've never met my family." While Ken tried to keep up his authoritarian persona, he started to falter the more confusing things got. "We are literally home with them right now. Maybe that spell that hit you yesterday messed with your head." Wormmon said. "We should see if your dad is back and able to look you over." "How would my useless father be able to look at what you're saying is a head injury?" "Well aside from his healing powers he can use his angelic abilities to detect a spell effect."

Before Ken could do anything, Wormmon leaped his way across the room and out the door. Presumably to get Ken's father.

Begrudgingly the Kaiser rose to follow. He wanted answers to what the hell was going on. Since when had that insect become so disrespectful? As he got up, he caught a look at his cloths. Why was he wearing something so casual? The tshirt and sweatpants were not the regal pajamas he had in the digital world, or heck even the proper ones he wore at home. These looked like he just found something random to throw on. "This is humiliating." He mumbled and moved to get dressed. If there were other people here or his family as Wormmon claimed, like hell he wasn't going to be presentable.

He threw open the closet to try to find at least his school uniform, however he was met with flannel, lots and lots of flannel. Various plaid designs, various t-shirts, most featuring English bands. Various pairs of jeans. "The heck is all this!?" He rummaged through the closet to find something worthy of himself to put on, completely not noticing the door to his room open and someone step in.

"The hell is this about you getting whammied by a witch? And I'm just NOW hearing about this!" Ken froze, dropping the article of clothing he had grabbed. He knew that voice. Though it sounded different, lower…older. But he KNEW it. He glanced over at the newcomer. "Ww-what?" He barely whispered. His brother stood in the doorway, Wormmon perched upon his shoulder.

He gave Ken a hard stare. Ken however returned it with a concentrated one. Taking in the boy before him. He was taller now. He physically looked around 16, though there was a roughness to him. A haunted look about him that made him seem older. But it was without a doubt in Ken's mind…"Osamu?" He said quietly. There were a million emotions running through Ken at the moment. This seemed to convey through his expression. His brother softened and walked over.

"Look I just get worried. I can't lose you." He explained, placing his hands on Ken's shoulders. "Now, can you tell me what happened yesterday?" Ken couldn't figure out how to respond, honestly he didn't know. He didn't know what was happening now as he stared at his supposed dead brother. The moment was cut short as another person came crashing into the room.

"Don't be mad at Ken, it was my idea not to say anything!" Daisuke stumbled. "He seemed fine, so we thought it wasn't a big deal." Ken glared at the idiot before him. How dare he interrupt them. "What the hell are you doing here? How did you find me?!" He sneered. His eyes widened in horror as a thought struck him. "You and your infuriating team are responsible for this aren't you? You did something to the program!" Ken looked to his brother. He let out an angry growl and shoved Osamu. Before charging at Daisuke.

"What is he? A Bakemon? How DARE you use my brother's image against me!" "Holy shit! What the hell Ken!" Daisuke blocked Ken's attack and tried to get a restraint on him. "Don't call me that! I am the Digimon Kaiser!" Ken screamed. "Uh you're what now?" Daisuke asked before being cut off as Ken tackled him to the ground. With Ken distracted with Daisuke, Osamu got behind Ken and hooked his arms under Ken's in a restraining position.

"Shit this has got to be the spell." Osamu struggled and tightened his hold as Ken squirmed, kicked and screamed. In the fight Wormmon caught sight of Ken's plain arm. "His anti possession sigil is missing!" He called out.

Just as things were getting out of hand, two men charged into the room armed with guns. "Whats happening?" Dean demanded. "Ken's fucking possessed or something." Daisuke responded. "Son of a bitch. This is because of that damn witch hunt you went on yesterday isn't it?" Dean questioned. "Most likely. She blasted Ken with something before Daisuke killed her." Wormmon answered. "Well let's get him restrained and figure this out." Sam said. "You're not doing anything with me! Damn it! Osamu let go!" Ken yelled, still attempting to wrestle his way out of his brother's grip.
