Survival
Chapter Nine
Admiral Nelson just couldn't believe his luck for when it came to the Seaview were able to locate the wreckage of the flying sub. They were only thirty minutes from the location and hopefully with the divers to find the cavern for where Chief Sharkey and Kowalski had been staying for the duration. He had been on the phone with ONI, the White House, and other agencies regarding the Russian Kremlin.
It was going to be a touchy situation with the Russian President knowing for the fact that it was an ugly situation with the Captain having given the order to treat the English scientists with two of the women dead from mistreatment.
Nelson had to wait for the White House to get back to him with whatever decision was being made regarding the Russian submarine. As for Captain Lee Crane, it was mid-afternoon when the submarine had reached the location of the flying sub.
He asked for volunteers to search for Sharkey and Kowalski down inside the cavern. It would be Patterson, Ron, and Saunders new to the Seaview. He had transferred in from the San Francisco naval base after receiving the notice from the Nelson Institute.
Captain Lee Crane had walked into the aft missile room where the three were getting ready to rescue the two. He wanted to know whether the three divers were ready for the challenge of finding them.
Patterson will say the following to the captain. "Sir, we will be doing our best to find them." While checking on his air mask as with Ron and Saunders.
"Excellent, Patterson. We can't get ourselves into another international flack with the Russians. Even though the Whtie House will have their hands full with the two dead Female personnel from the diving bell.
Moments later.
All three of the divers with Patterson in charge. They went out into the freezing waters heading down to the location of the cavern. Patterson began to speak with the two divers while making sure they were alright.
Ron was able to say he was fine as with Saunders. It will be moments later when they find the exact spot with the three of them heading inside to see the top portion of the cavern opening.
They just couldn't believe it when broke open the top portion while finding the cave's land mass. Taking off their masks and oxygen from their faces. They went looking for Sharkey and Kowalski.
Within the next small section of the cavern. They were able to see both men sitting chatting to each other. When Kowalski turned to see the three divers to be a sight for sore eyes.
"Sharkey! They're here." he cried out with a single tear rolling down his cheek at the moment.
Sharkey couldn't believe it. "This is amazing guys finding us this way?" he said calmly moving up from the damp ground.
"The Seaview was able to receive the S.O.S. that was sent from the flying sub." Patterson had to say to the two men happy to see them.
"I was able to send it with very little damage to the flying sub." Kowalski needed to have said to them. "When can we get out of here Patterson?" he asked calmly needing a real meal, shower, and a proper bed to sleep in.
With a shake of his head. Patterson will say the following to his friends. "Right now once you're able to place on your suits while making sure your masks and oxygen are working fine?"
It was at this point that the two men went to gather up their things along with the diving suits getting dressed. Chief Sharkey was never so glad that the Seaview was able to find them.

CONTROL ROOM
Commander Chip Morton had been watching over the radar screen with another man working the shift. They had been making sure there wasn't anyone around the area to stop the divers from reaching the cavern and vice versus.
It was moments later when Sparks had to be in contact with the diving party. He had called Captain Crane and Admiral Nelson to head for the missile room with the diving party arriving having rescued Sharkey and Kowalski from the underground cavern.
Admiral Nelson had been in contact with the State Department regarding those having been taken from the London Science Institute diving bell. Nelson was glad that Doctor Mendez and his wife Louise survived the tragedy. He needed to know whether or not the Siberian Tiger would be letting go of the science team at a disclosed location.
Ten minutes later the entire personnel had arrived safe and sound with those inside the aft missile shaking their hands. However, the Chief Medical Officer wanted Chief Sharkey and Kowalski in sickbay prompted to be checked over for the most part.
"Alright Doctor, we are heading for sickbay. But I am telling you we are fine after eating all that fish for our meals."Kowalski says with a quick smile showing on his face.
"I will be sure that you're able to make it with ease." Doctor Alverez will say in front of the group smiling and chuckling at the same time. "Come this way gentlemen before your boss, Admiral Nelson comes looking for the both of you." he had been playing a little with the both of them.
Neither men were liking it one bit with the dry wit of Doctor Alverez. It was too bad that it wasn't Doctor Jamieson having to elsewhere on the Seaview.
SICKBAY
Captain Lee Crane had been waiting on word of both men's physicals by Doctor Alverez and his medical team having to be sure they were fine. Captain Crane had received a short reply from Admiral Nelson on whether or not he had heard from the State Department. The answer had been no mostly with the President and the Kremlin having to be taking their time with the diplomatic situation with the Siberian Tiger.
Moving up from his seat with Doctor Alverez and Jamieson walking out the two Sharkey and Kowalski finishing up with their checkups. "How are they Doctors"? he said to them with a low tone in his voice.
It will be Doctor Jamieson to answer the question. "They are fine Captain. I am sending them to their quarters to rest along with any meals. They will be coming back to work in a few days. So I do hope that you and Admiral Nelson understand all this medical technology from me?" he says with a low hiss in his voice.
Captain Lee Crane understood very well. "Certainly I do, Doctor Jamieson," he remarked before moving out of sickbay to continue with his work.
