Sensing a potential threat, Luna and Sophia hunkered down amidst the undergrowth, careful to stay hidden from prying eyes.

Luna peered at Sophia, her brows furrowed, and her ears flattened.

"This is scary, I'm not sure about this." Lunas tone was low and cautious. Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, her ears tuned to the sounds. It was at this time, that Luna ears picked up on shouting from on the farm, a mix of male and female voices. It caused Lunas fur to stand on end. A tremble goes through her body. Lunas hand clutch Sophias tightly, her little fingers turning white, her eyes widening in fear.

The loudest voice seemed to belong to a bald, slightly tan man. At least from what Lunas eyes could pick out. He appeared to be passing out weapons to the other people in the group.

Sophia still remained by Luna's side, unable to see what was happening through the undergrowth, only hearing the shouting from the voices on the farm but unable to pick out words, she kept tight to Lunas side.

Luna watched as a small boy with tousled brown hair, ran up to the bald man. Luna could not quite understand what was being said, but the bald man appeared to look agitated at his words. The man turning around, his eyes darting around the farm before landing in their direction. It was at this point, that the Bald man, and the rest of the group appears to be running in their direction towards them, from the white house. Luna eyes picking up on his shaved hair, a blonde lady and someone who Luna recognises as Daryl. Luna grabs a hold of Sophia's hand and pulls her slightly further into the undergrowth, concern for being seen growing.

Her heart raced as her gaze locked onto the approaching figures. The bald man, charged towards them, only it wasn't towards them. It was towards the 2 walkers being led on metal leads onto the farm, by 3 males. An older man with grey hair, a young man wearing a funny hat, and another man with dark brown hair.

The Bald man whose name Luna picks up as Shane begins yelling at the older man. As the men continue to hold onto the metal poles holding the walkers. Walking them further into the field towards the farmhouse. The rotting arms of the walkers reaching out with each step towards the men.

"What the hell are you doing?" Shane yells.

"Shane, just back off." A man who was holding onto a metal lead says.

"Why do your people have guns?" The older man says, his hands still tight on the walker.

"Are you kidding me? You, see?" Shane shouts his frustration obvious.

"You see what they're holding onto?" He continues.

"I see who I'm holding onto." The older man replies.

"No, man, you don't." Shane's voice makes Lunas trembles worse, Sophia's eyes not leaving Lunas face as she holds onto her hand tighter. Sophia realising that something terrible is happening stays by Lunas side. Shane continues his yelling, Luna drowns it out, keeping her focus on Sophia, while making sure they remained hidden amongst the trees, that was until she hears another loud bang, followed by another and then another. Lunas head sprung so fast back to facing the group and Sophia pulls forward out of Lunas grasp, and moves the undergrowth aside.

"What's happening?" Luna asked, her eyes big and confused.
"Why do they have guns? Guns are scary."
Luna didn't fully understand the arguments and loud voices, but she knew something was wrong. She looked back at the group through the leaves and undergrowth, but it was all too much for her young mind to comprehend.

"Sophia", Luna whispered, trying to pull her back into the undergrowth, but Sophia stood strong and shook her head. Sophia remained her anchor, and Luna held onto her friend's hand like a lifeline.

"Enough risking our lives for a little girl who's gone!" Luna hears Shane say. She re grabs Sophia's hand, who gasps, understanding they were talking about her.

Luna, her heart hammering in her chest, looks at Sophia, who is now looking at the men on the farm, her mouth agape.

Realising that these are probably the people Sophia had been looking for, tugs her hand slightly pulling her out of her trance.

As Sophia went to pull her hand from Lunas grip, she falters. They both look over at the commotion through the undergrowth and shelter of leaves.
"Sophia, we should hide," Luna suggested, her voice barely above a whisper. She tugged at Sophia's hand, wanting her friend to retreat back into the safety of the trees.

As if on cue, Shane swung open the barn doors, releasing the walkers one by one. They shuffled forward, grotesque and hungry. Shane, Daryl and some of the group Luna does not recognise held their guns strong towards the barn, the shots echoing through the air. When the first shot rang out, Luna squealed and pressed closer to Sophia, her eyes wide with fear, before her body naturally tried to move away from danger. Sophias eyes wanders over the scene in front of her, her gaze moving from Lori, who was holding her friend Carl, to her mother who had her hands over her face in stress. It was the same stance Sophia recognised that she holds when her father used to scream at them.

Each bang that rang through the air was causing Luna to move further away from Sophia and into the undergrowth, the sounds too loud for her ears. Sophia's hand stretched behind to keep a connection to Luna.
Luna clung to Sophias outstretched hand, her innocence evident in her simple questions and her need for comfort from her older friend.

The Greene family watched in horrified disbelief as their family members were taken out. Glenn, unwilling to stand idly by, joined the rest of the group. Rick's desperate voice arose above, the loud bangs, a futile cry for restraint amid the crimson tide.

Sophia, her breath caught in her throat, broke free from Luna's grasp once and for all. A blur of movement, a barely stifled cry of surprise, Luna's eyes widened as she watched with horror as a figure stumbled out of the barn, a child walker with vacant eyes and a haunting resemblance. It was a twisted mirror image of Sophia herself. Sophia's eyes widened in horror as she saw the uncanny resemblance. The same blonde hair, same innocent face. But this was no longer a child full of life and hope; it was a walker, one of the dead. Carol, Sophia's mother, dropped to her knees, keening with sorrow as she stared at the child walker. Tears cascaded down her cheeks, her cries echoing through the air, drowning out the screams of the others. The group stood in stunned silence, believing this abomination to be the very same child who had gone missing in the woods.

Sophia and Luna watched on, fear and confusion gripped them both, rooting Sophia's feet to the ground. She watched, helpless, as the walker child dragged its decaying body towards the leader, Rick. The tension in the air was palpable, fear mingling with grief and rage.

"SOPHIA!" The name is screamed. The man who Luna recognises as Daryl grabs a hold of the older women. In that moment, Sophia understood the weight of their mistake. They thought they had found her, thought that the decaying walker dragging its feet towards Rick was her, all while she stood there, unseen. Bound by her fear, paralyzed by the impending horror before her, she watched as her mother wept for a phantom.

"Mom" Sophia's voice trembled, barely more than a whisper. Rick reaches forward his gun planted at the mirror image of Sophia, before a final bang echoed through the air, as the walker dropped to the floor. The groups attention remained fixed on the child walker, a symbol of lost innocence and shattered hopes.

Sophia runs out into the open, pushing past the remaining undergrowth and pulling away from Luna, her heart pounding in her chest and tears rolling down her cheeks. She is unsure of how her group will react to her. Her mother, Carol, was still being held by Daryl.

Luna, her heart sinking in her chest, watched as Sophia ran towards the older woman.

As Sophia approaches the scene, she slows her pace. Her heart skips a beat as the group turn their guns and attention towards her.

Andrea, the first to notice Sophia, was in complete shock. She turned to look at the girl that was standing in front of them, then to the child walker Rick has shot, her brain unable to process what was going on. Carl looks on with watery eyes, as they land on Sophia. Disbelief crosses his face, as he tugs at his mothers' arms.

"Mom" Sophia whispers, tears falling down her face. Carol's eyes widen in shock, her hands trembling.

"Sophia?" She chokes.

"Sophia?" She cries again.

"Mommy!" She runs into her mother's waiting arms. Daryl lets her go, stepping back. The two girls embrace, both crying.

"I can't believe you're alive!" She sobs. Carl moves slightly in Loris arms, wanting to move to give his friend a hug, but Lori holds him back. Her arms tightening around his torso, letting Sophia and Carol reunite.

The rest of the group were completely unaware of Luna watching the scene play out, hidden still amongst the undergrowth. Lunas body shifted as the trembles overtook her body from the shock. The call of the wolf too strong for her to no longer hold back. Her clothes drop to the floor around her, the knife that was once sat close to her skin, dropping to ne hidden in the pool of dirty clothes.

Luna, her blue eyes wide, and her ears flattened against her skull, watched as Sophia was tightly embraced by Carol.

Lunas heart pounded hard in her chest. Unsure of the reactions from the rest of the group. Her fur standing on edge, as she crouched prepared to run ahead and jump in, if anything goes wrong.

Andrea lowered her gun, her eyes still not leaving Sophia.

"I-is it really you? I'm not dreaming, am I?" Carol's voice shakes, her arms tightening around Sophia.

"It's me, Mom, it's really me."

Rick, Daryl and Andrea approached the duo. Carl finally moving away from his mothers arms towards Sophia is pulled back from his shoulder by Shanes hand, Carl to focused on Sophia misses the glare that passes from Lori to Shane.

"How...how is this possible? We thought...We thought you were gone."

Luna, still hidden from sight, watched with bated breath, the tension thick, as Carol's eyes raked over her daughter. Sophia could feel her mother, Carol, looking at her and taking in her appearance. She looks down at herself, her pants were torn and filthy, blood covered her t-shirt, the rainbow design barely visible amongst the dirt. Her hair had grown a little longer, as she held herself strong. The sharp knife she carried, nestled at her hip.

Carol reached out, her fingers brushing against the blade, before her hands moved to Sophia's face, gently caressing her cheek.

"I thought you were gone, I'm so sorry!" Carol sobbed.

"You're not leaving my side ever again."

Carol looked down, taking in Sophia's appearance.

"Oh my goodness! What happened to your legs?" Her voice filled with shock, Carol's eyes roamed the scratches covering her lower legs.

"A Walker got too close, I'm fine though. These scratches are already healing." Sophia smiles, hoping her mother won't make a big deal about it.

Carol, her heart racing, was unsure if her daughter was telling the truth.

"We need to get these cuts treated, let's get you back to the house. Hershal can look you over."

As Carol goes to guide Sophia back to the house, Sophia remembers Luna. She stops walking and turns back towards the forest.

"Luna?" Sophia called.

Carols brows furrowed, and Carls eyes moved to look towards the forest line.

"Who is Luna?" Her tone was soft and concerned.

"A friend."
