The desert sun reflected relentlessly on the golden sands of ancient Egypt. On the banks of the Nile, the bustling city of Thebes stretched like a beacon of life and commerce among the towering temples and majestic pyramids. Among the crowd of Egyptian merchants and citizens, a tall, burly man in Roman armor stood out: Blitzo, a mercenary sent from Rome to protect the empire's interests in these exotic and mysterious lands.
Blitzo was not a man of many words, but his commanding presence and skill in battle had made him respected among his peers and feared by his enemies. Beneath the mask of severity that he wore during his duties, there was a spark of curiosity and longing for the unknown that led him to explore the most remote corners of Thebes when he was not on duty.
On one of those escapades, his footsteps took him to a temple dedicated to Bastet, the feline goddess of fertility and home. In the sanctuary, where the statues of the deity looked with golden eyes towards the faithful, Blitzo stood amazed by the beauty and serenity of the place. It was then that his eyes fell on a female figure moving gracefully between the altars. It was Loona, a young Egyptian priestess with dark hair and eyes intense like the desert in broad daylight. She wore a white robe decorated with ancient symbols and her presence radiated a peace that contrasted with the chaos of the city.
The first meetings were brief and silent, barely exchanging furtive glances and shy smiles. However, each encounter strengthened an invisible bond that began to form between them. Blitzo, accustomed to the brutality of war and Roman discipline, found in Loona a tranquility and wisdom that intrigued him deeply.
One afternoon, on the banks of the Nile, where the water flowed calmly and the sun's rays reflected on the golden surface, Blitzo and Loona had their first significant meeting. She was gathering reeds for a ritual ceremony while he watched silently from a distance, absorbed in her thoughts. When she finally approached, she did so with the clumsiness of a man who had fought more with his heart than with his enemies.
—What are you doing here, Roman mercenary? —Loona asked, her voice soft as the murmur of the wind among her palm trees.
Blitzo hesitated for a moment, feeling the weight of the words on her tongue. —I just... admired the beauty of the Nile and the tranquility that I find near you.
Loona raised an eyebrow curiously, but she didn't look away from the reeds in her hands. —Romans and Egyptians do not usually mix peacefully. What are you looking for here, then?
"I don't know for sure," Blitzo confessed, surprised by his own honesty. But I know that since I first saw you in the temple of Bastet, something in me has changed.
Loona's eyes met his, and for an instant, the noise of the city disappeared, leaving only the whisper of the Nile and the rapid beat of her heart.
As the days passed, Blitzo and Loona continued to meet in the markets and in secluded places around the city. Despite language and cultural barriers, they found a connection that surpassed any superficial differences. Blitzo, with his past of wars and battles, shared with Loona stories of distant lands and conflicts to which the young priestess listened attentively, amazed by life outside the borders of her homeland.
However, not everything was harmony. Rumors of the Roman presence in Thebes began to arouse resentment among the Egyptians. Although Blitzo was not responsible for the empire's policies, his mere presence represented foreign domination that many were unwilling to tolerate. Loona, for her part, felt the weight of her duty as a priestess and her ties to her community that made her doubt her feelings toward the Roman.
One night, in the shadows of the temple of Bastet, where the statues seemed to come to life under the light of the torches, Blitzo and Loona finally faced the truth they had been avoiding.
"Why do you care so much about me, Blitzo?" Loona asked in a whisper, as shadows danced around them like ancient spirits.
"Because you have awakened something in me that I thought was lost," he answered sincerely, taking her hand delicately. I've never met anyone like you, Loona. You are the balance I need in my life of battles and blood.
Loona looked away from her, feeling the mixture of emotions warring within her. —But we are from different worlds, Blitzo. Our paths are not meant to cross this way.
"Then let's change our destinies," he proposed, with a determination that resonated in every word. Let us not allow the divisions of others to dictate our future.
Was At that moment, under the silent gaze of Bastet and the whisper of the wind in the palm trees, Blitzo and Loona decided to move forward together, facing the challenge that destiny had in store for them.
But peace did not come easily. Tension between Romans and Egyptians reached a fever pitch, and Blitzo was forced to make decisions that would test her love and his loyalty.
One night, as they walked through the streets of Thebes, shouts and angry voices echoed in the air. Angry Egyptians had gathered in front of the Roman garrison, demanding that they abandon their lands. Blitzo and Loona looked at each other with concern, knowing that danger lurked around every corner.
"I can't let them hurt you because of me," Blitzo murmured, his voice thick with concern.
Loona took his hand firmly. —Don't let fear make you abandon what we have built together. We are stronger if we are united.
Blitzo nodded determinedly, wishing he could protect Loona from any threat. However, when the crowd began to attack the Roman soldiers, the situation became chaotic and dangerous.
—Stop! —Loona shouted, raising her arms in a desperate attempt to calm the crowd.
But his words were drowned out by the fury of the crowd. Blitzo stood in front of her, ready to take on any threat that stood in her way. However, before they could move forward, a tall, elderly figure pushed through the crowd.
He was the High Priest of the temple of Bastet, a man respected and known for his wisdom. He raised his hands in a gesture of peace, invoking calm among those present.
—Stop this violence right now! —He ordered with a voice that echoed like thunder in the night.
The crowd gradually quieted, although resentment was still palpable in the air. Blitzo looked at the High Priest with gratitude, mixed with surprise.
"Thank you for intervening," he murmured, aware that the situation could have become much more violent.
The High Priest nodded solemnly. —The fate of you two is not decided by the anger of men. If love can blossom between two souls from different worlds, then there is hope for a peaceful future.
With those words echoing in their minds, Blitzo and Loona retreated to a safe place, far from the turmoil of the city. There, under the faint light of the stars and the constant whisper of the Nile, they found a moment of calm in the midst of the chaos.
-Are you OK? —Blitzo asked, his tone full of concern, as he caressed Loona's face tenderly.
She nodded slowly, looking deep into her sea-blue eyes. —Thanks to you, I am safe. But I cannot ignore the tensions that exist between my people and the Romans.
Blitzo sighed, feeling the weight of Loona's words. —I don't want to cause you any more problems. Maybe it's better that I go.
Loona shook her head firmly, taking Blitzo's hands in hers. -No. You can't leave, Blitzo. Not after everything we've shared, everything we've built together.
He looked at her intensely, seeing the fear in her golden eyes that reflected the uncertainty of the future. "So what do we do now?"
Loona took a deep breath, gathering her courage. —We will move forward together, Blitzo. We will overcome these tests, as we have done until now. Let's not allow anything or anyone to separate us.
Blitzo smiled weakly, feeling a mix of gratitude and determination fill his heart. —Together, Loona. Always together.
It was on that night, between the protective shadows of ancient Egypt and the stars that watched silently from above, that Blitzo and Loona sealed their promise of love and loyalty, determined to face any challenge that fate threw their way.
In the end, with the Nile River as a silent witness, Blitzo and Loona found themselves in a place where the barriers of time and culture faded. In a world divided by duty and destiny, they found their own little paradise, where love triumphed over all adversity.
This is a oneshot that has been floating around in my head for quite some time, I hope you enjoy it. It is an AU (Alternate Universe), as well as a BlitzoxLoona, whoever does not like this Shipp should not read.
