A/N - This is a fully revised story from my "Let There Be Light" fanfiction. A lot has changed! I would fully appreciate any feedback in reviews. I have decided to more or less fully revamp the characters, add some new ones and develop other bonds and friendships. I hope you all enjoy it!

The village of Iriegakure, nestled within the secluded and rocky coves of the Land of Strange Rocks, was a place of tranquillity and mystery. Its villagers lived humble lives, their days spent fishing and tending to the peculiar, luminescent rocks that gave the land its name. These rocks, glowing with an ethereal light at night, were a well-kept secret, believed to bring prosperity to the village on the island.

Among the villagers was a young girl named Hotaru, known for her vibrant red hair and striking, deep red eyes. She lived a peaceful life with her parents, basking in the safety of their secluded home. Hotaru's days were filled with the warmth of her family's love and the simple joys of village life.

But the serenity of Iriegakure was shattered one fateful night.

Somehow, the surrounding shinobi nations had learned of the luminescent rocks and the unique ability Hotaru possessed, an ability that had yet to awaken but held great potential. The village was under attack, and the once quiet cove was filled with the sounds of chaos and destruction.

Hotaru's father, a brave man, fought fiercely to protect his family. He stood as a shield against the invaders, his resolve unyielding. "Run, Hotaru! Run with your mother!" he shouted, his voice filled with desperation.

Hotaru's mother grabbed her, pulling her away from the horror unfolding around them. "We have to go, Hotaru. We have to stay hidden," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear. But Hotaru didn't want to leave her father behind and tried to pull back against her mother, desperate to stay with him.

As they fled, Hotaru glanced back, her heart breaking at the sight of her father being overwhelmed. "Papa!" she cried, her small hands reaching out.

"Don't look back, Hotaru," her mother urged, her grip tightening.

They found refuge in a hidden alcove, the sounds of battle echoing through the caverns. Hotaru's mother held her close, her voice a soothing lullaby against the terror. "It's going to be okay, my little firefly. We'll be safe here."

But safety was an illusion. The enemy shinobi, relentless in their pursuit, found them. Hotaru's mother fought bravely, but she too was struck down. "Hide, Hotaru! Don't let them find you," she managed to say before collapsing.

Hotaru, consumed by grief and terror, hid in the shadows, watching as the invaders approached her mother's lifeless body. The weight of loss and helplessness crushed her, and in that moment, something inside her snapped.

Her eyes, already deep red, began to glow with an otherworldly light. The Yumeiigan, her dormant dōjutsu, awakened with a ferocity she could not control. The world around her erupted in blinding radiance, the light drawing energy from every living being in its path.

The invading shinobi screamed in agony as their life forces were drained, their bodies withering under the intense power. The radiance grew, feeding off the energy around it, until it became an inferno of heat and light.

Hotaru's vision blurred, the power searing through her eyes, leaving her blind and burned. The devastation ended only when there was no life left to sustain the inferno. Everything around her, plants and people alike, lay lifeless, drained of their energy. They were nothing but black carbon shells of their former beings.

In the aftermath, Hotaru lay among the ruins of her village, her body trembling with exhaustion and grief. The realisation of what she had done, the destruction she had caused, was too much to bear. She had lost everything—her family, her home, her sight. The excruciating physical and emotional pain became overwhelming and Hotaur succumbed to her injuries, passing out almost immediately after the light dissipated from her body.

It was then that a figure emerged from the shadows. Itsuki Kazama, an elite ANBU captain, had been sent to investigate the disturbance. He found Hotaru, broken and blind, surrounded by the remnants of her village's tragic fate.

Taking pity on the young girl, Itsuki decided to take her back to his village. He saw the potential in her, the power that needed to be controlled and guided. This land may have been destroyed, but there will be others out there who will seek her eyes. He adopted Hotaru, bringing her to Konohagakure, where he would train her with the discipline and rigour of a shinobi.

From that day on, Hotaru wore a black blindfold to cover her still blinded eyes, a constant reminder of the power she could not yet control and the tragedy that had befallen her home. Itsuki's training was harsh and unyielding, aimed at making her resilient and disciplined. He knew that for Hotaru to harness her dōjutsu, she needed to master her emotions and control her chakra with precision. Hotaru grew into a disciplined and focused individual, whose cold and distant demeanour was matched in her attire. She kept everything hidden from those outside her home. With her eyes blindfolded, Hotaru also adorned her head with a deep burgundy headscarf to conceal her hair. Her attire was a simple, dark blue kimono style top, secured at the waist with an off-white obi style belt and black trousers to finish. To finish it off, she would often wear bandages on her arms and legs, a sign of her intense training method that she followed.

Absolutely! Here's a revised, more compelling version of the final paragraph:

As Hotaru grew, so did her resolve. Even as her eyes continued their slow recovery, Hotaru vowed to remain in the darkness, determined never to let her emotions spill or her power cause harm again. She was steadfast in her goals, convinced she could remain undistracted. But as she stepped into the ninja academy, she was unaware that this new world, filled with unexpected friendships and challenges, was destined to unravel her carefully guarded plans and ignite something within her that she never saw coming.

A/N - I'm gonna add as well, if you think Hotaru is OP or too Mary Sue like, I ask that you just wait it out as I have tried hard to create a lot of balance in her abilities. For the great power comes great cost.
