Chapter 6

Bobby looked over at Dean as he stirred and moved around but didn't completely come around. There was a pinched look on his face and his eyes moved back and forth under his eyelids. Mumbled, slurred words, barely audible made Bobby strain to hear. He only made out two words Sammy and protect.

"It's okay son, Sam's safe and so are you," Bobby told the young hunter. He patted his arm to let him know he wasn't alone. "You can rest easy now."

"Dean!" Sam cried from the back seat as he flailed his arms like he was fighting something or someone.

"Calm down Sam. You and Dean are okay," Bobby called to him as he glanced in the back. It seemed hearing his voice quieted Sam down but his body still jerked and trembled. "I'll get you boys to the motel, and you can rest and then we'll head to the salvage yard." He hoped whatever the witch had given them wouldn't have long lasting affects for the boys since he didn't know what was in it. From the way they were acting, he wondered if they were hallucinating or had been tossed into their own nightmares. And he knew they were carrying around enough baggage to warrant worry.

Bobby fought the traffic to get back to the motel and pulled the Impala in front of his room. He got out and unlocked the door and waited for Rufus to get there before getting the brothers from the car.

"Here you go Bobby," Rufus addressed him while handing him the keys.

"Thanks, can you help me get the boys inside and onto a bed?"

"Yeah, yeah, then I'm heading out."

Bobby started with Dean, and they steered him into the room and onto a bed. Sam was next and they put him beside his brother.

"Well, I did learn one thing," Rufus huffed as he stretched his back and acted like it was hurting. "Those witch killing bullets did the job."

"They'll be good to have. Do you have more? I'd like to get a box of them."

"You can have the rest of the ones I have since I got another box and can get more." Rufus checked his bag and pulled out the box leaving it on the table.

"How much do I owe you?"

"Twenty bucks ought to cover it."

Bobby dug into his pocket and found his folded money. He peeled off a ten and two fives and passed them to Rufus.

"I'm heading out. Oh, and Bobby, put me way down on your call list. You know how I hate manning the phones. Too many dumb assholes calling to check on someone."

"I'll keep that in mind." Bobby gave him a salute as he headed out the door and turned back to the brothers. "Guess I can make you a little more comfortable." He walked to the bed and pulled off their boots before checking them as best he could for any injuries. He got the first aid kit and doctored their wrists that had been rubbed raw when they tried to get loose.

"Bo…by," Dean mumbled as he squinted up at him.

"Yes boy. You're safe."

"Wha hap…"

"You were kidnapped by a witch, and she sent two shapeshifters in your and Sam's place. Luckily, they didn't do a good job being you."

"Sam'y?"

"He's right beside you. You were drugged but I'm hoping whatever it was will be wearing off soon. How 'bout a sip of water?" Bobby filled a cup with water and helped Dean sit up so he could sip a little. "That's it, try and rest, I'll be here when you wake up."

Dean nodded and let his eyes close as he reached for his brother. He laid a hand on his arm drawing comfort with the connection.

Bobby took a blanket and covered them before sitting down at the table. He had his boys back and could relax a little now. He hoped the drugs would be out of their systems by the following day and they could head home. If not, he'd pay for another night.

The brothers seemed to be resting easier now like they knew they were out of danger now. With that being the case, Bobby decided to walk down the street to the diner to get some takeout food. He was sure they would be okay until he got back. He figured it would be an early night for him and hoped tomorrow the brothers would be alert and coherent.

Sam rolled over and flopped his arms to the side, smacking Dean in the face. Dean jerked and snorted as he pushed his brother away from him.

"Stop," Dean fussed when Sam did it again. He slapped at Sam's body as he tried to pull his mind out of the fog that was rolling around in his head.

"Wha…" Sam groaned rolling his head and stretching his body as he worked on waking up. His vision was blurry, and he couldn't make out where he was at first. A dull ache ran up his arm and he felt bandages on his wrist.

Dean shifted on the bed and forced himself to a sitting position hoping the room would stop spinning.

"Dean, what's wrong?" Bobby asked from the other bed. He had dozed off but woke when he sensed the brothers were waking up.

"Bathroom," Dean got out as he let his head fall forward onto his chest. He took some slow deep breaths before raising it and finally focusing on Bobby.

"Let me help," Bobby insisted. "Don't need you falling and breaking something." He got up and steadied Dean as he stood, swaying unsteadily. "Whenever you're ready."

Dean concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other and let Bobby guide him to the bathroom.

"I've got it," Dean said, grabbing the wall for support. He stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.

"Bobby," Sam called to him.

"Yeah, son," he answered.

"How'd we get here and where is here?" he asked rubbing his temple as his head pounded. His mouth was so dry he could barely swallow.

"Here, sip on this," Bobby said offering him a glass of water.

"Thanks." Sam had to hold the glass with two hands to keep it from spilling. He couldn't stop his hands from trembling as he raised it to his mouth and sipped the cold liquid. Relief flooded through him as he forced himself to drink slowly and not guzzle the water knowing if he did, he probably throw it up.

"You boys were kidnapped and brought here to Aberdeen," Bobby answered Sam's questions once Dean had stepped back into the room.

"Last I remember we were wrapping up a hunt and then everything is blank," Sam said. "Do you remember Dean?"

"Nope, same thing with me. One thing I know though is I need a shower," Dean stated leaning against the bathroom door and carefully stepped back into the main room. "I smell too bad to ride in a car with myself must less stink box over there."

"Bite me. Bathroom first," Sam told him. He let Bobby help him up and stumbled to the bathroom to use it before Dean got a shower.

"Where's my Baby?" Dean asked when he saw their bags weren't in the room.

"Parked out front. I brought your bags in after we got you here last night."

"Thanks," Dean said. He rummaged in his bag and found clothes to wear.

"If you boys feel up to it, we'll get something to eat and head home. One of you will need to drive the Impala since I have my car."

"I'll drive," Dean said. "Ummm…How far will that be?"

"We're about three hours from the salvage yard."

"I can do that in my sleep. Shower and food." Dean slipped by Sam and into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

"I don't know what they gave us, but it leaves one hell of a headache," Sam commented, taking a seat at the table. "I'll get a shower after Dean. I stink too."

"Do you think your brother can drive home or should we stay another day?"

"I don't think he'll try unless he knows he can. You know how he feels about the Impala. No way he'll drive it if there's a chance of wrecking."

"Alright. We'll see how you both feel after getting some food in you. I'll go over to the office and get some breakfast food. They'll be open in five minutes."

"Something light for me. I don't think my stomach can handle anything heavy."

"They had yogurt yesterday. I'll get some of that."

"What did the kidnappers want? We were never told anything. When we came to, we were tied to chairs I'm thinking in a bedroom."

"A witch wanted an ancient spell book I inherited from another hunter years ago. After looking at it, I realized how dangerous it was and stored it in a hex box and forgot about it."

"I wonder how this witch found out about it, you having it, I'm mean."

"Maybe a tracker spell of some kind. She was a witch after all."

"True."

"Well, I'll go get us some breakfast," Bobby grunted as he got up and went out the door.

Sam looked toward the bathroom door as Dean stepped out followed by a cloud of steam.

"Your turn," Dean told him as he stuffed his dirty clothes into his bag.

"Alright," Sam nodded staggering to his bag to get clean clothes.

"Whoa there Sammy. Need to stay on your feet if you're going to shower," Dean cautioned him as he grabbed his arm to steady him.

"Do you have a headache?"

"Yeah, dull ache circling around my head. I'll get us some drugs to take. We'll go back to Bobby's and take a few days to rest up."

"Good. I could use the downtime." Sam stepped into the bathroom for his shower leaving Dean alone.

Dean sat at the table and glanced out the window to see the sun was just coming up, lighting the morning sky with blues, pinks, and white. He wasn't usually up this early to see the sight. A short time later, Bobby came back with coffee and food. Once they ate and it was decided Dean could drive, they headed out for Sioux Falls.

Bobby had decided since the boys were okay now, once he got rid of the fake ones, he was going to contact Ellen to see if she was up to him visiting for a few days. He could have the brothers take care of the phones and any calls from hunters since they would need the time to recover. With that decided, he could relax and take some much-needed time off. Finally!
