Yet another random idea I had about the seer grimm's effect on Ruby and its hurt/comfort potential. This is set somewhere vaguely after v8 with the gang in Vacuo, but no major spoilers. It's probably a little rushed and messy but I was just trying to get it out of my head. Enjoy!
The whole thing seems to come out of nowhere.
Sure, Ruby has been acting a bit odd since they encountered the Seer Grimm, going quiet and rubbing at her temples like she's dealing with a monster headache, but no one is expecting her to just suddenly collapse.
"Ruby?" Yang calls out to her sister, her frown deepening when she gets no response. It seems like Ruby is out cold. But why?
There's not much more time to process what's happening because in a matter of seconds, Ruby's unconscious body begins to twitch slightly. The tiny movements quickly turn into larger spasms, her limbs jerking and head rolling against the ground. Even though they've all taken basic first aid, Yang finds herself frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
This was just supposed to be a basic recon mission to check for Grimm activity on the outskirts of the city, and now her sister is having some kind of seizure? What is she supposed to do? They're miles away from any kind of help.
Luckily for her, the only other person with them, Nora, takes action right away. She glances briefly at her watch before dropping to her knees next to Ruby. Nora strips off her jacket and folds it up, placing it under her friend's head before rolling Ruby onto her side.
"I've got this," she tells Yang, her voice completely calm despite the situation they're in. "Go take care of the Grimm already, will you?"
It seems wrong to leave Ruby's side when her sister is in such a vulnerable state, but Nora seems to have things under control, so Yang reluctantly turns away to locate the Grimm. At least she can take out some of her worry by getting rid of it.
As soon as it's dead she's hurrying back to Nora and Ruby, skidding to a halt in the sand next to them. It's a relief to see that the seizure has stopped, but now Ruby's complete stillness is pretty alarming. "Is she going to be okay?"
"She should be fine," Nora replies, checking her watch again. "The seizure didn't last that long. We should get her out of here, though."
"She's so still, though. Are you sure it's okay to move her?"
"That's normal for after a seizure," Nora assures her. "It probably wore her out pretty good. We don't really have time to wait for her to wake up again though, since that might take a while."
"I'll carry her, then," Yang declares, carefully scooping Ruby up into a sort of bridle carry. It brings back memories from when they were little kids and Ruby would fall asleep while playing. Luckily, her little sister hasn't gotten too big to carry.
It's still worrying how limp her sister is against her, but at least her pulse is strong and her breathing is regular when Yang checks her vitals. "How do you know so much about seizures, anyway?" she asks Nora. It's a question that's been on her mind since the other girl immediately jumped into action.
"My semblance is all about electricity," Nora replies, shrugging her jacket back on and smiling sadly. "I kind of had to learn the hard way."
Wow. Yang has struggled with aspects of her semblance over the years, but that's something she's never even had to think about before. That sounds really rough. "Well, I'm glad you were out here with us for this. I definitely wouldn't have known what to do."
"Of course, Ruby's my friend too," Nora says, smiling less sadly now. "Now come on, let's head back already."

I will probably do a second part of this at some point.
