Provenza
He would never admit that to anyone, especially not to Andy but he was starting to worry about his best friend. Falling in love was bad enough, but when that love was being unrequited it was even worse. It was a long time coming, if you asked him. He had seen it blossom for years now, from his partner's infatuation toward the head of FID to their tentative friendship and to what seems to be a platonic love affair nowadays.
What he couldn't understand was why she never turned him down. He sometimes wondered if she too had some feelings. Rusty seemed to think so. He was.. unsure. He knew how difficult her wedding had been, how damaged she was since. After all, he had known her for a very long time… Few people knew he had been her first partner when she was out of the academy and fresh in patrol. He needed money back then and used to work as a detective in robbery/homicide during the day and worked the night shift in patrol.
Anyway, tonight, after the fiasco of the nutcracker a few days ago, he was here to support his friend, whether he wanted to or not. He would not let Flynn mope on his own and get back into the bottle because of a damn woman. Even if she was a fine woman and an excellent Captain (he would never acknowledge that to anyone but still).
After navigating on the Internet and even on The Facebook (damn smartphone), he found an excuse to knock on his friends's door. There was a match Rangers against The Kings. He knew Andy wouldn't say no to that, if he wasn't already in front of it. Though he couldn't see the typical blueu lights from a TV from outside, only that the lamp near the sofa was turned on. Maybe he was reading. Falling for the Captain was really bad for him…
Provenza made his way to the door and knock twice before turning the knob. Locked. The door was locked. Before he could say anything, he heard a commotion inside and the door opened. And his jaw too.
Here, on the doorstep, stood their Captain, more Sharon than Darth Raydor, in what seemed to be Andy's shirt. Her long hair was tousled and wavier than usual. Her make-up was slightly smudge and her foundation had worn off, he could see little freckles on her nose and cheeks. The top buttons of the shirts were undone and gave him an impressive view of her cleavage and given the fact that he could see the outlines of her nipples, he was pretty sure she was not wearing a bra underneath. He cast his eyes down and was greeted with her long bare legs. No shoes, no socks, just miles of long toned legs. And a few bills in her right hand.
"You're not the pizza guy." She said, her voice huskier, her cheeks bright red. And she closed the door, nearly hitting him in the face.
Astonished, he didn't know what to do, what to think. At least now he knew his friend's feelings were reciprocated. He was about to raise his fist to knock again on the door when it opened.
"What the Heck?!" Asked a visibly flustered and irritated Andy. He was not wearing anything else than a blue striped pair of boxers. Andy calmed down immediately when he understood the situation. "Sorry, we were not expecting you."
Maybe it was the use of the pronoun that shocked him the most. We. The acknowledgement that it wasn't just a one time thing. That they really were an item. Sex was one thing, he could understand passion and losing control even if those notions seemed hard to associate with Sharon Raydor. But it was more than that. They didn't just screw. He knew it, they knew it. He didn't know if it was love already but it sure was close to it. It would make things more complicated at work but it was rulebook Raydor. The woman who never took a chance, never acted reckless. If she thought it was worth risking her career… it meant her feelings run way deeper than he thought.
He played with the idea of coming inside and imposing on them, they were obviously waiting for a pizza and he wouldn't mind eating. But what was he going to find inside? More proofs of their relationship? He didn't need that, thank you very much. "I'm leaving but you ought me one! Tell the Captain we'll need to talk on monday…"
