She remembered very clearly the 1st time she felt that ping of jealousy towards Andy, and all the subsequent times.

Amy was the only intruder among a team who knew each other for a long time, including Raydor. Admittedly the whole team hated the Captain, at first, but they knew her. Especially Flynn and Provenza. She suspected them to have worked with her on patrol in their youth but never had a clear answer to that. And if there was one thing Amy hated, it was to feel left out.

The very first time was maybe a year after they all started working together. She had tried many times to get closer to the Captain. She had tried to suggest for them to work out together, they were both runners but every single time she proposed an outing, she was turned down. Not in a mean way, no Raydor was a very nice and polite woman. Still Amy couldn't understand why the older woman asked her on her team and then kept her at arms lengths. One day, as they were about to leave, the Captain came out of her office in shorts, tank-top and ponytail. She had never seen her that casual, or even with her hair up for that matter. "Going somewhere, Captain?" Asked Provenza from across the office, his feet on his desk, his chair balancing precariously. Just at that moment, Flynn came back in a sports outfit too. "As a matter of fact, yes, Lieutenant. Andy asked me to help him to prepare for his next physical so we're going for a hike. We plan to cook some oatmeal muffins and veggie lasagna this weekend, do you want us to bring you some?" She asked with too sweet of a smile. Andy chuckled behind her. Not waiting for the old man to reply, he opened his arm in a clear leading the way manner and they were both out. "Remind me, Sykes, when are you going for your run with the Captain?" Asked Provenza, getting back to his feet and leaving her fuming.

The second time was a few months later, around Valentine's Day. They all went out for a burger to celebrate closing a case. Amy noticed that the Captain had a pair of new earrings and complimented her on them. The older woman explained that she had received them a few days earlier, as a birthday present from her daughter. She said she loved them even though they tend to tangle in her hair. A few minutes later, true to her words, the jewelry caught in her long mane. Tao pointed to Amy's, volunteering her assistance but the Captain declined and moved silently her head toward Andy. The man pulled out with practiced easy the earring from her right earlobe. Carefully, he ran his nails into the piece of hair stuck in it, untangling the mess very efficiently. Amy, and the whole team, were flabbergasted by the action. She couldn't fathom how a man knew that trick, even less how they both could be so comfortable with such an intimate gesture. It clearly wasn't the first time that he got to take care of those earrings. That mere notion was enough to disturb Amy.

The third time came as a surprise. As she was riding with the two older Lieutenants, gazing through the backseat window while the two men argued, as usual, something caught her attention. They must have been bickering about where to eat since Andy said that "He and Sharon" went to breakfast at the little diner around the corner and that Sharon loved the Salmon benedict eggs. She couldn't believe that her Captain would, on a sunday, eat with Flynn. First, he wasn't the brightest, to say the least. He wasn't even the most sympathetic man on the team. To think she had offered multiple outing occasions to their boss who turned her down each time... She was livid!

The fourth time, she wondered if Flynn had gone crazy. As they were all out for lunch, she noticed that Andy was playing with the Captain's hair. Yes, you heard it right. Flynn played with Raydor's hair while sitting side by side, as if it was a normal occurrence. He twisted the tips around his finger, then played with her locks and back to wrapping the tip around his index. And the worst part was that she didn't seem to notice. Yep, the same woman who had a 5m bubble and seemed to have eyes behind her back. She had seen her flinch as soon as a stranger, or even herself approached her. To Amy, it seemed that every touch, every pat she'd witnessed were initiated by Sharon herself. She had this weird bubble (and personality). She was outgoing with others, would touch Buzz's shoulder as she leaned over him or hug a crying mother but would never let others initiate the contact. Except with her children, which seemed all too natural. She liked to be in control. She had built that invisible wall around herself. That's how Amy convinced herself it was because Rusty was on her other side, that the Captain let Andy play with her hair. She must have thought he was the one playing with her hair.

The fifth time gave her pause. After an intense course of self defense where she went a little bit too rough against the Captain and injured the other woman's shoulder, she heard her superior ask Flynn to come in her office and help her remove her sports bra. Flabbergasted, she turned to her teammates, none seemed neither shocked or even surprised. At her stunned look, they all laughed. Looked like everyone knew Flynn and the Captain were together. Except her.
