Chuck vs. The Courtyard Bench

Well, in the previous chapter: Chuck and Morgan give it their all on their Live Friday stream of their YouTube channel Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzball. The excitement is electric to where the crowd and not to mention kids not only go crazy but unhinged as well. As the show is going on Sarah has a heart to heart with Devon to he shares with her an array of things from how he's not who she perceived him to be and how ended up losing his mojo. This would end up causing the new Chief Operating Officer of Westside Medical center to plan a mission of her own. A mission in which she first accepts an offer to go out on the town with Chuck's sister Ellie providing her with the opportunity to gather more intel. Afterwards, she would meet up with Chuck once again to ask him to hang out as friend. It would most definitely be an awkward moment for the both of them. So, what's in store for this chapter? It's family time for Sarah, her mother and little sister Molly? Who gets conned out of money? What funny animal shape is Chuck's hair compared to? Which celebrity does Molly compare Chuck to? Plus, what Poster does see when she finds a video that causes her to ride the quintessential emotional rollercoaster. Read and find out! Anyways, hope you enjoy the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.

Again, if you enjoyed reading my stories and left a comment I truly appreciate it. Please continue to do so as it gives me the incentive to write more chapters.

Down The Rabbit Hole

XXX

It's around 6:35 p.m. Emma and Molly are in the living room watching television on a Friday night. To be more specific, Emma is watching tv on one end of the couch while Molly is glued to her lap top messaging back and forth between her friends on Facebook while at the same time texting on her phone. While sitting there a mere few feet away, it truly amazes Emma how her young daughter is able to multitask and not suffer from any kind of headaches or migraines for that matter constantly looking at 1 screen let alone 2.

In that instance, the thought of possibly scheduling an eye appointment crosses her mind because she has noted as of late that she's been squinting when it comes to reading certain things, especially when it comes to doing homework. Speaking of the 13 year old, she misses her friends since moving from D.C. and of course she would potentially make new friends at school, but it wouldn't truly be the same thing. In her mind, breaking in new friends takes time and a lot of snooping as well.

However, despite the lack of social gatherings didn't diminish the young teenager's attitude one iota. As a matter of fact, she was looking forward to finding out what Los Angeles has to offer other than what it's most famous for other than the Lakers and famous celebrities….the smoggy atmosphere. In any case, the both of them would suddenly find themselves looking towards the front door and hearing a rustling of keys on the other side.

It wouldn't be long before Sarah opens and steps through the door inevitably closing then locking it all in one fell swoop. She drops her keys next to a bowl by the front door, kicks away her black heel toed shoes off to the left side, and slowly shuffles her way towards the couch as if she a little kid. Her black leather business satchel both dangling from the tips of left hand. Shoulders drooping, head back a bit, and faintly making incoherent sounds that a teenager would make namely her younger sister Molly Walker. She then stops right in front of it and then turns to face the flatscreen television across the room. Afterwards, just like her keys in the bowl by the front door, she plops herself down in the middle of couch with her black business satchel laying on the floor between her feet. Her mom and younger sister flanking either side of her.

"So…" Emma began doing a quick survey of the condition of her oldest daughter slumped in the middle of the couch. "…it looks like you had an eventful day?" she added leaning over a bit in order to make eye contact with Sarah.

"You have no idea." she mumbled.

"My poor baby." she retorted in loving mother tone of voice. Her lips pursed together. "You hungry? I saved you a plate."

"What did you make?" she inquired slightly turning her head to give a sideways look to her mother.

"Medium rare steak burger with a side of mashed potatoes, and extra…"

"Extra pickles!" happily chimed in Sarah. Her eyes brightened up after hearing what her mother saved for her to eat after work.

"It's in the fridge. Do you want me to go heat it up for you?"

In that moment, a slowly growing smile appears on Sarah's face. "Yes please. Thank you mommy." she answer in a little kid quasi high pitched voice. A smile shot her way upwards to the woman who gave birth to her.

Emma leans over and kisses Sarah on her forehead and then hops off the couch. She walks towards and eventually disappears out of sight into the kitchen leaving the 2 sisters sitting there on the couch together. As the oldest Walker sibling is watching tv still in a slumped position, she feels herself being stared at causing her to speak up.

"What?"

"Okay, Angelica. This isn't Rugrats. Who are you and what have you done with the real Sarah Walker?" questioned the 13 year old staring at her older sister.

It's at the point, a smirk is expressed on Sarah's face. "It's me brat." She then leans her head forward making sure she's not in close proximity. Afterwards, she turns her head to face her. "Just working mom that's all. You'll learn when you get older. That the circle of life." She whispered to her.

"I do just fine..." she whispered back. "…Nala." added the 13 year old grabbing the pillow next to her and tossing over her head to where it lands or in case hits her big sister on top of the heat."

Sarah is too tired to do anything about it. Instead she takes a deep breath and continues."Really. I know you conned her out of the last 20 bucks she had last week?"

"Conned is such an ugly word." retorted Molly continuing to whisper. "I prefer to say finessed or played mom like a fiddle into giving me her last 20 dollars for lunch." she added taking that moment to flip the left side of light brunette hair up in the air.

"Do you know how I know? It's because that was my last $20 that I gave to her that she gave to you. She said it was for gas money."

In that instance, the 2 sisters sit there staring at each other leading the both of them to come to a sudden realization. "She played the both of us." they both whispered out loud.

"She played...you. I got your $20 out of the deal."

"I know."

In that instance, the 2 Walker sister hear their mother's voice in the kitchen. "What are you two talking about in there?"

This leads to Sarah responded with "Work!" while at the same time Molly hollering out "Boys!" Afterwards, the two siblings share momentarily laughter together leading to their choreographed handshake but without the hip bump ending. Once that ended, Emma emerges out into view within the kitchen and motions for Sarah to have her dinner.

"Come on. So you can go to sleep after since you've had a long day."

For Sarah, it was easy falling back on the couch and staying there briefly not moving an inch like a lazy sloth. It takes a while but she's able to rock her way back into a standing position much to her sister's amusement. After finally reaching the kitchen table, she sits down with her mom sitting next to her just off to her right as she begins eating her food. While doing so, her mother brings up a question.

"What did you do today?"

"Well…" After wolfing down part of her hamburger steak. She takes bite of her extra pickles. She then washes it down with some water. "…Chief Beckman introduced me to more of my new colleagues."

"So what's the verdict?"

"Let me put it to you this way…" she responded turning her head to lock eyes with her mom. "…there's the good, the bad, and the incredibly creepy. Which one should I start with?"

"Creepy!" bellowed out Molly from within the living room.

"I'll go with the bad and good."

"Booooo!" once again bellowed Molly.

"I'm in charge of the hospital next week."

"Wow…" said Emma in absolute disbelief. "…on your 2nd day on the job. That's amazing. How? Why?"

"Beckman's going on a much needed vacation probably with her off and on again boyfriend Roan Montgomery. At least that's the gossip going around Westside Medical Center."

In that instance, Emma shakes her head upon hearing. "Idol gossip. Never a good thing." The single mother of 2 knows that her oldest daughter has done her best to avoid not just gossip but drama as well. Yet, it seems to follow her wherever she goes knowing full well she's worked her to be where she is now. Its that particular thought that concerns her the most. "Do you have any support? You are new after all."

"John Casey. Big guy. I think he's former military and has a tendency to appear and disappear at whim. Also head of security of the hospital. Also…" She pauses to take another but of steak burger with some mashed potatoes on top of it. After swallowing it down she continues on. "…Big Mike. I have to have a meeting with 2 of his orderlies because they're...well bad employees."

"How bad?"

"If they were working for me in D.C. their asses would've been canned in a second."

"Language!"

"Okay Captain America!

"Okay Captain America" repeated Molly in a mocking tone.

"Shut up brat!"

"Again language! My adolescent, virgin ears can't take it."

"Girls." Emma stated in a stern, motherly tone of voice.

As much as Sarah wants to exchange verbal barbs with her younger sister sitting in the living room she decides to just ignore her because she's heard far worse hanging with big sis. She then continues eating her dinner along side her mom keeping her company at the kitchen table all the while sharing once again who she's met thus far today. "Head Nurse Alex Forrest. I think she doesn't like me…as a matter of fact she seems to not like anyone." She added shrugging her shoulders. "Then there's the strange short bearded man Morgan whose best friends with a tall, nerdy looking guy named Chuck."

While sitting next to her daughter she keenly notices and made of aware of something after she mentions the name Chuck. "You just smiled."

Sarah's neck quickly snapped in the direction of where her mother is sitting. "What? You're just seeing things." she stated denying said smile.

"A mother knows. I haven't seen that smile in a long time. Who is this Chuck?"

"Whose Chuck!? Is she firing him?"

"He's a guy I met. His sister and brother-in-law work at the hospital." she hollered back. Her attention now directed back to her mom. "I mentioned to you about them last night after work." A slight nod from Emma acknowledging that fact leading Sarah to go on further. "I may have freaked him out a bit thinking he and the short bearded guy were trespassing. They were standing in the courtyard near the children's medical wing of the hospital after all. Boy was I wrong?"

"How so?"

"They were there to do some YouTube show."

"YouTube!? I heard something about YouTube!"

"What was their show called again…" Sarah said talking out loud to herself. "…Nerdy Nerfsomething and Fuzzy Balls?"

It's at that point both of Emma's eyebrows raise up after hearing that as she witnesses her eldest daughter continue to rack her brain on the correct name of Chuck's YouTube channel. Her momentary concentration on Sarah mumbling to herself is suddenly broken by the sound of her youngest daughter voice in the living room again. "Who has fuzzy balls!? Chuck!? Sounds like he needs to see a doctor!"

"I wonder about her." Emma breathed out slightly shaking her head after hearing that. She would suddenly be shaken out of her focus on Molly by Sarah jumping up all of sudden causing her to be absolutely started.

"Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball!" she bellowed out loudly throwing her hands up.

Emma's right hand is immediately placed against her chest. She can feel her heart beating a mile a minute due to Sarah's outburst. It's then she listens on with what else her daughter is recalling about a certain guy she's denying about making her smile.

"I gotta say mom, the guy's got talent. He can sing and the kids love him. A rockstar in their eyes."

The mother of Sarah and Molly walker is about is about to respond when a lap top is suddenly placed in between the two women. "Found him." confidently stated Molly.

For the better part of an hour, Sarah along with her younger sister and Mother, watched on the flatscreen tv in the living room the entire YouTube show that went live earlier today. From start to finish the 3 women sat there laughing, crying, laughing some more and did some more crying, especially when Chuck shared Camden Willard's story. For Sarah, it was truly an emotional rollercoaster to the point where all 3 ladies needed a box of tissues to get through it all. What would ultimately encapsulate it is Chuck's rendition of Michael Bolton's version of Go The Distance from the movie Hercules.

What she didn't realize at the top was that while watching Chuck on screen, she took notice of his eyes mainly the color of them. Chocolate brown. They seemingly were warm, inviting, and not to mention and soulful. In any case, she lets her thoughts subside as they would find themselves completely immersed in the lyrics, melody, and most importantly the message of the song itself dedicated to young 7 year old Camden. However, this time she would hear it from the beginning instead of tuning right in the halfway point earlier today standing next to Ellie. This time she's sitting next to her mom on the couch while her sister is sitting down below off the right totally transfixed as well.

I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me
Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be

I'll be there someday; I can go the distance
I will find my way if I can be strong
I know every mile would be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back; I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track; no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope till I go the distance
And my journey is complete, oh yeah

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart, oh

Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world; I will face its harms
I don't care how far; I can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms

I will search the world; I will face its harms
Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms

"For my partner in crime Morgan Grimes aka Fuzzball and one of the strongest kids I'm honored to know Camden Willard have an awesome, as well as safe weekend everybody. Don't forget to send your donations to the account set up below. All proceeds you're happily donating to hopefully from the sheer generosity of your heart will go towards expenses to help with these kid's medical treatments and not to mention relieve some of the financial burden for the parents too. Anything helps. With that said, I am the Nerdy Nerfherder Chuck Batowski saying till next time Bartowski Brigade."

The video ends leading to a momentary silence within the living room. The trio of females sitting on the couch are left considerably speechless by what they just watched judging by the way they just turn to each other. Instead of words being verbally expressed an exchanged of sounds would be shared amongst the Walker women. It would end up being Molly who speaks up as she slides forward then spins around in order to face her mom and older sister. Her lap top that was on her lap now placed down on the floor next to her.

"Is that guy for real?" she seriously asked pointing behind her. The still image of Chuck on the YouTube video end screen.

"It seems like it Mol. I can see why the kids see him as a rockstar..." nodded Emma to her young daughter. Her attention then averted to Sarah right next to her. "...as you put it." she added leaning with her right shoulder against Sarah's left.

"I actually feel guilty for misjudging and having some preconceived notions about him." she retorted raising both eyebrows.

"Like what?" questioned Emma.

"He's an entitled rich kid that is able to get away with everything because he's related to 2 well respected doctors and in good with the Chief Administrator."

"Is he?" inquired the curious 13 year old.

"Not in the slightest after talking with his brother-in-law Devon. He's the head surgeon at Westside Medical Center."

"What were you able to find out? Give the deets."

"Chuck's had it rough sis. I mean really rough. Both his parents left leaving his older sister to practically raise him..." she shared shaking her head. A look of heartfelt disbelief can be seen by the new Chief Operating Officer of WMC. "...and to top it off he went through a bad break up in college. His ex Jill cheated with his ex best friend and former roommate Bryce Larkin."

"Which college?" asked Emma.

"Stanford. It messed him up big time. Yet, you wouldn't even know it after watching what we've watched just now." Sarah pauses for a moment then continues on. "In Devon's words, his mojo was taken, especially after he was going to actually propose to her at the end of their junior year. He also referred to that dark time over the summer between his junior and senior year as "Mount Doom"." she further stated in air quotes.

A perplexed expression is seen on Emma's face leading to Molly to clear it up for her. "It's a reference to Lord of the Rings mom." In response, her mom returns a nod of acknowledgment back to her daughter. The 13 year old's attention is then directed back to her older sister who she notices is staring at something or in this particular case someone. She glances over her left shoulder seeing the image of Chuck on their flatscreen. It's at that point, her little sister mentality begins to rear it's annoyingly, twisted head. "You like this guy."

"What? Nahhh. I barely even know the guy."

"You're smiling though." she then glances at her mom. "Mom even saw it. Right mom?"

"Your sister's right. It's been a while since that smile has been seen your face." she stated pointing to her daughters lips. Her attention on Sarah then averted to the flatscreen across the room where Chuck's image is on. "He's seems like a nice boy."

"Yeah, the total opposite of the guys you're usually into." the 13 year old shot back.

"How do you know the type of guys I'm into?"

Molly just stares at her older sister giving her a "really" look. It's at that point, she pops up into a standing position and back up inevitably standing in front of the flatscreen briefly glancing on the image of Chuck on screen. "Not this guy that's for sure. For one thing, his hair is making weird animal shapes." The young teenager then turns her head to where she leans back tilting it from side to side. "I think I see a shape of a rhino in that scraggily, head of curly hair of his."

"Well just know, I'm hanging out with him Sunday night."

In that instance, Molly freezes and then slowly turns around. "Wait. Hold on." she said slowly walking towards her. "You're going on a date with rhino hair?"

In response. Sarah pushes herself off the couch and into a standing position. "First off, it's not a date. Just 2 friends hanging out." she insisted barely looking down at her. "Second, his name is not rhino hair..."

The 13 year old immediately cuts her big sister off. "But you said it yourself. You barely even know the guy." she quickly shot back again looking up at her older sister.

It's then the Walker sister begin to have a "discussion" between the two of them. A discussion that warrants Emma to act fast before another walker sibling war ensues. She launches herself forward from off the couch placing herself between both her daughters. Instantly, she faces Molly instead of Sarah because she knows she can be a bit of an instigator when it comes to getting under her big sister's skin. For her, she knows cooler heads prevail leading her to speak up. "Sarah, go to bed." she calmly told her.

"Mom..."

Emma cuts Sarah off. "You're tired and you've had a stressful day. I know since you called me at around 3 today. I heard it in your voice. Plus, I've seen that look."

"What look?"

"You're wildcard enforcer look. It has stuck with you. I understand it was a necessary requirement for your last position working for your old boss Graham but..." Emma pauses briefly. "...you've left that life behind. Remember. Time to leave that look and her for that matter behind before you do or say something you'll regret. Don't go down that road. You're were lucky to get out when you did. It's for your own good."

Sarah doesn't say a word. She stands there for a moment glaring at her young sister over her mother's left shoulder. Afterwards, she brushes steps back and then forward. The oldest Walker sibling brushes past both of them in order to head up to her room but not before grabbing her black leather business satchel on floor by the couch. When she disappears of out, this leaves Molly staring at then hugging her young daughter who is taking in what her mother just revealed for the first time concerning the apparent nickname she had involving her last job, which she now knows about.

Sarah exits her bedroom bathroom and makes her way to her bed. The only source of light is the lamp on the left side of her night stand illuminating most but not all of her bedroom. She toss some of the pillows behind her on a nearby bench by the sliding door covered by drapes. On the other side, a modest balcony overlooking the inner courtyard with the condo's pillow down several floors down below. In any case, it was a physically and not to mentally draining Friday for her as she slides into bed expressing a sigh of utter exhaustion. After getting comfortably situated in her queen side bed, she knows full well she can't sleep right away so she does the only logical thing and reaches for her tablet that its in her black leather business satchel.

It doesn't take long to retrieve it, turns it on, and after waiting for a few moments to boot up she goes to a fairly new music streaming service called Spotify created 4 years ago in 2006. She is about to log into her account so she can listen to an assortment of songs on her personalized playlist, when she suddenly hears a knock on her bedroom door. She sits there for a moment contemplating either not saying anything at all signifying she wants to be left alone or allowing whoever it is to enter. She chooses the latter. "Yeah?"

The door opens leading Molly to slowly slide in. "Just checking up?"

"Did mom send you?" Her tablet set face down on the top lip of her comforter.

Molly shakes her head. "I'm sorry."

"I know." she briefly pauses then continues. "You have a way of pushing my buttons." Sarah faintly grinned.

In response, the 13 year old expresses a soft grin. She awkwardly stands there at the doorway somewhat undecided if she wants to leave or go. This leads her to young teenager to muster the fortitude to ask a question weighing heavily on her mind. "Is it true?"

"About what?"

"What mom said about your last job? How you were lucky to get out?" she inquired with concerned wonder in her voice. "That look on your face. It scared the shit out of me."

"Language." chuckled Sarah softly.

Unfortunately, Molly doesn't laugh causing her to step forward a bit away from the now open bedroom door. "I'm serious sis. What gives?"

In that moment, Sarah knows she doesn't want to go into full detail as to why they left D.C. and the reasoning behind it. It's a complete mess to try to even sort out for even her to young mind to even understand. So, she does her best to assure her that she's far better off where she is now than where she was back then. "All you have to know is I'm happy and that's it." A smile of loving reassurance towards her little sister.

A brief moment of silence is given off by Molly as she mulls over her big sister's said to her. "Promise?"

"I give you my word..." nodded the eldest Walker sister. "...brat."

After taking a deep breath, she turns around and reaches for Sarah's bedroom door. She is about to head out inevitably closing the door behind her when she pops back in. "Oh, hey."

"What's up?"

"That guy Chuck..." Molly shoots a grin towards her older sister. "...he's no Jenna Marbles."

"Who?"

"YouTube star. Massive following. Comedian and vlogger." Molly quickly shared with her sister. "I can show you on YouTube." she suggested taking a step forward pointing to her tablet.

Molly stops when she sees Sarah lift her hand up. "Nah. I'll take your word for it." Her hand placed and resting on top of her tablet.

Afterwards, Molly takes a quick breath and takes a moment to think then speaks up. "Chuck though. He's different."

"Different how?" wondered Sarah.

"I don't know." she retorted shaking her head. "What I do know is, it just seems like he's a big nerd." The sister share a laugh together after what they know about him via the show on his YouTube channel that happened live earlier in the day. Once the laughter subsides the young women continues on. "If you like him..." She notices her sister is about to respond so she quickly adds on to what she's to say. "...as a friend." she reiterated holding up both hands. "Then don't let me or anyone else stop you from being happy. Ok?" she said flashing a smirk to her.

A warm, heartfelt smirk turns into a smile after hearing that. "Ok."

With that, Molly disappears out her older sister's bedroom door closing it behind her. Afterwards, Sarah checks the time on her nightstand seeing that reads the following time: 9:15 p.m. She lifts her tablet and stares for a few seconds at the Spotify website. It's then she logs out of Spotify and exits out of it. She then searches on her tablet for another website. After doing a quick scan, she finally finds it and clicks on it. YouTube. She types in the following words: Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball.

Her search immediately receives an instant hit to where the first thing she sees is the video of the show that went live earlier today. She clicks on it but before the video starts she instantly spots Chuck's name underneath the video and clicks on it, which impressively has 1.57K subscribers. In doing so, she sees more videos divided in different sections of the YouTube channel itself. For her, she doesn't know where to start so she does the most logical thing and just start from the very beginning. A mission that she just now mentally assigned herself to do.

The idiom going down the rabbit hole is something everyone's heard or said. It's basically a saying that best be described as entering into a situation or being in a process or journey that is particularly strange, problematic, difficult, complex, or chaotic, especially one that becomes increasingly so as it develops or unfolds. The idiom itself correlates to an allusion to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Corrall. This is a true idiom as there ever is one as Sarah herself found herself going down the proverbial rabbit hole of YouTube videos in regards to one Chuck Bartowski. Fortunately for her, she didn't at all deviate and venture off to the weird part of YouTube that would cause anyone to question their own sanity and not to mention mental well-being.

True, when she started from the very beginning of Chuck's videos it was partly short random videos about either non sensical ramblings of a much younger teenage self either by himself in his room. That or with an equally as younger and not to mention beardless Morgan as well. As the videos and the years progressed, the videos would become considerably more well thought out and planned as topics such as video games, comic books, movies, tv and most definitely hour long conversation between the two seemingly life long childhood friends would be posted.

For some reason, she somehow got sucked into watching one of the conversations about why bringing meats such as roast beef on a deserted island is such a bad idea. After watching only 7 minutes of the 25 minute video she would again find herself 4 hours later finally getting to the videos of her mission objective that matched the time frame in the early 2000's of when the "Mount Doom" situation occurred.

There she would watch videos of Chuck during his Stanford days. Campus life living with...hanging out with his frat brothers, the aforementioned ex best friend and roommate Bryce Larkin talking about some game called Zork with him. She would then see her. The infamous ex...Jill. Funny and some intimate moments shared between the two the quad or wherever else. From what she could gather, she's a dark haired beauty with facial features to match. Not overly attractive but still had the girl next door vibe. A possible nerd herself evident by her wearing glasses in 1 or 2 other videos. Of course, there would a big gap in between from the last video posted in early May of 2003 to the one posted in mid-late July of 2003. She found herself staring at a July 2003 video titled Vince Gill - Someday (cover song).

In that moment, she hesitated to click on knowing it would possibly be a dark moment during this time and watching it seemed like she was invading his privacy. However, she made the decision to click on the video nonetheless. In doing so, she suddenly felt herself for some unknown reason holding her breath. Once it started, she forced herself to breathe as the video began. When it does, it only shows a small image of his room, CD's on CD rack in the background, and a what looks like a movie poster with the title TRON on it. After what seemed like forever, a figure appears plopping himself down in the desk chair in full view of the camera.

It's Chuck. A bit young and noticeably disheveled and looking haggard. Its as if he hadn't slept, eaten, or even showered for that matter. The look in his eyes read a mixture of restlessness and defeat, as well as being lost in every sense of the word. She couldn't help but be empathetic towards all that he's going through after knowing most of the story Devon shared with her. After reaching up to place her right hand over her mouth, she hears him suddenly clear his throat then speak up.

"I've got a lot on mind. I don't know what day it is. I don't know what time it is right now. I know its dark outside. I honestly don't know if anybody is going to watch this. Do any of you really care? If you do awesome. If not..." Chuck shrugs ending up cutting himself off. "Anyways, I just needed to get this off my chest." he growled grabbing the chest area of his shirt with his right hand. He leaves it the pressing hard against it. He then releases the hold he's got on it and continues on. Now, that I have I can't think of anything else to do but this. Plus, I'm a fan of Vince Gill not that he's ever going to see this or probably care. Anyways. I pray to God I can get through this. So here goes..."

Sarah watches as Chuck averts his attention momentarily and then reaches over to where she hears a faint click. Then a song starts but no words. In her mind, it must be another instrumental background like the one he player earlier. In that instance, she takes a deep breath once again and watches, as well as listens intently at what he's about to sing. However, before shoes does Sarah pauses the video then reaches over to her right in order to open the drawer of her night stand. After sticking her hard inside and blindly searching for what she needed, the determined blonde finally grabs hold of it. What is it? Earbuds. That way she would be able to listen in private without letting her mom and little sister hear the song itself for own uninterrupted viewing. Once she's ready, she hits play again.

I wipe a tear away
As I give up this day
Wondering if I'll ever find someone
When I close my eyes and dream
These are the words I'm whispering
Someday, love will come.

I won't have a doubt
My head up in the cloud
And certain as the morning sun
I will always believe there is somebody just for me
Someday, love will come.

Someday
After all these nights of waiting
And someday
I'll find a chance worth taking
Saving me
From waking up alone
My heart will find a home
Someday.

It's during a short instrumental musical break in this part of the song, Sarah could clearly see that how much of an emotional toll the break up has taken on him. However, he's keeping it together the best he can. Once the short musical break is over, he begins but this time he closes eyes. It's when he does that, his vulnerability is wide open therefore showing how absolutely exposed he truly was/is in that very moment.

And she'll be so beautiful
The sweetest miracle
Someday, love will come.

Someday
After all these nights of waiting
And someday
I'll find a chance worth taking
Saving me
From waking up alone
My heart will find a home
Someday.

And when I close my eyes and dream
These are the words I'm whispering
Someday, love will come
Someday, love will come.

When the song ends Chuck is clearly seen possibly mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. He slumps back in his desk chair looking up at the ceiling of his room. He reaches up with both hands covering his face. They stay there for a moment then slide up his to his unkempt hair and starts raking through it slowly then aggressively. A mixture of fatigue and frustration in his actions. He suddenly leans forward to where his left hand slams atop the desk with such force behind it that it actually shakes the camera. A few seconds later, the video ends with her sitting there in silence. The earbuds removed from her ears after tugging at them.

For Sarah, all throughout the video of Chuck pouring his heart and soul out to potentially no one or just God himself. She, on the other hand, was completely glued to the screen. Hanging on every word, lyric and note. Her own emotions having gone through a rollercoaster of ups and downs certainly brought more ups even though a few tears were able to escape down her cheeks before wiping the away with her hands. In her mind, despite the sadness conveyed by him singing in that video she can't help but have a soft smile on her face. The cover song he sang left an indelibly negative and positive impact on her. Negative that it made her angry for what Jill did to him.

Granted, it was more so positive than anything else as it, in a way, led him to a deeply meaningful purpose that's truly honorable. As for her, what it also left is an indescribable feeling that she's never felt before. Her thoughts concerning that feeling would suddenly be broken when she looks at the time on her tablet then turns her head to confirm the time on her clock...2:35 a.m. Fortunately for her its the weekend and she can sleep in. It's at that point, she forces herself to go to sleep as she carefully places her tablet along with the headphones she used off to the side on top of the nightstand. She then turns off the lights and tucks herself into bed knowing that there's more to Chuck Bartowski than meets the eye. In her minds, she hopes to find out a lot more tomorrow night and the following Sunday she thinks to herself. It's that last momentary thought in which she slowly drifts off into a seemingly peaceful unconscious state.
