Chuck vs. The Courtyard Bench

Well, in the previous chapter: Dr. Dreyfus helps Sarah work out her issues, especially when it involves a non sexual dream about Chuck. However, it turns out it isn't about Chuck at all. It's about her father and the underlying issues about abandonment. With his help, she's able to work them out to where she feels a whole lot better, especially after opening the floodgates emotionally leaving her tears. So what's in store for this chapter. What song does Chuck start off with that it relates to his and Morgan's childhood? Why does everybody end up becoming speechless after Chuck sings? How does everybody react when Casey brings up a part of his past? Who ends up showing making appearance that blows everybody's mind in the courtyard of Westside Medical Center? When will Sarah and Chuck say they I love you to each other? Read and find out! Anyways, hope you enjoy the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.

Again, if you enjoyed reading my stories and left a comment I truly appreciate it. Please continue to do so as it gives me the incentive to write more chapters.

I don't own Chuck.

Carry On My Wayward Son

XXX

It's moments before showtime for Bash At The Bench and Chuck is sitting on the side of the camera stage facing the main the main stage expressing a mixture of pensive, nervousness. He is also biting the finger nails on his left hand while staring at his phone that's clutched in his right hand. Ever since sending out the message to Vinnie Jones and anyone that's remotely associated, as well as in contact with him, he hasn't gotten an answer back, which causing him to worry. In his mind, it would most definitely be awesome to get a celebrity such as the man who played Juggernaut in X-Men: Last Stand for his biggest fan, Everette Conway. His thoughts are swirling all over the place when all of sudden a hand is softly placed on his left knee, causing him to look at an elegant, well manicured hand of a female. Who it's attached to?

"Sarah..." he breathed out. "...hey."

"You okay? You look like Nick Cage..." observed the Chief Operating Officer of Westside Medical Center. "...in a crazy, psychotic state." she added, reaching up rub her nerd's left forearm.

"In all of his movies or just in regular life?" questioned Chuck, quirking his right brow.

"You got me there." smirked Sarah, attempting to lighten the tension filled atmosphere surrounding him.

The youngest Bartowski sibling shrugs his shoulder. "It works for him. Me..." he answers back, holding up his phone looking flustered and frazzled. "...not so much." A hint of a smile is expressed on his face, but that would soon fade. After taking a quick but deep breath, he continues speaking. "Vinnie Jones hasn't responded back. I want this to be awesome for Conway's son, Everette. Something for him to remember for as long as he lives." He briefly pauses for a second then continues on. "You know, this is the one Bash At The Bench where I find myself actually nervous."

Chuck shakes his head then reaches up with his left hand in order to rub the back of his neck. A look of apprehensiveness, anxiety, and not to mention considerable doubt is setting in, all leading him to potentially suffer a panic attack so close to the start of Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball YouTube show. Of course, it would most definitely not be an awesome sight for him to just completely freak out to the point where everybody notices in the courtyard, in the hospital, those watching wherever and especially the kids of Westside Medical Center. To him, the mindset he's always locked on to is that it's always been and will be for the kids. He's just the nerdy individuals who is lucky enough to spotlight how incredibly special each one of them truly are, he thinks to himself.

As for Sarah, she is standing considerably close to the man that has stolen her heart and at the same time feels how wound up her nerd is. This leads the beautiful and proud nerd she considers herself to be, takes some drastic measures before Chuck ends up completely spiraling making him emotionally, physically, as well as mentally incapable to do the show at all, she thinks to herself. She reaches out, captures his head firmly in between her hands, then moves it towards her to where they end up locking lips. For an instant, it takes Chuck completely by surprise but then he gradually succumbs to lip lock planted on him, seemingly out of nowhere. Afterwards, it's Sarah who separates herself from her nerd's lips and sees the oh so familiar goofy expression that she been so used to seeing.

"Feel better?" she softly said.

"Awesome." he breathed out, continuing to express the goofy smile towards her.

The moment between the two would suddenly be interrupted by high pitched cheers and squeals. It leads Sarah and Chuck to turn their attention to the source of the aforementioned high pitched cheers and squeals, which are coming from the kids who apparently witnessed the whole thing between the two of them. Plus, the nurses along with countless other people standing in the courtyard who may have noticed as well. The two are somewhat embarrassed as they both wave to the gaggle of super delighted kids who saw Chuck and Sarah kissing. Out in public, no less. Thankfully, it wasn't on camera but make no mistake about it that a number of them captured video of the make out session, which will be uploaded to their social media. In any case, their unfortunate embarrassment would have Sarah turn her head back to Chuck who is seemingly still on a high from her kiss.

"Chuck."

"Yes."

"I..."

Unfortunately, she's interrupted by Morgan hopping on the camera stage and then kneeling down right by Chuck. "You ready, buddy?"

"Now I am, Morg." he answered, briefly glancing behind him. "Thanks to Sarah." added Chuck, expressing a toothy smile towards her.

"I know, dude. We all know." mused Morgan, shaking his head.

It's that that point Chief Beckman approaches with Casey standing right behind her. "Mr. Bartowski…" Her attention then turns to her 2nd in command. "...Chief Walker."

"Chief" the two respond back in unison.

"Let's get the show started. I look forward to what it's in store for today's Bash At The Bench." nodded Chief Beckman, with a smile. She then averts her attention from Chuck to the cameraman. "Mr. Grimes! Count us down!" she firmly announced, to the bearded man kneeling next to Sarah and Chuck.

"Yes Chief...ma'am. Chief ma'am, sir." he stammered back, suddenly saluting the Chief Administrator of the entire hospital.

"It's showtime. Morgan, hit it." smiled Chuck, pushing himself off the edge of the camera stage.

"You got it. Chuckles!" responded Morgan, taking his position behind the camera. He then hits the ENTER key of Chuck's laptop.

After giving a quick wink to Sarah then a nod to Chief Beckman and Casey, he heads off towards the stage much to the delight of the crowd, but more importantly the delight of the kids. A few moments later, Chuck stands front and center on the stage and addresses the crowd. He's not alone as Jeffster is there with him as Jeff is playing guitar and keyboard with Lester behind the drums. After giving them the nod, he turns his focus to the crowd who are amped up.

"WHAT'S UP BARTOWSKI BRIGADE!" His enthusiastic and always energetic call out livens up the already unhinged crowd that's been eagerly, as well as patiently waiting for the show to start. After hamming it up for the crowd as usual in his own crazy and nerdy way, he then makes the attempt to settle down the crowd. It fails the first time but he's able to finally do it after his second attempt. "Today, I want to dedicate this song..." Chuck turns his attention to his right to the group of kids who expressed high pitched squeals earlier after witnessing the kiss between him and Sarah. "...to all you guys. You have a power within yourself that is absolutely amazing. A power that I can only fathom in which you have that unexplainable touch to tap into your inner strength that keeps you going, no matter how much pain you're going through. It's impossible to describe for someone like myself or anyone here and watching right now to even understand. Yet, we support, cheer, and root you on despite that. " he shared, shaking head in absolute disbelief. "So, in honor of you guys I'm singing a song that has resonated or continues to resonate with me and Fuzzball over there behind the camera from childhood to now. You're too young to know this or seen this 1984 animated movie called Transformers: The Movie. The Song is "You Got The Touch" by the great Stan Bush and I'll be singing my own cover version of it." It doesn't take long for Chuck to give a nod to Jeff who plays the keys to the start off a familiar melody to a song from the 80's while he stands for the time being behind the mic stand.

You've got the touch
You've got the power
YEEEAHHHHHHHHH!

Once Jeff's brief guitar solo hits and Lester starts banging the drums, the courtyard starts rocking out leading Chuck to no longer feel the mixture of emotions that he was feeling earlier. Now, the adrenaline is pumping and like past performances he is putting everything and then some into what's he's going to sing, but more so than usual. Why? To him, he wants to elevate and surpass his last performance to the point where he can look back on it and think to himself, I left it all on that stage or bench before the stage was implanted. While standing there holding the mic in his left hand and part of the mic stand in right hand, he momentarily closes his eyes and certainly feels the electricity of the crowd to where the hairs on his arms, as well as the back of his neck stand up/out. It's that electricity in which he can't help but smell as he opens up his eyes and starts belting out the next course of the song.

After all is said and done
You've never walk, you've never run
You're a winner,
You got the moves

You know the streets, break the rules
Take the heat, you're nobody's fool

You're at your best when the going gets rough
You've been put to the test but it's never enough

You got the touch
You got the power

When all hell's breaking loose
You'll be right in the eye of the storm
You got the heart, you got the motion
You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

It's at that point Jeff steps out and rifts his guitar solo. As he does, Chuck rips out the mic from the mic stand then suddenly jumps off stage and heads stage right directly towards the group of kids, along with the nurses who escorted/accompanied them there, are losing their minds seeing him come their way. Mostly the kids and Alex who is throwing up the rock and roll sign. It's a sight to behold with the group of kids and nurses either just going completely bonkers at the all out showmanship that they're privileged enough to be watching, especially for Sarah who is proudly screaming her head off for her nerd. In any case, Jeff's guitar solo, although brief, it signals Chuck to begin singing the next set of lyrics as he approaches, then stands in front of the kids/nurses.

You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter, it's in the blood
It's in the will, it's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground

And you never give in when you're back's to the wall
Gonna fight till the end and you're taking it all

You got the touch
You got the power

Both times, Chuck points the mic to the group of kids and nurses who would repeat the 2 lyric lines back by screaming it back to him at the top of the lungs. Each time is considered such a tremendously surreal experience for the nerd who can't help but smile knowing it's one of those moments he's going to remember for years to come. Afterwards, he takes a quick moment to reach out for high fives and the kids are so ecstatic that a number of them reciprocate by high fiving him back whereas others who are unable to simply do an air hive. For the kids who weren't able to get the aforementioned high five, they do get a point from Chuck signifying the fact that even though he couldn't get to all of them he acknowledges every last one of the kids who wanted one before heading back on stage. As he's heading back, he continues on with the next part of the song.

When all hell's breaking loose
You'll be right in the eye of the storm
You got the heart, you got the motion
You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

You're fighting fire with fire
You know you got the touch

You got the touch
You got the power

It's the last note of the last word of the song that Chuck belts out a Freddy Mercury high note that catches everybody in the courtyard completely off guard. It's a high note that not only the front man for Queen can certainly be impressively astounded at, but Sarah along with Chief Beckman, Casey, and the entire crowd watching/listening are left absolutely amazed at what they just heard. Yet, it wasn't just how high the note was as it was how long he was able to hold it that causes Sarah, Beckman, Morgan, Jeffster and even the crowd itself to look at each other in shocked surprise. Once the initial shock is over, the place erupts causing the noisy courtyard to become even louder than it already is. It couldn't be possible. Yet, it is as the song/performance comes to an end with Jeff's guitar solo then Chuck capping it off by sticking the mic back into the mic stand to where he grabs it inevitably raising up in the air with his right hand somewhat out of breath. Afterwards he takes a bow then acknowledges Jeff and Lester for their assistance.

"Holy Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Batman." stated Morgan, shaking his head in absolute disbelief. "Where did that come from?"

There is a momentary break before the next set happens. It's during the much needed break, Chuck is taking a swig of bottled water and after gulping it down the elixir of life he breathes out a sigh of sweet satisfaction to where he savors ever last bit of it. Afterwards, he turns his attention to his bearded best friend and not mention hetero life partner according to him, Morgan Grimes.

"I have no idea, Morg." he replied, expressing a mixture of shocked disbelief. "I just gave it all I got on that last note and that's what came out. It was like I was having an out of body experience in that final moment. I was turned up to an 11."

"Spinal Tap reference. Awesome. Listen though. What I saw and heard from where I..." he said, briefly glancing around the inner circle of individuals gathered around Chuck. "...we were standing...that was way more than being turned up to an 11."

"I concur with Mr. Grimes." chimed in Chief Beckman. After taking a moment to take in all that she just witnessed coming from the man standing in front of her, she continues on. "Mr. Bartowski."

"Chief."

"It never ceases to amaze me how you have this constant knack of always taking me by surprise." she stated, crossing her arms.

"Is that a good thing?" wondered Chuck, with his eyebrows raised and a faint smirk expressed.

For Chief Beckman, ever since being introduced to Chuck by way of his older sister Dr. Eleanor Bartowski, she had the tendency to make the mistake early on of truly underestimating the youngest Bartowski sibling. Of course, when he first appeared in Westside Medical Center and by all accounts was forced to tag along with his sister at work in order to get out of the house after his unfortunate break up, she had initial reservations. However, it was until she got reports from nursing staff in the children's hospital that he's having a positive effect on them to the point where there's been an adverse change in the overall atmosphere. An atmosphere where there was suddenly a tremendous shift in the attitude and demeanor of every child going through some form of cancer that caused them to look forward to seeing his face every time he stops by to see each one of them.

In her mind, her initial judgement at the very beginning was considerably persuaded by having Emmitt in her ear and being constantly told by him that it would be a big mistake allowing him to be on hospital grounds. The litigation and tons of lawsuits that she could potentially face if he causes any sort of damage or irreparable harm to any of the kids who are facing treatment was deemed by him a huge risk. However, she took that risk and it nearly bit her in the ass. Fortunately, the powers that be, namely the Board of Directors, saw fit to give Chuck the chance because it would give the hospital a rather unique style to where it was able to stand out amongst the rest of the hospitals in the area. Years later, the risk she took back than on a heartbroken nerd ended up paying off big time, she thinks to herself.

"Let's just say you make me believe that there are angels out there who are sent to this Earth from God, who do His good work." nodded Chief Beckman, expressing a soft grin towards him.

In that instance, Sarah chimes in. "Chief's right, Chuck."

"That I'm actually an angel? Seriously!? Like Michael Landon from the classic series Highway To Heaven angel? Or John Travolta from the movie Michael angel? Either way, I'll take it as a compliment." he retorted, expressing his toothy smile.

"No..." responded Sarah, shaking her head. "...just an angel. An amazingly nerdy angel with hair that makes funny animal shapes." she added, reaching up to twirl his untamed brown locks with the tip of her fingernails of her right hand. "An angel who has the ability to make people smile and laugh by just being in his presence."

"Stop it." responded Chuck in embarrassment, waving off the compliment.

"Take the compliment." barked Casey, interjecting himself into the conversation. "You did good, Bartowski."

"Thanks Casey..." nodded Chuck to the Head of Security of Westside Medical Center. "...especially coming from you."

"I call it like I see it. Impressive."

"For real? You're not about to hand me your usual Casey-esque insults or threats for that matter?"

"Negative."

"That's mighty commendable of you, big guy..." stated Morgan, expressing a bit of surprise on his part. "...and not like you. Who are you and what have you done with the real Casey?"

Casey ignores Morgan and returns his attention back to Chuck. Westside Medical Center's head of security then speaks up. "I think that was a High C you pulled off."

"How do you know?" wondered Sarah, quirking her right brow towards her hulking partner.

There is a brief moment of silence within the inner circle as Casey all of sudden belts out a High C from seemingly out of nowhere causing everybody to snap their heads to look at him. After what seemed like forever, the hulking head of Security for Westside Medical Center gives his response.

"Choir Boy." grunted Casey. It causes a mixture of expressions that culminate into each individual being rendered momentarily speechless as all they can really do is shoot blank stares towards him. "What? I wasn't hatched." he added, with a bit of a soft growl.

It's at that point, Chuck shakes his head inevitably forcing him to break his stunned silence amongst the individuals standing at the camera area stage. "All righty then. On that note..." he stated, pointing out the sheer literal irony of it all. "...time for me to interview this week's Rockstar Rebel." Chuck added, taking a quick swig of his bottle of water before heading off.

XXX

"Ladies and gentlemen"...Chuck announced into the mic, standing in front of the blue courtyard bench. "...this week's Rockstar Rebel personifies having a warrior's heart. From what I was able to find out this kid has personally endured a painful gamble of tests and chemotherapy being diagnosed with liver cancer. The proper medical term for it is Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Stage 3. Fortunately for him, the cancer hasn't spread to any parts of his organs so that's awesome news right there." he further shared, then proceeded to clap afterwards.

The crowd claps as well to the point of expressing cheers, whistles, and everything in between after hearing that part of considerably good news. Once things settle down, Chuck continues on.

"Although he's small for his age at 11 years old, he's considered an unstoppable giant. A force to be reckoned with. At least that's what I'm told, so I'm making sure not to get in his way." he proclaimed, holding up his hands in front of him. "Oh, one more thing. He's a big fan of the X-Men and what do you know, so am I. I think we're going to make awesome friends just because of that right there. So, without further ado, let's all say hello to this week's choice for Rockstar Rebel..." he announced, expressing a proud smile on his face. "...Everette Conway!"

It's at that point, Morgan directs the camera to Everette who is standing by his mom and after peering up at her, she nods with a proud smile on her face. She's also clearly emotional as she encourages her son to go ahead all-while blowing kisses to him and waving to him. It's not long before Everette shuffles his way towards Chuck standing in front of the blue bench. He's a bit shy at first but after seeing Chuck reach for a fist tap, he reciprocates it and then notices the tall man stick his right hand out for a high five. In that instance, the 11 year old's shyness suddenly vanishes leading him to rear back and give Chuck the hardest high back to the host of the widely popular YouTube show Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball. In response, Chuck plays it off pretending to be hurt and then motions for him to sit down. Once he's seated, the nerdy host starts the interview with the young man.

"What's up Everette! You're such a strong kid, dude. I think you nearly broke my hand there." he stated, shakes his right hand as if shaking off the pain.

In response, Everette can't help but express laughter and a noteworthy smile afterwards. "I guess I don't know my own strength." shrugged the 11 year old, speaking into Chuck's mic.

"I guess not. So, I've heard what you're dealing with. I want to know..." Chuck said, getting a bit serious in his tone of voice. "...are you doing okay? How do you feel?"

"Good. It stinks what I got, but do you know what makes me feel better?" he answered, speaking into the mic once again.

"What's that, buddy?"

"Watching X-Men."

"I know and I can see by the shirt you're wearing that you're a big fan." the nerd responded back. "Tell me, who is your favorite X-Men character. Me, I'm a big Wolverine guy. The adamantium claws and the healing factor is the reason why he's the coolest out of all the X-Men."

"He's not the coolest. I know who is the coolest X-Men and he can beat up Wolverine."

"No way." The nerdy host looks at him with an expression of unbelief.

"Yes way, Chuck." firmly nodded 11 yr old Everette.

"Who can beat up Wolverine then?"

"Juggernaut."

"That's a big dude, Juggernaut."

"Guess what."

"What?"

"Juggernaut is my nickname."

"Really!? That's awesome. That's what the nurses told me and you know what..." Chuck leans back a bit, taking a moment to squint a bit for added effect. "... I can see it. So, did you give yourself that nickname?"

For Chuck, he is intentionally directing his line of questioning in order to get him to reveal that it's his father that he dubbed him Juggernaut. It's a way of craftily getting to where he wants to go without actually knowing what he knows after speaking with his father last Friday. In any case, he knows that after throwing out that particular question concerning his nickname it's only a matter of time before he takes the bait, he thinks to himself.

"My dad. He works a lot though. I live with my mom." the young man replied back, then looks behind him at his mom.

It's at that point, Chuck motions for his Everette's mom to join her son on the blue bench. "Hey Mom, my name is Chuck."

"Hi Chuck, I'm Desiree Morris. I want to thank you for picking my son as the next choice for Rockstar Rebel." He peers down at her son then reaches up to rub the top of his head. "With all the pain he's been through because of the cancer, X-Men is thankfully a helpful distraction from it all."

"So, you and your husband..."

"We're not together..." Desiree chimed in pausing briefly before continuing on. "...but that doesn't mean he's an awful dad. Far from it. Even though his job came first, his focus has always been Everette. He spends time with him on the weekends watching Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball on YouTube. Plus, his favorite movie."

"X-Men: Last Stand!" happily chimed in Everette.

"Speaking of X-Men: Last stand..." Chuck points out focusing on what's he's about to reveal. "...I know that you're a big fan of Juggernaut and I'm guessing you have all the toys. Right?"

"Yes sir."

Chuck is about to correct him but decides against it. He continues on. "Well, myself and my friends Morgan and Kathleen did our very best to contact the man who played Juggernaut in the X-Men: The Last Stand."

Instantly, Everette's eyes go completely wide to the point of popping out of their sockets. "Is he here!?" he excitedly shouted, shooting up into a standing position. He frantically looks around to see where he is.

"Listen big guy..." Chuck's attempts to calm down the young man fail, but his mother is able to wrangle him in her own motherly way. Afterwards, she has him in a more focused, calm and subdued state as she nods at the man who is making her son's dreams come true. "...Listen, I...we...did our best to contact the guy who plays Juggernaut. Vinnie Jones. We even contacted anyone who remotely knows or works for or with him." In that moment, Chuck can suddenly sees the light in Everette's eyes start to fade causing him to experience heartbreak for him. After taking a deep breath, he keeps going. "I..."

All of sudden, the sound of a cell phone goes off causing everyone within the courtyard including Chuck to check their phone. The source of the ring is Chuck's because of the distinct ringtone. The theme song to the X-Men. Now his eyes go completely wide as he shows his phone screen to Everette who is about to explode with happiness along with his mother Desiree. This causes excitement within the courtyard but it would quickly be silenced by Chuck signaling that he's going to answer it. After taking a deep breath, he does just that, but instead of putting up to his ear, he presses the speaker phone button and places the mic on it for everybody to hear.

"Hello?"

"Oy. Is this Chuck Bartowski? The bloke who has been trying to reach me?"

"Yes sir. Who may I ask is calling?" he nervously asked.

"Vinnie Jones."

At this point, everybody is containing themselves the best they possibly can as Chuck has the actor himself on the phone. As much as he wants to save the number in case it's actually his number, that's not his main priority. His main priority is to give the best gift for Everette on his day as this week's Rockstar Rebel for him to always remember as long as he lives. His thoughts are quickly set aside as he hears the voice of Vinnie Jones once again.

"I hear ya been trying get me on the blower because of fan you have on your chat show on YouTube is it."

"Blower?"

"How do you yanks put it? Phone. Calling me on the phone."

"Oh, Yes sir. Sorry by the way, but I assure you it's a worthy cause. I promise. His name is Everette Conway!" called out Chuck, who then points his phone over to the 11 year old. "Say hello." he whispered over to him.

"Hi Juggernaut!"

"Who's that? A hear a hooligan?"

"It's me, Everette. Mr. Juggernaut."

The sound of laughter is heard on the other end of the line. Afterwards, Vinnie Jones speaks up. "So Everette, you're my biggest fan, eh?"

"The biggest!"

"Okay, listen up. Since you consider yourself my biggest fan what I'm going to do is..."

Suddenly the line is disconnected leading everybody including Chuck, Everette, and his mother Desiree to express heartbreak and disappointment. "No. No. Noooo. No. No. No." the nerdy host stammered out.

The buzz of electricity flowing within the courtyard suddenly disappears after the call coming from Vinnie Jones himself has been lost. In it's place is an eerie silence that resonates throughout the crowd who come to the same unfortunate realization that's hitting Chuck right now. Speaking of Chuck, he can't help thinking in that moment they've come this close and too far to not bestow the most awesome and not to mention memorable Bash At The Bench history. His attention then falls on Sarah, Morgan, and Chief Beckman who are expressing a mixture of disappointment and heartbreak. Casey, on the other hand, is completely stone faced. In that instance, he begins shaking his head because he doesn't want to believe that this is how it ends up leading him to have the determination to do something about it.

"No, not like this. Not today of all days." proclaimed Chuck muttering to himself, then pressing redial. The outright determination on his face says it all as he waits for the other end of the line to pick. Unfortunately, the person he's trying to reach is not picking up causing him to briefly close his eyes then momentarily hang his head. Afterwards, he lifts his head and opens his eyes to where he directs his attention to 11 year old Everette who he can see even though had the biggest opportunity to talk to Juggernaut aka Vinnie Jones even just for a brief moment, he's smiling.

"You okay? You're not sad at all for not being able to have more time to talk to Juggernaut on the phone?"

"It's awesome!" he shouted, jumping up and down with joy. "He said my name too!" Everette added, quickly turning around to hug his mom.

While standing there witnessing the pure, genuinely euphoric joy Everette is experiencing, he comes to the sudden realization that a child's mindset is totally different than adults. Although what matters most is otherwise insignificant than just experiencing a small taste of something turns out to be tremendously huge in the eyes of a child. A truly valuable lesson to be learned he thinks to himself. It's at that point, a soft smile breaks out and as he's about to speak up and saying something to Everette, a loud voice is heard.

"Oy! I thought this was a party!"

It's a voice that suddenly emerges from out of and truly unbeknownst to the crowd itself causing a delayed reaction. A delayed reaction that Chuck now becomes highly aware of as he's absolutely wide eyed to the point of his eyes popping out of its sockets.

"Vinnie Jones!" called out Chuck, in a sort of high pitch girlish scream. "Oh my God! You're here! He's here!" he added, freaking out being a fan as well.

The announcement of the actor's name causes the courtyard to suddenly erupt in all out celebration upon realizing that the man himself has actually showed in person and is walking towards Chuck, Everette and Desiree, now standing there in surprised awe and shock by the blue bench.

Chuck is about greet Vinnie Jones when all of a sudden he's tackled and enveloped in a hug by 11 year old Everette much to the look of horror on his mother's face. Fortunately, the actor who played the character of Juggernaut takes it all in stride as he bends down to hug his biggest fan back. Afterwards, he turns his attention to the tall, slenderish looking man standing in front of him.

"How? What?" wondered Chuck, in confused disbelief.

Vinnie Jones leans in placing his right hand on Chuck's right shoulder and whispers into Chuck's right ear. "Just wanted to make it interesting for ya, mate. No hard feelings, yah?"

Afterwards, Vinnie James slaps the upper right arm of Chuck causing him to wince a bit due to how hard he slapped him. It's not long before Chuck just smiles as he steps back taking the sight in front of him of a 11 year old going completely bonkers. His mother deeply emotional to the point of tears along most of the crowd in the courtyard. He breathes out a deep satisfying sense of relief as he shakes his head knowing all the hard work and effort to make this awesome surprise happen actually did happen, he thinks to himself.

XXX

"I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" hollered out Vinnie Jones, giving his character's most famous line in X-Men: The Last Stand

"Awesome!" happily shouted Everette, absolutely ecstatic over his favorite line of the movie.

The crowd agrees as well erupting in applause, hoots, hollers, and Arsenio Hall fist whoops celebrations. After the mixed celebration subsides, Chuck continues on.

"Awesome." breathed out Chuck in a toothy smile.

It's suddenly dawns on him that he's was just fanboying, being the nerd that he is. He immediately snaps back into host mode. Chuck during the short break period spoke with his beaded best friend concerning what's about to happen. That moment just before the aforementioned Vinnie Jones uttered led Chuck to signal Morgan in order for him to briefly mute the video broadcast feed just for that moment. It was also during that short break period in which he was able to check his text messages. He received a number of them from Ellie, Devon, Hartley, Vivian, Kathleen, Emma, Molly...just to name a few concerning the ending high note. All messaging about it consisting of one or three words that weren't necessarily suitable for younger viewing.

In any case, the nerdy host looks over at the group of kids and then informs the nursing staff that accompanied the kids to uncover their ears, which they end up doing. "Okay, thanks Vinnie Jones. That was awesome for us adults in here. Just covering all our bases since this is a kid friendly show after all. Anyways..." The nerdy host of Nerfherder and Fuzzball then quickly changes the topic." I know Everette enjoyed that very much and is very thankful as well. I also know he will enjoy the autograph poster of your character along with the signed autographs of all the cast members of X-Men: Last Stand. Plus, taking a picture with him to boot. You are one lucky kid."

"He is." proudly declared Desiree, hugging her son. "Thank you so much for doing this for him." she added, deeply emotional and trying to keep it together.

"You're welcome." nodded Chuck. "It was a team effort. It's not over yet. As you know, in honor of every Rockstar Rebel that's been chosen I sing a song to him or her. As I always say, the songs I choose somehow always fit when it comes to the Rockstar Rebel. This song is actually the main theme to a little show called Supernatural on the CW. It stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki otherwise known as Sam and Dean Winchester. The Band is Kansas and the song it entitled "Carry On My Wayword Son." He's about to head off and up to the stage but then stops directing his attention back to Everette. "I know you and your dad are tight. I have a feeling he's watching right now and so very proud of you. Plus, I'm certain that your dad would also dedicate it to you as well." he smiled, turning out and making his way up the stage.

It does take long for Chuck to get situation as he's suddenly joined by Jeff and Lester once again. This time Chuck is joined by Jeff while Lester is position at the drums. A few seconds later, the nerdy host then turns sideways a bit as he gives a nod towards Lester leading all 3 men to sing acapella the first 4 lines of the song.

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Afterwards, the sound of the beating drums start by Lester segueing into Jeff's stellar guitar solo. While this is going on, Chuck stands there by Jeff doing some air guitar of his own and then points at the much older orderly who is killing it evident by the loud cheers of the crowd. Chuck then points to Lester who is most definitely on point as the Canadian Hinjew does his drum parts to the song to where he also does a bit of air drumming as well. Once again, the crowd is into it as the buzz of excitement mixed in with the electric atmosphere that was felt earlier in the show returns signifying that something magical, as well as special has just taken place that will forever live in Nerdy Nerdherder and Fuzzball history for years to come.

Ah

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming,
I can hear them say

Carry on my wayward son,
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Jeffster take over once again during the break in the song and having an absolute blast while doing it. As for Chuck, he's just standing there transfixed on the sheer focus Jeff and Lester are exuding that it's considered absolutely impressive. In that brief moment, he hams it up for the crowd by turning around and thumbing to both them over his right shoulder giving two thumbs up as if to ask the crowd if they're doing an awesome job. The crowd's response is an emphatic yes as loud cheers are expressed back so much so he seemingly could feel it like an impactful wave hitting him, which is an experience unlike any other. Fortunately, Chuck doesn't get lost in the moment as he readies himself then resumes the next set of lyrics to the song.

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man,
Well, it surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune,
But I hear the voices say

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more, no!

The enigmatic duo known as Jeffster do their part and are on fire keeping the courtyard rocking to the beat of the music. As for Chuck, he's working up the crowd even more than they already are as he does the whole Hulk Hogan ear to the crowd deal. He first goes stage right and points to that side of the crowd who express a loud roar. The youngest Bartowski sibling then hits center stage pointing at the crowd in front of him who scream their heads off. Afterwards, he heads stage left pointing to the crowd with his right finger and having his left hand placed against right ear. He doesn't even reach the end of the left side of the stage yet when he's suddenly bombarded with the much louder screams and cheers. It's music to the nerdy host and singer's ears as he returns to center stage and resumes singing the next set of lines.

Carry on,
You will always remember
Carry on,
Nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry,
Don't you cry no more,

No more!

It's at the point, Chuck turns around and signals for Jeff and Lester to stop playing altogether. He then turns around and takes a small moment leading the crowd to suddenly fall into a gradual hush. A few seconds of silence later, he does the first line of the stanza acapella once again.

Carry on my wayward son

However, when he reaches the second line of the stanza he sticks the mic back into the mic stand, grabs it and points it out directly out into the crowd. He then points to the crowd to sing, which they do.

There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry,
Don't you cry no more.

It's something to behold as an angelically thunderous acapella of the last 4 repeated line of the song echo within the courtyard of Westside Medical Center all seemingly in melodic harmony together, which is considerably breathtaking to hear for anyone watching on YouTube or Television. As for Chuck, it's a moment that takes hold of him so much so that it causes him to become considerably emotional, but doesn't lead him to cry. Not yet anyway. Instead, he just places his left hand over his heart whereby telling the crowd how awesome they truly are. Once the last word is sung in acapella the place erupts with loud applause. So loud, it's hard to even think because Chuck along with Jeff and Lester brought the house or in this case the courtyard completely down. It would lead the 3 men to stand center stage together and take a bow. As they do, Chuck suddenly feels a vibration to where he retrieves his phone from his right front pocket. It's a text message that he received. A text message sent from Conway. He opens it up and he reads the message that simply consist of only two words: Thank You.

In response, Chuck just smiles but his attention would be directed back to the celebration by Jeffster who suddenly tear off their shirts and start swinging them over their head. At this point, he can only shake his head in amusement after all that's happened or nearly didn't happen, he thinks to himself. His attention on Jeff and Lester would then be turned out into the crowd as they continue celebrating leading him to focus on the groups of kids who going completely bananas including Alex with the rest of the nursing staff assigned to them. He then directs his focus over to Morgan who just points it him then giving him a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Chief Beckman simply gives a nod of approval acknowledging his efforts whereas Casey is still stone faced. However, when his eyes fall on Sarah she simply blows a kiss towards him, which is all that needs to be said without even saying a word.
