Chuck vs. The Courtyard Bench
Well, in the previous chapter: Chuck planned something special for Sarah at their beach, which was considered a surprise. Fortunately, Sarah loved it even though she detested surprises. The engaged couple comfortably sat and listened to playlist of songs in order to pick out a song that best represented CHARAH's relationship. After a few hits, misses, a number of maybes, and slow dance to the song When I Said I Do, Clint and Lisa Hartman Black, their song was finally chosen. It was the song that Michael Bublé sang, and the couple danced do at the Hospital Gala. Feeling Good by Nina Someone. So, what 's going on in this chapter? Here are the who, what, where, when, why, how's? Who was the Rockstar Rebel that ended up going back to the hospital? What Panzer off to Sarah, he and Heather stepped off the 4 Floor with her and on to the pediatrics wing of the children's hospital? Where did Panzer work before he worked in private security protecting Heather? When does the topic of Heath Ledger brought between Sarah and Heather? Why does Molly brutally roast Morgan and Chuck? How did Sarah react after listening to the news coming from TMZ about leaked information concerning Heather's co-star Steven Pollack? Read and find out! I hope you enjoyed the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.
Again, if you enjoyed reading my stories and left a comment, I truly appreciate it. Please continue to do so as it gives me the incentive to write more chapters.
I don't own Chuck.

It was the day before Bash At The Bench and it was a pretty normal business day for Westside Medical Center. There was a buzz with anticipation for not only the newest Rockstar Rebel being introduced, but the musical performance dedication as well. As hospital staff, patients, and other individuals roamed the halls or made their way to their intended location, Sarah stepped out of the elevator and into the 4th floor of the hospital's children's wing. She wasn't alone as Heather, Panzer and Molly stepped out of the elevator as well. To be more exact, Molly ran into the 4th floor and stood there momentarily in the middle of the hallway. She looked to her right and then left trying to figure out where a particular room was.
Normally, Molly wouldn't voluntarily be at the hospital unless she had a very good and valid reason to be there, which she did. There was no school because of Teacher Planning Day and even though it gave the now 14-year-old an excuse to sleep in, she didn't. Why? She wanted to spend time with her BFF, Cherice Baxter, who collapsed at school yesterday because of breathing complications with her thyroid cancer. Plus, Emma was sick at home and Sarah helped her mom by resting knowing how much of a handful the feisty, hardheaded truly was. Meanwhile, Pollack was with them as well, but he tagged along with Chuck and Morgan for a bit. He was one floor above them hanging out with one of the previous Rockstar Rebels, Jagger Renner.
In any case, the trio stood in front of the elevator and watched Molly trying to figure which direction to go while at the same time scanning the room numbers that were on the wall. For the oldest Walker sibling, she couldn't help but snicker because her younger sister looked like a chicken with its head cut off. Sarah took a step forward and was about to get Molly's attention when Panzer offered a suggestion.
"I can tase her if you want?"
After he said that, Heather slapped her bodyguard's large and muscular left arm with the back of her left hand. Unfortunately, the slap itself didn't really do much except hurt her left hand a bit. The actress who was shadowing Sarah for today peered and glared up at Panzer with disappointment. "Hey, that's Sarah's sister you're talking about." she stated, admonishingly.
Panzer shrugged his shoulders and was about to respond, but the Chief Operating Officer breathed out a response, which they both heard.
"It wouldn't work," Heather and Panzer turned their attention to Sarah. The blonde in charge briefly glanced over her right shoulder at both individuals standing behind her. "She's like a terminator. The liquid version that Robert Patrick played in Judgement Day." Sarah shook her head. "The more you try to stop her it gets incredibly difficult."
"That character was bad ass," responded Panzer. "And so was the actor. If I ever got a chance to meet him, I'd throw him two cold ones and we'd do a toast together."
"That," Sarah turned around and faced the two individuals. "And I'd toast him for taking over for David Duchovny who decided to leave X-Files knowing he had some big shoes to fill." Sarah stated.
Heather nodded in agreement. "He was also in the movie Fire In the Sky. I was a teenager when I saw it. The scene where he took a lie detector test with his other 4 friends to prove they weren't lying that their friend was abducted by aliens was intense." the actress shared. "That movie creeped me out for days." she added, shaking her head. Her attention was then directed to Panzer. "I'm surprised you've never met him since your job is to protect celebrities."
"Athletes." responded Panzer.
"Really?" Heather and Sarah questioned simultaneously.
"You'd be surprised how many athletes hire bodyguards for protection. There's always going to be some asshole who thinks they can step up and take someone like Brock Lesnar to prove how tough he is, especially if he's drunk." Panzer shared, shaking his head. "We're there to deescalate the situation because if Brock got his hands on the asshole in question, then he'll probably get sued for opening a case of whoopass on the guy."
The beautiful blonde amusingly shook her head after she heard that. Afterwards, Sarah gave her response. "I know Chuck and Morgan watch wrestling. Alex and I overheard them having debates on the most awesome wrestling matches in any promotion."
"WrestleMania 13. Bret Hart versus "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. It's the match that had Bret turning heel after Austin won over the crowd since The Rattlesnake never submitted to Hart's sharpshooter." Panzer shared.
Both women's eyes widened. Afterwards, they looked at each other after they heard that from Panzer. Afterwards, Heather turned and peered up at her behemoth bodyguard. "I just don't understand it at all. I've heard it's fake."
"Don't tell that to them or any die-hard fan for that matter," retorted Panzer. "In their eyes, what they're doing is a well-choreographed dance. Also, it's a guy's version of a male soap opera. However, the pain and injuries are at times real."
"It sounds like you had some experience." questioned Sarah.
"Worked in the independent wrestling scene for a year. Lived and breathed wrestling. On the road living out of a suitcase. The money was ok. It paid the bills."
Heather shook her head in disbelief. "Sounds like a rough and lonely life. No room to take a breath and have a personal life, family…"
"You make sacrifices, especially if you have loved ones at home. That life isn't for everyone." Panzer shared, shrugging his shoulders. "The road is your relationship and your fellow wrestlers become your family. A tight knit group of people who you bond with over time. That becomes your normal everyday life."
"Did you have a wrestling name?" inquired Heather, with genuine curiosity.
"The Ringmaster," answered Panzer. "My whole gimmick was awful. I ended up working as a bouncer at a bar. A few months later a buddy of mine helped me get a job working in private security.
"And here you are now protecting little ole' me." Heather retorted, playfully elbowing Panzer in the side.
Sarah expressed an amusing smile and was about to say something when she was suddenly made aware of something. "I don't hear Molly." she softly whispered.
Afterwards, Sarah's eyes shifted from side to side. At that point, the older Walker sibling whipped around, and Molly was nowhere in sight. She looked down the right side of the hallway then the left. Fortunately for Sarah, she didn't panic because she informed her younger sister what room Cherice was in before they left the condo. Unfortunately, the attention span of any teenage girl was short and since Molly hardly paid attention to anything her older sister said the 14-year-old ended up venturing out on her own to find Cherice's room. Luckily, she knew Chuck and Morgan were visiting her so she retrieved her iPhone out, looked through her recent contacts and hit call.
A few seconds went by before she heard her fiancé on the other end of the line. "Hey babe, what's up?"
"We're here and Molly is on her way to you."
"Awesome."
"Not awesome." Sarah responded. The Chief Operating Officer made her way left with Heather and Panzer following right behind her.
"Why?
"She doesn't know where Cherice's room is?"
"Did you tell her the room number?"
"You know, Brat," Sarah shook her head. "She has the attention span of Dory from Finding Nemo."
After she said that, Heather couldn't help but snort with laughter. It caused Sarah to briefly glance behind her and expressed an amused grin towards her. The Chief Operating Officer faced forward and continued walking down the hall. She was about to speak with him again when she heard Chuck's voice on the other end of the line.
"Hey Morg, go out into the hallway and see if Mol is out there."
"Oh captain, my captain!"
"What have I said about saluting me?"
This time Sarah couldn't help but express a soft chuckle after she heard that. However, her amusement was quickly set aside after she heard not only what sounded like a painful scream on the other end of the line, but within the 4th floor as well. She quickly stopped causing Heather and Panzer to stop as well. Afterwards, the actress and bodyguard made their way around to face Sarah. When they did, that was when Sarah spoke up on the phone.
"Chuck, what's wrong? I heard a scream."
"The good news is Molly found the room."
"What's the bad news?"
"I think Morgan needs a doctor because Molly ran straight into him?"
Sarah heard over the phone what sounded like a dying whale. Instead of asking how he was, the eldest Walker sibling inquired about the youngest. "How is my sister?"
"I barely touched you! Get up, you hairy baby!"
"Does that answer your question? You alright buddy?"
After she heard that, Sarah expressed a painful sigh of her own. "I'll be there in a sec." she stated, rolling her eyes. Her attention turned to Heather and Panzer who expressed amused grins of their own causing her to do the same as well. However, it was more a smile of disbelief than amusement. Afterwards, all 3 individuals headed to Cherice's room where Molly already made her presence known and unfortunately at Morgan's expense.

"How are you feeling?" Molly lowered her head and let out a soft sigh. "When I heard the news…"
Molly stopped what she was whispering mid-sentence. She sat on the left side edge of Cherice's hospital bed for a moment and held her bff's right hand with her left. Speaking of the previous Rockster Rebel, she expressed a reassuring smile through her oxygen mask knowing how much concern there was for her. As for the youngest Walker, she seemingly looked totally unaffected when she entered the room after the 14-year-old barreled into Morgan like a teenage Juggernaut. Sarah stood right there beside her younger sibling and watched the two young girls interacting with each other. Morgan, on the other hand, had to be helped up and brought into Cherice's room not only by Chuck, but by his lovely girlfriend, Alex. Speaking of Morgan, the bearded best friend of Chuck Bartowski responded to the question that actually wasn't directed to him.
"I'm a little banged up, but I'll live."
The 14-year-old looked behind her and saw Morgan laying back in a chair by the window. He was being checked on by Alex and Chuck stood just behind the chair looking a bit concerned for his nerdy co-host/cameraman. Meanwhile, Heather was fully engaged in a conversation with Cherice's parents and expressed genuine empathy for their daughter. Meanwhile, Panzer posted himself outside the room and stood guard making sure there weren't any disturbances whatsoever.
"I wasn't talking to you, man child." After she said that, Molly felt a stinging pain coming from the back of her right ear. "Hey!" she hissed out. Beforehand, she instinctively reached up and placed her right hand over her right ear in case Sarah did it again. The younger Walker softly growled in pain as she quickly whipped her head around and faced the person who did it. Her older sister, Sarah Walker.
Beforehand, she instinctively reached up and placed her right hand over her right ear in case Sarah did it again. The younger Walker softly growled in pain as she quickly whipped her head around and faced the person who did it. Her older sister, Sarah Walker.
"Behave." Sarah tilted her head down a bit. She furrowed her eyebrows, narrowed her eyes and pointed her left index finger directly at her. "News Flash, you're not the boss here," Sarah made sure to lock eyes with her young sister. "I am." the oldest Walker sibling firmly stated, pointing to herself.
Molly responded the only way she knew how and mocked her older sister by repeating those words back to her in such a childish, teenage way while rolling her eyes. This absolutely irked Sarah and was about to flick her younger sister's forehead this time when the siblings suddenly heard a conversation that caused the both of them to utter the same thing.
"What did you say?"
"What?" questioned Morgan. "I felt like I died."
"Not that," Molly rolled her eyes and waved what he said off. "The other thing you said."
"Oh, Alex would get my pants." Morgan repeated.
There was still a look of perplexed confusion on Alex's face when she first heard that it threw her off a bit. "I get what now? Did I just hear you say if you died," Alex paused for a moment to let what she just heard sink in. "I get your pants?"
"You heard right," Morgan nodded. He then directed his attention to Chuck's fiancé. "Sarah would get Chuck's pants if he died."
The same perplexed confusion was expressed on Sarah's face. "Wait…what?"
At that point, Chuck realized there was clearly a misunderstanding of what Morgan meant about their pants. He tried to quickly clear up the confusion, but Morgan kept on talking. "It's our secret pants."
The moment Morgan uttered the words "secret pants", Chuck instantly placed his right hand over his face. It didn't get any better as Molly started roasting both men about how it didn't make sense to give their stupid pants to someone when they died. How it was considered breaking news and a deal breaker. She also added it wasn't too late for Sarah to reconsider marrying Chuck even though she wanted him to be her brother-in-law. When she looked at Morgan all she said was 'man-child' again and moved on from there. During Molly's roasting tirade, The Baxters just listened and observed quietly at the seemingly bizarre conversation about a piece of clothing. Fortunately for Chuck, Sarah gave enough wiggle room for him to jump in by briefly interrupting Molly to explain before they were fully destroyed by a 14-year-old about a misunderstanding concerning the context of what was shared by Morgan.
"It's an acronym. P.A.N.T.S," firmly spelled out Chuck, holding up both hands towards Molly. He then looked at everybody else in the room. "Not pants." he added, pointing to and waving off the pants that he was wearing. "It stands for Private Artifacts Never To Share."
"Yeah," nodded Morgan. "Those pants" He tilted his head back and pointed up to his hetero life partner. "We kind of went through an acronym phase." he added, briefly exchanging a grin with his best friend. Chuck grinned back and nodded. "Ever since we were kids, Morgan and I had a special box that we made where we kept our most sacred possessions. In case of a fire, that's what we saved inside." Morgan shared.
"Like what?" wondered Sarah. Her attention turned from Morgan to her nerdy fiancé who was genuinely interested in wanting to know.
"Well, I was generally neurotic, and Morgan was always afraid of his burning down."
"Why?" wondered Heather. She was clearly enthralled in this strange conversation about pants that wasn't really about clothing.
"It burned down." answered Morgan. A look of astonished surprise was expressed on everyone's face, except Chuck and Cherice for obvious reasons. As for Morgan, he shrugged his shoulders and continued on. "It's all water under the bridge now." He then furrowed his eyebrows. "Or is it over?"
"Anyways," interjected Chuck, with eyes briefly widening. His attention was directed to Sarah. "You wanted to know what it's in my P.A.N.T.S." Sarah nodded. "I can't tell you because it's a secret," When Chuck said he instantly pointed at Molly who was glaring at him. "BUT! But…I can share one of the things that means a lot to me that I keep in there." he added, directing his full attention to his beautiful blonde fiancé.
"Just one?" Chuck nodded. Sarah stood there for a moment. She briefly looked at Heather, Alex and at her younger sister. All three nodded in agreement after what seemed like a shared conversation without actually talking to each other. A few seconds later, Sarah spoke up again. "Deal."
After a few seconds of silence, Chuck revealed one of the secret items placed inside. "Ping pong paddle." he shared, with a smile.
A soft smile was expressed by Sarah when she heard that. "Our non-date." she softly breathed out.
Chuck sheepishly nodded and shrugged his shoulders. Unfortunately, the heartfelt moment between the soon to be married couple was interrupted by a 14-year-old teenager.
"I take it all back. Chuckles," Molly pointed at the tall nerd in the room. "You're back in as my future brother-in-law."
"Awesome." responded Chuck, expressing a hearty chuckle.
"And what about me?" wondered Morgan.
Molly stared at Morgan for a few seconds then answered him. "You're still a man-child." she firmly stated.
A second after she ended that sentence Molly felt another stinging sensation this time on her left ear. Instead of mocking her older sister like she previously did, she spun around and squared up with Sarah ready to fight her. There were a number of raised eyebrows in the room when she did that with the exception of the eldest Walker sibling. Sarah just stood with her arms crossed in front of her younger sister and expressed a seemingly unimpressed 'really' look towards her. Sarah was about to square up as well and face off with her younger sister when the siblings suddenly heard muffled laughter causing the both of them to turn towards the source. It was Cherice who was expressing the muffled laughter underneath her oxygen mask because of the sister fight that was about to go down.
Cherice's muffled laughter of amusement gradually not only brought soft smiles to the Walker sisters, but everyone else within the room. More importantly, to the previous Rockstar Rebel's parents who were worried that a possibility of sibling warfare would have broken out in their daughter's room. Unfortunately, Cherice's laughter would suddenly be interrupted when she started having a coughing fit, which caused her parents to rush over to her side with concern. Before they approached their daughter on both sides of her hospital bed, Sarah reached over and was able to pull Molly over to her to avoid being knocked down by a very concerned mother. As a concerned friend, Sarah wanted to stay in the room. However, as Chief Operating Officer of the hospital she ushered everyone out as soon as Cherice's nurse entered the room.
XXX
For the past 10 minutes, the individuals that visited the previous Rockstar Rebel were either sitting in chairs or standing around in the waiting room of the 4th floor. The concern on each of their faces was clearly evident, especially on Molly's face. The 14-year-old was pacing with concern back and forth in front of Sarah and Heather who were sitting down. Meanwhile, Panzer positioned himself by the right-side hallway within striking distance in case anything went down involving the actress he was hired to protect. Chuck and Morgan took the moment to get a cup of coffee and as for Alex she had to go check on some of her young patients on the same floor. In any case, after a few seconds, Molly expressed what sounded like a mix of anger, frustration and concern.
"I'm going to the bathroom." she announced, stomping off.
The 14-year-old marched past Panzer and disappeared out of sight down the right-side hallway. Afterwards, Heather shook her head then turned her head to face Sarah who was seemingly lost in thought after watching her youngest sister march off to use the lady's room.
"How do you do it?"
The question snapped Sarah out of whatever she may or may not have been thinking about. After shaking her head, she blinked her eyes a couple times before she faced Heather and responded. "Sorry, you say something?"
Heather briefly grinned. "I asked, how do you do it?"
"What?"
"Keep your emotions in check when stuff like this happens," Heather responded. "Especially when it happens to kids like Cherice."
Sarah sat there for a moment and let Heather's question sink in before she did. After taking a deep breath, she answered it. "A lot of training and experience for one." Sarah briefly paused before she continued on. "Don't get me wrong, I've shed my fair share of tears because of the stresses of the job that comes along with it to the point where it can leave you absolutely jaded." she added, shaking her head.
"Did it?"
"Close." responded Sarah. A few seconds later, she expressed an amused smile reflecting back on something that Heather noticed.
"What's with the smile."
There was a moment of brief silence before Sarah shrugged her shoulders. "I was considered the youngest Practicing Administrator at Georgetown University Hospital."
"Wow, that's a big accomplishment."
Afterwards, Sarah nodded and then resumed speaking. "So big that I was a blip on my former boss in D.C, Langston Graham." She was briefly silent again as she took a moment to reflect back on her time with the man who became a mentor to her. "Anyways, it was through his style of training and experience that I eventually reached the position of Chief Operating Officer. I became his go to for any problems that needed," There was another momentary pause before Sarah continued. "Solving." she added, with air quotes.
Heather arched her right brow. "A fixer."
"You could say that." Sarah retorted. "But it was more like a Wildcard Enforcer." She shook her head knowing it's not exactly the answer Heather was looking for to her question. So, she provided the how. "I learned to become emotionally detached. For someone in my position, the importance should be to care for and about the patients. I wasn't personally connected to them and that was fine with me. I know I sound cold and indifferent when I say that."
"I get it." nodded Heather.
Sarah sat there next to Heather as she took a moment and reflected on her time working with Graham. Afterwards, she shook her head again and then spoke up. "I used to feel like a cold, emotionless robot working for Graham to the point where I lost myself."
"Understandable," responded Heather, listening intently. "In some ways, you were like a government agent taking orders from their handler or something like that."
A nod was given by Sarah after Heather said that. "Only I suck at fighting," retorted the Chief Operating Officer. "But I was invited a while back to take some kickboxing classes."
"Who invited you?"
"A close friend of Chuck's who is the hospital's physical therapist, Hannah Lang." Sarah answered. Heather arched her right brow after she heard the words 'close friend' and the name 'Hannah Lang', which Sarah clearly noticed. "It's all good. She's actually an awesome person who is actually happy for Chuck and I getting married."
"I'm just sayin'." responded Heather, shrugging her shoulders.
Sarah expressed a soft chuckle and shook her head because of Heather's disbelief concerning the close relationship between her nerdy fiance and the hospital's resident physical therapist. Granted, there was a moment where she experienced a tinge of jealousy because of the friendship Hannah and Chuck shared. However, after being informed what happened between the two of them at her 30th birthday party and then at the Bartowski/Walker BBQ her worries ended up fading away.
"I do love kickboxing," Sarah happily stated. "You get to release all your frustrations and aggressions out."
"Plus, you get an excellent workout out of it and get rid of all that negative energy."
After a brief moment of silence, her thoughts returned to the old Sarah that worked for Graham. "Speaking of negative energy," Sarah took a moment and readjusted the way she was seated to be more comfortable sitting next to Heather. "I didn't like who I became being Graham's Wildcard Enforcer and even though he could see it he never really discussed it with me. I had a lot going on, especially with my personal life." Afterwards, she took a deep breath as she reflected back on her former boss. "He was more of a taskmaster, and I was basically his go-to problem solver."
After I was transferred here, I found out from Chief Beckman, he was responsible for me being here at Westside Medical Center."
"The job can change you and he knew you needed a change of scenery. What better change than moving from D.C. to Los Angeles." Heather retorted.
"I wouldn't have met Chuck if I hadn't." Sarah smiled after she said that.
"A blessing in disguise. "Heather replied, with a smile. "Anyways, I know and have read where a number of actors have lost themselves in a role for a movie."
"Heath Ledger did."
Both women were startled. They looked behind them to the individual who said that. It was Morgan who was holding two cups of coffee in hands with Chuck standing right beside him. He was holding two cups of coffee as well. They were seemingly so focused on the conversation they were having they didn't hear or see the guys had arrived.
"You scared the shit out of the both of us." Sarah said, shaking her head.
"It's like you showed up out of nowhere." Heather added.
After handing the ladies their cup of coffee, the childhood best friend briefly turned to each other and had the same idea. "We're Batman." The two men simultaneously uttered in a gravely tone of voice.
The two women had a bit of a humorous chuckle when the guys did their impersonation of the famous saying uttered by Michael Keaton in the first Batman movie. In any case, after both men made their way around to face the ladies to continue talking, Chuck shared some of his Batman knowledge concerning the late actor's role in The Dark Knight.
"Ledger immersed himself as the one of the most notorious and villainous Batman characters, The Joker." Chuck shared. Instead of taking a seat next to his fiancé, he decided to stand next to Morgan.
"Contrary to popular belief," Morgan chimed in. "He didn't stay in character even when the cameras weren't rolling?"
"So, what you're saying is, he didn't go full method." Heather stated.
Morgan shook his head.
"That's news to me. He looked so convincing that I just assumed he went full method." responded Sarah.
"Fans like ourselves," Morgan pointed at himself and Chuck. "Think Ledger made The Joker his own. It can never be touched. May he rest in peace." Morgan briefly placed his right hand over his chest to pay honor and respect to the man who passed away in start of 2008.
Chuck, Sarah and Heather took a moment acknowledging Ledger's passing that happened 3 years ago. Afterwards, he spoke up.
"True, Morg," responded Chuck. "But what about Cesar Romero and Nicholson? Then you have Mark Hamill as the voice of the Clown Prince of Crime for Batman: The Animated series?"
Morgan nodded in agreement with his hetero life partner. "They brought their own unique flair to the role." Afterwards, a Cheshire cat-like smile was suddenly expressed on his face. "We could end up having this debate for hours." After he said that both men heard the sound of two throats being loudly cleared. The sources of sounds were the two women who were seated in front of them. This led Chuck to speak up. "Or not.
"Maybe later, buddy," responded Chuck, briefly glancing at his bearded best friend. "Way, waaaaaay later."
Sarah and Heather nodded knowing now wasn't type for any sort of 'who was a better Joker' debate. A few seconds later the nerdy business owner brought up a question.
"How did you ladies end up talking about Heath Ledger?"
"I asked Sarah how she can be emotionally detached working with these wonderful Rockstar Rebels. I don't know them all personally but spending a few hours with them you can't help but get attached listening to not only their stories, but their parent's as well." Heather shared. "It's totally heartbreaking, but at the same time absolutely uplifting."
"And yet it's totally worth it," responded Chuck. "Those moments where they forget about the pain and just have an absolute blast. Those memories stick with you forever. That's why I do it. I try to go above and beyond in making their day awesome. Not
"We all do." quickly chimed in Sarah, expressing a smile up towards Chuck.
The shared moment between the couple was interrupted when heard the name of Cherice's doctor called out. When she turned her head to locate the aforementioned doctor, she was signing a chart. That's when Sarah heard what sounded like a herd of stampeding cattle coming up the hallway to her right. It was actually Molly who rumbled past Panzer and nearly steamrolled through a couple of the pediatric nursing staff to get to her intended target Dr. Bobbi Scott. She was Cherice's physician and was being bombarded with so many questions by Molly, that Sarah quickly sprang into action before she got security to take her younger sister away. How would I explain that to Mom, Sarah thought to herself.
XXX
Dr. Bobbi Scott served 4 years as an EMT for Westside Medical Center before she decided that she wanted to sharpen her skills into something more challenging. That's when she focused her time, effort, and money into becoming a pediatric doctor because she seemingly had a tremendous amount of patience, a natural communicator, committed to learning new information, and involved with a number of outreach programs for kids. One of her favorite things to do that a number of her younger patients enjoyed was dress as a Power Ranger with a stethoscope hanging around her neck. It was something that made her uniquely special and one other thing that Sarah shared in common with Dr. Scott was the fact they both loved Hallmark movies, especially the ones that were Christmas themed.
The Chief Operating Officer also learned that it was through some encouragement and a recommendation from Dr. Scott's former EMT Partner that gave her the confidence boost that she needed to move forward with her of Dr. Scott's former partner, John, re-enlisted into the military when he decided not to recertify as an EMT. He ended up moving to the Cheyenne Mountains of Wyoming and the only thing that he could share with his former EMT partner was that he was constantly traveling aboard working specialized missions for scientific and humanitarian aid. That was pretty much it and that he was not only part of a unique team of like-minded individuals, but formed a bond with a guy named T.
In any case, Sarah stood outside of Cherice's room and took a moment to speak with Dr. Scott. She mainly wanted to deeply apologize to Dr. Scott for Molly bombarding her with so many questions.
"It's fine, Chief." grinned Scott, waving it off. "She was just concerned about her friend and rightfully so." she added, not phased at all by Monsoon Molly.
"My younger sister can be a handful," Sarah retorted. "Reason why I call her Brat."
Dr. Scott expressed a soft chuckle after she heard that. "Yeah, my husband Wes and I have a couple brats ourselves. They're not quite as feisty and spirited as Molly though." She briefly stopped and focused on something else. "So, when are you and Chuck going to have a few brats of your own?"
Sarah's eyes instantly widened. The mere mention of the word kids caused her to internally panic Why? Although she wanted to have kids with Chuck and has had a bit of experience with a few of the Rockstar Rebels, especially Monique Jordan. However, she felt like she wasn't ready for that type of responsibility just yet.
"I hope so," answered Sarah, sounding a bit frazzled. "But not right now. We're both focusing on our career goals. When the time is right, it will happen for the two of us."
Dr. Scott smiled. "You two will make awesome parents. I know it." After a few seconds of awkward silence between the two women, Dr. Scott briefly glanced into Cherice's room. "Anyways, Cherice is doing fine. Just a little flare up with her lungs and we'll keep her monitored for another day just to be safe. I've given her prescribed corticosteroid to help keep the inflammation under control. After she said that, Dr. Scott's pager goes off, which she instantly checked. "Duty calls, Chief." she stated, briefly raising her eyebrows.
A nod was simply given by Sarah. She briefly watched Dr. Scott head off to check on another young patient before she headed back into Cherice's room. Speaking of Cherice, she was feeling considerably better after taking the prescribed corticosteroid given to her by Dr. Scott. Cherice had lasted for only a brief moment before she was able to settle down and breathe easier after slowly taking in some oxygen provided by the mask she was wearing. A few seconds later, Cherice's mom sat next to and then leaned down to kiss her daughter's forehead while her father flashed a strong but concerned smile down towards his baby girl.
"I'm ok mom," Cherice softly uttered, behind the oxygen mask. "Dad."
"I know, baby. Are you hungry?" she conveyed, with a motherly tone of voice. Cherice shook her head. "Just let us know and we'll have the nurse get you some food. Just go ahead and rest." Cherice nodded.
Cherice's father chimed in after his wife. "We'll be here when you wake up."
That's when Molly jumped into the conversation. "And when you do we'll have ice cream together."
A smile was expressed on Cherice's face behind her oxygen mask. "Froyo from Orange Orange."
"You got it," responded Molly, smiling softly. "I promise." she added, with a firm nod.
"What about hospital policy?" Cherice's mother inquired, sounding concerned. "I was told it was against the rules."
"Who told you that?" wondered Chuck.
"Mr. Milbarge said…"
At that point, a number of groans were instantly expressed when Emmitt's name was spoken. Quizzical looks were expressed on the faces of Cherice's parents as they looked all around the room because of how they responded after hearing the name of the hospital's attorney. Afterwards, someone in the room spoke up.
"I'm like Sergeant Schultz from Hogan's Heroes."
The source of the response was Chuck Bartowski who expressed his trademark toothy smile. Speaking of Chuck, he was about to continue on and further elaborate on the pop culture reference that involved iconic 60's television series, but his bearded best friend beat him to it.
"We see nothing, we know," Morgan stated, wagging his finger in the air in front of him. "…nnnoootthhhinngggg!" he firmly stated, in a bad German accent.
"What froyo?" questioned Heather, chiming in. "Molly, did you hear anything about that?"
Molly shook her head. "Alex, how about you?"
"I hear a lot of things in this hospital," Alex retorted, shrugging her shoulders. She made her return while Sarah was talking with Dr. Scott outside Cherice's room. "Nothing about froyo." she added, shaking her head.
"What's going on?" Cherice's father wondered.
In that moment before Sarah responded to Cherice's father, she recalled a Scrubs episode where the curmudgeon Bob Kelso actually bent the rules. He "looked the other way" when JD, Turk, Carla, and Reid used bureaucratic loopholes to treat patients without adequate insurance, especially when it came to Kelso's female friend. Unfortunately, her name escaped her memory at the moment because it was so long ago, but it didn't really matter right now. For Sarah, the point was the episode represented and encapsulated what being in the medical field was all about on television even though it doesn't happen that way in reality.
Of course, there are moments for her where she couldn't help but feel like in a Scrubs episode after all she's heard and witnessed since she started working as Chief Operating Officer of Westside Medical Center. Although Chuck isn't a doctor and Morgan isn't a surgeon, they've most definitely shared guy love between the two of them similar to that of the best friends in the show J.D. and Turk. As humorous and scary as that particular thought was, it was the absolute truth knowing the relationship between the childhood best friends, Sarah thought to herself. In any case, she could go on for days with her comparing herself to Elliot, Alex being Carla and Casey being the Janitor, but she set aside her thoughts on Scrubs and refocused.
"Two words, Mr. Baxter," After Sarah briefly glanced at Chuck, she smiled then directed her attention back to Cherice's father. "Plausible deniability."
It took a second before Mr. Baxter slowly realized what was going on. Once he got the message, he expressed a knowing smile towards his wife who smiled back. The parents knew the individuals in the room were bending over backwards to make their daughter's unfortunate health situation a little less bearable. Unfortunately, the courteous and upbeat atmosphere within the room would suddenly be the sound of a ringtone that didn't belong to Chuck, Sarah, Alex, Morgan, or Cherice's Parents. It belonged to Heather Chandler. She briefly checked to see who contacted her.
"It's Alexis." She accepted the call and placed her iPhone up against her right ear. "Hey, what's up?" After a few seconds of listening to what was said on the other end of the line the phone call was over.
"What's wrong?" inquired Sarah. She noticed the look of concern on Heather's face.
Heather didn't say anything right away. She was busy on her phone trying to search for something. A few seconds later she found what she was looking for on her phone. The entire room was considerably silent until they all heard a voice on the phone state the following:
**If you're just joining us, there's been some breaking news that information has apparently been leaked concerning Hollywood's notorious bad boy actor, Steven Pollack. His real name is Orville Hickenbottom and is a silent partner for an organization called Project Pegasus. We'll provide more details and get you further updated with any additional information not only on our TMZ website, but on the show with Harvey and Charles.**
The silence that blanketed Cherice's room was suddenly broken when Sarah turned to the one person who could have possibly leaked the information.
"Brat," Sarah firmly stated. She slowly turned to face her younger sister. "What did you do?" The eldest Walker sibling furrowed her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes directly at the 14-year-old.
Molly's eyes widened. "I didn't do it," she responded, holding up both hands. "I swear!" the 14-year-old added, shaking her head.

NOTE: There were a couple nods to the series such as Vs. The Curse with the mention of Chuck and Morgan's P.A.N.T. That and Sand Vs. The Bullet Train with the two "EMT's" who I provided a backstory when it comes to their roles for this particular storyline. Anyways, things are getting interesting with leaked information concerning Steven Pollack and Sarah immediately eyed the one person who was potentially responsible. Her younger sister Molly. Hope you enjoyed this chapter and if you did share your thoughts by leaving a review. They're considered an incentive to keep on writing for us fanfic writers. As always, any grammatical and punctutiona errors are my own!
