Red couldn't tell if they were in a car or on a boat for a good portion of the trip.

Then again, he wasn't sure how he and Purple ended up in a cage in the first place.

They had gone from being out in the open, and the next thing he knew, they were both in a cage.

Purple, in contrast to what Red had figured, was less panicky and more confused.

"Mind telling me what the hell I missed that involves being taken against my will?" Purple asked in confusion.

Red suddenly remembered Purple had no memories, and no idea what was going on.

Which meant he'd be spending the better portion of transportation explaining the past few months.

And if it came to Purple in bits and pieces, then Red had accomplished something.

"Just...out of pure curiosity, do you know who we're being taken to?" Red started.

Purple blinked. "No?"

Red sighed. At least Purple's memories were completely wiped, and he had no idea who Navy and Orchid were.

Right. He still doesn't know who King and the others are. Better get started on explaining that.

"We're being taken to your crappy, incredibly powerful, biological parents," Red began. "They're going to manipulate you into believing a lot of mean and horrible things that aren't true."

"But...why?"

"Because your biological father abandoned you when you were a kid for some stupid bitchy fantasy, and came back a few months ago and kidnapped you. The past few months have been me and the others from our last location playing what they refer to as "hot potato" with you because we all have our own beliefs on where you belong."

"Where do I belong, then?"

"That's the second part of my explanation. See, the reason this dude abandoned you is because he thought you were weak, and would never be good enough. And he's got this whole twisted fantasy he wants you to join that forces all of those statements onto you."

"That doesn't sound very fun."

"It isn't. Trust me. But then there's us. That tall, mango colored stick from earlier? He loves you a lot, and on more than one occasion has almost killed people to keep you safe."

His memories flashed to every time King had practically murdered someone with his own words to keep Purple alive.

"I'm not pretending. I've always cared for Purple, ever since the day I met him. You cared for him for what, ten years before ditching him and Orchid? Yes, I betrayed him, and in a way killed him, but at least I had the courage to tell him that I love him and I'm proud of how far he's come, even with you burning a deep, dark, and depressing hole in his memories. I don't care what you say, Navy, but Purple's my kid now. He's with me now, and you can't change that!"

Red let a small smile cross his face. King was always fighting tooth and nail to keep them safe.

"Is he gonna do it this time?" Purple had grown interested.

"Probably. If he loves you enough to put himself on the line by going into your memories and talking you out of spiraling into a deep hole, he loves you enough to find a way across the ocean and murder everyone in here."

"Wow."

"Yeah. He can be overprotective, but he lost his biological kid to a really bad accident, and then you marched into his life. He's adored you ever since."

"He was that desperate, huh?"

"It's not just that! Your one of the kindest people he's ever met! You were so willing to help him, and still wanted to make him proud after he threw you through a few bricks and almost killed you."

"What?"

"Yeah. You went through quite the wringer. But now you've got him and us!"

"I still don't understand why we're out here."

"Well...that's a shorter story."

Purple smiled. "I'm listening."

Hours had passed, Red had explained everything that had happened between Navy's first arrival and their current situation, and Purple had stared at him, curiosity, interest, and amusement traced in his eyes.

Purple was very transfixed by the events he had supposedly gone through, and hadn't been the slightest bit surprised when Red got the part where he had amnesia.

"Maybe I'll have a better understanding of everything I've gone through once I get my memories back?" Purple asked.

"Maybe. Who knows. But why need a deeper understanding of everything you've gone through when you had the best point of view on it."

Purple blinked.

"I didn't say anything."

"Okay?"

A bump startled them both.

"What was that?"

The cage suddenly came to a stop, and the two looked at each other in confusion.

"This can't be good at all."

"You think?"

"I know."

Purple looked at him with worry. "How do you know?"

"I think we're here." Red said, mostly to himself but loud enough for Purple to hear.

Whatever was going to happen wasn't going to be good, and he had almost no weapons to use besides brute force if it meant keeping Purple out of danger.

"Whatever happens, just stay with me, and you'll be fine," Red told him. "These psychopaths won't stop at anything to capture you, and if we get separated, the chances that your going to be captured are going to go way higher than I want them to go."

"So just stay with you and I'll live?"

"Yes. Exactly."

Luckily, they weren't taken to Navy straight-away, something about a disturbance in their amnesia plan or something, Red didn't catch it all.

What he did know is they dropped everything last minute to go assist Navy and the others, including the key to the cell, that Red tried reaching for.

"Purple, you've been here before, right?" Red asked, before suddenly remembering Purple could not help they're situation in his current state. "Right. Amnesia."

"You could try pulling it closer if it's too far away. There's a few sticks in here." Purple said nonchalantly, obviously tired from their trip there.

Red caught a glance at a stick in the corner of the room, so he grabbed it and tried snagging the tip with the key hook.

It didn't work. Even sticking the entire twig through the bars of the cell door wouldn't get it close enough to the key.

"Son of a bitch." He grumbled under his breath.

Unless someone working with King and the others from the inside, only that would have to be a friend of Gold's they didn't know of or one of Fern's friends, there was no getting out.

"Fuck."

"Looking for something, kid?"

For a split second, Red thought King had shown up, having followed like the smart guy he was, but it wasn't King.

It was a short stick figure, darker than Green.

"Green?"

"Nope. I'm Willow, Fern's little sister. You've met Fern, right?"

"Your brother?"

"Yep! That guy!"

Red blinked. Fern had a sister?

"Aren't you...a guard?"

"Well...not really. I'm actually posing as one to get inside information. And so get through to my best friend, Sunny."

"So your...a spy?"

"For Fern, I currently am. He wanted me to find you guys so I could keep your amnesiac friend from dying."

"Damn, that guys smart." Red said. He had to admit, Fern had a pretty good plan going.

Willow picked up the keys. "I could keep you guys in here, but I'm not an asshole, and I'm sure you have a kid in there who wants his memories back. So I'll let you guys go, and we'll get this kids memories back, and then escape!"

Red blinked for a moment, surprised at how fleshed-out this plan was, before smiling. "Deal."
