Chapter 2:

I led the group upstairs and walked to the end of the hall, counting the rooms as I went. When I stopped at the end of the hall I turned around and greeted the new faces. "Ok, on my right hand side there are 10 rooms, feel free to choose any room except for this one." I stopped and pointed at the blue colored door. "This is going to be my sons room… whenever I find him." Michonne spoke up then, "I thought you said you couldn't have children." "That's right, I can't have children anymore. I had a child just a year before I was 'volunteered' by my co-workers to participate in the governments experiments." Michonne made an "o" shape with her mouth. "I'm sorry but, ma'am if you don't mind me asking, why are you letting us stay with you, you barely know us, for all you know we could be bandits like that Tyler kid said." Rick said, stepping forward. "You guys look alright to me, plus obviously you guys will be under supervision until that is proven correct, if not then I'll set you guys up with supplies to last about a month and send you on your way. Plus, it looks like y'all could use a shower and some food, I wanted to get that out of the way before questions."

"Do you have an idea where your son may be? A couple of our group members were the runners at our last place, we could help you as a thank you." I smiled at Rick. "Unfortunately I don't really know, my sons father was supposed to be on the way to Georgia when the outbreak was nothing but a couple sightings every few weeks, but when everything got really bad and we lost communications I don't think he was even halfway here at that point. So, I'm just kinda searching the immediate area as often as I can, hoping he eventually shows up." I smiled a sad smile. "Well, the offer stands, with more people looking you can cover a greater area." "I'll think about it. Get a shower and get settled guys, I'll get dinner ready, just come on down whenever you're ready." Rick nodded his head and said thank you and the group when to various rooms while I went back downstairs and got things together to make chicken alfredo.

I was just about done boiling the noodles when the first of the group came down, Daryl. "Hello, Daryl, go ahead and have a seat at the table. Hope you like alfredo." Daryl grunted as he sat down. "Where'd you get the things to make alfredo?" I smiled to myself. "Well we have an extremely large farming section, filled with cows, chickens, just about any animal you can think of, we also have factories where we can make things like cheese and everything else a functioning society may need." Daryl just grunted. I look to him as I wait for the chicken to cook through. "If you and your group would like, I can take y'all on a tour of the grounds tomorrow." I smiled at Daryl and he nodded once in the affirmative. Glenn and Maggie came down next, sitting in the chairs to the left of Daryl. I went back to cooking, slowly getting everything together when Daryl Spoke up again. "You got a picture or something of your kid?" I turn to look at him with a questioning gaze.

"Can't rightly go lookin' for someone if I don't know what they look like." I hummed in response and left the stove to walk into the living room coming back with a picture. "That's him" I said smiling sadly as I handed the picture over. The picture was of me holding a blonde haired blue eyed four year old who was laughing with his almost tooth filled smile, standing about a foot away was the father, another blonde haired blue eyed person, looking almost identical to the boy. "Man, you guys must not like each other for him to be standing so far away." Glenn spoke up when he looked at the picture. "Not really, I found out he was cheating on me when I was in the hospital giving birth, it was an ugly break up, but we tried to be as amical as possible." I shrugged my shoulders while Glen hummed. "Cute kid." Daryl said handing back the picture. I nodded and put the picture up and went back to do the finishing touches on the meal. Right as I started placing plates the rest of the group came down and sat down, leaving the head of the table for me.
