The Parker family was on the highway, returning home after a New York trip to visit May. They were just passing the time as the road had come to a halt due to the traffic. Peter was the one currently in the driver's seat as Lois was in the passenger side, and their daughters were right behind them. Mayday was behind Peter while April was behind Lois.
"Okay, now I get to choose," Mayday said to the family as she got a few ideas. "Would you rather...date Iron Man or kiss Spider-Man?"
Peter nearly burst out laughing at the question but managed to hold it in. Lois rolled her eyes at her husband and decided to mess with him a little. Turning over to April, she had a grin as she went to answer the question.
"I would rather date Iron Man. Who knows where those lips of Spider-Man's have been?" Lois said with disgust in her voice.
"Oh, I think you have a pretty good idea," Peter told her with a coy smile.
Lois smiled at him with that evil face she had grown to love. "I've only interviewed him once."
"Once a week, maybe," Peter muttered with a smile.
But then it happened.
Peter's senses went off and he looked around to see where it was coming from. He started to get worried when he didn't see anything coming at them, knowing that meant it was something. Something big.
That's exactly when Lois started to notice and wondered what was wrong. "Peter? What is-"
Before Lois could finish the question, an explosion took the highway and sent several cars falling down a pit as well as sending the car flying. Their car however was at least blown backward but a laser ended up slitting it down the middle.
When April woke up, she found herself in her seat but detached from the car altogether. She quickly tried to get up, pulling at her seatbelt that was crushed and broken in the fall.
April then looked around her surroundings and got an idea when she saw a piece of a broken headlight. She reached and tried to get her hands on it as the piece was just out of reach. But by some miracle of strength, she managed to pull the seat towards the glass. That enabled her to reach and take the glass and cut through the seatbelt with ease.
Once she got up to her feet, a blast almost hit her in the head. When she looked at where the blast came from, it was a laser beam coming from Cyclops, who was aiming for the Man-Beast known as Sabretooth.
April huddled behind one of the cars and was frozen in fear as she didn't see a way out for her. Storm then came flying in and sent several bolts of lightning towards the monster that crushed the bridge. The Juggernaut.
"April!" Peter cried as he ran and tackled his daughter just before Wolverine was thrown into their car, followed by Sabretooth tackling him.
Wolverine drew his claws and swung wildly at his longest enemy as he pulled his nails out to cut Logan's face. But at the last moment, Sabretooth looked over to Peter and recognized the scent.
"Spider-Man?" Sabretooth asked, only to give Logan an opening to punch Sabretooth and kick him off.
Peter grabbed April and picked her up before seeing they had no way out. Looking over to the bridge, he saw there was a way out, but it was going to be risky with April. He held his daughter close and wanted her to do the same, but also just in case this didn't work...
"April, close your eyes," Peter told his daughter, not wanting her to see what he was about to do.
April complied with her father and closed her eyes, holding onto Peter the best that she could for what he was about to do. Peter quickly ran to the edge of the bridge before leaping, reaching, and grabbing onto the pillar and using his powers to slowly drag the two of them from the air to the ground.
Once they reached the ground, Peter released the pillar and held his daughter and they ran to find Lois and Mayday, who previously already escaped the attack. The fight continued around the highway as the two of them raced to get as far away as they could.
PRESENT DAY...
Teresa was working her way through the house and made her way into the guest bedroom. Once she was there, she started to unpack for the stay and heard the twins across the hall.
"Dad kept this secret from us for fourteen years," April commented, her voice muffled through the door.
"Well, in his defense, he wouldn't tell it to us when we were kids." Mayday defended her father. "And Mom said that he stopped when we were born."
"And that is supposed to make it better?" April asked her sister. "It just hurts that he never told us."
Teresa then knocked on the door, and then answered it before they had a chance to respond. "Sorry to interrupt, but you girls are a bit loud."
"Sorry, Aunty T." Mayday apologizes.
"No, I understand why you're both hurt," Teresa tells them and has an idea. "Come with me. I wanna show you something."
Teresa then walked into her bedroom as the twins wondered what she had to show them and followed.
Back downstairs, Lois was sitting in the kitchen waiting for Peter to show up and heard something swinging nearby. When she looked to the backdoor, Peter limped inside and opened the door as he fell against the wall. Ripping off his mask, he panted in exhaustion and pain as he held his hand over the injuries the razor bats left on him.
Peter then looked and saw Lois was looking at him with that 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' look. "Hi, honey. I'm home."
Lois sighed as she placed her drink down and walked over to him, leading Peter to the couch to grab the first aid kit. "What were you thinking?"
"That the Goblin was going to come after you if I didn't do anything to stop him," Peter confessed to what he was feeling as she wiped his injuries. "He's still out there."
"Seems someone's a bit rusty after fourteen years," Lois commented as a joke. She then got serious as she sighed and looked at the suit emblem. "I have a feeling you're not done."
"No. Goblin's still out there." Peter confirmed.
"Well...if we're gonna do this..." Lois said as she got up and wiped her hands with a towel. "We're gonna have to talk to the kids about moving."
"Moving?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, did you think I was gonna let you stick around while I went back to Metropolis?" Lois asked him with a smile. "We're in this together." She then reached and held his hand, taking his glove off to look at his wedding ring. "Forever and in sickness and health, right?"
Peter nodded with a smile as he leaned close to peck her lips. "Till death do us part."
Lois then picked up the package from May and handed it over to Peter. "And if we're doing this, then you're gonna need to see this."
"What?" Peter asked in confusion.
He then picked up the package from her and finally decided to open up the last present from his aunt. When it was opened, he was shocked to see what was inside the package.
Back upstairs in the guest room, Teresa pulled out a S.H.I.E.L.D.-issued computer that gave her access to the entire database. This also gave her access to everything in the recordings to do with their assets, including Spider-Man.
The girls looked in shock as they watched their father fight off the likes of Spot, Doc Ock, Shocker, Scorpion, Lizard, and many more enemies. The recent enemy they were watching was Peter against the Mad Titan with the Avengers.
"Your dad was one of the most dedicated members of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Teresa told her nieces as she saw how focused they were on the footage. "He was a hero, who was never appreciated, and yet would always do all he could to help others."
"Wow," Mayday said as she watched the fight continue and Peter wrapped Thanos so Thor could cut off his hand with the gauntlet. "Dad did all of this?"
"And he gave it up?" April was more surprised to see.
Teresa grew sour as she was the only one who knew what happened that night. "That's a bit harder to explain." She then closed the computer from them. "Your father went up against a dangerous criminal known as Green Goblin. There wasn't much to the criminal, but he became more dangerous as time went on. Then...the day you two were being born, it became a fight to the death. Peter never told anyone all the details, not even me. Once the fight was over, your father decided to put away the suit so you two could have something neither of us had. A family."
April then started to remember the words that she had said to her father and felt crushed. She hurt the man who gave up his powers and super suit so he could be a mostly stay-at-home hand.
Peter stood in the living room with what was inside the package in his hands. It was a new and improved version of his Spider-Man suit
The blue highlights of the new suit they had created have been replaced with black ones and given splits with the same boots slightly below the knee, with black outlining covering them and the feet. But now the lines have been dimmed that the color has been darkened all over the suit. The eye lenses were still the same black on the outline and white in the middle.
The chest insignia made to protect himself was now a giant spider with its legs going over his shoulders, waist, around his neck, and even the same on the back of his suit. The mask was mostly the same with retractable lenses, but it was something that could help him in his next fight against the Goblin.
Peter smiled as he looked over the suit and placed it over his form like he was picking a new shirt out at a store. "What do you think?"
"Simple. Different. New." Lois gave her perspective on the suit.
Peter smiled as he knew he needed to try the full suit on later and placed it back in the package it came from. Teresa came walking down the stairs and saw the two of them packing the suit.
"Just an FYI, I might have talked some sense into your girls," Teresa told them as she headed out the door for a quick trip into town. "Expect an apology soon."
Just as she warned them, the twins made their way down the stairs and were going to have a few words with their dad.
While that was going on, down at the Life Foundation, Carlton Drake was looking over the footage that Spider-Man was back. He watched him swing towards the problem and watched as he fought the Goblin through the city.
"This is it," Carlton said to the scientists, turning the footage so they could all see. "This is what we've been waiting for! We have the chance to finally accomplish our goal." He then started to walk through the halls with them in tow. "With Spider-Man back, we might have a chance to achieve our goal."
He then opened one of the doors and it led to an area with a giant containment cell.
Inside the cell was a familiar figure.
"Symbiosis." Carlton finished his explanation.
Inside the container was someone who has a very muscular, black body that resembles the Symbiote he originated from. He has white eyes with no pupils, sharp yellow teeth, and a long tongue. A huge white spider is printed across his chest. Except for the teeth, tongue, and black-and-white color scheme, he resembles Spider-Man.
The creature came charging and slammed against the reinforced glass and screeched at them.
"Hello, Eddie Brock," Carlton tells the Symbiote.
Back at the Parker household, the parents were listening to their daughters apologizing for how they reacted to the truth. Peter already forgave them, but for the sake of Lois's stern look, he knew she needed to hear it.
"Girls, it's fine. It's not like I expected either of you to jump for joy to discover that your dad was an ex-hero." Peter assured the two of them. "I'm glad neither of you did anything crazy though with the knowledge."
"So... where do we go from here?" April wonders.
"That's up to you guys, really," Peter told them, willing to follow his girls (all three of them) to the ends of the world. "I know how you feel about-"
"Dad, I'm...I'm working it out," April assured him she didn't condemn her father for being a mutant.
"Honestly, it's kinda cool to have a dad superhero," Mayday added with a smile. "So... could you shoot webs on your own?"
Peter chuckled and saw that was coming. "No, I needed the web shooters and a fluid I created." He then got serious about the subject that he needed to bring up. "And listen, this secret is a big responsibility, and-"
Mayday groaned and April rolled her eyes as both of them knew what was coming. "Dad, we get it. With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibly. We're 14 which makes us responsible and grown women."
Lois then smirked and had to bring up something. "If you're a grown woman, then why do you still sleep with Señor Trunks?"
April chuckled a bit and tried to hold it in for her sister.
Mayday then got defensive as she lightly smacked her sister. "I don't sleep with him, I...I... mean...it. I use Señor Trunks as my pillow because he's a travel pillow."
April then looked at her sister with a smirk. "He?"
"It's! It's...comfortable!" Mayday defended as she crossed her arms.
Peter chuckled then looked over to Lois and saw this was a good time to bring it up. "Listen, we were wondering...what do you guys think if we stayed in New York a little longer?"
The girls looked at one another and back to their father. "Like...for how long?"
"We're thinking...permanently," Lois tells them.
"Wait, like stay here?" Mayday asks.
"Yeah, we know it's gonna be a big change, and that's why we want your opinions on it," Peter tells them. "But in the meantime, I wanna show you girls something."
"Like...Spider-Man stuff?" Mayday asked, getting a little excited at the idea of seeing some secret superhero stuff. "Like a secret headquarters?"
"That would have been the basement." Lois was sorry to say.
"She's right," Peter admitted with a nod. "But we still need to figure out which of you or if either of you even has powers. So, I'm gonna take you girls to see Reed. He has something that can detect the Mutant gene, then we'll see where we can go from there."
"Alright, but dad..." Mayday raced after her dad as he walked towards the door with April behind her. "Dad, we just learned and accepted our dad is Spider-Man. We have questions."
"Tons of questions." April agreed as they chased their dad.
Meanwhile, with the new Green Goblin, he entered the old, abandoned mansion that used to house the one and only Norman Osborn. He entered the house and limped as he reached and ripped off his mask. Once it was removed, it revealed someone underneath whose entire right side of his face was scarred and injured.
"Gah." Goblin groaned as he limped over towards the table where there was a needle and injected it into his leg. His entire leg was then healed, followed by the rest of his body. "Spider-Man."
"Hello, Mr. Osborn." A robotic voice called out, getting his attention. "Was the mission successful?"
"Slightly," Goblin said as he walked over to the other table that had weapons and blueprints for other weapons. "I drew Spider-Man out. Lost the glider."
"I am sorry to hear that." The robot voice said with sympathy.
"Thanks, Bernard," Goblin said as he went over his plan. "We need to work on my speed and strength if I'm going to end this."
"You also need more of your formula." Bernard was sorry to tell him. "That was the last of the supply."
Goblin smashed his hand against the table and ended up damaging it in the process. "Did we find a way to make the formula permanent?"
"Not yet."
"Then we need to get as much of it as we can," Goblin said as he felt the side of his face. "We need to stop Spider-Man before he does to this world what he did to mine." Then he looked around the room and saw a painting of Norman Osborn on the wall and smiled. "Don't worry, dad. I'll take him down once and for all."
