A/N You know it's a good scene when you know the time off by heart! Last scene of Eggs is just beautiful, honestly the reason the episode is in my top three. But I actually decided to watch some of the rest for once and had this little idea

Series 3 Episode 6: Eggs - 27:33

Mike POV

"Steady and secure hey?"

I was in the office with Tracy after leaving the kitchen. She gave me a smile in reply.

"Secure enough to tell me what's on your mind?"

"What do you mean?"

"What you said earlier about Cam, about you thinking it'd feel strange to go and visit her, about not belonging together?" I was slow and gentle with my answer, not wanting her to close up on me.

"I just got caught up with Harry, that's all. Everything's fine."

"So you're excited for her coming back?"

"Of course."

I could tell she was hiding something. That something was amiss. She was a little reserved, not quite her usual self.

"It's perfectly natural to feel a little nervous. You've been apart for a while, you've lived alone for the first time. It's ok if it feels a little strange."

"I just haven't seen her for so long."

I could sense the nerves in her voice. Nerves that things might have changed, that her worries from earlier might be true, that she and Cam might never be the same.

"She still loves you, Trace. Nothing is ever going to change that, no matter how far apart you are."

She nodded, acknowledging what I'd said. Then she opened the filing cabinet, rummaging through some papers, finding something to do to keep herself busy.

I looked at my watch. "Go on, off you go. Go home and see her."

She looked at her own watch. "I'm on shift for another hour."

"Is Cam home?"

"She should be."

"Then go. Gina and I can hold things here." I chuckled. "I don't think the kids are very happy with you anyway after that pencil trick!"

Tracy smiled at my comment, before looking slightly doubtful. "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. Go, go give her a hug. I'm sure it's long overdue."

I could tell by the brief look in her eyes just how overdue it was. Then she looked away, and went to get her bag and her coat. She put them on, then looked back to me. "I'll see you later."

"Have a good day tomorrow." Tracy had booked the day off as soon as she'd known when Cam would be returning, to be able to spend some time with her. I hoped she'd enjoy it.

She gave me a smile, then left the office. I watched her go, the apprehension in her becoming more clear by the moment. I knew she'd be ok once she got home, and I was looking forward to seeing her happy and settled when she next came in.

As the front door shut behind her I sighed, making my way down to the kitchen. I had some eggs to deal with!
