Chapter 4: The Autism Banquet
The next day, we all attended the annual autism banquet at the Shriners Ballroom out in Cheswick. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We jammed out to our usual music of NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Kate Bush, and Lizzo while playing fun games like Charades, Donut on a Rope, Sardines, Flashlight Tag, an obstacle course, corn hole, Murder in the Dark, and Nail Polish Spin the Bottle. We also listened to the Pop2Kountdown from 2000 once again on Pop2K. There were also healthy snacks like veggie sticks, fruit, and even cheese and crackers before dinner. Dinner itself was chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta cheese, chef-carved roast beef with horseradish and au jus, angel hair pasta with our choice of sauces, red potatoes with sweet onion and dill butter, whole green beans with onion and bacon, tossed salad, rolls, and of course, a special cake. "I always love pasta at banquets," Carly stated. "Maybe for the picnic, I can make some of the macaroni and cheese that I cooked for dinner back in middle school, but I do love the angel hair pasta with marinara sauce." "There are all kinds of good foods to eat at a feast, Carly," Spencer stated. "Yes, and you can cook as many of them as you want," Mr. Benson stated. "Well, I like the salad best," Alex stated. "The before-dinner snacks tasted good and were good for us, too. I am thinking that I will keep up my healthy eating habits whenever I go to Disney World with the marching band next week." "I prefer spring concerts over Christmas concerts because the weather is warmer and there is more of a variety of music," Justin stated. "I thought the Christmas concert from back in 11th grade was good, though," Max stated. "I think that they did a good job cooking these potatoes," Sarah stated. "The Chef and I always cooks delicious food," I agreed. "We are having roast beef instead of ham this time. I found out that Veltre's does catering, so we can just have our Thanksgiving dinner catered by the venue next year." "The annual banquets are a sign that summer is coming," James stated. "Yes, I definitely agree," Henri stated. "Many high school baseball games are going on similar to what we attended at my high school," James pointed out. "Catering companies should also offer lemonade in addition to soft drinks," Henri pointed out. "During spring and summer banquets, of course." "I remember selling lemonade when it was this hot in May once," I happily remembered. Once the banquet was over, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
