Chapter 2 (Ascension): Strange Happenings part 1

The Rodríguez house

Alexia was currently waking up from her sleep and this time she actually woke up at a decent time for her on school day mostly because she felt like a she got hit by bus or something and she felt utterly exhausted which she probably gets from all the running that she did and how she ran faster than she ever has in her life before. Since she was so tired Alexia decided to go straight to sleep after having dinner without even watching any kind of anime or play any kind of games before she went straight to bed.

However when she woke up this time, she felt extremely stiff and was still very tired which was odd considering that she had just woken up. She also felt like her period was acting up as she felt very fat and bloated which made her feel even worse.

Knowing however that she needed to get up and get ready for school and since she had a lot more time then she usually did, she would have a least a bit of time before she had to go to school.

Alexia went down wearing her pyjamas Asian Kung-fu Generation t shirt and white with dark purple polka dots bottoms along with her wearing some light purple slippers.

When Alexia went downstairs, she grabbed herself a heat pad and placed it onto her stomach and she also grabbed some ginger tea in order to help with dealing with her bloated stomach as sat down on the sofa while also massaging the left side of her stomach.

She also knew that her father was out in work since he usually leaves early and that her younger twin siblings were going to their friends house before going to school.

And she knew who dropped them off in their friends house as Leo entered the house though why he was already in school uniform was beyond her.

When he saw his older sister, he raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's up with you?"

Alexia groaned in discomfort when she felt and heard her stomach make an unhappy growling and gurgling noise which Alexia then continue to massaged her stomach to calm it down , "I just woke up today and I felt really fat and bloated, I think my periods acting up again. And I to make things worst I feel as stiff as a board" She responded while still ignoring the noises her stomach was making.

Immediately knowing what was going on, Leo went towards the kitchen, "Hang on dad got some medication that can help.

Alexia was thankful for that since she would always bloated really badly for some reason during her periods, "Thanks Leo." She said.

Just as her stomach stopped growling and she was able rest her head on the sofa until she heard a voice that sounded like Leo's, "Last thing I think she wants to deal with in the middle of the morning is a repeat of what happened during her gymnastics try-outs."

Alexia glared at Leo who was coming back now with the medication raising an eyebrow at why his sister was now glaring at him, "What?" Was she having a mood swing now too?

"What did I tell you about talking about the try-outs?" Alexia said annoyed standing up and taking the pills from her little brothers hands and having them with her ginger tea.

Leo then looked at her like she was crazy, "I'm not crazy enough to mention it after you attempted to knock me out last time."

"Then why would you mention it while collecting the medication?" Alexia asked.

Leo then looked confused , "Alexia, I didn't even say a word while getting your medication."

Alexia then looked confused herself, "What? But I heard you talking to yourself about it." She said sure about herself.

Leo looked even more confused, "You must be hearing voices or something because I didn't say anything."

Alexia didn't know what to say she could have sworn that she heard Leo talking about her Gymnastics try-outs, but he said he didn't say anything, and she had a feeling that he wasn't lying.

Thankfully the house phone then rang and since Alexia was closer to it and answered it.

"Hola buenos días. Esta es la casa Rodríguez, ¿Quién es? (Hello Good morning. This is Rodriguez house, who is this?) Alexia asked.

"¿Quién crees que es, hermana? (Who do you think it is sis?)" An older voice said.

"Carlos!?" Alexia said shocked.

Unlike both her and Leo, Carlos didn't have a Spanish accent when they spoke in English.

"You know it! So how's my little sister been?" Carlos asked concerned.

"I've been well. Me and Leo are in the house getting ready for school, The twins are over in their friends house and Dad's at work." Alexia explained.

"That's good well, I only wanted to give you quick call to let you and Leo know that I'll be at the house by the time you get back from school." Carlos explained.

"That's good, well hopefully I'll see you later?" Alexia asked.

"Not hopefully, you will. Anyway later little sis." Carlos said.

"Later." Alexia said before hanging up.

Alexia then told Leo about Carlos would be arriving when they got back home as she went and finished of her ginger tea and remove heat pad before going upstairs to get change into her school uniform.

Junior High Gym PE class

Alexia felt a bit more better then when she did earlier. Her stomach was still feeling very wired but was not bloated anymore but she was going to be avoiding fast food, fizzy drinks or anything that might upset it again for the rest of today, but she was still very stiff and was struggling in moving fast along with her feeling very sluggish.

Which made things even worst as she was in PE, and she was doing the sport that she hated the most…

Dodgeball.

Alexia hated dodgeball because you have to have very go reaction time to either catch or to the dodge the balls that are being thrown right at her and you have to be very good at throwing the ball in order to eliminate members of the opposing team.

Alexia's problem was that she had neither of that.

Alexia would constantly flinch every time the ball would come flying towards her making it impossible for her to catch it and very hard for dodge having to rely on luck for it not to hit her.

And to make matters worse she would bruise very easily in dodgeball as every time the ball hit her it almost felt like she would explode on impact.

Or at least that's what she thought would happen.

It was the strangest thing, during the first round of the dodgeball she saw the person that was about to throw the ball right at her and the problem was that Alexia knew that she was going to be in trouble. The guy was roughly the same height as her maybe a fraction of an inch taller than her but unlike her, he was quite a built individual, in comparison Alexia's muscles were basically made out of spaghetti.

Alexia knew that he was a part of the schools athletics team which made things even worst when he saw him throw the ball right at her.

Alexia flinched and held her hands up in order to protect her face when she saw the ball coming straight for her and it landed hitting her right on her stomach.

But the strangest thing was that Alexia hardly felt anything when it hit her stomach in fact it basically bounced right off her and felt more like a sponge ball hitting her then the ones her class were using.

And it happened throughout the rest of the matches whenever she got hit, it basically didn't bother her. rather she got hit in the legs, the arms, her body, hell when she got hit in the head she didn't really notice until she saw the ball drop to the floor and knew that it hit her.

"¡Muy bien clase, pongan las bolas en el centro! ¡Vamos a hacer una ronda más! (Alright class, put the balls in the centre! We´re going to have one more round!)" Their PE teacher said.

The rest of her classmates put the balls in the centre of the gym while each team went to their sides of the gym and during that Alexia saw Carla on the other side of the gym on the opposite team.

Though Alexia would still hear people making fun of her what shocked her was that both García sisters weren´t really making any kind of comments towards her which Alexia guessed was because of her helping Carla out during the whole meteor attack yesterday.

Alexia knew that Chloe wasn´t going to be in PE today because she apparently needed to finish off a project for homework apparently.

"¿Por qué el rascacielos se puso en nuestros términos se? (Why did the skyscraper get put on our team?)" Alexia heard someone said but when she looked around no one said anything or even looked at her.

´What the…?´She thought to herself.

"Sinceramente se nota que Leo y ella non son parientes. (Honestly you can tell her and Leo aren´t related.)

"Es tan inútil. (She´s so useless.)"

"¿Crees que la razón por la que sus padres la abandonaron fue porque sabían lo inútil que sería? (You think that the reason that her parents abandoned her was because they knew how useless she´s be?)"

Alexia felt like she was going crazy hearing all these voices, yet she could see that no one was talking at all which was driving her further insane.

She was so distracted that when the teacher blew the whistle it made her jump as everyone ran to the centre of the gym to grab the balls.

When each teams grabbed the balls, Alexia stayed at the back of the gym to try and avoid even though getting hit by the balls didn't even bothered her, but she still didn't want to risk getting hit.

Aleixa then saw three guys throwing the balls right at her and she was about to flinch when she saw something shocking…

It looked like the balls were coming in slow motion.

Because of that Alexia managed to dodge them with little to no effort which shocked her since was her reflexes so good and since when did time move so slowly.

Seeing a ball which missed one of her teammates land near her, Alexia decided to pick it up.

Usually Alexia wouldn't decide to pick it up and throw the balls in dodgeball because she had the physical strength of wet paper despite her height which in dodgeball made her more like a walking target for most people but for some reason Alexia had a sense of confidence because of her dodging all the balls that was able to give her the confidence to at least try.

So Alexia threw the ball that was in her hand.

She was shocked to see how much power she had put into throwing it and to see how fast it was going.

That was until she saw it flying right towards Carla and hitting her…

Right in the centre of her face.

Which to make matters worse since Carla was both running and since she didn't see the ball coming so that when it hit her, she fell like a sack of potatoes.

And fall hard.

When Carla went to the ground, everyone on both teams just stopped what they were, and the teacher blew the whistle to tell everyone to stop as he rushed over to check on Carla.

Alexia just looked wide eyes first at Carla then at her own hands seeing what she had just done to Carla. This made no sense to her she's never been able to generate this much power in her throws before but not only was she able to this time, but she also basically looked like she generate enough power and speed that when it hit Carla, it basically knocked her out.

Alexia just looked at her hands shocked on what she had just done.

"¿Puedes creer lo que le acaba de hacer a Carla? (Can you believe what she just did to Carla?)" Alexia heard the same thing again, no one was talking but she could hear what she believed was their thoughts.

'No… Not again!' Alexia thought desperately to herself, she hated this being able to read everyone´s minds. It wasn´t right and hearing what they thought about her made it worse.

"Apuesto a que lo hizo propósito, para vengarse de todos los comentarios que se hicieron sobre ella. (I bet she did it on purpose, to get payback for all the comments made about her.)

"¿Hacer daño a alguien mucho más pequeño que tú? Menudo matón. (Hurting someone whose much smaller then you? What a bully.)"

"Sé que Carla solía hacer comentarios sobre su altura y otras cosas por el estilo, pero ¿Intentar noquearla por ello? Eso es ir demasiado lejos. (I know that Carla would regularly make comments about her height and other things like that but to try and knock her out over it? That going way too far)"

'No I didn't mean to!' Alexia thought desperately almost with tear in her eyes to herself as she was hearing everyone's thoughts.

"¡Debería avergonzarse! (She should be ashamed!)"

'I wasn't trying to hurt her!' Alexia thought but while her arms were shaking violently but what she and everyone else in the classroom didn't notice because they were distracted with the whole Carla being treated thing was that her arms had some sort of dark purple like tendrils was emerging.

"Es un monstruo sin corazón (She´s just a heartless monster.)"

'Stop it…' Alexia was getting more distress and more upset by the whole thing. Once again no one noticing that that the gym was shaking a bit, and that Alexia's arms were both now glowing the same dark purple colour as the tendrils and along with the tendrils they became strong to the point that it looked more like dark purple vipers were slithering up her arms.

"Como Leo nunca actúa así, te hace preguntarte qué clase de personas eran sus verdaderos padres para que Alexia actuara así. (Since Leo never acts like this, makes you wonder what kind of people her real parents were that Alexia would act like this.)"

That was the last straw.

"NOOO!" Alexia screamed out not being able to take it anymore.

Alexia scream caused a mini earthquake similar to the one yesterday but unlike yesterday's one only really affected the school's gym rather than all of Guadalajara along with knocking all the students off their feet . Alexia scream also caused the light bulbs in the gym to basically blow up and explode causing the gym to become quite dark which was a good thing because the viperlike tendrils on Alexia's arms extended to the all the dodgeballs in the areas to go flying in different directions.

Alexia would soon run out of the gym crying which caused the quakes in the gym to stop.

Alexia soon ran right into the girls changing room and curled up into a ball as she was crying her eyes out, not noticing that now a mini quake was occurring inside of the changing room.

However the quakes soon after Alexia heard one of the lockers fall down which caused all the shaking to stop instantly.

Alexia just couldn't believe what she had done. How could she have done that to Carla? True she and Chloe bullied her but to throw that dodgeball straight into her face and basically knocking her out, she never meant to do that.

And why could she suddenly start reading people's minds?

'What's going on with me?' Alexia asked herself.

Sometime later

Alexia while getting change didn't look at anyone in the eyes and the same was said with the other girls in the room in the changing room though she could still hear their thoughts for whatever reason.

Alexia also noticed that someone who she assumed was Carla's friend went to collect Carla's bag and stuff which made her feel worst.

Alexia knew that break was next, and she was immediately looking for Leo.

"HEY!" Alexia heard someone shout at her and she flinched as it was the last person she wanted to run into after what happened and when she turned saw who she was dreading as Chloe then grabbed onto her shirt and slammed her against a wall.

For Alexia if it wasn't for the situation would find this whole thing funny as since she was seven inches shorter most wouldn't associate either Chloe or Carla bullying her which did let them get away with it.

But Alexia wasn't because of the look of pure rage in Chloe's eyes.

"¿Te importaría explicarme por qué noqueaste a mi hermana en tu última lección? (So Care to explain, why the fuck you knocked my sister out during your last lesson?) Chloe asked with an anger obvious in her tone.

"¡Fue un accidente, no quería dejarla inconsciente! (I was an accident, I didn´t mean to actually knock her out!)" Alexia hastily said trying to get Chloe to understand that she didn´t mean to actually hurt Carla.

But Chloe wasn´t having any of it.

"Oh sí una torre parlante andante pensó que si lanzaba una pelota a la cara de mi hermana no pasaría nada. (Oh yeah a walking talking tower just thought to herself that if she threw a ball right in my sister´s face nothing would happen.) Chloe said with obvious sarcasm, "Sí, eso es una completa gilipollez. (Yeah, that's complete bullshit.)"

"Pero es verdad (But it's true…)" Alexia stammered out to say.

"¿Cómo lo hiciste? (How´d you do it?) Chloe suddenly asked.

"¿Hacer qué? (Do what?)" Alexia asked confused.

"Creerte tus propias gilipolleces, eso es. (Believe your own bullshit, that´s what.) Chloe responded with as she walked closer to her almost getting right into Alexia´s personal space, "¿Diciendo que no querías hacer herir a mi hermana cuando obviamente lo hiciste y tratando de hacerte el inocente? (Saying you didn´t mean to hurt my sister when you obviously did and trying to play innocent about it?)

Alexia was now feeling hurt about the accusations made towards her.

"Chloe, en general fue sólo un accidente. (Chloe it was generally just an accident.)" Alexia was just trying to explain to Chloe, and it was getting worst as a crowd was beginning to gather more and more.

The comment just seem to piss off Chloe more, "Mientes- (You lying-)."

Scared that Chloe was going to hit her or something, Alexia tried to push Chloe off her.

But that made things worst.

As Alexia pushed with a lot more power then she had wanted which caused Chloe to go flying to the wall opposite to them and hit her head on it really hard.

Alexia gasp at what she had done, she hadn't mean to do that only just to get Chloe off her.

And she felt even worst when she saw that there was some blood coming out of Chloe's head.

Alexia couldn't believe it, first Carla and now Chloe, they might have bullied her but that wasn't an excuse to hurt them like this.

"Alexia Rodríguez!" Alexia heard behind her an turned to see Mr Gonzalez who was now glaring at her.

"Señor I- (Sir I-)" Alexia stammered out to say by Mr Gonzalez wasn't having any of it.

"No, me importa lo que tengas que decir Alexia ¡ven conmigo ahora! (I don´t care what you have to say Alexia, come with me now!) He ordered as he grabbed onto Alexia´s arm and almost drag her into the principles office.

Few hours later on the school bus

Alexia managed to get out of being in serious trouble when it was showed Chloe was the one that grabbed her and was being the one that started the whole thing she got off with a slap on the wrist but was warned about what would happen if something like this happen again.

Though Alexia did noticed that Mr Gonzalez was trying to get her into detention but was unable to be she did noticed his unhappy look on his face.

'How this guy ended up becoming a teacher if beyond me.' Alexia thought to herself tiredly to herself.

Alexia also noticed that something felt wrong with her body as she felt like she just finished running a marathon as she also felt like she was sweating like a dog, she also noticed that her joints felt stiff as hell almost like she was a machine that needed oil placed in certain parts because of how hard it was for her to move. She also was having problems with her stomach again, but this wasn't because she was feeling bloated again but because it almost felt like her stomach was doing backflips inside of her or something as not too long after the whole incident with Chloe which no too long after she ended up throwing in the bathroom. Alexia was also really dizzy as hell which is why she was leaning heavily on Leo. Added to the facts that her head was killing her and it makes thing bad to worst.

Especially with a little problem she was having right now.

"No puedo creer que saliera libre después de lo que le hizo a Chloe y Carla. (I can't believe she got off free after what she did to Chloe and Carla.)"

"debería darle vergüenza meterse con gente más pequeña que ella. (She should be ashamed picking on people smaller then her.)"

Her magical ability to somehow read people's minds was making it worst as now it was making it feel like she her heartbeat inside of head.

Leo noticed his older sister's discomfort turned to her concerned, "You alright?" He was concerned for his older sister.

"Yeah, just need to rest when we get back." Alexia assured him.

Though she was lying, she felt worst then she did yesterday.

Soon the bus stopped and that was both Alexia's and Leo's stop as they both walked off the bus with Alexia mostly leaning on Leo to help her get off the bus added to the fact that the more that she heard other people's thoughts, the more that it made her sick.

Leo helped Alexia in walking as the two made their way back home.

The Rodríguez house

During the walk back home there were sometimes that it looked like that Alexia was going to throw up but thankfully it wasn't anything that was too serious and she did manage to look a tiny bit better and managed to walk back on her own without having to lean of Leo.

The two soon entered the front door and they heard the noise the twins were making.

"¡Hermana mayor, hermano mayor, hermano mayor Carlos está en casa! (¡Big sis, big bro, big brother Carlos is home!)" James shouted at them.

"Si y nos enseñò fotos de Florida y de todas las playas tan bonitas que hay. (Yeah, and he showed us pictures of Florida and all the cool and beautiful looking beaches there.) Isabella said not quite as loud but still very excited.

"Vale calmaos los dos, vais a despertar a todo el vecindario (Okay calm down you two, you´ll wake up the whole neighbourhood)" A new voice said as the four siblings turned to meet the source of that voice…

Their older brother Carlos.

Carlos was a very tall six foot three and had a decent muscle build as he wore an Fc Barcelona Lionel Messi (Who she definitely doesn't have a crush on) Jersey, blue jeans, right now was wearing some blue slippers. He had the same hair, skin and eye colour to younger brothers, but his hair was more of a short mohawk .

"What's up you two?" Carlos said with a smirk on his face.

Both Alexia and Carlos went to hug their older brother.

"Well what do we have here? My three eldest children getting along so well." David said with a happy smile as he placed his hands on his eldest son's shoulders.

"What it's been a while since we last saw Carlos." Leo responded.

"Yeah, and we're just happy to see him again." Alexia added.

"Sure whatever you say." Daniel said with a smirk ignoring his eldest daughter and middle son glaring at him playfully, " Now come on everyone dinners ready." He said.

Some time later

Alexia didn't eat too much because she didn't want to risk upsetting her stomach which had been having issues. She also didn't talk too much since her head was still killing her.

Thankfully she couldn't listen to anyone's thoughts for whatever reason, maybe she was hallucinating or something?

"Hey Alex!" Alexia heard Carlos call to her.

Alex was a nickname that Carlos gave to her when she was younger, and he was one of the few people that she would let call her Alex. Him and Leo but Leo didn't because one of his friends is called Alex and he wouldn't want to get muddled up, which she understood.

Carlos looked concerned, "You alright? I noticed you weren't eating a lot back there."

Alexia shook her head not wanting him to worry, "No I'm just a little under the weather that's all."

"My analysis would say otherwise." A voice said and both Alexia and Carlos knew who it was.

"Cortana, I knew that's you." Alexia said as Carlos showed his phone and a hologram of a blue human shape AI.

Alexia knew that her brother was a massive fan of the Halo franchise so when she was five, he created Cortana. Originally, she was formless just data and computer programming but about a year and a half ago, he managed to create Cortana a physical form.

Cortana physical form was somewhat similar to one in the video game, as she was though looked more in her naked female in her late teens to early adult, blueish to purple skin and shoulder length hair somewhat a similar colour to blackish to her.

(AN: Appearance think Halo 5 because personally that's my favourite Cortana in her appearance.)

"My analysis shows that you appear to be unwell and exhausted, if I had to guess it's probably from you staying up all night. Anime binge watching again?" Cortana asked in a very sarcastic tone.

Alexia raised an eyebrow, "You are aware that sarcasm the lowest form of intelligence, right?" Alexia asked.

"Then I guess your just a stupid as me." She responded with.

Alexia forgot how Sarcastic and how much of a smartass Cortana could be.

"Okay enough you two." Carlos interrupted not wanting a fight to break out between the two, "So what is the issue because somethings telling me that it's not just you having lack of sleep."

"It's just I've been feeling under weather since yesterday along with being really stiff." Alexia responded.

"Have you went to the doctors?" Cortana asked.

"No but if I feel like this again tomorrow I might." Alexia responded to Cortana before looking at Carlos, "Anyway can go to my room now? I think I'm going to call it an early night."

Carlos nodded before saying, "Alright just be carful alright?" He asked Alexia as she nodded, "Alright then, night sis love you." He said as he hugged her.

"Love you too bro, night." Alexia responded with they soon separated.

"Goodnight Alexia." Cortana said.

"Night Cortana." Alexia responded with as Alexia left the two and went into her room.

She soon got changed into her pyjamas and went to sleep hoping that in the morning she would feel better and everything would go back to normal.

What she didn't know that yesterday was her last day being somewhat normal and that today was only the tip of iceberg of what was to come.

And that this was only the beginning…

AN: That its for this chapter but before anything when it comes to me adding Cortana, I know some people aren't going to like this but the reason why I choose to add Cortana was because that I just wanted to give Alexia an AI of her own and for some reason instead of making an Oc, for some reason Cortana from Halo just kept coming to my head to add her to the story so that's how we got here.

For the record I would like to confirm that this Cortana will be different then the one in Halo in her personality, as I don't want to make a copy and paste Cortana.

If anyone has an issue with it then let my know because I don't want anyone getting upset by it but personally I like adding Cortana into this story but let me know what you think.
