Dragon Slicing Through the Angry Ice
Shoto Todoroki just left his waiting room for the next match to be himself against Futayo Honda as he remembers seeing her use her Quirk during the last event, slicing through everything with her literal sharpness and that might pose as a problem for him.
But facing Futayo is only second in his thoughts as the first is Midoriya having won his fight against the guy with the brainwashing Quirk.
Just when Shoto made a left turn in the hallway, he was very unpleasant to see the sight of his flaming bastard of a father to be here leaning his back against the wall and his arms cross.
"What do you want?" Shoto asked in a low tone.
"You'r acting disgracefully, Shoto." Endeavor said.
Shoto didn't want to waste any time with his dad right now since he has a match to get to and just kept on walking.
"If you simply used the power of YOUR left side, you would've least had a close overwhelming victory in both of the first rounds. It's time to stop this childish rebellion of yours and start actually moving forward for a change." Endeavor scolded his son.
"You have a duty to surpass the current strongest heroes in Japan including myself and mostly that imbecile All Might." Endeavor said which only made Shoto angrier.
"Do you understand what I'm saying? You're different from your siblings, to become the greatest after me." Endeavor proclaimed.
Shoto was silent for a second before he spoke.
"Is that all you have to say to me, you bastard?" Shoto asked with an insult.
"I'll win this match and advance using only Mom's Quirk. I won't give you the pleasure of seeing me use yours." Shoto determined angry.
"I don't think you'll be saying that again once you face the daughter of Tadakatsu Honda, if she is anything like her old man then she will defeat you in battle if you don't use the fire." Endeavor warned as he walks away.
Shoto growls softly upon hearing that his old man who has been trying to make his own son his "greatest masterpiece" and he's saying he's gonna lose to some girl from another hero school, he'll prove him wrong and win with just his ice.
"I'm going to the top with only the ice in my soul." Shoto determined angrily.
(With Izuku)
Izuku is seen walking to the seating area where his classmates of 1-A are sitting together.
"Deku, over here! You did great!" Ochaco called out to him with a proud fist in the air.
"We save you a seat." Tenya pointed down at the chair next to him.
"Thanks." Izuku smiled and made his way to his seat and heard someone calling out to him, looking over to his left seeing Kimi on top of the wall separating the students.
"Now Izuku, while I do love a good dramatic action as anyone else, I hope you don't plan on scaring me again like that." Kimi said, having felt actual worries for him back there.
"Sorry about that, I was caught off guard from Shinso's Quirk." Izuku apologized.
"Alright everyone, the wait is finally OVER!" Makiko shouted excitedly.
"That's right! Now let us welcome to the ring, our next players!" Present Mic announced with the screen showing Shoto on the left and Futayo on the right.
"This girl comes from a long line of samurai warriors, and I mean a really long time even when Quirks appeared in our world centuries ago! She holds the Bushido code of honor along with some deadly cuts with those hands. Give it up for Futayo Honda!" Makiko announced the girl.
"In the name of the Honda family, I will fight to the bitter end!" Futayo determined.
"Yeah, so Futayo!" Masazumi cheered for her cousin.
"Versus, an early frontrunner in the competition who's way too strong for his own good. Someone who rightfully got into the hero course based on recommendations! The one with the icy stare and a hot soul, it's Shoto Todoroki!" Present Mic introduced the half hair color student.
"Does anyone know how this battle will turn out? I'm a bit nervous." Muneshige admitted.
"From what I can tell, this guy has both fire and ice, yet we only seen him use his ice." Heidi pointed this out.
"Maybe he doesn't like using his ice power for some reason." Ginji guessed.
"That is the impression I am getting whenever I see him just use his ice, and noticed how angry he was at himself when starring down at his left arm." Azuma recalled seeing that moment after the calvary battle.
"Sounds to me like this boy has issues." Miriam theorized.
"I hope Futayo does okay." Masazumi worried.
"Don't worry, this is your cousin we're talking about. Plus, I'm sure she wouldn't want to disappoint her dad by giving this battle half strong." Tomo pointed out.
"Okay, time we get this party started!" Makiko cheered.
"The time of our battle is now; I shall defeat your everything with my own!" Futayo said, getting into a fighting stance.
"I expect nothing less." Shoto said with a fierce glare.
"FIGHT!" Present Mic and Makiko signaled the start of the match at the same time.
(Music: Awake and Alive, Skillet)
"I swear I will make my father proud by winning this fight!" Futayo shouted as she runs toward Shoto.
Upon hearing that Futayo is going to make this battle for her father makes him sick to his stomach with the thoughts of his bastard flaming father, and thinking about that small talk they had earlier is making him very angry.
"Take this!" Futayo unleashed her flying slice attack that Shoto was barely able to dodge, getting a small cut on his right arm.
"Oh, and Futayo delivered the first damage onto her opponent! That's gotta sting." Makiko commented.
Shoto just stood silent while Futayo is still charging at him though she does notice that he does not appear to be whole in this fight.
"Apologizes." Shoto said.
After saying that, Shoto unleash a very powerful and giant wave of ice right at Futayo who was shocked for a second and the ice seem to have consumed her as the wave of ice continues to the stadium wall.
"Oh no, is she okay?" Izuku asked worry.
However, Izuku's worries were unnecessary when the ice suddenly burst into little pieces and the ground is cracked in a perfect slicing hole making its way to Shoto causes a little hole at his shoe.
"What?!" Shoto shocked.
"I'm coming for you!" Futayo shouted as she started running again.
"Holy shit of hero awesomeness! What the Hell just happened!" Present Mic gasped.
"Futayo has always been trained in the ways of the sword for most of her life even when she got her Quirk, and she learned to harness the power to cut through anything with her own swords and the spirit of a swordswoman." Makiko explained with a smirk.
"That girl is the cutting edge of her life!" Makiko commented while Futayo charges at Shoto again.
Futayo sent in two flying slash attacks at Shoto who tries blocking it with a wave of ice to slow it down, but they are sharper than he thought and moves out of the way as they flew past him.
Shoto sent in another big ice attack only for Futayo to slice the ice horizontal and slides on the bottom half to make her way closer to Shoto, she thrust one foot forward at her opponent for a fast-sliding kick that pushes him back even though he blocks it with his arms.
The ice-fire boy turns his head around to see that he is getting very close to the edge of the ring and saw Futyao chasing after him.
"Don't tell me this battle is over already?" Futayo asked, feeling a bit disappointed if this fight ends so soon.
"Not even close!" Shoto formed ice behind him to make a slide lop to avoid the ring-out and slide his way back onto the ring.
Shoto continues sliding higher than Futayo and unleash a huge icy pillar at the samurai girl though she wasn't afraid, she formed a cross with her arms and started swinging her hand at a rapid pace using Slicing Dragonfly make the icy pillar sliced into big pieces and use those pieces to as platforms to jump on.
"Your ice power is very strong, perhaps the coldest I have ever faced even when my father and I used to train in the snow of the mountain!" Futayo complimented.
Shoto try sending in some spikes of ice at Futayo though she dodges some and slices through the others, she came close to landing an attack on him though he was able to dodge, and she falls but was able to land in the ring.
"But I sense you are using half of your power. I can also see hatred in your eyes that you despise your right side." Futayo noted.
"So what if I do?" Shoto angered, not wanting this talk in a middle of a battle.
Shoto unleashes more ice power against Futayo who just stood at one spot and flexes the muscles of both arms and started slashing the ice against into little pieces, the ice just keeps on coming though Futayo isn't stopping with the slicing.
"It looks like Futayo is standing her ground Shoto's crazy giant ice attack and keeping it at bay, but can she keep this up?" Present Mic asked in amazement.
"That depends on Shoto if he can keep up with all the ice." Shota looked down Shoto, knowing despite his massive power of the ice has a limit and the boy may reach his soon.
Futayo moves away from a fast ice attack and unleashes a few flying slash attacks toward her opponent who manages to get out of the way, but those slashes are breaking the ice wall as Shoto quickly got back down on the ring.
"I got you!" Futayo sprinted faster than Shoto could react and threw a knee strike on the chest.
The attack almost knocks the wind out of his lungs and now find himself in a lock hold by Futayo from behind.
"Tell me, why do you hate your other half so much? What makes you want to reject the part of you that was always with you since the day you were born?" Futayo asked while pulling on Shoto's arm causing some pain.
"Why the fuck are you asking such things?" Shoto asked angrily.
"Because you are not focus on this fight for your mind is elsewhere and allowing your hatred to blind your eyes on the here and now." Futayo pointed out.
"If you keep doing this halfway then you will never truly grow as a person nor as a hero for you will forever be a failure of yourself." Futayo scolded.
"SHUT UP?!" Shoto shouted angrily and threw his head back for a backward headbutt on Futayo's face.
The impact of his head causes her to loosen her grip and he manages to break free while grabbing onto her arm to incase most of her body except for her head and half of her hand in ice.
"I'm doing fine just the way I am without having to use the bastard's flames!" Shoto proclaimed and form Futayo's ice trap several feet higher.
"Just like how I'm doing right now to win this fight." Shoto said and he kicked the ice pole causing Futayo to fall backward for the ground outside of the ring.
"Uh-oh, now Futayo is having a fall of defeat unless she can escape from that ice trap." Makiko shocked.
Futayo wouldn't let this be the end of her fight with Shoto because she is the one giving this fight her all while Shoto is only going with half the effort, this made her feel like there's a bad taste in her mouth and wouldn't feel satisfied unless she can make her opponent go all-out.
"I won't lose here!" Futayo broke one arm free from the ice and slice at the rest covering her body as she gets up.
Futayo ran onto the ice right before it touches the ground and jumps over the shocked Shoto.
"Oh man, that's what I call a last-second escape from being taken out of the ring!" Makiko impressed.
"That girl is very dedicated to her strength and heart!" Present Mic commented.
"(Shoto is starting to feel exhausted with having to use his ice so many times, and the cold is effecting his body too.)" Futayo thought noticed how Shoto is breathing right now.
"Just go down already?!" Shoto shouted in rage.
Having watch this entire fight, Endeavor is impressed with that Futayo girl being able to keep up and avoiding most of his son's attacks with her skills and powerful slicing Quirk, she could definitely be the one to help get Shoto finally use his fire or at least start realizing that.
"(Come on, show me at least a spark.)" Endeavor thought keeps on watching the match.
(Music End)
Futayo got into a stance with one hand pointing directly at Shoto with her eyes narrow to lock onto her target.
"Wait, I know that stance. She's gonna use that technique!" Masazumi realized shock.
"Take this!" Shoto unleashed another big ice attack.
"Dragonfly Piercing!" Futayo thrusted her hand and unleash a strong air thrust attack that pierces through the ice and went right at Shoto hitting him right on the right forearm.
"(What? That's not her usual slicing attack?)" Shoto thought shocked.
"Oh, and it looks like Futayo has just unleashed a Honda piercing technique!" Makiko smirked.
"Tell me, did you right side hurt?" Futayo asked, this confuses Shoto to wonder what she is getting at.
Futayo fires another flying thrust attack that got him again on the right leg causing Shoto to groan in pain though tries to power through and attack with ice, but Futayo dodges that.
"It's slower this time." Izuku said.
"You said something, Deku?" Ochaco asked.
"Todoroki's ice has become slower now, he's pushing his Ice Quirk too much and the frostbite will make him weaker too." Izuku said.
"Huh, but how can that happen? It's his Quirk." Denki confused.
"Are you really stupid or something? Even an idiot like you should know this." Kyoka scowled.
"Rock Star Girl is right. Quirks are the extensions of a person's bodily functions, they're like our extra muscle fibers to work out and become stronger, but if you push your Quirk too much then you'll get the drawback of your Quirks that will leave you helpless if not careful." Katsuki explained the basics of Quirks.
"I almost forgotten how smart you are." Denki exclaimed.
"I see, so if Shoto should use his fire of the right side then he should be okay from the overuse of his ice." Suzuki said having to overhear the conversation of UA 1-A.
"But the guy is not budging. What is his deal?" Noriki wondered.
"Perhaps it may have something to do with his father, Endeavor." Elizabeth guessed.
"Your right side feels pain just as your left side can feel pain, every part of you is important to embrace through the good and bad times." Futayo said.
"I said shut up!" Shoto angered as he launches more ice at her.
"If you have only been using half of your power then the same can be said about your reason for becoming a hero. It's only half true while the other half is a lie, empty words with nothing to back them up." Futayo stated as she dodges the ice and slices it up.
"What would you know? I'm not going to give into my father, I won't use his power!" Shoto angered.
"Who says anything about your father or his power. I'm talking to you, Shoto Todoroki. And I'm asking you why have you decided to become a hero, what is your reason for that life!" Futyao asked while charging at Shoto.
"My reason…" Shoto suddenly felt a pause in his mind. He knows it was to prove himself to be better than his bastard father, but there's a deeper meaning to this.
"What has burned the fire within your soul to become a hero, to help those who are broken and scared!" Futyao shouted as she slices through the ice attacks.
"Why is it that you want to become a bright hope for those who are afraid of the darkness!" Futayo asked again as she jumps at Shoto.
"Shoto." A woman's voice spoke in Shoto's mind making him gasp a little.
Shoto dodges one thrust attack forming a small ice wall between himself and Futayo then pushing her toward the edge.
"That won't stop me!" Futayo intended on jumping off and getting back into the fight, but suddenly a big stream of fire came causing her to jump back and that made her step outside of the ring.
"I… use it?" Shoto surprised himself.
"Futayo Honda is out of bond! The winner of this round is Shoto Todoroki!" Midnight announced and the crowd cheers loudly.
"There's that spark." Endeavor chuckled.
"It looks like you have given me your all, even if it was only for a small moment." Futayo smiled, despite losing the match, she's at least happy to have fought a strong opponent as she walks back inside.

Hope you all enjoyed the battle between Shoto and Futayo being WAY longer than Shoto vs Hanta and Futayo giving him a run for his money, and it looks like our blue samurai girl has given him some strong pip talk about embracing his entire being which got him to use his fire at the end of the match. Now that final push will be from our awesome Deku!
