Ash's Pokémon: Pikachu, Charizard, Kommo-O, Hawlucha, Snivy, Sceptile, Espeon, Lucario, Melmetal, Dracovish
"Scott?" Ash spoke in shock.
"Hey, Ash. Long time, no see. Wanna meet up? I wanna offer my congratulations to the Alola Champion." A husky voice spoke through the speaker of the RotomPhone.
"Sure. It'll be great to see you again!" Ash said with a grin.
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed.
"But I am curious about what you have been up to since we last saw each other." Scott spoke.
"Oh you have no idea." Ash said as Pikachu chuckled.
"Well, you better tell me all about it when you get back." Scott said with a low chuckle as he hung up.
Both Pikachu and Ash grinned as they looked at each other, eager to speak to their old friend again.
Inside a local bistro, Ash was currently talking to a chuckling portly man in his early 40s, with curly, brown hair and a pair of shades covering his eyes, dressed in a blue Hawaiian shirt, beige shorts and white shoes with a device on a black cord around his neck.
"Really? You actually went into another dimension?" he chuckled.
"Damn straight, Scott. Ultra Space is well…cosmic!" He said with a grin.
"Man, makes me wish I was there, especially with the fact that you won the league after all this time." Scott spoke, sipping his coffee.
"Yeah, It was awesome! And I also managed to have a proper battle with Diantha and it was a close call as well!" He said with a grin.
"Yeah, I saw. As well as the other Frontier BRains. When they heard the news, they are eager to meet you and congratulate you." He said.
"Really?' Ash asked as Scott nodded.
"Yep. Each one is waiting in their area. I hope you don't mind travelling." He said.
"Hey, it's how I roll. Nothing beats travelling to meet old friends." Ash said with a grin.
"It's been a while since we've been here, Pikachu…" Ash said in a nostalgic tone, with Pikachu agreeing with him. Standing in front of him was a giant silver factory with a glass dome and a PokéBall symbol on the front. There stood the famous Battle Factory.
Soon, the door opened and a familiar voice called out.
"Hey, Ash!"
Standing in the doorway was a man in his 30s with light brown hair and grey eyes. He also had tanned skin with a stubble beard. The man was dressed in a navy blue vest under a sleeveless white coat with a long tail, navy blue pants and red boots. On his hands were a pair of black gloves.
"Noland! Long time, no see" Ash said to the Factory head.
"Ash! You're still alive and kicking!" He said with a grin.
"Yeah! How are you?" Ash replied back.
"Everything is shipshape and my Pokémon are as fiery as ever!' He said before he then smiled whimsically. 'I even met someone a while back as well." He said with a smile.
"Really? Who?"
"I see I need to make my debut…" A cool voice spoke which made Ash turn. His eyes widened as he saw who it was.
"Sabrina?!"
Yes, standing there was a beautiful 23-year-old woman with short, blue hair and red eyes which complimented her pale skin. She was dressed in a spaghetti-strap tank-top which showed her belly, curve-hugging white pants with a black belt holding them up and a pair of pink shoes. On her wrists were a pair of heavy green bracelets.
Soon the woman approached Noland and wrapped her arms around him, which made Ash's eyes widened.
"Hold on! You?!' Ash exclaimed as he pointed at Noland. 'And you?!" He then pointed at Sabrina.
"Yep. Me and her." Noland said with a grin as he pulled her closer.
"How? When?" Ash had to ask.
"Her parents asked me to help with controlling her powers and she came here. After a while, we sort of…clicked." Sabrina responded.
"Huh. Cool!" Ash said with a grin.
"Oh and by the way. An old friend is waiting for you." Sabrina said with a grin.
"Huh?/Pika?" Ash and Pikachu asked with a head tilt.
They got their answer when a familiar laugh caught their attention.
"HAU-HAU-HAU!"
Turning around, Ash saw a smoke bomb which went off in his face, covering both trainer and POkémon in smoke. The culprit? A spiky cloud of purple gas with floating claws and a jagged mouth.
"Haunter! I should've known!" Ash said as he hi-fived the ghost type.
"PIKA!" Pikachu chirped, doing the same thing as Ash.
"He's missed you, you know. And he is pretty eager to show you his training." Sabrina said.
"Wait, so Haunter has been building up his power, huh? Well alright! Let's battle!" Ash said with a grin.
"Well, if we are to have a battle, let's do a double battle.' Noland's gaze then turned sharp. 'There is a certain Pokémon that has been wanting a rematch for a while."
As soon as he said that, a cold air brushed past them.
"Oh, I know that snow…" He said with a grin, for flying above them was Noland's Articuno.
"I know what Pokémon you were talking about in terms of a rematch…" Ash said with a grin as he held a PokéBall, which seemed to glow a fiery orange.
Soon, the three were on the field as both Articuno and Haunter were one the left side of the field while Ash was on the right.
"Pikachu, you ready pal?" Ash asked his partner
"Pika!" Pikachu said as he went to the field into his battle stance.
"OK, Charizard, I choose you!" Ash said as he threw the PokéBall. Charizard appeared and let out a powerful roar. The dragon saw his opponent and grinned.
He was going to enjoy this. Articuno saw Charizard and also grinned as she was getting ready to settle the score.
"I see Articuno recognises an old face." Noland remarked.
"Yep. Shall we?"
"Let's get started." Sabrina agreed as Haunter bared his claws
"Charizard, Thunder Punch! Pikachu, ride Charizard and strike with Iron Tail!" Ash ordered.
Charizard's fist lit up with lightning as Pikachu went on Charizard's back as he flew to the two, Pikachu's tail shining silver.
"Nice trick. But here's mine. Blow 'em away with Hurricane!" Noland yelled as Articuno flapped her wings, which caused a giant gust of wind that blew Charizard off course
"RRAAAA!/PIKAAA!" Ash's pokémon yelled as they went flying.
"Oh no!" Ash said with wide eyes.
"Now for the next step. Dazzling Gleam!" Sabrina spoke
Haunter soon shone as he then unleashed a bright light to the two, but Ash was quicker.
"Oh no ya don't! Pikachu, use Iron Tail to reflect that blast!"
Pikachu managed to right himself as he adjusted his shining tail to reflect part of the light back at the two.
"Now Charizard! Flamethrower!" Ash said
As Pikachu free falled, Charizard let loose a blast of flames at the two.
"Not this time! Water Pulse!" Noland declared
Articuno soon shot an orb of water at the incoming flames, making steam which covered the battlefield. Luckily, Ash was able to use that to his advantage.
"Quick Attack, Pikachu!"
Articuno didn't know what happened but he was then slammed out of the steam by a small yellow projectile.
"Haunter, Ice Punch on PIkachu!" Sabrina ordered.
Haunter's spectral claw soon clenched into an icy fist as he delivered a blow to Pikachu before sending him back.
"Charizard, Use Thunder Punch! Pikachu, use that as a boost with Iron Tail.
Pikachu managed to right himself while Charizard swung his electrified fist, launching Pikachu at high speed as he began to spin like a grinder, slamming into Haunter like a mini disc. While Haunter was disoriented, Ash capitalised on it.
"Thunderbolt!" Ash said as Pikachu electrified the ghost. Haunter then fell to the ground, baked and out cold.
"Curses! I've failed you…"
"No worries!' Noland said as Pikachu began to free fall. 'I'll make it even. Rock Smash!"
Articuno's tail feathers glowed orange and with a trill, sung to slam her tails into Pikachu, who let out a shocked 'PIKA' as he was sent flying into the wall with a resounding thump.
"Pikachu!" Ash spoke in a shocked tone as the electric mouse. Charizard saw this and quickly picked up the out cold Pikachu and handed him to Ash.
"Pika…" he spoke in a dazed tone.
"You did well, buddy. Rest up.' he then looked at Charizard. 'You ready to go, Charizard?"
"RAW!" Charizard grunted as both ice bird and pseudo-fire dragon glared, eager to settle the score.
"Alright, Charizard! Get close and use Thunder Punch!"
"Match that with Rock Smash!"
Both electrified fist and reinforced tail collided in the air as both sides struggled for dominance.
"Use Water Pulse!"
"Oh no you don't! Flamethrower!"
Articuno shot out an orb of water while Charizard let loose a blast of flames. Both attacks collided as an explosion of steam was created, which also knocked them back.
"Not this time, Flamethrower again!"
Charizard recovered as he then blasted Articuno with a torrent of fire, which met its target as the ice bird yelled from the extreme heat.
"Articuno!" Noland yelled in concern.
"Alright! Send him flying with Thunder Punch!" Ash yelled as Charizard rushed with an eclectic fist.
"Slow him down with Ice Beam!"
An ice blue orb soon shot out of Articuno's mouth as the bolts struck Charizard's wings, freezing them thus slowing his flight path.
"Uh oh…this feels familiar…" Ash spoke with dread.
"Damn straight! Water Pulse!" Noland declared.
Articuno fired the water orb at Charizard, who roared in pain as he crash landed into the ground. Charizard growled as he struggled to stand up, panting as he did.
"C'mon, Charizard! Stand up!" Ash urged as Charizard slowly began to stand.
"You sure you can keep going, Ash?" Noland said with a grin.
"No way I'm gonna give up yet!" Ash declared.
Charizard seemed to hear him as he then roared, eyes turning to red slits and his tail flame igniting with the flames within.
"RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" Charizard roared as he was covered in a fiery red aura. Blaze had been activated.
"I see the fire has been ignited." Noland said with a grin.
This was going to be fun.
"Yeah! Flamethrower!" Ash yelled.
But Charizard soon built a large flame in his mouth as the aura around him. Closing his jaw, he then stepped forward and fired the flames right at Articuno, who looked on with wide eyes.
"What the?!" Was all Noland could say when the flames engulfed Articuno. When it died down, Articuno was badly baked as she then hovered lowly, panting from the attack.
"That wasn't Flamethrower…" Ash said in awe, also shocked by what had happened.
"I think Charizard learnt Blast Burn!" Noland agreed. Then he had a brain wave.
"That also means that Charizard won't be able to move for a while. THis is my chance." he thought.
"Quick Articuno! Water Pulse!"
Still exhausted, Articuno fired an orb of water at Charizard, who barely dodged the attack.
"Damn…Charizard is losing a lot of steam…I better settle this once and for all. Charizard, use Thunder Punch!" Ash declared.
Charizard roared as he then rushed forward with an electric fist.
"Water Pulse!" Noland commanded.
Articuno built up an orb of water but Ash was quick on the draw.
"Grab her!"
Charizard closed his electric claw around Articuno's throat, shocking her in his grip.
"Now to end this. A blast from the past! Seismic Toss!" Ash declared.
With a roar, Charizard picked up Articuno and began to spin around at high speed. Soon, Charizard began to dive bomb to the ground and with all of his strength, he slammed the bird into the ground. Charizard was still panting as Articuno tried to stand up.
But it didn't have the strength and just collapsed, eyes closed in defeat.
Ash had the right response.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTT!" Ash yelled with a cheer as he and Pikachu rushed to congratulate Charizard, who licked Ash in affection.
"I see you still got it, Ash." Noland said as he and Sabrina approached Ash, with Noland tending to Articuno's wounds.
"Yeah. Same to you." Ash replied as he sprayed potion on Charizard's arms.
"And if it's all the same, I hope you don't mind taking Haunter along." Sabrina asked.
"It'll be my pleasure." Ash said with a smile and Haunter burst into tears of joy as he hugged Ash's head.
"Hey! Get off!" Ash said as they all laughed.
Ash heard the sound of grunts from inside the old style dojo with the logo on the front.
"Sounds like Greta is hard at work." Ash mused.
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed.
Inside, he saw a bunch of students practising their sparring with the head in front. She was in her 20s with a blond bob which curled below and blue eyes, dressed in a black and purple gi, held by a white belt under a blue unitard and pink and white converses.
Soon, the woman relaxed her stance as she turned around and saw who was at the door.
"Well, well, well.' She mused with a smirk before turning to her students. 'Everyone, take five! I've got an old friend to talk to." She said as they all bowed and left to rest up.
"Hey Greta! That was awesome!" Ash said with a grin as he approached Greta.
"Nice to see you enjoy my class, Mr. Alola Champion." Greta said with a smirk.
Ash chuckled at that.
"Hey, you don't have to call me that. I'm still getting used to that." Ash said with a grin.
"Yeah. I saw that battle. You brought that Kommo-o over? I want to see that fighting spirit." She said with a grin.
"Oh, yeah!' Ash said as he threw a PokéBall into the air. 'Kommo-O, come on out!"
"KOMMO!" The scaly lizard roared out. He then looked around for anyone to fight.
"Sorry, Kommo-o, no opponents this time." Ash said with a sheepish grin.
Kommo-o face faulted in irritation.
"Actually, I want to train and harness that fighting spirit of yours. You don't mind?" Greta asked as she held a PokéBall, throwing it to reveal a pink humanoid with a pink hat like appendage, and pink legs that looked like yoga pants. It also had large pink lips with a slim, grey body. Right now, it was sitting in a meditative position.
"Medicham, up. We have a Kommo-o to test." She said.
Medicham's eyes opened as she stood up. Kommo-o grinned, eager for a battle as they went to the field.
"No orders. No moves. Just use your fighting instincts." Greta instructed.
Both got into fighting stances.
Kommo-o rushed forward with a swinging hook but Medicham bent out of the way. Kommo-o tried another but was met with the same result. Kommo-o then swung his tail but Medicham leapt out of the way and did a double flip kick to his jaw, making the dragon step back. Kommo-o growled at the attack
Soon both raised their fists as they traded punches. Kommo-O swung with power but no precision while Medicham struck quick and concise. Kommo-O then got lucky as he slammed his fist into Medicham's stomach before uppercutting her back. He then stomped to Medicham but the psychic-type fliped up to kick the dragon in the jaw before slamming her heel into his head.
Kommo-o then charged forward and leapt high, slamming his fists onto Medicham before picking her up for a diving powerbomb.
With a slam, Medicham's eyes bugged out before Kommo-o adjusted his hold and did a powerful suplex. Before Medicham could get up, Kommo then began to spin around while holding Medicham before throwing her into another direction. Medicham managed to right herself but grinned as she rushed forward with a quick leg sweep, knocking the dragon of his feet before kicking him into the air. She leapt up and punched him down.
Greta paused the match with a whistle.
"Enough!"
The two trainers stepped forward as Greta spoke her observations.
"Looks like Kommo-O uses overwhelming strength to win. I think what it needs work on is speed and timing. If you want, I can come up with a training regimen for him to improve his combat prowess." Greta asked.
"What do you think, Kommo-o?" Ash asked.
"Kom." He nodded. Nothing wrong with having help in getting stronger.
"Great. In the meantime, stay for lunch. We need to catch up." She said.
Soon, the two were enjoying a protein filled meal while their Pokémon chatted, all the while Greta worked on the training regimen. With that, Ash waved goodbye to Greta as he went to visit the next Brain.
As soon as Ash reached the Battle Stadium, he immediately remembered one part of the place in which he didn't like about.
"IT'S CHAMPION ASH!" One of the reporters yelled as they all charged towards him.
"Oh, deja vu…" Ash moaned as he was swarmed by the reporters, each one eager to get the scoop on why he was by the Battle Dome.
"OK! Enough! You're scaring the poor boy!" A voice called. It was a man in his 20s with red violet hair done in a mix of a bob cut and two high pigtails along with red violet eyes. He wore a flamboyant outfit of a purple and silver unitard and purple boots. There were also six silver like wings shooting out the back.
The press parted and he smiled to greet Ash.
"Ash, my boy! Good to see you!" He said in a joyful tone.
"Hey, Tucker!" He said with a grin.
"Come in, come in! Let's get away from the annoyance that is the paparazzi." He said as he directed him to the inside of the dome.
"Man, thanks for that. I don't think I'll ever get used to the reporters coming." He said with a sigh.
"I understand that. I'm a Top Co-Ordinator and Frontier Brain and I still can't get the press to leave me alone." Tucker agreed.
"So, what did you want me to do?"
"Well, I was hoping to do a performance. There is a contest being held in the Battle Dome and I could use some help for a contest battle. What do you say?" Tucker asked.
"Contest battle huh? Haven't done one of those in a while. Sure." Ash spoke with a grin.
"Then I will meet you on the battlefield." He said with a smile.
The crowd was in an uproar as they gathered here today to witness a special exhibition.
The main MC was ready to speak.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Co-Ordinators all around! Welcome to the special exhibition for this Contest! Here, we have an all star of the Frontier Brains against the all new Alola League Champion!" She declared as everyone cheered.
"And watching this match is…Our three judges!" She announced as she presented the three. One was a man in his late 30s with salt-and-pepper hair and brown eyes, dressed in a red suit. The other was a short man with a shaved head in a blue suit and the final was a woman with pink hair and blue eyes, dressed in a pink nurses outfit.
"It's a pleasure to be here!" The man in red spoke.
"Yes! Remarkable!" The short man added.
"I hope we get to see a wonderful battle!" The nurse spoke.
"And now to introduce our battlers!" She said as the two doors opened.
"He is the new champion of Alola! The conqueror of the Battle Frontier! And the Chaos Magnet of the Pokémon World! He is…ASH KETCHUM!"
Ash came out with a run and a jump as he waved his hands to the roaring crowd.
"And he is the Dome Ace himself! The master of the show! The king of presentation! The one and only…TUCKER!"
Swooping down, Tucker did a flip in the air as he lowered down, waving his arms to the crowd.
"I hope you haven't lost your skills, Ash!" Tucker said, holding a PokéBall.
"I never lost them." Ash said, also holding a PokéBall.
"OK, you two! There is a minute on the clock! The winner is whoever has the most points remaining or the other Pokémon is knocked out! Pick your Pokémon!"
"Metagross, It's show time!"
"Hawlucha! I choose you!"
On Tucker's side was a blue, quadruped robot with a silver X on the face, silver claws and red eyes while on Ash's side was a smaller, bipedal bird with a colourful plumage like a luchador's mask, red and green wings, red legs and a white underbelly. His wings were red on the top while green on the bottom and he did a few flips in the air as he landed in a spectacular pose.
"A great show needs a great performer!" Ash said as Hawlucha posed for the crowd.
"OK, you've chosen your Pokémon, so let's get started! Battle…Begin!" She said as the clock counted down.
The clock started and soon Tucker made his first move.
"Meteor Mash!"
Metagross's left leg glowed as he rushed with a punch.
"And a powerful start from Tucker as he rushes forward with a powerful Meteor Mash!"
Ash's points went down by a few before Ash responded.
"Match that with Fire Punch!"
Hawlucha rushed forward as his left claw ignited as it collided with the Meteor Mash, causing sparkling embers to form which caused Tucker's points to go down.
"And that is countered by a fiery attack from Hawlucha!"
"Now, flip high and dive down with an X-Scissor!" Ash said.
Hawlucha then flipped high above as he crossed his arms and dropped down onto Metagross's back.
"And Hawlucha follows-up with a blistering X-Scissor! Tucker's points are definitely going down!" The announcer said as his points went down.
"Good follow up. But I am not the master of the show for nothing. Use Psychic!" Tucker exclaimed as the X on Metagross's face glowed, holding Hawlucha in place.
"Oh dear, Hawlucha is stuck in position. How will Ash get out of this?"
Tucker, with a flourish of his arms, made the next announcement.
"Now for the Psychic boxing! Bring him over and use Meteor Mash!" He said.
Both claws shone like meteors as Hawlucha was brought to Metagross, who punched him back before pulling him forward and doing it again. It continued as Ash's points went down.
"Oh no! Now Hawlucha is caught in a bind! Will he escape before being a punching bag?"
Ash was quick to intercept.
"X-Scissor!"
Hawlucha managed to recover and crossed his arms to form the X, which managed to loosen the psychic grip the supercomputer had on Hawlucha. When it struck, Metagross was disoriented.
"Now dive down with Flying Press!" Ash said as HAwlucha began to glow as he free fell, wings spread as he then bodyslammed on top of the computer, knocking him back down to the ground. This caused Tucker's points to go down.
"And that was a fabulous counter from HAwlucha! Will Ash follow up?"
"You bet! Hawlucha, Fire Punch!"
Gliding down, Hawlucha''s fist ignited as he quickly slammed it onto Metagross's top, making him scream in pain.
"Use Psychic!" Tucker ordered as Metagross telekinetically launched Hawlucha off his back into the air.
"And Tucker responds quickly with another Psychic! The rhythm has been thrown off course!"
"Now to capitalise on this! Meteor Mash!"
Ash wasn't one to delay.
"Fire Punch!"
Soon, both Pokémon readied their final attacks as Metagross and Hawlucha fists were ready, glowing with their elemental punches before they rushed forward and let lose two strong punches, which collided as they struggled for dominance.
That was when the climax sounded.
"TIME'S UP! And according to the points…."
There was silence until the announcer spoke:
"IT'S A TIE!"
Everyone was silent before they applauded the two.
"Thank you everyone for coming to the show! I hope that is to your liking! Now, I declare the contest…BEGUN!" Tucker said as Ash and him bowed.
"How was being in a contest battle?" Tucker asked.
"Feels nostalgic." Was his reply.
Ash soon came across the next site of the Battle Frontier, which was a long serpentine-like building with the front shaped like a purple snake with red fangs and eyes as well as a yellow mark on the head, with flag pillars in front.
That was where he also came across the next Frontier Brain.
"Hey, Lucy!" Ash called
The person in question was a beautiful woman in her early 20s, with long black hair with two red streaks and red eyes, dressed in a purple halter top, two purple arm warmers, black slacks held by a golden belt and purple heels.
"Huh? Hey, Ash." She said with a small smile.
"How you been?" He asked.
"I've been fine. Not many challengers nowadays. Kind of boring. What about you? THing's been busy since you became the Alola champion?" She asked.
"You have no idea. Wanna go somewhere to talk about it?" Ash asked.
"I know a nice café nearby. We can talk there." Lucy asked.
"And your assistants?" Ash asked.
Lucy was silent before speaking.
"Busy with errands…" She said.
The two were at a nearby café, enjoying some hot cocoa.
"Seriously?! Some dumbass literally tried to hit on you during the battle?!" Ash said with a chuckle.
"Yep. Didn't realise he lost when I launched his Electrode at him, sending him out of the building with Seviper." She said with a snake like grin.
"You can be mean, you know that?" Ash said.
"I try."
Suddenly, the door swung open.
"There you are!"
Coming in and catching the attention was some skinny man with messy black hair and small glasses covering his brown, bloodshot eyes. He was very skinny and dressed in a green t-shirt covered in oil stains and brown slacks and trainers. He was also looking with an angry and intense look.
"Oh great…him" Lucy moaned.
"What's the matter? Surprised to see me? Think you are still better than me when you beat my ass that time?! I bet you are still the same pathetic lady as I first saw you! I will put that on my blog for everyone to see! You should've never rejected me! What's wrong?! Nothing new?!" He began to blabber and Lucy was starting to get annoyed.
Ash, on the other hand, was getting irritated.
"OK, I've heard enough…" Ashs aid as he stood up. The greasy man saw this and held out a POkéBall
"OH? The so called 'Alola Champion'! You think you are so smart and powerful! You probably got there because you're sleeping with someone! You ain't so tough! Let's battle!" he said as he threw the PokéBall and released a large red and white sphere with eyes and a toothy grin.
"Snivy! You're up!" Ash said as he released his grass snake.
"Please! You're pathetic! Use Rollout!"
The sphere rolled towards Snivy but Ash knew how predictable it was so he simply ordered this.
"Vine Whip and pick up Electrode!"
Snivy's vines launched and picked up the ball, who looked confused along with the trainer.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" the geeky man screamed.
"Ending this quick. Ready and launch!" Ash said.
With one dismissive look, Snivy threw the Electrode at the man, who was then launched out of the café.
"I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!" He yelled but he was then grabbed by an Officer Jenny.
"Oh no you won't! I've been wanting to catch you for a while, you pest!"
Soon, the man was struggling in her grip as he was frog marched to the station.
"Thanks, Snivy." Ash thanked his Pokémon.
Snivy said nothing but she did smirk when Ash came and picked her up in his arms.
Lucy chuckled lightly at the cute sight.
Soon, Ash and Pikachu decided to make their way up to the top of a grassy hill, the lush green grass gently swaying in the breeze as they looked at the clear blue sky.
"Man…it's always nice to have days like this…" Ash said.
"Pika…" Pikachu sighed in agreement.
"Moments like this? It makes you appreciate the nature and wonderful world of Pokémon when not going to the busy cities. All of this nature is untouched by human hands. Don't get me wrong, going to new towns and cities are cool but, just seeing this natural area…feels like I'm at peace." Ash mused.
"That's true, young champion."
Turning around, both Ash and Pikachu smiled at who came.
"Spenser."
It was a middle-aged man with black skin, a long white beard and two blue tattoos on his shoulders. He wore a blue robe and orange toga plus blue sandals while holding a cane.
"Good to see you, boy. How have you been?" Spenser asked as he took a seat.
"Right now…just been enjoying meeting up with the old Frontier Brains. Was about to meet you when we had to take a look at this view."
"Ah, yes. The view of nature. It is wonderful to see how nature remains beautiful when it is allowed to flow with the rhythm of time. Nature is always growing and always receding. It's the circle of life." Spenser said with a smile.
"Yep.' Ash's eyes then widened. 'Oh right. I got someone that wants to meet you." Ash said as he opened a POkéBall. The occupant then saw who was with Ash.
"Ah, Sceptile. Good to see you are in good health." Spenser said with a smile.
"Scep!" Sceptile greeted.
"I suppose I should also bring out my old friend as well." Spenser said as he opened up his PokéBall, revealing a giant mud statue with a rounded, oblate-shaped head with a peg-like protrusion extending from the center of the top of its head. Along the circumference of its head are many round, pink eye-like structures alternating with yellow studs or beak-like protrusions between each "eye". There were also two stubby arms as well and the front was covered in white circles with yellow dots in the center.
"Claydol…" It droned.
"Shall we take a walk?"
"Yeah…"
With that, Ash and Spenser along with their Pokémon took a walk through the area, feeling the cool breeze as they watched all sorts of Pokémon play along the field. They then came across a fruit tree that had just sprouted. With Sceptile's quick work with Leaf Blade, the group sat down and enjoyed the fresh fruit.
"You know, Ash. This little field sure is relaxing." Spenser said.
"Yeah. While it's nice to go on a journey, there is something about just sitting down to smell the roses that just soothes the soul." Ash spoke.
"Speaking of which…' Spenser then reached into his robes and pulled out two PokéBalls. 'I need you to do something for me." He said.
"Huh? Two Pokémon?" Ash asked.
"Yes.' He said in a serious tone. 'These two Pokémon had both lost their families and are rather fragile and untrusting of humans. One was a father but lost his family while the other is an orphan who lost hers. Both due to hunters. I figured you would help them trust humans again."
Ash nodded.
"I'll see what I can do."
Spenser smiled as he threw the PokéBalls into the air.
The first was a female humanoid in white with the lower park formed like a tutu, with thin green legs and a green head like a bob cut plus two red horns on her head, who looked more reserved and shy and was hugging a giant green dragonfly with red lenses covering his eyes and kite shaped wings, with two claws and a long tail with a fan shape at the end. It seemed older with slight wrinkles and was standing in front of the Gardevoir, protecting her as Ash stepped forward.
"A Kirlia and a Flygon…" Ash whispered as he took a step forward as the Flygon growled.
"Relax…I won't hurt you…" He said with a gentle smile that eased them but still they looked at Ash with suspicious looks.
"I don't know what had happened to your families that made you distrustful of humans…but I am not like them. Not all of us are as nasty as those hunters. I ain't the perfect trainer, they don't exist. I mean, I'm wild and headstrong and am still trying to get used to being the champion of Alola. But I will treat you guys like my own family." He said with a smile.
Both Flygon and Kirlia looked at each other as if they were communicating through their minds. After a while, they looked at Ash and nodded their heads.
"Nice. Welcome to the family." He said as he took both of their PokéBalls.
"Not going to return them?" Spenser asked.
"Nah. I think them being out will help build trust." He said.
"Good idea. Now then' He then pointed to the rest of the fruit. 'Shall we continue?" He said as they all went to enjoy their meal.
Ash and Spenser even saw Flygon feed and care for Kirlia who pouted at the dragon's actions, much like a father and daughter.
"What a nice father/daughter duo…" The two thought together.
Soon, Ash made his way to the next destination, with it being a giant blue tower with a PokéBall symbol on the front.
Before he could enter, the owner of said building came out and tackled Ash in a hug. It was a petite 16-year-old girl with lilac eyes and a lilac bobcut, dressed in a white long sleeve shirt with yellow buttons, lilac slacks and black shoes.
"Ash! It's good to see you!" She said with a squeal.
"Hey, Anabel!" Ash said as he returned the hug.
The two then separated.
"How you been, Anabel?" Ash asked.
"Busy. I got a new job and it's taking up my time. What about you? You are now a champion of Alola." Anabel asked.
"It's been surreal. I still have moments of thinking it is a dream, winning that trophy."
"You tell me all about it. How about we go to the area where we first met?" Anabel asked shyly.
"Oh, I know where." Ash said with a grin.
Soon the group were at the lake where they first met.
"Remember how we met?" Anabel had to ask.
"Yep. I ran into an angry Beedrill as well as an angry Gyarados and you calmed them down." Ash said with a smirk.
"Yep. And when your rematch came, it happened again." She said with a smirk.
"Yeah. But I guarantee that won't happen the third time around." He said before laughing…and that was when he heard the buzzing.
"Um…Ash?" Anabel said in a nervous tone.
His smile fell as he spoke in a deadpan tone.
"There's a swarm of Beedrill behind me, isn't there?" He said.
"Yep." Anabel said with a deadpan tone.
"Stingers out and ready to attack?" Ash asked.
"Most likely." Anabel confirmed with a nod, deadpan look and all.
Ash was silent before speaking.
"Bring it on." Ash said.
Soon they all began to run as the swarm chased them.
"I GOT A FEELING OF DEJA VU!" Anabel yelled.
"LESS TALKING, MORE RUNNING!" Ash replied.
As soon as they put some distance, Ash quickly took two PokéBalls out.
"Lucario and Espeon! I need your help!" He yelled as he threw them, the capsules opening to reveal the aura jackal and the psychic cat.
"YOU HAVE AN ESPEON?!" Anabel asked in a loud tone.
"NOW'S NOT THE TIME! LUCARIO, AURA SPHERE! ESPEON! PSYCHIC!" Ash ordered.
Lucario leapt up and launched a sphere of aura at the bees while Espeon managed to hold them in place as the sphere struck, knocking them out of the sky. But it didn't stop the bees as they came swarming with their stingers.
Now Lucario and Espeon knew they were strong fighters. Lucario had an aura bond with Ash and could Mega Evolve to form a giant Aura Sphere and Espeon was part of a special group to stop the vines from spreading and save people…but they were frightened by the large swarm so they ran.
"WELL THAT DIDN'T WORK!" Ash yelped.
"LET ME TRY SOMETHING!" Anabel replied. She quickly turned and spreader arms.
"BEEDRILL! I don't know why you're attacking, but I assure you, we don't have malicious intentions! Heed our words as truth and turn back!" Anabel declared.
The bees with stingers tilted their heads before they flew back. Both trainers sighed in relief.
"That was close…" Ash said.
"Yeah…still don't know why they chose to attack?" Anabel asked.
"Beats me." Ash answered.
"Anyways…' She then turned to look at Lucario and Espeon. '...I never knew you caught a Lucario and Espeon." Anabel asked as she analysed the two.
"Yep. I hatched Lucario when he was a Riolu and Espeon was actually with one of my other Pokémon and formed a group with him."
Anabel then looked closer at the two with an analytical gaze, making them shrink back in slight discomfort.
"Hmm…I sense something powerful within these two. Something when brought out can change the flow of the battle…" Anabel said in a low voice.
"You got that right…" Ash thought to himself, recalling Lucario's mega evolution and Espeon's battle bond form.
"I wonder how powerful they are…" Anabel asked herself.
Suddenly, a roar caught their attention. Looking up, they saw two giants leap down. Both were giant, grey half-dino half-rhino with a shovel like head and a drill horn.
"Uh oh…Rhydons!" Anabel said as they roared and got ready to attack.
But Ash smirked.
"Say Anabel."
Anabel looked at Ash.
"You want to see that inner power? Well, let me show you."
Ash then raised his glove and tapped the stone, soon waves of light emitted from the stone to another that was hanging in the air as Lucario was covered in pink light.
"Alright, Lucario! Let's show them what we can do! Lucario? MEGA EVOLVE!" The light died down and Lucario roared in his Mega Form.
Now his cream fur was longer, and his thighs slim down. More spikes form on the back of its paws, which have turned crimson. Spikes developed on both of his feet, which have become crimson too. Its previously red eyes are now orange-coloured. The appendages grew longer, and two of them are tipped in crimson and extra spike shoulders.
Soon Ash spread his legs as Espeon did the same as he felt the auras between them link.
"LET'S GET STRONGER! AND STRONGER! AND STRONGER!" He roared as the two linked and Espeon was covered in sunlight. Soon it dies down to reveal her battle bond form.
Anabel watched in awe.
"Wow…"
The twin Rhydons roared as they charged to Espeon and Lucario, both were ready to fight.
"Espeon! Psychic!" Ash declared as he swung his arms down. Espeon followed his movements as a blast of psychic energy shot from Espeon's glowing eyes, holding them in place.
"Lucario, Bullet Punch!" Ash added as the jackal rushed forward, fists silver as he primed them. He then unleashed a flurry of punches on the two Rhydons, both yelling from the impact as they were sent back.
"Nice! Let's keep it up and use both Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere!" Ash said as he made a charge motion with his fists, with both Lucario and Espeon forming their respective attack and fired at the two.
Both Rhydons growled as they charged forward, horns spinning like drills.
"Watch out, Ash! They're using Horn Drill!" Anabel warned him.
"Espeon, blind them with Dazzling Gleam!" Ash ordered as Espeon unleashed a blinding light, which disoriented the two.
"Now, to end this. Lucario, Aura Sphere and Espeon, Psychic to send them flying!"
Lucario soon formed a large Aura Sphere, which cast a shadow on the two. Both paused their assault when they saw it, eyes widened at the sight. They roared in fear when the Aura Sphere made contact with them and launched them into the air. Espeon soon caught them in her psychic grip and proceeded to telekinetically push them out of sight.
Both roared as they disappeared with a twinkle.
"And that's how we do it." Ash said as Lucario and Espeon turned back to normal, both slapping his hands with their paw and tail.
Anabel saw this and went to Ash with a hug.
"That was amazing!" She said with a blush on her face.
"Thanks. You wanna head back?" He asked as she pulled away from him.
"Yeah…" Anabel agreed. She had enough excitement for one day.
Right now, Ash was in the Pokémon Center, having just sent both Flygon and Kirlia to Prof. Oak's lab. He and Pikachu were resting up before they met with the final brain.
"Man…I hope Brandon is available. It'll be nice to meet him again." He said with a sandwich in his mouth.
"Pika." Pikachu agreed, eating some Pokémon food.
"I hope he is still as strong as ever. Remember that battle we had the third time around? Where we had to call on Charizard, Bulbasaur and Squirtle in order to beat him after the last two times didn't go so well." He said,
Pikachu agreed. That Regice of his was annoying as hell. He got lucky with that final blow that put it on ice.
"Excuse me, Mr. Ketchum?' The Nurse Joy spoke from her desk. 'Incoming call for you."
"OK." He said as he received the call.
On the screen was a serious looking man in his 40s with short brown hair and narrow black eyes, dressed in a green jumpsuit, black boots and a satchel around her waist. He had a furrowed brow but let a smile show on his face.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't ol' Ketchum himself." He said with a smirk.
"Brandon! Long time no see!" Ash replied with a smile.
"I've heard you recently reached the rank of Champion. To think, a few years ago, you were a runt busting through the Battle Frontier and now you are standing alongside the top trainers in the world."
"Yep. A lot has changed. Say, where are you right now?" He asked.
"Look outside and you'll find out." Brandon said before hanging up. That was when he heard the sound of a roaring engine. Stepping out, Ash saw a giant black pyramid with two giant turbines hovering outside the center, landing in front of the building. And stepping out was Brandon himself.
"Ash! Nice to see you!" Brandon said as they were out in the open.
"Hey, Brandon! What's happening?" He asked with a grin.
"Nothing much. But I came to see you as I need your help." He explained. Ash looked confused at the statement.
"See, I have heard about some place called the Alter of the Sunne. I want to do documentation on the area and Lusamine had told me that you are familiar with the area."
Ash was silent. It had been a while since he went to that area and it felt nice to do so.
"So, you wanna come?" He asked with a grin.
"Only if I get to battle you on the way here." Ash said with a grin.
Brandon laughed.
"Glad to see some things never change. Sure thing. It's been a while since I really let loose." Brandon agreed as they stepped in and the Pyramid took off.
Both were on opposite sides of the field as they got ready.
"So, how do you want to do this?" Brandon asked.
"Double battle. Plain and simple." Ash answered.
"Fine by me!' Brandon held two PokéBalls in his hands as he threw them. 'Regirock and Regice! I need your assistance!" He declared as they opened to revealed two golems
One was made of rock with a mix of light brown and orange rocks for shoulders and some sections being orange as well. On its face were orange dots in the shape of an H.
The other was a living iceberg with arms shaped like ice and more sticking behind its back with light yellow dots in the shape of a horizontal cross.
"Regirock and Regice huh?" Ash said with a grin. Pikachu got on all fours, ready to battle but Ash put a hand out.
"Wait, Pikachu. I've got two others to go for." Ash said as the mouse fell backwards.
"OK, Melmetal and Dracovish! I choose you!"
Melmetal appeared onto the field with a grunt and Dracovish turned around and bit Ash on the head.
"DRACO!" The fossil said in joy as he numbed Ash in his jaws.
"I love you to, Dracovish but GET OFF!" Ash yelled as he struggled.
Brandon blinked.
"I heard rumours of the first Melmetal and Dracovish. The Melmetal is what I expected but the Dracovish is rather affectionate." He said.
"Tell me something I don't know!" HE said as he finally pried Dracovish off.
"Dracovish, we are battling an old friend of mine. You ready?" He asked.
Dracovish nodded as he took his place, stomping on the ground as he got ready to battle while Melmetal raised his fists.
"Regirock and Regice! Focus Punch on them both!" Brandon demanded.
Both golems' fists glowed blue as they rushed forward to swing.
"Dodge, both of you!" Ash commanded.
Slamming his fists into the ground, Melmetal was able to leap into the air while Dracovish simple leaned back as the two fists swung and missed the mark.
"Now Double Iron Bash!"
Melmatal spun in the air and launched two powerful haymakers at Regice, knocking it back and disorienting him.
"Dracovish, bite down with Fishous Rend!"
Dracovish soon stepped back up and clamped his jaws around Regirock's arm as it exploded.
"What on earth?!" Brandon exclaimed.
Regirock tried to pry his arm away from Dracovish, but the fossil hung on.
"Oh yeah, now blast away with Hydro Pump!" Ash said with a grin.
"DRRRRAAAAACOOOOO!" With a glare, Dracovish fired a large column of water, which sent the golem flying into the distance.
"Impressive. You have definitely improved over the years. Now we play for keeps. Regirock! Zap Cannon!"
Regirock formed an electric orb and fired at Dracovish.
"No you don't! Ice Fang!"
Dracovish once again opened his mouth as it started to show a cold aura. With a chomp, it ate the Zap Cannon but it still electrocuted the fossil as it turned to shards.
"Melmetal, return the favour with Thunderbolt!"
Melmetal soon began to spark as it launched electricity to the golem, who felt stunned from the attack. When it subsided, Regirock began to feel sluggish as it sparked in paralysis.
"Awesome! Dracovish, use Dragon Rush!"
Dracovish began to run as a draconic aura surrounded him.
"Regice! Ice Beam!"
Regice fired a beam of ice at the charging fossil and managed to halt his assault by freezing him in place.
"Uh oh!" Ash said with wide eyes.
"Now Zap Cannon!"
Regice fired an electric orb at Dracovish, sending him flying. Dracovish managed to roll backwards into a standing position as he pawed the ground, ready to battle.
"Nice to see you are still able to battle, Dracovish!" Ash said with a grin
"Draco!" Dracovish responded.
"Melmetal, Double Iron Bash!"
Melmetal began to spin again and launched his fists right at the two golems.
"Focus Punch, both of you!" Brandon demanded.
Both golems matched the two fists, which caused Melmetal to retract.
"OK, nice to see that they are still as powerful as ever. That's expected from Brandon." Ash said to himself as he thought of a plan to win.
"Hmm…I know they are slow but so are Melmetal and Dracovish…wait…but they aren't that agile…I know!'
"What's wrong? You aren't giving up, are you?" Brandon asked.
"Nope, just thinking of a plan. Dracovish, when I give the signal, leap onto Melmetal's back." Ash told his fossil, who garbled in puzzlement. Ash gave a look which said trust him.
"Let's see what you have planned. Focus Punch!" Brandon commanded as the golems rushed to punch their opponents.
"Melmetal, Earthquake! Dracovish! Now leap!"
With a roar, Melmetal raised his fists as he slammed them onto the ground just as Dracovish leapt onto Melmetal's back. The impact not only caused Regirock and Regice to stop and stumble, but both mythical and fossil were launched into the air.
"Now Melmetal, grab Dracovish and spin him around to launch at Regirock!"
Melmetal did just that, spinning around like a top at high speed. Soon, with one launch, Melmetal launched Dracovish at high speed, jaws wide as he went to Regirock.
"TIme to combo! Fishous Rend and Dragon Rush! Go Abyss Dragon's Jaw! And spin for good measure!" Ash said.
Dracovish's jaw soon glowed as the draconic aura surrounded him, forming a large blue dragon maw as he then began to spin. The jaw was huge and soon with one chomp, it bit down on Regirock, who grumbled in agony from the hit. When the smoke cleared, Regirock's lights were out as Dracovish flipped forward and spat the golem out, laying Regirock on the ground, out like a light.
Brandon looked shocked but Ash wasn't done yet.
"Now Melmetal! Double Iron Bash and Thunderbolt for Double Dynamo!" Ash said.
Melmetal began to spark as he began to spin at high speed.
"All or nothing! Hyper Beam, Regice!"
Regice formed an orb in its hands as he fired just as Melmetal launched his electric fists. They cut through the beam struggle as he then slammed them both twice into Regice, with electricity shocking the iceberg, burying it deep into the ground. When it cleared, Regice's lights dimmed.
Brandon was shocked at the performance, but he smiled.
Ash meanwhile, leapt up in victory as Dracovish charged ahead and bit Ash's head in joy while Melmetal hugged his trainer in a bear hug.
"You did it guys! You were so cool!" He congratulated
"Well, I can tell that you have improved since last time. Nice to see you didn't slack off." Brandon congratulated Ash.
"Thanks Brandon." He replied.
"Let's hope we arrive soon. In the meantime, want some lunch?" He offered.
"Yeah."
With that, the two headed to get some food, while the Pyramid headed to its destination.
The pyramid soon arrived at a collection of old ruins, with a small patch of green and stone along with a pillar that had a stone design on the front.
"So, this is the Alter of the Sunne…" Brandon mused to himself.
"Yep. Had an adventure that was out of this world, if I do say so myself.' Ash said as he felt nostalgia build up in him. 'I actually helped care for a friend of mine before he had to go back."
Brandon, who was busy filming and taking notes, raised a brow at that.
"Oh?"
"Yep.' Ash sighed, arms behind his head. 'Met him in the forest one day after a dream and I was caring for him ever since. Soon came the day where he evolved and I had to ride him to save my friend's mom. He is still around but…" Ash trailed off from that.
"You miss him?' Brandon asked as Ash nodded his head. 'Yep. It's never easy for trainers to let Pokémon go. It's like a parent sending their kid into the big world. It has to happen but it's not easy."
Ash smiled at that. That was when a roar was heard in the sky.
"What was that?" Brandon asked in confusion.
Ash and Pikachu smiled. They knew who it was.
"NEBBY!" Ash yelled, waving his hands.
Coming down was a giant, white lion with a purple face shaped like a mini galaxy and white jaw. It also had black paws and his body was decorated with yellow and orange markings.
Nebby came down and quickly nuzzled Ash.
"How are you, boy?"
The solar lion nuzzled Ash in joy before he saw someone else.
"Oh, right. Nebby, meet Brandon. He's here to look at the Alter. I hope you don't mind."
Nebby looked at the Pyramid King with a gaze, which was returned before he nodded in agreement.
"Excellent. Time to get to work." Brandon said as he asked his boys to get the equipment. Soon, they began to record and analyse the area, taking notes on the geology and site. Ash helped out as well, telling them about the area and moving equipment, all under the watchful eye of Nebby.
Soon, it was sunset and Brandon looked pleased.
"This is some top-notch research. I thank you for the help." BRandon said.
"Don't worry about it."
"You want a ride back?" Brandon offered.
"Thanks but I have my own ride. But first…' Ash then held out a PokéBall. 'I've been meaning to do this for a while now." He said as Nebby tapped the capsule and entered the open sphere. It shook three times before it clicked to confirm Nebby's capture.
Ash then released it as Nebby purred when the trainer climbed onto his back.
"It was great seeing ya again, Brandon!" Ash said as both Nebby and the Pyramid hovered.
"You to!" Brandon agreed as he entered the Pyramid.
Soon, both raced away, flying into the sunset.
"Man was it great seeing the Kanto Battle Frontier again." Ash said as he was back home in Pallet, allowing his new Pokémon to mingle with his other Pokémon.
"Pika…" Pikachu agreed.
"You know…' Ash then spoke in a knowing tone. 'We are still in Kanto, so we may as well visit another place nearby."
"Pika?" Pikachu asked in confusion.
"I'm talking about the set of islands we visited after the Kanto League years ago." Ash clarified.
Pikachu's eyes widened as he knew what he meant.
"Yep. We're gonna visit the ORange Islands again."
Hot DAMN, it took a long time to finish the chapter! But yeah, I think I did a good job in time for the anniversary of Ash leaving the Anime.
Also, I think you know but after a long time, we are getting a Pokémon Z style game! And we are getting the return of Mega Evolutions! Sweet!
Also as I am sure you noticed, I had the return of some old friends in the form of Haunter and Nebby as well as two new companions.
The Father/Daughter duo of Flygon and Kirlia is actually a shout out to an old fic I read back in the day called "The Return of the BEtrayed Guardian" by Knight of Kanto. It was during the "liking Ash betrayed fics" phase I went through and I feel nostalgic.
And yep, next time is visiting the Orange islands.
Also Charizard proving he is the beast in taking out Articuno again and learning a new move is apex. Plus Dracovish and Melmetal join Pikachu, Charizard, Scpetile and Glalie in the Legend Slayers group.
Speaking of:
Abyss Dragon's Jaw - Fishous Rend + Dragon Rush = User charges up Fishous Rend and Dragon Rush, which turn into a giant blue dragon jaw. The user bites down and it deals a lot of damage
Double Dynamo - Double Iron Bash + Thunderbolt = User charges up thunderbolt as Melmetal spins around and electrifies its arms before slamming hard twice with powerful charged punches.
Hope to see you next time.
Omake: Two Rhydons for Two Rockets
A blue haired man and red haired woman plus walking cat were walking down the road when the two Rhydons from before landed in front of them in a heap.
"What the?! When did it start raining Rhydons?!" The cat exclaimed.
"Who cares?! I think we found ourselves some powerful Pokémon for the boss!" The redhead exclaimed. Both male and female quickly captured the Rhydons and made a call to the head office.
A few minutes later, they handed the PokéBalls to a red and white bird, holding a sack who thanked them and took off. The three smiled in glee at that.
"Adding extra power to the Rocket ranks? We will be getting a lot of thanks!" They cheered.
