Woody's Pokémon Journeys
The Mermaid and the Gumball Machine!
(AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is Hazel's second major episode, the first one being "Fun in the Sunflora!")
Narrator: Woody's goal is to collect all the Gym Badges in Paldea in order to qualify in the Paldea League and beat Geeta, the Champion of Paldea. Geoff's goal is to complete the Pokédex and catch every kind of Pokémon, including Mew. These are the stories and adventures of these two Trainers in the world of Pokémon.

Lusamine: I'm… I'm sorry, Benson. It's not you, it's just… the math classes I'm having trouble with. I think we should just be friends.
Benson: What do you mean?
Lusamine: This… dating thing isn't working out ever since Mohn, my father, dumped me. It's been almost a year since your arrival to Paldea and, to be honest, I want the two of us to be friends.
Benson: What? You've got to be joking me.
Lusamine: I'm not joking, Benson. You're a good guy and all, but I don't know when you and your friends are coming back. Are you sure you're going to be okay?
Benson: I'll be fine. I'll be fine.
(But Benson didn't take the breakup easily. He was seen drinking beer and vodka, trying to feel happy.)
Benson: Lu-u-samine! Why?!
Faith: Benson, are you okay?
Benson: Oh. Hi, Faith.
Faith: [sniffs] Do I smell alcohol in here?
Benson: [cries] Ye-e-e-e-e-es!
Sharon: Benson, why does it smell like alcohol in here?
Benson: It smells like alcohol in the bedroom because Lusamine dumped me! [crying]
Sharon: I'm so sorry for your loss, Benson. Come have a hug.
(Sharon and Benson hug.)
Benson: Thanks for the hug, Sharon. That makes me feel better. [resumes crying]: But that doesn't cheer me up!
Faith: Here we go again…
(Song: The Challenge of Life)

(The scene changes to show Woody's Pikachu, Oinkologne (Male), Pawmot (Male), Koraidon, Appletun, Armarouge, Clodsire, and Skeledirge, alongside Woody himself, jumping into the air, alongside Faith and Meowscarada, Oinkologne (Male), Pawmo, Shelgon, Togetic, Ceruledge, and her Typhlosion (Hisuian Form). Geoff and Houndoom, alongside Finizen, Veluza, Capsakid, Bramblin, Miraidon, Flamigo, Litleo, Foongus, Tandermaus, Fuecoco, Oricorio (Pa'u Style), Nymble, Grafaiai, Smeargle, Bellossom, Skunktank, Cetoddle, Swirlix, Slurpuff, Musharna, Banscream, Iron Bundle, Calyrex, Spectrier, Jynx, Gourgeist (Average Size), Polteageist, Misdreavus (Aevian Form), Zapdos (Galarian Form), Horsea, Seel, Jellicent, Snorunt, Snowlow, Glimmet, Munchlax: {Delta Form}, and Snowrong also appear alongside Woody and Hydro, with Bullwinkle and his Quaxwell, Oinkologne (Male), Greavard, and Rabsca appearing alongside the trio.)
Woody and Geoff: [both reading the title] "The Mermaid and the Gumball Machine!"
Narrator: Our heroes were almost done with their Kitakami trip, but were soon heartbroken when Benson got dumped by Lusamine, an Alolan professor.
Benson: Woe is me…. Woe is me.
Faith: What are we going to do to cheer Benson up?
Sharon: [to Benson] Benson, what if I told you that I'm great at baking?
Benson: [sniffles] Y-you are?
Sharon: Sure, I can bake anything you'd like. Wantme to bake you something?
Benson: [blows his nose on a tissue] Sure. How about some cake?
Benson: Sure. Maybe some cake will cheer me up.
(Sharon starts to bake Benson's chocolate cake. After a few hours, the cake was done.)
Benson: Wow, you really outdid yourself with your baking, Sharon.
Sharon: Thank you. I used to be great at catering when Faith was just a baby.
Benson: No problem, Ms. Miller. I'll go eat this cake next to the ocean.
(Benson is seen near the ocean as he eats his chocolate cake. He changed out of his Paldean kimono to a swimsuit-like tank-top and a pair of dark blue swim trunks.)
Benson: At least eating cake will make me forget about Lusamine.
[Waves crashing on beach]
Benson: [takes a bite out of his piece of cake] Man, Sharon really went all out on the chocolate.
(Suddenly, a wave splashes Benson and the gumball machine was sent adrift into sea.)
Benson: [tries to swim back to shore] Must get back… to beach! It's no use. I have trouble swimming in deep water.
(Another wave hits Benson and he was sinking to the bottom of the ocean.)
(Meanwhile…)
Hazel: Bye, Mom, I'm going out for a little bit.
Marina: Have fun, Hazel. Just don't get hurt or anything.
Hazel: Mom, I'm turning 20 on April 25th, Of course I'll be fine.
(Benson was seen near Hazel's undersea house, drowning.)
Hazel: Mom! Mom! There's a man drowning!
Marina: [looks at Benson] Oh dear.
(Marine gives Benson CPR and a full-face swim mask to breathe in. Apparently, he woke up and blushed immediately after encountering Hazel and her mother Marina.)
Benson: Where am I…?
(Benson yelps after encountering Hazel.)
Benson: Who are you?!
Marina: Pardon us. My name is Marina and this is my daughter, Hazel.
Hazel: Pleased to meet you, Mr. Gumball Machine.
Benson: "Mr. Gumball Machine"? My name is Benson.
Hazel: Pleased to meet you, Benson.
Benson: Thanks for reviving me, Hazel, but I must be going. Woody and I are trying to find Bloodmoon Ursaluna.
Hazel: What's that?
Benson: Ursaluna is a Pokémon from Hisui, Sinnoh's ancient region.
Hazel: Can I come with you?
Benson: Sure. But how are you going to defeat Ursaluna? You're a mermaid for Arceus's sake.
Hazel: I can transform into a human with this mermaid necklace.
(Hazel's mermaid necklace features both a mermaid transformation and a human transformation.)
Benson: Well, let's head to my house!
(At Carmine's house…)
Carmine: Hi, Benson, who's that with you?
Benson: Carmine, Kieran, this is my new girlfriend, Hazel Neptune Miller.
Mordecai: [wolf-whistles] You're such a hottie, Ms. Hazel.
Hazel: [giggles] Thanks, Mordecai.
Mordecai: I saw you at Pokélantis the last time you were here.
Hazel: Oh, must've been the reason why you guys weren't here for such a long time.
(Hazel was a tanish brown Eevee with a pink headband over her hair and on top of the headband was a Staryu. She also wore a strapless blue swim dress that looked like the ocean.)
Hazel: I was wondering if Sebastian and I would like to help you catch Ursaluna, Woody.
Woody: To be honest, finding and catching Ursaluna would be the greatest thing I could ever accomplish.
Hazel: I know a special place where we could find Ursaluna.
Geoff: And where's that?
Hazel: The best place to find Ursaluna is in the Timeless Woods.
Woody: Ready to head to the Timeless Woods, Pikachu?
Pikachu: Pikapika!
(Later, in the Timeless Woods…)
Faith: This must be where Ursaluna lives.
(Suddenly, an Ariados emerges from a spider web, trapping Faith.)
Ariados: [String Shot attack] Ariaaaa!
(Faith's clothes were covered in Ariados's silk.)
Faith: It's an Ariados!
Faith: And it looks like it wants to eat Faith for dinner.
Benson: [pulls out his Rotom Phone] This must be the reason why Faith hates spider-themed Pokémon.
[Benson's Rotom Phone chimes]
Benson's Rotom Phone: "Ariados, the Long Leg Pokémon. A Bug and Poison type. Ariados makes webs by spinning silk from both its butt and its mouth. It can trap its friends in strong, sticky silk and can drain their body fluids through its mouth."
Faith: Benson, heeellpp!
(Battle! Wild Pokémon – Pokémon Legends Arceus OST)
Benson: (sends out Simisear) Simisear, I choose you!
[Poké Ball opens up]
Simisear: Simisear!
Benson: Simisear, use Flame Burst!
Simisear: [Flame Burst attack] SIMMISSEEAARRR!
(Simisear's Flame Burst attack frees Faith from out of her cocoon.)
Faith: [covers her face with her hands] I can't dare to see spiders, Geoff. You'll have to catch Ariados!
Geoff: [throws an Ultra Ball at Ariados] Go, Ultra Ball!
[Ultra Ball opens up, then closes; dings]
Geoff's Rotom Phone: [chimes] Congratulations! Ariados has been registered to your Pokédex!
Woody: Now that Ariados has been captured, let's go find the Bloodmoon Beast!
(Woody and his friends trekked through Timeless Woods for an hour and a half and saw the footprints of an Ursaluna.)
Woody: There it is, the tracks of The Bloodmoon Beast.
(The footsteps approached, revealing them to be the tracks of The Bloodmoon Beast, also known as… Ursaluna!)
Hazel: It's… the Bloodmoon Beast!
("Who's that Pokémon?" segment)
Hazel, Woody, and Benson: Who's that Pokémon?!
(A silhouette features a picture of an Ursaluna.)
…
(The silhouette was later to be revealed to be an Ursaluna.)
Hazel, Woody, and Benson: It's… Ursaluna!
Ursaluna: Urssaaaaluna!
(End of "Who's that Pokémon?" segment)
Woody: is that what The Bloodmoon Beast looks like?
Faith: Something about that Pokémon looks very familiar to me. [pulls out her Rotom Phone]
{Faith's Rotom Phone chimes}
Faith's Rotom Phone: "Ursaluna, Bloodmoon Form. The Peat Pokémon. A Ground and Normal type. Long ago, Ursaluna sailed to a new land, giving it a unique appearance and special powers. It can see in the dark with its left eye and use mud to protect its body from the sun."
Hazel: That's one strong Ursaluna.
Ursaluna: Urssaaaaa!
Hazel: Not to 'll catch that Ursaluna in no time. [sends out her Blastoise]: Blastoise, go!
[Poké Ball opens up]
Blastoise: Blast!
Faith: That's Blastoise, the final evolved form of Squirtle!
Lana: Is that what Blastoise looks like? [pulls out her blue Rotom Phone]
[Lana's Rotom Phone chimes]
Lana's Rotom Phone: "Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokémon. A Water type, and Squirtle's final evolved form. Blastoise has cannons located on its back, which allow it to shoot water at a good distance. It can put its body into its shell when protecting itself."
Hazel: Blastoise, use Hydro Cannon!
(The cannons on Blastoise's body shoot water an Ursaluna.)
Ursaluna: [Slash attack] Lunnnaaa!
Blastoise: [growls angrily at Ursaluna] Blasssss…
Hazel: Looks like we have no other choice but to Mega Evolve.
(Hazel cracks her knuckles and takes out her own Mega Evolution-themed item. The item was a seashell-like bracelet on Hazel's left arm, as well as a Blastoiseite.)
Hazel: Blastoise, Mega Evolve!
(Blastoise Mega Evolved into Mega Blastoise. B)lastoise develops two smaller shells over its arms, each with their own water cannon. The two cannons on its back are replaced by a single, central water cannon of greater size that can retract into its shell. This cannon extends forward over Mega Blastoise's head and is said to have a blast range of over 6 miles, or usually 10 kilometers. Small ridges develop over its now-red eyes and extend to its ears. The ears angle slightly backward and there is a small point on its chin.)
Blastoise: [Mega Evolved] Blaasssttt!
Hazel: Now that you're Mega Evolved, Blastoise,we can get this battle on the road. Blastoise, use Flash Cannon!
(With force, Mega Blastoise unleashes a Hyper Beam-like attack known as Flash Cannon from its back.)
Ursaluna: [weak] Urssaaa.
Woody: Time to capture Ursaluna! [throws an Ultra Ball at Ursaluna] Ergh!
[Ultra Ball chimes, then beeps]
Woody's Rotom Phone: [chimes] Congratulations! Ursaluna has been registered to your Pokédex!
(Blastoise transforms back into a normal Blastoise and Hazel returns him to his Poké Ball.)
Benson: That was an exciting battle, Hazel.
Hazel: Thanks, Benny.
Benson: You're welcome. Let's head back to Mossui Town.
(Later, at Mossui Town…)
Faith: Benson, can we go to the Dreaded Den? Woody would love to catch Ogerpon there.
Benson: Sure we can.
Hazel: Benny, is it all right with you if the two of us became boyfriend and girlfriend?
Benson: Of course, Hazel. I wouldn't want to be sad anyway.
Narrator: With Hazel by our heroes's side, nothing would stand away in their Kitakami journey, but all will change once they head to the Blueberry Academy. Stay tuned for more adventures in Paldea, as the journey continues!
