Disclaimer – It has come to my attention recently that I unfortunately do not own any part of the Harry Potter or Percy Jackson Cinematic or Literary Universes or the characters that belong to those entities. One can dream I suppose. Although I did visit the Empire State Building once … but I solemnly swear I did not steal any lightning bolts.

Interlude 1: If Death Is Truly Coming …
The air shimmered with unease and electricity as Zeus looked down and surveyed Camp Half-Blood from one of the look out perches within Mount Olympus, shaking his head angrily. His gaze homing in on a solitary figure making their way through the camp's bustling grounds. A child of Thanatos, the god of death was freely walking through the camp.
He felt his brow furrow in concern and anger. Thanatos was a figure that had rarely been seen among the gods, in fact in his own memory he could only recall two such occasions where he had seen him interacting with other gods, both of which happened to have been Hades, but couldn't recall ever having overheard the fact that Thanatos had displayed any inclination of traveling among mortals and bringing life to the world. And yet, now his child was attending the camp for the demigods.
Clenching his hand into a fist he struck out at the nearest column, nodding at the sight of the small crater in the pillar as he withdrew his hand, the memory of his missing master bolt flashing through his mind like lightning in a stormy sky.
Striding across the marble floors of the main audience chamber of Mount Olympus, he made his way to his wife's chamber. Reaching the door, he knocked once, but without even waiting for a reply entered.
Hera, ever regal and composed, sat upon a cushioned stool in front of a large mirror, acknowledging his entrance with a slight nod, her expression serene yet attentive. She turned her gaze towards Zeus as he came to a stop several paces behind her. "Greetings, husband of mine. It is good to see you … but yes, please do come in." She said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"Hera, have you seen the new arrival at Camp Half-Blood?" Zeus's voice rumbled with a mix of anger and concern, either missing or choosing to ignore her tone.
She slowly nodded as she looked up at him, her brow furrowed, mimicking his worried look. "Yes … I have. A child of Thanatos appearing at the camp is indeed unusual, but we …"
"Unusual?" Zeus responded with a forced laugh. "Thanatos has not sired any children before and yet somehow the god of death has made life. Besides it's not just his appearance at the camp that concerns me, it is his appearance in the first place … especially considering it happened now."
Nodding her head, Hera turned to face Zeus. "I agree and believe that this child is not a normal demigod … I have no knowledge of his birth. But whatever the reason for that, a child of Thanatos speaks of darker times ahead."
Clenching his jaw he angrily shook his head, "Darker times ahead … bah ... I care not for that … my master bolt has been stolen. If it is not returned … then by the gods there will certainly be darker times ahead. I had believed it to have been one of my brothers responsible for its disappearance … especially with the reveal of Poseidon's son … which was in strict defiance of the pact me made when we swore on the River Styx … but now with the appearance of this other child … I wonder if they are working together."
Hera nodded slowly, not mentioning that she was aware that he had also broken the pact as well, before slowly and gracefully rising from her seat. "Of course, the theft of your master bolt is a serious matter, Zeus. If there is indeed a connection between the child of Thanatos and the theft, that would be worrisome. But we have no evidence of that, what we need …"
Nodding his head, Zeus held up his hand to silence her. "You are right, I will get Hermes to deliver a summons to Thanatos, letting him know that I demand his presence to find out his involvement in this."
Paling slightly, Hera swiftly shook her head, "That is not what I was suggesting. One does not simply go about demanding things of death. It seems unwise to invite death into one's house under these pretenses. He is not a god as we are … he is more … a primordial entity. No, Zeus, I was going to suggest you converse with Dionysus who is still serving his punishment as camp counselor at the camp for demigods, is he not?"
Throwing his head back in laughter, Zeus shook his head, "Surely you jest. I will not invite him up here while he is still serving his punishment for chasing after … well never mind … and I have no plans to go down to that camp, groveling to him for information. No. I shall send Hermes to summon Thanatos and that is that. I will get to the bottom of this."
With that, he nodded to himself and turned his mind already racing with the planning ahead of him, leaving behind his wife who was shaking her head at his departing form.

Meanwhile in the Oakland Hills, south of Berkley, near San Fransisco.
Octavian found himself standing at the edge of Camp Jupiter, the sound of distant thunder echoing in his ears.
Before him, a figure shrouded in darkness separated itself from shadows as it removed its cloak, slowly approaching the border of the camp.
As the figure drew closer, Octavian's heart pounded in his chest, his instincts screaming for him to run away. But he stood rooted to the spot unable to move his feet to flee or to even tear his gaze away from the mesmerizing glow of the piercing green eyes.
Slowly and soundlessly the figure raised a stick-like object, pointing it directly at Octavian and holding it there for several seconds.
Every fiber of his being screamed of danger and for him to move but he found himself still unable to turn, not to mention escape the gaze. Before he could react, a blinding flash of green light erupted from the end of the stick, racing towards him, and engulfing him …
Gasping for breath, Octavian sat bolt upright in his cot, his heart still racing from the remnants of his vision.
The taste of fear lingered in his mouth as he scanned the room, looking for the figure he knew was not there.
Shaking off the indecision, Octavian leaped from his cot and without even taking the time to put on his sandals ran out the door. His feet could be heard pounding against the cold stone path as he headed towards the largest of the quarters. Bursting through the door, he found Jason Grace seated at his desk, his expression one of concern as he stared up at Octavian's frantic entrance.
"Jason," Octavian exclaimed, his voice trembling with urgency. "I've had a vision – a vision of death approaching Camp Jupiter."
Jason's brow furrowed in concern, his eyes narrowing as he took in Octavian's agitated state and tone. "What do you mean, Octavian? What did you see?"
Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Octavian recounted the details of his vision, his words tumbling out in a rush as he described everything he could remember.
"And then," Octavian continued, his voice faltering slightly, "the figure pointed the stick directly at me, and after a second there was a blinding green light and I think I di… well … that's what woke me up."
Jason's eyes widened with concern as he listened to Octavian talking, before finally nodding when the other boy finished speaking. "If death is truly coming to Camp Jupiter … we cannot afford to underestimate this threat … we will be prepared."

At that moment … in the deepest and darkest pit of the Underworld … a weakened and disembodied form paused from its musings, staring off into the eternal darkness that surrounded it, amusement in its voice as the sound echoed around the empty area.
"Interesting …"

Story Note 1 – One of the things that I have been asked in comments and messages is what is going on in the world and how Harry's actions affect what else is going on. As such the easiest way I felt to show this was through the use of these small interlude chapters, which I am planning to release occasionally if there is a character or event I want to introduce, but unable to directly introduce them in a convenient way related to what Harry is doing at the moment. Have already had several requests about things people want to see, that have been written out. Am planning for them to usually be a little longer than this but likely a little smaller than normal chapters (depending on how much needs to be covered) ~ 2000 - 3000 words. If there is any situations or characters you think should be included send a message or leave a comment. And provide feedback on the style of these little interludes. Thanks in advance!
Story Note 2 – As for Hera's comment about not knowing of his childbirth. I believe that since she is also the god of women and childbirth. She might have some ability related to feeling births and maybe she wouldn't be aware of all birth's but the birth of a god … or primordial entity such as Thanatos should have stood out. Plus I felt this would make it a lot more interesting for conversations with Zeus when she knew when he had a child and could not lie about it.
Story Note 3 - Looks like Zeus is aware of Harry ... poor guy ...
Thanks to those of you out to those of you who enjoy my stories, I promise to keep updating the stories as long as you enjoy them, and a special thanks to those of you who have taken the time to leave feedback or reach out to me directly.
