Chapter 12: The Eastern Wolf Demon Tribe

Yuki told the group everything that he knew about Kyuki and they decided that it would be useless to over-stress about what Kyuki might or might not know after watching them since they wouldn't be able to confirm anything until they actually saw her. They were just going to be vigilant when it came to the birds that might be flying around and worry about fighting her if they had to whenever they tracked down Rain.

Just like the last time that Moroha had used the power of the rainbow pearl. She slept that whole next day and night away, not waking up again until a little before noon on the second day to the sound of her friend's voices chatting away as they walked.

She noticed immediately that she was being carried as her body moved along with the person who was carrying her on their back. She had yet to open her eyes as she began to wake up slowly. It was probably Hisui carrying her. She thought but this didn't smell like Hisui, her nose twitched as she breathed in the scent.

Pines. Hisui never smelled like pines.

She opened her eyes slowly.

silver hair. She noted then the realization hit her as she fully breathed in Yuki's scent that was much stronger than she was used to smelling due to the fact that she was so close to him.

This realization caused her to shift slightly on his back but it was enough for him to notice that she was awake now. He turned his head and saw her staring right at him and smiled.

"They weren't kidding when they said that you'd be out for the whole next day. How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, I feel very rested." Moroha said and the group stopped moving.

Setsuna walked right to Yuki's side and looked at her cousin with a stern expression on her face. "Good because you're going to explain to me why you used that pearl when you had little to no reason to do so."

Moroha prepared herself for a lecture the moment she saw Setsuna's face. She hadn't even been awake for 10 minutes yet and her cousin was already ready to scold her for her carelessness.

"The fight with Fubuki was going on for so long. I didn't know how you all were doing at holding him off. I didn't want to waste any time when I could do something." Moroha said and Setsuna sighed.

"We were doing fine. The three of us could more than handle something like that. I understand where you were coming from but your actions were reckless. The demons we've been facing out here, it isn't like when we slay demons for the guild we don't know what we're up against out here so none of us can afford to act reckless. It was just you and Yuki alone out there. What if you hadn't been able to kill Mikal with the power of the pearl? Yuki would have ended up fighting alone, and having to protect you while you were unconscious and Towa, Hisui and I wouldn't have known and we wouldn't have been there to help you."

"I understand that. That's why I thought hard before I used the pearl. I'm always careful when I use it. I wouldn't have done it if I had thought that I'd be a liability. Yuki put me down." Moroha said and he did as she asked.

She stood on her own two feet not even staggering as Yuki put her down.

"I thought about everything that you just said before I acted. I thought about that and I was sure that I knew what I was doing. I don't need you scolding me like you're my mom Setsuna. I don't say anything when you and Towa act recklessly so don't scold me for doing what I thought was best."

"Moroha." Towa said calmly trying to be the peacemaker in this situation. "I don't think that Setsuna met for it to come off like she was scolding you. Yuki has experience in dealing with the rainbow pearls and you're the only person that he's seen that is affected the way that you are when using the rainbow pearls. We're just worried about you using it too much. We don't know what's going to happen after repeated use."

"I've only ever used the pearl twice, that's hardly too much." Moroha huffed.

"The first time that you touched the red pearl you blackd out and couldn't remember anything that you did after touching the pearl. This time you attacked Yuki, do you even remember that?" Hisui asked and he watched as Moroha's expression changed as she tried to recall what she did.

"It's like you become someone else when you use that thing." Hisui said.

Moroha then turned to Yuki. "Is that true? Did I hurt you?" She asked as her eyes met his haunted by what she couldn't remember and he wished that she never found out.

"You did attack me, but it was just for a few seconds. You told me never to cross you, that's all. You didn't really hurt me at all." Yuki said.

"I'm sorry, if using the rainbow pearl makes me hurt my friends then I'll never touch it again." Moroha said seriously.

"We just don't know too much about what affects the pearl has on you. You didn't attack me after killing Tokotsu so I think that you can still somewhat distinguish between friend and foe when you're in that state." Hisui said.

"I'm sorry if I sounded harsh when talking to you about the pearl." Setsuna said sincerely. "We just want you to be careful with it and only use it if you absolutely feel that you've exhausted all other options."

Moroha sighed. "I understand, I promise you all that I won't be reaching for the red pearl anytime soon." Moroha said somberly and the mood had changed considerably as they walked now.

"Hey, how about we take a little break to eat and drink water. Moroha hasn't eaten anything in a day." Towa said.

"I'm not to hungry right now." Moroha said. Still in a less than chipper mood after talking about what happened with the red pearl.

"Well I'm hungry right now. Why don't you make us something quick over campfire," Towa said.

"Hisui cooks better over campfire." Moroha mumbled.

"I can only make simple meals but you know all kinds of kitchen secrets that only aunt Kagome knows. I'd much prefer your lunch over mine." Hisui said.

"I haven't had your cooking since our time together in your village." Yuki said.

"And that time had better have been wholesome." Hisui said glaring at Yuki.

"I wouldn't even dream of risking the wrath of all of you demon slayers. Not now that I actually know you." Yuki said.

"Good answer." Hisui smiled.

"We'll then get to it. We don't have a lot of time for breaks." Setsuna told Moroha and she prepared a small lunch for her friends with the supplies that they had gotten from the Gemini twins village.

Moroha decided to make a special soup that her mother had taught her to make and at first it looked strange to Yuki. He had never seen soup this color before or have such a chunky texture due to the ingredients but after seeing the lack of hesitation to eat from everyone else he quietly tried the food and it was so much better than he had thought it would be.

Moroha and her family had to be doing some kind of magic to get the food to taste this good. They just had to be. Yuki had thought.

Moroha had even ended up eating more than she had expected but then again she remembered that she was out cold for a little more than a day so it was only natural to need to eat more food.

Towa even told Moroha that her food had tasted better than Yuna's which made Hisui burst out laughing.

"Towa, I know that you're trying to lighten the mood but you don't need to lie to do that." He said.

"Hey Hisui, give me yours back." Moroha demanded.

"Not a chance." He said before quickly scarfing down the rest of his soup.

"None for you next time." Moroha said. "And I'll remember too." She stared at him coldly.

"Sure you will." Hisui teased.

"I will." Moroha said and the mood had gone back to how it normally was.

Moroha, Towa, and Hisui chatted away while Setsuna only offered a few words as she enjoyed their meal together and Yuki was continuously dragged into the conversation to collaborate on who was telling the truth and what was embellished from their past conversations. Everyone was back to themselves the group got over their rough patch. They continued on their way to the rendezvous point that Yuki had spoken about.

The rendezvous point was located in the eastern mountains. Rain had many back up locations that were supposed to be meant for him and Yuki to regroup should they ever need it. The mountain base that they were headed to was just the closest to the Kindo castle which they had started at.

By the time that the teens got close to the mountain banks the group was in considerably better spirits than they had been earlier that day as they walked through the valley and went up the mountains to the place that Yuki knew Rain most likely would have been.

A large cave that was located near the northern side of the mountain range. The teens all entered the cave cautiously with their weapons ready as they didn't know what Rain might have planned for them. They soon went off in seperate directions in the large space inorder to cover more ground.

Yuki stayed close to Moroha as she walked through the cave with her bow drawn, knowing that Rain would most likely target her first since she had weakened him so significantly the last time and Yuki wasn't going to let her fall into any of his traps so he stayed near her as they made way through the cave.

So far the cave wasn't yielding them any closer to Rain as they explored what he had hidden here only to find wolf demon corpses and scattered notes that didn't give them any good information.

At one point a demon at least 10 feet tall burst from the walls of the cave and ran at Moroha. Which caught everyone off guard and stopped them in their tracks. The demon had symbols carved all over its skin and its eyes were stitched shut.

All of the qualities that Rain's cursed corpses had back at the Kindo estate.

Yuki immediately went to defend Moroha but she didn't need the help.

Moroha acted fast, shooting an arrow at the demon that landed in the dead center of its skull and the demon corpse was purified.

"You're all too jumpy over weak demons. That was nothing." Moroha said.

"Hey, take this seriously. There could be more of them." Setsuna said.

"Rain made sure to leave a cursed puppet here with orders to kill anyone that it could sense spiritual powers from. He knew we'd be here." Yuki said.

"Do you think that he's still here?" Towa asked.

"No, we would have come across more resistance than this. He was here but then he left. He must have needed something from here or he wouldn't have bothered at all. He's probably long gone by now." Yuki said.

The teens switched focus and looked through all of the notes that they could find that Rain had left behind but they couldn't find anything cohesive.

All that was clear was that Rain hadn't been here for a while so they had no choice other than to try the next location that Yuki knew he might be. The five of them only left the cave once they were sure that they had gone through everything they could find.

"Where to next? You mentioned that Rain has more places for him to lay low at like this." Hisui asked.

"The closest place to here is going to take us a week and a half to get to."

"So more far distances." Towa groaned dramatically.

"Yes, what this trip that you and Moroha were so eager to go on entails." Setsuna said to her sister and they both paused.

Something was different. The way that the wind blew was changing and Moroha had noticed as well but before any of them could say anything. The cause of that change, a wolf demon rushed straight at them with his weapon drawn and struck the ground they were standing on causing it to crumble beneath them.

The reactions were quick in response.

Setsuna had been standing closest to Moroha and Hisui and she pulled The two of them out of the way the minute that she had smelled a change in the air. Keeping the three of them on solid ground.

While Towa had grabbed Yuki by his forearm above his elbow and pulled him with her as she jumped away from the crumbling earth so the two of them were no longer in the demon's direct sights.

Or so she had thought that she had jumped far enough to avoid the unstable ground. Her ground had continued to crumble as she tried to regain her footing but she thought fast, tossing Yuki far so that he would be on solid ground again and she hoped from different crumbling stones until she was back on solid ground.

Towa let out a long sigh and Yuki just stared at her for a long moment with a strange look on his face that Towa couldn't read.

Was he concerned? She thought.

"I'm fine." She said, shooing off his concern and Yuki shook his head. That wasn't what he had been thinking about.

"Thank you." He said.

"No need, it's what friends do." Towa said before turning her attention back to the one who had attacked them.

The five had just narrowly avoided falling off of the mountain from a most likely unsurvivable height. And there were three wolf demons now.

One standing right where he had struck the ground a moment ago in an attempt to kill them and the other two were behind him standing at a higher vantage point on the earth of the mountain.

The wolf demons didn't look any older than they were and now after avoiding that attack the five were all staring daggers at the wolf demons.

"Do the three of you want to die?" Yuki asked sharply with a look that could kill.

"State your business here. Why have you come to trespass on wolf demon lands?" The wolf demon in the center asked. He was a tan skinned demon with dark hair and he carried a spear with him.

"You could have just asked! You didn't need to attack us!" Moroha yelled.

"You outsiders are trespassing on our lands, the way I see it. I'm showing you kindness by not cutting each one of you down in this instant.

The teens weren't concerned with him in the slightest.

"So there's a group of wolf demons near that explains what we found in Rain's lair." Hisui said.

"And the scents that we were picking up." Setsuna added.

"Have you seen anyone suspicious around here? Any pale skinned demons with dark hair?" Towa asked and the wolf demon scoffed.

"Woman, I'm not answering any of your questions. You're on our lands and if you're working with Kyuki you're already dead." The wolf demon stated.

This was his chance to prove that he was better than Jade. The wolf demon thought.

"Kyuki, what's she got to do with this?" Hisui asked.

"Shut up human, you're speaking to Gin and he's one of the strongest in our tribe. You had better start bowing now if you want him to show any mercy." One of the other wolf demons said.

"Even if you're not with Kyuki as I see it, all outsiders are the same so none of you could be up to any good here. By trespassing on our lands uninvited you have become our enemies." Gin said as his eyes scanned over the group one more time. "But I am merciful when it comes to women who know no better than to follow the lead of men, so I'll let you all live if any one of you guys can beat me in a fight." Gin smirked. He was one of the strongest wolf demons around.

Fighting these outsiders would give him some good sport before he returned to the tribe with their corpses and told everyone of how he had taken down some of Kyuki's henchmen. Gin was sure that he'd win. He only ever lost to Jade but that would one day change. After today Gin would be hailed a hero in their tribe and he would be ten steps in front of Jade if this went well. These outsiders looked uninspiring but the girls were a different story.

"You girls don't have to fight, I'll let you live but you'll be coming back with me and becoming my personal servants. A fair price to pay in exchange for your lives." Gin smiled.

"You're so merciful Gin." One of the wolf demons behind him said. The other two wolves had gotten closer to Gin and the 5 were now able to get a better look at his two cheerleaders who shared similar features with Gin.

They all wore the same kind of clothing of furs and armor and while Gin had dark hair the other two both had lighter brown hair. One of them had shorter hair and was more tan and the other was paler in comparison to the other wolf demons and had freckles on his cheeks that made him look a little younger than he most likely was.

"I wouldn't expect any less from the son of one of our elders." The wolf demon with freckles had said.

The group all looked at him dumbfounded at his ultimatum.

"I think that we'll pass." Towa said as she stepped up to be Gin's opponent.

"You all cool with me kicking this guy's ass so he can back off?" Towa asked the group and they all agreed.

"Just make this quick so we can get moving again." Hisui said.

Towa rolled her eyes. "You're no fun Hisui."

"You can't possibly expect to fight me on behalf of your friends?" Gin stated skeptically. "I'm serious about killing people if you lose. I'm the strongest fighter in my tribe, I doubt that you, a woman, would stand any chance against me. You could really get hurt." Gin warned.

He sure was full of himself. This was going to be fun. Towa thought as she smirked in response.

"Well that's a lengthy way of saying that you're intimidated. When I win, I want you to become my personal servant for as long as I deem necessary."

Gin looked taken aback. He didn't expect her to say that, not at all. And she was so rude and cocky. He was going to enjoy this.

"If you actually manage to somehow trick me into letting you win I'd happily comply." He scoffed.

Towa took out her broken blade with a smile. "Good because I'm going to beat you and I'm going to do it with this broken blade."

"You can't be serious." Gin looked taken aback.

"She's crazy. Gin, end this quickly!" The wolf demon with the shorter hair had called.

"Are you ready?" Gin asked impatiently to which Towa answered by quickly closing the gap while summoning her blue energy blade, shocking Gin as she swung her sword right at him in a move that would have taken his arm clean off had Gin not moved in time.

He wasn't fast enough to counter her attack. She had just moved so fast that his instincts reacted telling him that dodging that blow was best over trying to meet her attack and even then he barely moved out of the way in time in the first place.

Towa only missed Gin by a hair. If he had taken even a second more there was a good chance that he would have lost his arm.

Gin looked up at Towa wide eyed and the sly smile on her face said it all. She was intentional with her actions.

"That show off." Hisui said.

"Kick his butt Towa!" Moroha cheered.

"Gin is just warming up!" The freckled wolf demon said quick to defend their friend.

"You sure about that? To me it looks like he might start crying at any minute. Maybe if he begs, Towa will spare him." Moroha snickered. They were all spectating the fight while standing next to each other on the same side .

"Talk all you want now. In the end you're going to be one of Gin's servant's for the rest of your life." The wolf demon with short hair said and Setsuna punched him hard on his head.

"Hey!" The wolf demon stated while holding his head.

"Did you just hit a member of the great eastern wof tribe?!" The freckled wolf demon huffed and Setsuna stared coldly at the two of them and they both went quiet in response.

"Shut up, I'm trying to watch the duel." Setsuna said and the two wolf demons did as she told them.

Gin held his spear tighter. As he ran at Towa now and she easily dodged him. Side stepping him and kicking him in the side of his head and Gin fell down.

"What happened to all of that talk from before? You're making this too easy."

"Damn woman." Gin stood up hastily and ran at Towa again.

"It's going to be master Towa to you." Towa smiled menacingly at him as he angrily ran for her now and she allowed his weapon to clash with hers in an underwhelming display that knocked Gin quite a distance back from their clash.

Gin hit the ground hard and Towa leaned over him and held her broken blade to his neck without its energy.

"Surrender." Towa said and Gin grit his teeth. Towa pulled him up by the short hair on his head.

"Surrender." She repeated but Gin did not do so.

He only glared more intensely at her and she huffed in frustration before letting go of his head and making it hit the ground as she did so before lifting him up and throwing him hard at the ground.

"A real warrior knows when they're out classed. In a real fight you either surrender or you die." Towa said scarily and Gin was scared of the look in her eyes. He had never fought an opponent this strong before and she hadn't even used her full strength.

Would she actually kill him if he didn't surrender?

Gin was finally going to voice his surrender but before he could say anything someone else spoke for him.

"Really Gin? You're about to be killed by that outsider and a girl at that. Looks like I really don't have any competition when it comes to becoming the next leader."

Waves of thunder came rushing towards Towa and she had no choice but to split from Gin and move from where she was. Just as the group noticed that the two wolf demons that had arrived with Gin were no longer next to them.

Jade got close to Gin and helped him back up to his feet and Gin pushed him away.

"You idiots! Why the hell did you go get him?" Gin yelled at his friends Al and Lian who had left.

"She was going to kill you!" Lian the short haired wolf demon said.

"We had no choice." Al the freckled wolf demon added.

Setsuna and the others hadn't been paying attention to the other wolf demons so they had managed to slip away to get help for Gin.

"Gin, calm down. I'm glad that Al and Lian asked me to help you. We may be rivals for when it comes to who's going to be the next leader of our tribe and even though we fight everyday we're still a part of the same tribe and I don't want to see you dead. We're a pack and a good leader protects everyone, even the people he doesn't like." Jade said before standing tall and facing Towa.

He had green eyes and long dark hair that he had pulled up into a ponytail and Towa could tell from his aura that he was stronger than Gin. The question was how much stronger she smiled.

Maybe this would be more exciting.

"You outsider, even if you are a woman I can not excuse you starting a fight with a member of my tribe and as the future leader of the eastern wolf demon tribe I will make you pay. If you all are with Kyuki then I will see to it that today is your last day."

"You tell her Jade!" Al said.

"Jade is the son of our leader, a legendary demon who is responsible for the restoration of our tribe." Lian added.

"Your friend challenged us to this duel. If you want to take his place, then go ahead. Though I don't think that you'll fare any better." Towa said.

"Why you!" Gin said as he clenched his fists.

"Beating Gin is no easy feat but I'm afraid that now that I'm here you won't be so lucky. I'm Jade, the heir to the eastern wolf demon tribe. The only wolf demon of my age to never lose once and an outsider like you has utterly no chance of beating me." Jade said.

"I wouldn't expect any less from the son of our leader Koga." Al said as Gin walked to stand beside him and Lian on the opposite side of the fight away from Towa's friends this time .

"You wolf demons sure like to hear the sound of your own voices don't you? We'll come on now puppy dog prince, let's see what you've got." Towa said nonchalantly as if Jade was boring her.

"Puppy dog prince?!" Jade repeated annoyed and Towa snickered.

"Teach her, respect Jade." Gin said.

"You mean like how she just taught you?" Moroha said and Gin only glared at her.

This time Towa let her opponent attack first. Jade used Gin's spear to fight as he didn't have any weapon on him when Lian and Al had found him and Towa could tell that Jade was different from Gin.

It took more effort to evade Jade's attacks and fighting him required her to be more present than she had been before. She smiled as their blades met.

"Who smiles in the middle of a fight?" Jade asked, utterly dumbfounded by her behavior.

"Isn't it fun to fight strong opponents? You're better at this than Gin." Towa said and Jade jumped back before swinging at her this time and she countered with a slew of well placed swings of her sword that were cutting too close for Jade's liking.

"You're good at this too for a girl. If things were different maybe you'd have been strong enough but you are just a girl and a half demon nonetheless."

Jade said and Towa fought him seriously now countering each of Jade's blows and showing him just how big the difference between them was. Jade felt as though his back was against the wall the more that they fought but Towa didn't once ask him to surrender.

Towa saw Jade as being a more worthy opponent then Gin but he hadn't respected her as such. So though she didn't toy with Jade the way that she had with Gin she wasn't going to offer him an easy way out with a surrender.

Jade tried to act with precision by trying to attack Towa in ways that would immediately end the fight but she counted him every time. Even cutting him when he moved too rashly and following through with strong blows that knocked him far. Not even giving Jade time to pick himself up before she attacked him again.

He had to win if he didn't then what would these outsiders do to Gin and the others. From what Al and Lian had told him they had made some sort of deal. Losing would have a price.

Al and Lian asked him for help because they believed in him and he had a duty to protect everyone in his tribe, especially as their future leader.

Jade released his thunder attack that he had used to stop Towa's fight with Gin and Towa had cut right through it and went straight for his neck, her blue blade stinging his skin as she barely pressed into his neck and blood started to fall.

"You wolf demons are too cocky. You dismiss your opponents before you fully understand their abilities. Admit defeat or risk greater injury if this continues." Towa said cold.

"I.." Jade wasn't a fool he knew when he was out classed. What would his father have done? He didn't want to admit defeat but he couldn't risk the lives of others if he couldn't protect them.

"I surrender. You can kill me if you want but let the others go. I grossly misjudged your abilities and now I have to pay the price." Jade admitted. He hoped that his dad would have been proud if he were here. Until the very end Jade respected everything that his father had taught him.

Towa smiled and raised her sword up high above his head as shouts came from the other three wolf demons around them who ran at the two once it looked like Towa was going to kill Jade.

Gin and the other two wolf demons all tried to interfere but were swiftly stopped by Setsuna and Moroha while Yuki summoned his barrier around Towa and Jade so that no one could interfere in their fight.

Towa swung her sword down but only punched Jade hard on the top of his head.

"I don't want you dead, you idiot. Your best friend Gin wanted a fight so we gave him one. We're not even with Kyuki, we're trying to track down one of her allies but he's not here so we were leaving. You admitted that you were wrong about me so we can call it even this time." Towa said before placing her sword back in its sheath.

"You're not with Kyuki?" Jade asked dumbfounded. "Al, Lian, what the hell does she mean they're not with Kyuki." Jade asked, furious at them.

"Well I just kind of assumed. Why else would they be here?" Gin said. "And since they're outsiders they needed to be dealt with anyway."

"Dealt with by the leader if he saw fit. Not you flee bag." Jade said.

"Shut up Jade you didn't even win."

"That's not the point. You can't just go out picking fights that you can't win. That's how people get killed. You could have gotten us all killed." Jade said and the look on Gin's face said it all. He was only upset by the fact that he had needed Jade's help. He didn't care about anything else.

"There is absolutely no way that you'd ever be capable of running our tribe. As long as I'm alive you are never going to become the next leader." Jade told Gin.

"Then I'll exile you from our tribe the moment that I become leader." Gin said before storming off with Al and Lian following behind him.

"If Kyuki is here she might know where Rain is hiding." Hisui said. The five of them had been talking amongst themselves while Jade and Gin had been screaming at eachother.

"If she's still allied with Rain they may be together here in these mountains." Yuki said.

"You, wolf demon." Setsuna said to Jade as the other wolf demons left. "How do you know of Kyuki?"

Jade didn't like how she was speaking to him but the silver haired warrior had spared his life so he told them what they wanted to know.

"Kyuki has been at war with us for over a month now. One day she showed up and threatened my father that our tribe had better start working for her because she wanted our territory and no one who wasn't under her reign would be allowed to stay here. My father refused her and now she's been actively picking us off trying to get my father to agree to work for her. My father is out hunting her as we speak. They know that she's hiding out here somewhere."

"Even if Rain isn't with her we should find Kyuki. She sounds like a tyrant to me and I don't like bullies." Moroha said.

"I agree. Let's go interrogate Kyuki before we get out of here." Towa added and they all seemed to be in agreement about finding Kyuki first.

"She's not your problem, outsiders. You should just be on your way like you said." Jade told them.

"She may know where we need to go so we have no choice but to track her down since she's here somewhere." Hisui said.

The five started out to look for Kyuki now since she was apparently somewhere in these mountains. They no doubtably would be able to find her with the five of them on the hunt and with a plus one sticking close behind them.

"I thought that Kyuki wasn't our problem?" Towa asked.

"She's not but if you insist, I will accompany you to slay her in the name of the eastern tribe."

"You could have just asked to come with us, you know. We were going to find her anyway. We might as well go together." Hisui said.

"I am not going with you, we're just headed in the same direction that's all. I would never want to accompany outsiders to handle the business of the eastern wolf demon tribe."

"We can sure see that." Hisui said sarcastically. "Yuki you're acquainted with Kyuki do you have any idea why she would be making trouble with wolf demons like this?" Hisui asked.

"No. Rain and I had a good working relationship with most of the Perils. When our interests aligned we worked together but each of them have their own goals outside of our alliance so I wouldn't know."

"So you've been friendly with the enemy of my tribe? Just know that if you turn on us I won't hesitate to tear you apart." Jade said.

"Sheesh, take it easy. You choose to follow us, remember? Yuki has a past with Kyuki but he's far from being one of her ally's now." Towa said.

"He's There!" Moroha yelled. "Yotsume!" She called just as she broke off into a sprint and the others followed. Towa, Setsuna and Yuki all chased after her while Hisui quickly jumped on to Kilala and grabbed Jade who had been taken by surprise at their sudden action.

"Yostume is Kyuki's messenger owl. She's probably close by." Hisui said.

"The owl with 4 eyes is..." Jade said speechless as he remembered every instance in which he had seen that same owl appear over the month that Kyuki has been terrorizing their tribe. "Ugh I'm so stupid."

That owl had been casing him all day yesterday. What did Kyuki want with him? He thought to himself.

When Yotsume disappeared into a cave Moroha stopped and her cousins and Yuki caught up to her not too long after.

"Kyuki must be hiding in there." She pointed to the cave that Yotsume had flown into.

"Rain could be with her in there. It sure was considerate of Yotsume to lead us all the way here without a fight." Yuki said skeptically.

"Are you saying that this is a trap?" Setsuna asked just as a more monstrous Yostume appeared from the cave.

The teens all took up fighting stances.

Moroha reacted first by shooting her arrow and binding Yostume to a rocky stone wall of the mountain with her heavenly arrow barrage before he could move to attack them and she smiled.

"Looks like your makeover was just for show." She jumped into the air and swung her sword at Yotsume, going straight for the kill. Just as both of her cousins smelt a change in the air.

Yuki also realized that Yotsume was using a rainbow pearl right as Moroha lept to finish him off.

A purple beam of energy came out of Yotsume's fifth eye and hit Moroha before she could follow through and she started falling fast, unable to move after being hit.

Yuki moved quick to catch her before she would hit the ground and Yostume laughed hysterically.

"Just try and kill me! You half demon wreches."

"I can't move, All my energy is gone." Moroha said weakly once Yuki had caught her, before her eyes fell shut and Yuki held her tight, now glaring daggers at Yotsume.

He barely had time to do anything else as another purple beam of energy came his way and he just narrowly dodged it while carrying Moroha.

"You reckless idiot." He told her.

Towa then took this opportunity while Yotsume was occupied with trying to take Yuki down to try and stop him herself. She charged fast from his blind spot but he quickly turned his head and hit her with the same beam of energy that had taken Moroha out.

Setsuna wasn't too far behind Towa and tried striking Yotsume now but he was too quick and she was left to hastily dodge his next move as Towa fell to the ground.

"Damn, we can't get any closer to him than this." Setsuna said as she held her weapon tighter. "Any idea what he's doing to them?" Setsuna called over to Yuki so was taking cover not too far away from where she was.

"No, Moroha said something about her energy being low right after being hit. So I'm assuming it's some kind of energy depletion spell." Yuki called back before he sat Moroha down safely behind the cover of the rock. Yuki's expression changed as a thought crossed his mind.

Rain would use something like this so that he doesn't have to fight us.

"We don't know how long the effects of this last. We can't let him hit us." He said to Setsuna.

"We need to be smart about how we're going to attack him. I'm going to get my sister to safety and then we'll reconvene!" She yelled back.

"What a great plan. If you can actually reach her, that is!" Yotsume said and now he was shooting purple energy everywhere and the two frantically dogged the scattered blast. Until Setsuna was finally able to reach Towa and Yotsume thought that he had her but Hisui's Hiraikotsu took the blast of his shot for her and she was able to jump out of the way to take Towa to safety.

"That was a close one." Hisui sighed.

"This doesn't look good. The one with silver hair is down." Jade said. Right as Yostume shot his purple beam at them and they couldn't dodge it.

Yostume had taken care of Hisui and Jade cautious not to let anyone new join the fight, as Yostume still couldn't break free from the place he had been trapped by Moroha's arrows, but in his haste to get rid of the people that were just arriving he took his eyes off of the two that he had already been fighting. leaving himself wide open for Setsuna's attack but he wasn't going down without taking her with him so he used the demon energy from his fifth eye one last time and Setsuna would have been hit had Yuki not pushed her out of the way just in time. Setsuna then used her scourge of swallows attack to end Yostume.

XXXX

Yuki didn't know what he had expected after being hit by Yostume but being a few hairs shy of getting hit by Moroha's crimson dragon wave was not what he had planned for.

"You sure are getting the hang of this." What Yuki assumed to be Moroha's father said to a much younger looking Moroha. He looked just how Rain had always described him.

Silver hair and dog ears on the top of his head. Always in red. Moroha actually looked like him, he noted. As a much younger version of his friend smiled up at her dad.

"This is easy. Soon I'll be even stronger than you dad." Moroha said confidently and Inuyasha laughed. She was his daughter alright.

Inuyasha was supposed to be Yuki's eternal enemy but for some reason when Moroha smiled at him like that he just couldn't bring himself to hate someone that his friend loved so much.

"You'll have to grow a little more before that can happen but hey at the very least I'm sure that you're definitely stronger than Shippo now."

"You always say that." Moroha said with an annoyed look on her face.

"We've been out here for more than three hours now. You getting tired yet?"

"No! Tomorrow is my first demon slaying job and I need to be strong so Towa and Setsuna don't try to leave me behind."

"First demon slaying mission? I've taken you to slay demons before." Inuyasha said, calling her fib.

"Dad, that doesn't count. You never actually need my help. I barely get to do anything when I go with you."

"I wasn't always good at slaying demons either. It takes time to become an experienced warrior. I wouldn't really want you to have to go through most of what I did to get stronger but you're already way better at this than I was at 13 so you don't have to worry about your job tomorrow."

"Do you really think that I'm stronger than you were at my age?" She asked.

"Yes, now that's it for today."

"But dad—"

"No but's. I can already hear your mother scolding me for letting you stay out this late when you haven't eaten dinner yet. Part of being a good demon slayer is making sure that you have enough rest to stay sharp. Your mother will kill me if you're too tired on your mission tomorrow because we trained all night."

"We should have packed food to eat out here." Moroha huffed.

"You're more than strong enough, your cousins will be impressed. If you're up to it we can even train some tomorrow morning before you go but only if we go home now."

"Okay." Moroha said before going off with her father and not even a minute later asking to ride on his back to which he agreed with a small chuckle. He knew that she was tired. Like mother, like daughter he had thought as his daughter snoozed away on his back.

The dream changed in an instant and now Yuki was hearing a woman's voice that he had never heard before call for Kilala,

"Kilala!" The woman called again as Kilala turned and ran towards her. The woman was wearing a pink and green Kimono and looked no older than Yuki and the rest of the group.

Kilala ran to the woman who picked her up before the cat moved to rest on the woman's shoulder.

"Sango, what's taking so long! Time to get a move on!" Inuyasha called.

"Inuyasha she had to chase after Kilala." Kagome scolded.

"Perhaps we should take a break for a few minutes. We have been walking for most of the day." Miroku suggested.

Yuki immediately saw Miroku's resemblance to Hisui.

"After we just found out where Naraku is hiding? Fat chance." Inuyasha said.

"Inuyasha, Miroku and the others are all humans so they get tired a lot faster than the two of us. They probably need the break." Shippo said.

Kagome chuckled at Shippo's words. "He's right a little ten minute break wouldn't hurt and besides look what we have left." She pulled out his favorite cup noodles and Inuyasha then agreed to take the small break with the others.

The memory changed an instant later and now Yuki was witnessing Towa fighting a giant demon that was more than twice her size. Yuki had been traveling with the group for a while now but he had never seen Towa backed into a corner like this before.

At first she completely outclassed her opponent until she was stabbed through her shoulder and the demon tasted her blood.

"My blade is covered in venom from my fangs." The demon said as he caught her grabbing her wrist on her good side and pulling her close, biting down on her shoulder in the exact spot in which he had stabbed her, making her scream in pain and stab the demon in his right eye. He pulled back with a scream of his own and Towa fell to the ground.

"You… you shouldn't be able to handle that much poison! Normally that much poison can kill 10 humans. You shouldn't have been able to move at all after getting stabbed." He spat viciously while clutching his eye.

Towa struggled to stand back up but she did so as her breathing got more heavy and she could feel the poison from the blade and his bite merging together and taking a stronger effect on her as her wounds throbbed in pain.

"You sound as if you've never fought a true warrior before." She smirked and she looked menacingly as she did so. The demon shuddered in response and so did Yuki.

As the fight went on it was clear that she had to be under a lot of pain and her words could no longer match her actions as the poison spread through her body.

She had to have known that she was going to die. Yuki thought but her expression never wavered. She never cowered or surrendered. It wasn't even a thought in her mind.

How did Towa survive this? He wondered and his question was answered immediately. When who he could tell was his other natural enemy, Sesshomaru stepped in and saved her.

Who the hell are you?" The demon asked as he sensed a murderous aura from Sesshomaru, though he looked calm as he turned to Towa and gently cradled her. Ignoring the demon.

"Father." She murmured looking up at her father who was showing her nothing but indifference even in this situation. "I…" She breathed. "I don't need help."

Her father closed his eyes and sighed heavily before opening a glass vial and pushing it to her mouth. "Drink this." He ordered and she looked at him as she did what he said.

They're all insane, Yuki had thought when hearing Towa's words. Every single member of that family.

Towa felt the warmth of the sun on her skin and a dryness in the back of her throat as her eyes slowly fluttered open and the bright blue sky let her know that she was no longer at the cave where she had been poisoned so that meant that it wasn't a delusion born from the poison. Her brows drew down in a serious expression.

Her father had saved her.

She sat up now, her body ached all over after being exposed to all of that poison. Her eyes scanned the area around her and there he was watching over her.

"Towa, why did you go there alone? Kohaku would never have sent you by yourself. That man is too sentimental to ever really try to push you like that. So why did you go there?" Sesshomaru asked once Towa had woken up.

"There was a demon that needed to be slayed so I went to take care of it. I've been doing this for years. I'm more than capable of going on missions alone." She said looking forward.

"What would you have done had I not been there?"

It took everything she had to stand but she did it quick enough. "I didn't need your help back there." She said and he simply stared at her for a long moment not saying anything at all which in some ways was worse than the inevitable scolding her mother was going to give her.

"Uncle slays demons stronger than that all the time and he's half demon just like me. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to go on solo missions from time to time."

"You are too impulsive, you rush in without thinking and aren't good at knowing when to quit."

"I would never run away from a fight."

"Even if it gets you killed?"

"You wouldn't run away."

"We are not the same." Was all that her father said and she clenched her fist now walking away from him she knew where they were. They were close to the village. She didn't want to hear what he had to say anymore.

"If you had not been alone. That demon would have been taken down easily. It was incredibly stupid to try that alone. Your sister never would have let the fight drag on after you got poisoned. She would have helped you."

"I don't want to hear it!" She turned around. "I will never need your help again so stay out of my battles!" She yelled and her father as always reacted indifferently as she waited for his response.

"Towa it's important to understand one's own capabilities if you put yourself into a situation like this again and I"m not near the next time I might not be there to save you should you misjudge yourself or your opponents in the future."

She didn't need his lecture. One day she would do it. She would get him to acknowledge her strength.

The memory faded and a much younger Jade ran fast past Yuki.

Jade was running towards the edge of the wolf demon territory in the opposite direction of where the wolves all lived. He was running as fast as his small legs would take him as he was only 13 at the time and had yet to hit his growth spurt.

He had been scraping with Gin again near the waterfall while Al and Lian made sure that no adults came to break up their fight this time. Gin was the tallest boy their age and he was older than Jade by half a year. Gin wanted badly to be the next pack leader but to do that first he'd have to beat Jade.

Gin challenged Jade for the first time the week before and after suffering a defeat he had challenged him again today but neither boy knew that their match on the outskirts of their territory was going to be interrupted by a Bat demon that would come out of nowhere.

The Bat demon flew low and grabbed Al with his clawed foot forcing the group of boys to chase after it until Al somehow managed to to break free and fell to the ground from a height that his body couldn't handle which resulted in a broken leg.

The boys all rushed to his side to find that Al couldn't run.

"Leave me here. Save yourselves or we'll all be killed." Al cried.

"We're not leaving anyone behind. That shitty Bad demon had to be running away for a reason. Lian will stand guard over you while Gin and I kill the Bat then we'll go home together so stop crying." Jade said.

"How sentimental of you but I assure you that none of you will be seeing tomorrow now that you've made me drop my meal." The demon said as he landed and now the young wolves could see the outdated clothing that the bat demon wore along with the strange pendant he was wearing that was stitched into his clothing.

Both Jade and Gin went to attack the moment that he landed.

The Bat demon completely outclassed the boys as they fought and they both had taken on heavy injuries early on in the fight that would make a prolonged conflict difficult. It wasn't looking good for the young wolf demons but Jade had been watching his opponent closely and learning how he moved and through his observations Jade had figured out a way to save his peers.

Jade acted fast the moment that he saw an opening not uttering a word of his plans to Gin and running straight at the bat demon rashly as if he was trying to strike in a last ditch effort and was stabbed through his arm by the demons sharp claws but not before he was able to grab the pendent that was tied to the bat demons clothes.

Jade noticed that any time either him or Gin attacked the bat demon. The demon was being extra cautious that the pendant was never damaged during their fight.

Jade gripped the pendant hard as it ripped the demon's clothes and he pulled his injured arm free of the bat demon's claw before making a run for it.

If Jade stayed they would all die but if he ran now that he had something precious to the demon. It was sure that the demon would chase him away from the group then maybe he'd be able to lure the demon away from his friends and successfully hide from him.

So Jade ran as far as he could until the bat demon stabbed him through the back of his heel this time and Jade fell as he couldn't run anymore.

"It's been a while since I've eaten wolves. I hope that you'll taste as good as I remember." the demon snarled and Jade's eyes clenched shut.

"At least he'd saved the others. His father always said that a good leader can think fast and make tough decisions. He just never imagined that he'd have to sacrifice himself as a result of his quick thinking before he even became leader.

Jade waited for the demon's final blow but instead he felt blood splatter onto his cheeks.

"What the hell do you think you're doing in my territory?" Koga said menacingly and Jade opened his eyes to see his dad deliver the final blow on the bat demon, shredding him to pieces with his Goraishi.

"Dad?" Jade asked, surprised. He was certain that he was going to die so seeing his dad made him question whether he was dreaming or not.

"You did good son. You did what you had to save the others but you didn't have to do this alone." Koga said as he got down and assessed Jade's wounds.

"That damn demon I should have shouldn't have let him die easy." His dad said before carrying him on his back.

"You fought well Jade. You put everyone before yourself but you only thought of how you could win alone. You never considered asking for help. If you had sent Lian to go and get me the moment Al was taken you wouldn't have had to fight alone the way that you did. A good leader can make the tough choices but a good leader also knows when to ask for help." Koga told him. "There isn't a demon alive that's a match for the eastern wolf demon tribe. Our strength comes from all of us so don't hesitate to ask me or anyone else for help if you need it. That's what being a part of a pack is about. We fight for one another and we fight together." Koga said and Jade understood what he ment.

This whole time he had thought that being the leader meant that the weight of the world was on your shoulders but really being the leader meant that everyone trusted you enough to fight for you and to fight together because you'd be there for them just like they would for you.

The sun set sky of Jade's dream turned pitch black and and a loud thud rang through the air as Kohaku pushed Hisui out of the way hard and he hit the wooden wall of the small hallway as a demon came their way and Kohaku met it head on.

Hisui hadn't even seen it coming but now the ghost demon that had changed overtime to become something more sinister was attacking his uncle. They had thought that there had only been one apparition but they were wrong.

"Hisui there must be another object anchoring this spirit to this place! You go find it while I hold the spirit off!" Kohaku screamed while in the midst of battle.

Hisui acted quickly, running past his uncle and trying his best to think back to every room they had searched beforehand. The first spirit had been connected to this place through a cursed music box. They had only been briefed about one demon spirit. How could a second have shown up?

As Hisui was running he remembered Setsuna saying earlier how she felt strange in the weapons room. The anchor had to be there.

Hisui made his way quickly and his assumption was correct. The room was in chaos as weapons flew around the room but a particular piece of armor now stood out among the rest.

Hisui went to destroy the piece of armor that the spirit had to be anchored to and was almost taken out when the spirit had appeared in the room all of a sudden swinging a sword straight for his neck he would have been killed had it not been for Setsuna who had met the demons blow with her own blade.

"Hurry and break the anchor!" She yelled and Hisui wasted no time and was finally able to purify the object.

The weapons all fell and the spirit disappeared into dust.

"Are you okay?" He asked Setsuna.

"I'm fine." She said and before he could ask anything else Kohaku came storming in.

"Great job Hisui! I knew you could do it." His uncles stated proudly.

"I can't take all of the credit, Setsuna helped me out so I could destroy the anchor." Hisui said honestly.

"Thanks for always saving my nephew in a pinch, Setsuna. I don't know what I'd do if you hadn't come with us." Kohaku said.

"It was no problem we're a team after all." She stated as if it were no big deal and it wasn't to her but that was the moment that Hisui first recalled his insecurity creeping up on him.

The romantic relationship between him and Setsuna was still new at this point and he was just now starting to notice how he wasn't living up to his uncle's expectations nor Setsuna's.

His uncle was right Setsuna had saved him more times than Hisui could count.

How much longer would Setsuna not mind saving him. If this keeps up he might really lose her. The thought ran through Hisui's head.

Now everything went black once again and Rain's cursed puppets filled the room.

Yuki was 13 years old and he and Rain had been operating out of this particular village for half a year the longest he had ever stayed in one place which meant that Yuki had gone through six periods of weakness. During his third month he had made a human friend that he liked to visit now, each time that he had to experience his two midnights as a human.

The sixth midnight had just passed and Yuki had returned back to Rain the morning after he regained his demonic powers ready to be the perfect heir to Naraku's legacy that Rain wanted him to be.

"You were off with that human again weren't you?" Rain asked with a voice full of disgust and Yuki froze.

"What are you talking about?" He asked. Rain couldn't have possibly have found out.

"We've been pulling the strings around here for about 5 months now. Do you think that I wouldn't know that you sneak off and meet the same human each month on your night of weakness?"

"Oh that. I was only curious about the naive workings of such a man. He may seem unassuming at first but he's an artist who has painted for many of the nobility across the continent I was gaining intel."

"Don't lie to me!" Rain pulled at threads with his hands and there he was the friend that had taken Yuki in when he had passed out in the snow because he had nowhere warm to go while in his human state during his first month here.

Yuki's friend Rai, who had taught him how to use paints and oil colors. Rai had made Yuki's nights of weakness so much easier because for the first time he had a place that he could go and now Rain had killed him and made him a lifeless toy.

"If you wanted a pet all you had to do was ask. Aren't you happy I made this doll much stronger and obedient than before." Rain smiled crookedly. He was proud of his work like alway and Yuki wanted to disappear. This was all his fault.

Yuki had made human friends before during his time of weakness with other kids that he could play with when he was younger but never meet again after their first meeting as Yuki and Rain never really stayed in one place for too long, but this. What Rain did to Rai had never happened before.

"Rai had a family. He was painting because he wanted to show his son everywhere he had never been. He couldn't be in his son's life at the moment so he had wished to return to him with pictures that looked better than the places he's seen." Yuki said through clenched teeth. Rain wouldn't care. He knew he wouldn't so why was he telling him this?

"What are you talking about? The life of that human was disposable. The lives of such creatures have no use if they're not getting us to our goals." Rain stated coldly before adding. "Onigumo don't lose sight of our goals." He urged.

Yuki got close to Rai's lifeless corpse puppet and gripped his wrist. He felt cold and hollow. There would be no going back now. There is no reversing the effects of becoming one of Rain's cursed creatures. So there was only one thing that Yuki could do now.

Gone was the man who carried him in from the harsh snow and gave him warm food to eat while he taught him about art and it was all his fault.

Yuki grabbed his blade from his back and in one fell swoop cut off Rai's head.

"How ungrateful. You're father would be so disappointed at seeing you succumb to such irrational feelings. Onigumo you have no need for friends. One day you'll rule over this entire continent and everyone else will be beneath you. Keep repeating this behavior and they'll just become another one of my dolls." Rain stated darkly.

Yuki didn't know what to say. "Rai wasn't my friend he was just someone who cared about me. I didn't care for him not in the slightest." Yuki lied.

He tried not to like Rai from the moment he had woken up next to the warm fireplace in his house but it didn't work. Rai cared about Yuki and Yuki enjoyed being around Rai because he could be himself with ease.

"I know when you're lying." Rain's voice cut through Yuki's thoughts. "I am all that you'll ever need in this world the sooner you remember that the better it will be for both of us and everyone else. Your day of weakness will be the first day of the next month or we'll be paying a visit to this family of Rai's that you brought up. If you don't want Rai's family to be reunited with him then you'll fall back in line and get back to what your father would have wanted for you. Do I make myself clear?" Rain asked.

"Yes uncle." Yuki said before his eyes shot open and he sat up quickly as he breathed in heavily.

That had happened years ago, why was that in his head all of a sudden.

"Hey." Moroha placed her hands on Yuki's shoulders grounding him to reality. "Calm down. That's all in the past, you're with us now." She said and then a sinking feeling hit him in the pit of his stomach. They had all seen that memory of his, all of them had seen everything that he had together.

"Sounds like the 5 of you were able to peer into eachother's memories. But what was Kyuki trying to accomplish with that?" Setsuna asked.

"Unimportant. All I care about is finally killing her and ridding my tribe of her torment." Jade said. "This cave here should be the one right?" He gestured to where Yotsume had been guarding and Setsuna nodded her head.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Towa said from her place much farther away from the rest of them as she had already started to go for the cave.

"Are the rest coming or not?" Jade said as Towa met him at the entrance of Kyuki's cave.

"You wolf demons sure do keep your eye on the prize." Hisui commented.

"Kyuki has been terrorizing our pack for over a month now. The people of my tribe won't be able to live peacefully until she's gone." Jade said as the rest of the teens caught up to him and Jade now tried to enter the cave but was forced back by a barrier.

"Let me handle this." Moroha smiled as she drew her bow and shot an arrow straight through the cave shattering the barrier.

"Let's go!" Towa followed by the rest of the group all ran past Jade who tried his best to quickly catch up to them.

The cave wasn't as large as the group had thought that it would be and Kyuki's scent was easy to find once they were deep enough in the cave.

Moroha shot an arrow at Kyuki that shattered her crystal the moment that she saw Kyuki. They had caught Kyuki looking into the crystal intently, looking as if she had struck gold with something she had seen.

"Spying on people's dreams and invading their privacy like some creepy parasite is unforgivable. Say your last words Kyuki!" Moroha said furiously.

"You're the one that killed Tokotsu. How that idiot and his son ended up being killed by you underwhelming kids is beyond me. But there must be something special about little red besides the rainbow pearl that she's carrying since Rain wants me to kill her." Kyuki said nonchalantly.

"Why are you here terrorizing the eastern wolf demon tribe? What use does any of this do you?" Yuki asked.

"It's nice to see you too, Onigumo. When Rain told me that you two decided to go your separate ways, I had no idea that he actually meant it. But I'm sure you're well aware that you can never really trust a schemer like him."

"Get to the point, Kyuki. Why are you here?" Yuki pushed.

"Watch your tone, Onigumo. If an alliance is what you seek you'll have to stay in my good graces if you want me to choose you over Rain. I came across this tribe of wolves after their leader killed one of my henchmen. Koga the leader of this eastern tribe, interests me so I'd like for this whole tribe to become mine. If I can get their leader to submit then they all belong to me and answer only to my words. Everything's going just as I planned too. Koga will be here soon so you all need to die before he arrives." Kyuki smiled.

"My father doesn't need to sully his hands with your filthy blood. I'll take you down before he gets here!" Jade rushed Kyuki and punched at her hard, she dodged effortlessly and now started attacking them with a purple whip made of her demon energy.

The teens all did their best to fight her in this enclosed space that threatened to collapse if they weren't careful with how they fought. None of them could use their full strength or the cave to threaten to collapse and because of this Kyuki was able to keep them at arm's length.

"Hey red. You look frustrated, why don't you use that rainbow pearl of yours to try and stop me? You might not be strong enough but you can get stronger can't you." Kyuki said trying to coerce Moroha into using the red pearl but Moroha had promised that she wasn't going to use the pearl anymore and she meant it. She wouldn't use the pearl against Kyuki.

"She's baiting you don't do it. She's playing at something else." Setsuna said to Moroha just as Towa landed a hit on Kyuki.

"You don't need the red rainbow pearl, you're already strong enough." Yuki told her.

"You all want to force me to play dirty." Kyuki said just as she pulled a young wolf demon kid form a place she had hidden him within the cave. The kid was unconscious but he was alive.

"Can you use the pearl now? If it means that this kid will die if you don't." Kyuki smirked.

"Franz! Wake up!" Jade said.

"You know this kid?" Hisui asked.

"He went missing a week ago. His family's been worried sick." Jade said while giving a look that could kill to Kyuki.

"Doesn't he make you remember your little brothers?" Kyuki taunted. "Your dreams have given me everything I needed to know to beat you. Now use that red pearl or this kid dies." Kyuki said devilishly.

"Don't do it." Yuki said. "She's just going to kill him either way."

Moroha looked to her friends and then to Yuki as she took out her rogue. She didn't want to use the red pearl again but she couldn't stand by and let someone die when she could save them.

"Even if I do this Kyuki might still try to kill the kid but I can't stand and do nothing when I can save him." Moroha said as she placed the red tint on her lips and tried to use the rainbow pearl but it didn't work now and Towa's demon blade had evaporated at the same time. Yuki's barriers also wouldn't work.

"I adjusted Yotosume's dream gazing spell to be a little more than you all might have anticipated. I've stolen all of the demon energy of those affected by my spell." She smiled.

"Too bad for you I wasn't hit by that sham of a spell. I'll kill you right where you stand and end this now." Setsuna said and she and Kyuki fought until they had to evacuate from the cave and Kyuki changed into her more monstrous true form.

Setsuna charged in head first with her Scourge of swallows attack. While Yuki, Towa and Hisui tried baking her up, all of their attacks were absorbed by Kyuki who shrieked in pleasure at the display before beating them back with her own moves.

Jade ran at Kyuki fast and used his thunder attack to which Kyuki only absorbed before striking back at him with enough force to kill. If Moroha hadn't intervened and tackled him out of the way in time.

"I can absorb any demon energy, keep it up you half demon fools. The last one of you standing can have the chance to work for me." She shrieked.

"We can't fight her like this." Yuki said as he dodged Kyuki's next attack he could feel how much weaker he was than normal. Even creating small barriers was taking much more out of him and they weren't even half as strong as they normally were. Jade ran straight past Yuki ready to get back into the fight for his tribe.

"We have to do something or we'll all be killed!" Jade yelled as he tried his best to land a hit on Kyuki but she only swatted him away.

"Keep this going let's see how much of your energy I'll steal before you die." Kyuki taunted them.

Hisui flew overhead on Kilala watching as his friends attacked to no avail when something clicked and he finally saw a way for them to win.

"Hey what are you doing up there! We could really use your help at the moment!" Moroha said. Sarcastically calling Hisui out as she did her best to dodge Kyuki's blows and Hisui smiled.

"I just found a way for us to win. Get Towa and take cover!" He shouted down and Moroha did just that, pulling her cousin from the fight and taking cover with her and Hisui as Setsuna, Jade and Yuki continued to fight Kyuki.

"Towa, you can absorb demon energy just like Kyuki and judging how the both of you fight, Towa's capacity is most likely more than hers. you're our trump card here." Hisui told Towa.

"Yeah I can absorb demon energy too but I've barely had any practice at it. It might not work. Head on group combat might still be our best option here."

"Don't talk like that. I know you can do it. We'll start by having you absorb energy from Moroha and then once you're at full strength you can finish off Kyuki." Hisui said.

"Yeah Towa, you've got this I know you can do it." Moroha said.

"Fine, let's try this." Towa said determined. "Hit me with all you've got Moroha." Towa said and Moroha used her iron reaver soul stealer attack over and over and watched as Towa gained more energy until her blade was at its normal size again and she could go and hit Kyuki with her dragon attack.

Towa mustered up all the strength that she could into attacking Kyuki was the dragon strike but it still wasn't enough. Kyuki absorbed it much to Towa's surprise and Kyuki immediately saw the danger that letting Towa live to keep fighting would hold to her.

In response to Towa's attack and this realization Kyuki hit Towa with the full force of her own demon energy. Kyuki thought that she was finishing her off but Towa was able to withstand her attack managing to absorb Kyuki's own overpowered energy before blasting Kyuki one last time with a much bigger dragon strike and this time Kyuki was beaten back and she flew far from them and reverting her to her normal form.

Towa immediately dropped to her knees in response to using almost all of her energy and dropped her sword as she caught her breath.

Setsuna, Jade and the others all ran to her side while Yuki walked to Kyuki's now evaporating corpse since an unwelcome visitor had now made himself known and was standing right next to Kyuki's now evaporating corpse.

"Riku, what are you doing here?" Yuki asked.

"Long time no see, Onigumo." He smiled. "I heard you flipped the script on Rain good for you."

"He betrayed me. Are you here on his behalf?" Yuki askd.

"Relax, what the two of you do is of no concern to me as long as you don't get in the way of my goals and leave the rainbow pearls alone."

"Rain's got three."

"I know, I'm letting him borrow them for a moment but he knows who they belong to just like you're well aware of who owns the red rainbow pearl that that girl has."

"Riku if you —" Yuki started.

"Don't worry old friend." Riku smirked. "I'll let you hold it for now. I've got three right here and I know where each pearl is. They're all already mine as soon as I wish to have them all again, so I have no intentions of taking it today."

"Fine then leave us." Yuki said short.

"You're so cold Onigumo and even to your friends like me." Riku pretended to be hurt by Yuki's words.

"Ha, you're as slippery as a snake oil salesman stay away from me." Yuki said.

"If you insist. But not before I aquant myself with someone interesting." Riku said and before Yuki could do anything he was right in front of Towa.

"Now you are one powerful warrior. It was an honor to watch you fight today and even better to see you win. Might I have the pleasure of learning your name?" Riku asked politely.

"I'm Towa." She shrugged.

"And she's not interested in whatever you're trying to sell or trade. None of us are so you can move along." Hisui said.

"I'm not here to sell anything. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I hope we meet again soon. Princess Towa." Riku said before turning his back and going on his way and then moving his earrings before disappearing.

"That guy's trouble. If he ever approaches you again kill him on sight." Yuki siad.

"Now isn't that a little extreme." Moroha asked.

"Not at all."

"What the hell happen here?"

The teens all turned to see a man that looked a lot like Jade only more mature in features and his aura had a stronger presence as well.

"Outsiders aren't welcome here." The man said coldly.

"Father, please make an exception this time. These outsiders have slayed Kyuki so she'll no longer be threatening our tribe anymore. We even found Franz."

"They killed Kyuki?" Koga asked.

"We all did." Towa said. And Koga's eyes landed on Moroha pausing briefly before quickly running towards her taking everyone off guard when he picked her up from under her shoulders and held her up as he stared at her face.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing? Put me down now." Moroha said, sharply reacting immediately.

"Father, what are you doing?"

"There's no question about it." Koga smiled. "You're Kagome's daughter aren't you?" Koga said happily.

"You, you know my mom?" Moroha asked surprised.

"You can say that I was your mother's first love but that's all in the past now. You can just call me Uncle Koga. How's your father Inuyasha? I bet he's really shaped up over the years hasn't he? I'm glad that your mother was able to get back to us" Koga smiled.

"My father is the strongest demon in the world." Moroha said right away.

"Yes you're definitely their daughter." Koga put her down.

"Well Kagome's daughter what's your name?" Koga asked.

"It's Moroha."

"We'll Moroha you and your friends are all coming back home with Uncle Koga tonight for a party to celebrate your victory."

"B—but father outsiders." Jade stated.

"Kagome's daughter is not an outsider." Koga said. " And a friend of hers is a friend of ours."

A.N: I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. I made this chapter a little longer than I usually like because I haven't updated in awhile. I've had the idea to add Koga and the wolf demons to this story ever since I first wrote chapter 1 so I'm really happy that I've written this far into what I had planned. I feel like not having Koga and Ayame have any children in the Yashahime anime was such a missed opportunity. In the next chapter we'll spend some more time with Koga and the eastern wolf demons. The next update should hopefully be up around the weekend of July 7th. Thank you for reading and for the favs and follows.
