CHAPTER 6: THE SUMMER IS SET

[Monday, 4th March.]
[08:30 AM.]

Monday morning. Birds chirping, sun rising, air breezing… That day, the summer holiday had officially begun. After having their breakfast, fresh bath, and jolly mood, the Louds were finally ready for a great adventure.
Lynn Sr (Girls): "Are you ready, kids!?" [shouts]
Loud Kids: "Aye aye, Captain!" [shouts]
Lynn Sr (Girls): "I can't hear you!" [shouts]
Loud Kids: "AYE AYE, CAPTAIN!" [shouts]
Lori: "HOOOUUUUUUUUUUU…" [hits the gas pedal]

The mild green Vanzilla departed from home. Lori was behind its wheel. For short notice, to allow another Louds family sit in their comfy seats, the Louds had rented a camping trailer towed behind the van. And to allow these two passenger carts to communicate with each other, Leif and Lana had come up with the idea of a pair of wired microphones and speakers, but on the other hand, Levi and Lisa thought it would be far more efficient if they could use Lincoln's upgraded walkie-talkie instead.
On the front seat, right besides Lori's, Loki recapitulated their grand journey plan.
Loki: "So, our first stop is Dairyland. There, we're gonna enjoy Lane's first debut in Cream Comes True Uddertorium theatre…" [checks his phone notes]
Lane: "Hee-heee!" [squeals in joy]
Luan: [giggles as she sees the nervous Lane]
Luan: "Chill out, Lane! You still got your cool!"
Mr. Coconuts: "No need to act weird, toots! Take a deep breathe!"
Mrs. Coconuts: "Just wrap your nerves and don't blow up your wig!"
Lane: "Okay- Okay! I got this!" [a bit nervous]
Lori: "And then we head out to Dad's restaurant of Lynn's Tables for a lunch around 1 PM…" [drives]
Lynn Sr (Boys): "Oh, hoho! I can't wait to see its kitchen!" [squeals]
Lynn Sr (Girls): "I hope Grant is doing his job well guarding the vault! Who knows there's a big momma Hubbard chewing our food stocks while we're on the way!" [mentions brown rats]
Boy Lynn Jr: "Well I can't wait for our next treat! As long as it's not Lynnsagna… I have had enough of it! I wish it's stuffed with super protein boost!" [pumped]
Leif: "Me too!" [smiles]
Lola: "Hey, you promised me that you would build a new bathroom for me today, right!?" [gives a menacing look]
The day before, Leif did promise that the construction of a new bathroom inside Lana and Lola's bedroom would be conducted today. However, it had to be delayed.
Lana: "Oh sorry about that, Lols! We had to rearrange the schedule! You know, it's from the eldest! The order is given!" [shrugs]
Lori: "Yeah! A new bathroom might be fancy, but that can wait. I literally cannot wait to show Loki and his family the beautiful sunset of Aloha Beach!" [smiles]
Loki: "This vacation will literally be awesome! Right, guys!?" [shouts, looks at the back seats]
Loud Brothers: "YEEEAAAH!" [cheers]
Loud Sisters: "WOOOHOOO!" [cheers]
Hearing vacation word, Lola shrugged. Guess she couldn't help it.
Lola: "Hm. Fair enough. We cannot miss a good vacation after all!" [shrugs]
Loki: "Right. Aand, talking about Aloha Beach, we'll straight hit the spot right after lunch!" [looks back at the notes]
Lynn Jr: "Hehehe, time to ride a big wave, baby!" [pumped]
Lucy: "This will be fun." [smiles]
Lars: "Agreed." [smiles too]
Everyone looked at them with a long gasp. Goth? Beach? These two words are not supposed to get along, right?
Leni: "OMGosh! I knew you would one day love beach, Lus!" [happy, pats Lucy]
Boy Lynn Jr: "But… Ain't it strange? Lars and probably Lucy I know hate beach and sunset with passion! What's gotten into you two?" [confused]
Lucy: "Two words." [points V finger sign]
Lars: "Shark. Attack." [smiles]
Loni: "S- SHARK!?" [panics]
Lisa: "Fret not, brother. The beach we are heading for is actually a lake of fresh water. The probability number of encounter of sharks within Aloha Beach is approximately one to one mill-" [explains]
Lars: "…Sigh. You just ruined our moment." [facepalm]
And yet, talking about beach party, Luna and Luke had something for it.
Luke: "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Come attend our summer concert live on the Aloha Beach!" [rocking pose]
Luna: "I have contacted my crew that they should come shortly with our weaponry. Chunksky said that they're gonna arrive at 3 PM!" [rocking pose too]
In which, everyone delighted. They cheered.
Loki: "So it is settled, then. We should not waste-"
Lily: "ICE CREAM!" [looks through the window, shouts]
Leon: "ICE CREAM!" [same]
The Louds happened to come passing by Auntie Pam's Ice Cream Parlor.
Rita (Boys): "Whoa- Easy, sweetie!" [tries to calm Leon down]
Rita (Girls): "There should be an ice cream parlor in Dairyland. How about we buy some there? Hmm?" [gently pats Lily's head]
Lily: "B- But…" [sad]
Lori: "Don't worry, you two. I'm positive that you'll get a much bigger and much sweeter scoop of ice cream once we arrive at Dairyland. Hang in there for a liiiiitle bit longer, ookaaay?" [talks gently]
Leon: "Hmmph…" [upset]
Lexx: "Talk about waiting… When are we going to arrive!? I'm getting sick!" [grumbles, feels bored]
Levi: "Our departure was 30 minutes past present. Judging our velocity and its correlation with the travel distance of our home and Dairyland, our ETA is-" [thinks]
Linka: "Hey! There it is!" [points the entrance from afar]
Yes. Linka could see Dairyland Amusement Park from the horizon. Soon, everyone cheered out of excitement waiting for them.
Lori: "Great! I can see it too!" [happy]
Lincoln: "Dairyland, here we come!" [eager]
Loki: "Okay, ladies and gentlemen! You know the drill! This is it!" [announces a briefing]

[Dairyland Amusement Park.]
[Monday, 4th March.]
[09:45 AM.]

After an hour of travel, a single faraway sight of Dairyland was enough to boost the mood of the Loud children in swing.
Soon, right after hopping out of the van, everyone scrambled all across the wide park to seek their own fun.
Lynn Sr (Girls): "Kids! Remember, your time is until 11 AM! Afterwards, the theatre is beginning at its earnest!" [shouts]
Loud Kids: "Yes, Sir!" [shouts back as they run deeper into the park]
Lane: "We better head to the stage fast so I can prepare the finishing touch! Which way?"
Luan: "I know the way to the Uddertorium! Follow me!" [begins running]
Lane: "Right behind you!" [follows Luan]
The most notable ones were the Lynn Junior twins and the quadruplets. They were already seen impatiently waiting in line for the excitement and some good old vomiting of the Whips Cream Roller Coaster.
Boy Lynn Jr: "WAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOO!"
Lynn Jr: "YOW! YOU OKAY RIGHT THERE, SIS?" [shouts out of turbulence]
Lola: "Shut up, Lynn… Why don't you just-" [vomits]
Lexx: "I- I think I'm gonna…" [vomits too]
Lana: "YEEEEEEAHH! BEST RIDE EVER!" [jubilant]
Leif: "WOOOOOOO! AGAIN! AGAIN!" [jubilant]
Loki decided to get Lori a huge Teddy bear doll by winning the shooting ball challenge, as if it was a date.
Loki: "Yow, Lori! Look what I found!" [carries a big Teddy doll]
Lori: "Omigosh- That's sweet of you, Loki! But we're still not lovers, right?" [pleased]
Loki: "Just give this to Bobby, then. I'm sure he'll love it, especially from your hands." [smiles]
Lori: "Well, if that's the case… I'll send your regards to him as well. Thank you, brother." [smiles, takes the doll from Loki]
Loki: "No problem. This one though, is for Bebe." [pulls out another Teddy doll]
Next, they would row a boat in the Sea of Cheese.
Luke, Loni, and Lincoln were already gone into the Milk Shaker, while Luna, Leni, and Linka couldn't help themselves but keep a close eye on those three happily ever boys.
Leni: "Are- Are you guys totes sure about this?" [a little bit nervous to see the Milk Shaker]
Luke: "Yeah! The seism is so heavy you're gonna have your stomach busted upside down!" [impetuous]
Loni: "You're not coming?"
Luna: "I… I think we're just gonna wait outside and watch you guys from the ground. Brrrrrr!" [scared]
Linka: "Y… Yeah. Our heads are not ready for some barrage of bounce-" [scared]
Lincoln: "Oh, come on! You girls are acting like a wimp!" [drags Linka inside]
Linka: "E- EEEEK!?" [startled, panics]
Luke: "Yeah, come join us! You're not gonna enjoy this every day! Move along!" [drags Luna inside]
Luna: "N- NO! Wait-" [startled, panics]
Leni: "Why are you guys dragging us into this!?" [panics]
Loni: "Easy, Leni. Trust me, you're totes gonna LOVE this!" [drags Leni inside]
Lily and Leon, accompanied by both Ritas, finally had their scoop of sundae ice cream a la Dairyland.
Leon: "Kekeke!" [eats a spoon of ice cream]
Lily: "Gaaaaaaa…" [feels high after a dozen of ice cream spoons]
Rita (Girls): "Whoa- Here's some drink, honey!" [takes a dotted milk bottle]
Rita (Boys): "Feeling better, sweetie?" [adored]
Leon: "Much better!" [smiles]
Lily: "Thanks, Mommy!" [smiles]
Lars, Lucy, Levi, and Lisa, not interested in some milk of fun, decided to just sit down on a bench.
Meanwhile, within the Uddertorium, Lane secretly trained himself to fit the role of Heidi Heifer as Luan coached him through the basics before the main show began.
Lane: "Moooohhh… Mooooooooohhh?" [trains his moo-ing pitch]
Luan: "No, no- Not like that, Lane! Your 'mooooohh' must sound much more convincing!" [sits on a chair, monitors Lane's training]
Lane: "Pant… pant… Like how exactly?" [confused]
Luan: "Here, let me show you how. Moooooooooohhhh!" [begins moo-ing]
Mrs. Coconuts: "Hey, you're using a high pitch! That's easy for you, not for my buddy right here!" [protests]
Mr. Coconuts: "Oh yeah? You want to do it on his behalf?" [feels unamused]
Luan: "Whoa- Stop it, you two! And especially you, Mr. C!" [mad]
Mr. Coconuts: "What? Someone has to spell it out, right?" [shrugs]
Lane: "Phew… Haha. It's okay, Luan. Well, let's do it again." [just laughs]
Mrs. Coconuts: "Take it slow, toots. We still have three quarters a minute!"

[Dairyland Amusement Park.]
[Monday, 4th March.]
[11:00 AM.]
.
11 AM. It's showtime. On the stage…
Lane: "Oh, Dairy Godmother…! It makes my stomach trembles just thinking about this dream coming to an end…!" [in Heidi costume]
Mrs. Bernardo: "It doesn't have to, my little cheese angel." [in dairy fairy costume, descends from the upper platform using tied rope]
As Mrs. Bernardo flicked her cheese wand, a huge fridge of Dairyland products rose from the stage floor.
Lane & Mrs. Bernardo: "Eating yogurt and feta cheese too," [sings along]
Lane & Mrs. Bernardo: "All of this dairy's A dream come true!"
The closure was followed by a massive standing ovation. A great success.
Audiences: "WOOOOOOOOOO! YEEEEEEAHH!" [cheers]
Luan: "You NAILed 'em boards, Lane! WELL DONE!" [among the audiences, in the front rank]
Mrs. Bernardo: "Thank you! Thank- LUAN!?" [notices Luan among the crowds instead of supposedly being in Heidi costume on the stage, shocked]
Director: "Wait a minute… Luan!?" [comes from the backstage]
Luan: "D- Director!?" [shocked]
Director: "You should have played your role as Heidi on that stage! Not just watch the show as an audience!" [mad]
Luan: "Well, I should have, and look how sMOOOOOOth it went! Hahaha!" [plays innocent]
Director: "…But, if you're here… Who's in that costume?" [looks at Heidi with confusion]
Luan: "Why don't you find out?" [grins]
Director: [opens the Heidi costume mask]
As the Director lifted the blonde cowgirl mask, a familiar yet distinctive face began to reveal itself from inside. Which, as Luan expected, would give a slapping twist.
Lane: "Boo!"
Director: "WAA-" [shocked, falls on her butt]
Mrs. Bernardo: [gasps]
Audiences: [gasps]
Lane & Luan: "Hahahaha!" [laughs out loud]
Director: "T- There's 2 Luans!? What kind of joke is this!?" [stands up, still in shock]
Luan: "No! Sorry for the late notice, but…" [hops on the stage]
Luan: "This here's my cousin! Say hello!" [grabs Lane's shoulder]
Lane: "My name is Lane! It's been an honor, folks!" [bows to the audiences]
Mrs. Bernardo: "Oh my God… Cousin!? She never told me she had one!" [gasps]
Director: "Okay, okay, so he's your cousin, but what the heck is this all about!?" [still confused]
Luan: "Oh, nothing! We just want to prank you all!" [shrugs]
Lane: "See, we are twins right here, so I want to see if I can fool Director and the audiences behind this Heidi costume as long as I mimic Luan's voice!"
Luan: "And he nailed the stage act!"
The Director just sighed from seeing all the picture.
Director: "Well, he did nail the role, at least. But I have no sense of secure for a stranger behind that mask who potentially can mess up the whole plot!" [upset]
Lane: "I… I'm sorry, Madame." [pensive]
Luan: "Wait- No! It's all on me! I set this whole prank up! It was all my idea!" [tries to defend Lane]
But instead of following up her disappointment, Director grinned.
Director: "But, considering this is a grand stage, I guess we already have a substitute for you!" [evil grin]
Luan: "Wh- What!?" [gasps]
Lane: "You said it yourself this is all on you, Luan!" [shrugs]
Welp. There went her career. Or…?
Director: "Haha, just kidding, Luan. I happen to know that your cousin is not from this part of town." [laughs]
Luan: "Oh-! …Right. Sorry for this whole set-up." [pensive]
Mrs. Bernardo: "You two look like a pair of shoes! Where do you actually come from, boy?" [comes after Lane]
Lane: "Uhh… I'm from Southern Michigan! And you must be Mrs. Bernardo. Luan told me a lot about you!" [glad to see Mrs. Bernardo]

[Lynn's Table Restaurant.]
[Monday, 4th March.]
[12:45 AM.]
.
The Louds headed to their heritage food court for some lunch.
Boy Lynn Jr: "Aaaargh! What took our dads so long!?" [on table, impatiently upset]
Lynn Jr: "It's been nearly an hour!" [mad]
Lexx: "Sure they can't be fighting again, can they!?" [mad]
Lola: "Well if that's what's happening, we're doomed!"
Lana: "I'm going to check out the kitchen!" [wakes up, walks to the kitchen]
There, both patriarchs showed what it means to have a rivalry in the kitchen. Lana was by the door, peeking inside.
Lynn Sr (Girls): "Hah! Think you can do this faster!?" [chops onion leaves]
Lynn Sr (Boys): "I bet your sour is not any better than this!" [fries a lamb sauce]
Lana: "…Uh oh." [looks pale]
Leif: "What do you see?" [curious]
Lana: "You're right… They're fighting again!" [agitated]
Leif: "Oh, boy."

[Aloha Beach.]
[Monday, 4th March.]
[17:10 AM.]
.
And finally… What could be a better closure than the sunset in a beach?
Lucy: "Haha." [surfing]
Lars: "This is fun." [surfing]
Boy Lynn Jr: "Whoa, never thought you could stand on board!" [surfing]
Lynn Jr: "Now let's see who can make it to the concert first!" [surfing]
In the middle of the concert…
Luna: "PLAY IT LOUD, PLAY IT LOUD," [on the stage, sings]
Luke: "I GOT NO TIME TO TURN IT DOWN,"
Luna: "PLAY IT LOUD, PLAY IT PROUD,"
Luke: "I live it, I breathe it, don't tell me I DON'T NEED IT NOW, PLAY IT LOUD,"
Luna: "SORRY I'M NOT SORRY FOR BEING PROUD,"
Luke: "PLAY IT LOUD, pick it up,"
Luna: "UNTIL YOUR SPEAKERS BLOW UP!"
What a resounding success.
Audiences: "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~~!" [cheers]
Lori: "This is SOOOO GREAT!" [jubilant]
Loki: "Literally! AWESOME!"
Loni: "H-Hey! Can someone help me? I can't stop headbanging!" [keeps headbanging to the rhythm]
Leni: "Yeah! Me too! Help!" [headbangs]
Lisa: "Let me at the stage and I'm going to break the floor by bazzilion!" [jubilant]
Levi: "You're going to need some DJ up there, milady!"
Lexx: "This is the BEST SUMMER OF MY LIFE EVER!" [dances]
Lola: "ME TOO!" [dances]
Leif: "Don't forget us!" [dances with Lana]
Linka: "Hey! What goes well ends well, don't you think buddy?"
Lincoln: "Yeah! And I wish Clyde was here!"

That hell of a night made sure that everyone was high after such a tiresome day.
