The Legacy You Leave
Chapter 17
authors note : I loved Brooke in the last chapter. It was giving Victoria energy. But Brooke style. Audrey needed to be put in her place.
You know, you might wanna take a long hard look in the mirror. And see if the guy staring back at you is the kind of person you want to be
Later on that day
On her lunch break. Brooke got her take out order and drove over to Lucas's office. She needed to go into depth about her encounter with Audrey.
She entered his office the receptionist smiled and waved.
Lucas was typing away and hadn't even noticed she had entered the office.
When he spotted her he stopped typing. And looked to her.
"Lunch and you're pretty face. Just what i needed." Lucas said. With a smile.
"I know you're hard at work. Planning and figuring out that last novel. Which is why I want us to eat before i bring up."
"What i need to discuss." Brooke explained.
"Something is wrong." Lucas said.
"Yes it isn't the kids or you're mom or our friends." Brooke clarified.
Lucas breathed a sigh of relief but ate and wanted to hear what Brooke had to say.
Once they finished eating.
Brooke went into detail about going to see Audrey and what she had said.
"She said there was nothing to worry about. But let's be real."
"She didn't deny having feelings for you."
"But i meant what i said about me trusting you."
"So i just needed to be honest about it. I was defending our relationship and our marriage."
"You understand that." Brooke explained.
...
"Was she right. You want to take a step back from our friendship and didnt want to hurt my feelings?" Audrey questioned.
When Lucas found her by his car at the end of his work day.
"Do i like our friendship. Do we work well together. Yes."
"I'm not going to apoligize for my wife. She did what she thought was right."
"But you having feelings for me isn't reality is it?" Lucas questioned.
Audrey didn't answer. Instead she grabbed his face and kissed him.
Right there in the office parking lot.
"Ever since we worked on that first book together. My feelings have grown beyond friendship and I don't know what to do about it."
"I shouldn't feel this way and its wrong."
"But seeing you with her makes me so jealous. Because i want to the one who you're looks and affection are reserved for."
"I love you. I shouldn't but I do." Audrey admitted.
"Do you feel anything for me at all?" Audrey questioned.
Lucas stared back at her his eyes wide. His thoughts racing.
"I'm married. I'm a father. My life. My decisions have consequences. You really shouldn't of told me any of this." Lucas replied.
"I need to go home and we can't see each other even regarding work." Lucas added in.
"That wasn't a no Luke." Audrey replied.
