Husker smiles sadly looking up at the light that was Heaven shining in the sky. Angel Dust had made it past the Pearly Gates that day, the two of them parting with Angel crying begging to stay with the one he loved but Husk saw him off with a smile that did not reach his eyes. He took a swig from the bottle he held and started to sing thinking back,
"I was the who had it all,
I was the master of my fate,
I never needed anybody in my life,
I learned the truth too late."
He stood dusting his pants off thinking that Angel, no, Anthony wouldn't want to see him like this but then again, the now former porn star was gone. Husk spread his colorful wings and started to fly to his room's balcony, not wanting to pass anyone else on his way to sulk.
"I'll never shake away the pain,
I close my eyes but he's still there,
I let him steal into my melancholy heart,
It's more than I can bear."
As he landed and took another sip of the numbing liquid that barely worked on him anymore if he was honest, he thought about how proud he was of the other sinners including Angel. They had all worked hard to redeem themselves and help Charlie not only keep her people safe but also give people like Lute no fair reason to attack. Well at least not for the reason of killing sinners.
"Now I know he'll never leave me,
Even as he floats away,
He will still torment me,
Calm me, hurt me,
Move me, come what may,"
He walked into his room, looking around. Not too long ago he and Angel would have been likely sitting together chatting, or he'd be helping Angel curl his hair but now it was empty.
"Wasting in this lonely hotel,
Waiting by an open door,
I'll fool myself he'll walk right in,
And be with me for evermore,"
Anger filled him, if it wasn't for his deal with Alister he might be up there with the man he loved, instead he was stuck slinging hooch! After smashing a few things in frustration, he picked up a photo he and Angel had taken together.
"I rage against the trials of love,
I curse the fading of the light,
Though he's already gone so far beyond my reach,
He's never out of sight…"
The cat like sinner gently stroked the image of the smiling spider, feeling bitter-sweet again. He put paw/hand to his chest thinking about something his grandmother had told him as a boy. That A) if you love someone its best to let them go if you must and B) they would always be in his heart.
"Now I know he'll never leave me,
Even as he fades from view,
He will still inspire me,
Be a part of everything I do"
It was then Husker found a new determination building inside him, he would find a way to break his contract with Alister and get his soul back so he could be redeemed too. He would find Angel up in Heaven!
"Working in this lonely hotel
Waiting by an open door
I won't fool myself he'll walk right in
And as the hard, hard work begins,
I'll think off that will be,
As he's waiting there… for evermore!"
That was when he heard a clapping behind him, turning to see Alister the Radio demon clapping.
"That was beautiful," commented the deer like demon.
"What do you want?"
Alister's smile faded slightly, "We have known each other a long time now. I've never seen you look at anyone the way you looked at him, nor anything…I know you think I'm a monster but even I have a respect for love…"
Husker blinked as a familiar scroll of paper appeared in Alister's hand, "Wait…are you doing what I think you're doing?"
The jazz lover nodded as he unrolled their contract and ripped it into two, making it null and void. Smiling for real as Husker started to glow and float up to heaven to be with the one he loved.
