"I think this is the fanciest place I've ever eaten at," Bucky drawled, "It's at least twice as fancy as that place we went to fer our honeymoon." Hazel groaned and said, "Please, don't remind me! That place was so bad!" "Didn't care for the selection?" Angel asked. "Don't care much for food poisoning," Hazel huffed, "Seriously, the food tasted great, but about five minutes later… well, you can imagine. Poor Bucky spent the last three days of our vacation in bed. We had to call Mama Li to come and get us. It was the absolute effing worst!"
"Damn! How is Lila doing?" Husk asked, "You kids aren't driving that sweet old gal too crazy are you?" Hazel and Bucky chuckled, shaking their heads as Bucky said, "Naw, Ma's doing just fine. Still sharp as a tack and stronger than a Hell-hog." The group burst into laughter, exchanging high-fives, hugs, and wiping away happy tears as the laughter died down. "So, how long have you two been an item?" Bucky asked, "You and Angel must be pretty tight for you to bring him out to meet with us."
"Well… I had to bring somebody," Husk shrugged, "And it sure as fuck wasn't gonna be Al." "Good," Hazel snapped, "The less I have to put up with that jackass, the better. I mean, ugh… I know he's like, your boss or whatever, dad. But I find Alastor to be… frankly I think he's insufferable." Husk groaned and shook his head, muttering, "You have no idea. But, at least he's not here now to spoil our fun. So, let's just grab some good food and have a fun time. Okay?"
"Hello," a voice called; the group turned to see a gray skinned she-devil sinner in a server's uniform, "My name is Cindy and I'll be your server for this evening. Can I get you started off with some drinks?" "Oh, uh… well," Husk looked up at Angel, his face suddenly a bit nervous; Angel smiled, reaching under the table and taking his hand to give it a gentle squeeze, "We'll get back to you on that one." Angel said. "What about you two?"
"Nope, sorry," Bucky said, "Nothing personal, but there's only one kind of booze I drink and they don't serve it. I'll just have a tall glass of ice water with some lime squeezed in it. If it ain't too much trouble." "No trouble at all," Cindy smiled, "And, you, miss?"
"Uh… ooh, where is your bathrooms?" Hazel moaned, "I… I need to go to the ladies' room." "Oh, it's down that way to the left." Hazel thanked the waitress before trotting off. "I'll just bring her some water and a few lemon and lime wedges just in case. Anything else?" The guys exchanged glances and shook their heads. "Great," Cindy cheered, "Be back in a bit."
"That was odd." Angel said. "Is something going on, Bucky?" Husk asked, "Hazel was looking a little peaked back there." "Huh? Oh, no, she's fine." Bucky waived. Husk raised his brow and hummed curiously. Hazel came back a few minutes later and sat down with a sigh.
"You okay, sweetie?" Husk asked. "I'm fine, dad," Hazel chuckled, "Trust me, I'm good." Husk let out an uncertain hum, crossing his arms as he eyed Hazel and Bucky suspiciously. "Really, dad, I'm fine," Hazel assured, "In fact, I've never been better." The two imps looked at each other, covering their mouths as they tried to muffle their laughter.
"Alright, what's going on?" Husk asked, feeling a smile cross his face, "Come on, out with it. You two are hiding something, I can tell." "Better just give it to him, sweetie," Bucky chuckled, "You know better than anyone that you can't put anything past yer Pa. Least not fer long."
Hazel laughed and nodded, putting her purse on the table and said, "You're right about that one, Buck." Hazel riffled through her bag for a second before pulling out a small, rectangular box with a little red bow. "You didn't tell me it was your birthday, Husk," Angel said, "I would've gotten you something, too." "It isn't," Husk shrugged, "I haven't celebrated my birthday in over ten years. You guys didn't have to get me anything."
"Oh… we didn't," Bucky chuckled. "Just open it!" Hazel urged, putting on a big-eyed expression, "Please." Husk groaned, shaking his head as he took the box and said, "I must be getting soft. I swear, all these girls in my life are gonna be the double death of me one of these days."
Hazel and Buck watched excitedly as Husk carefully unwrapped and opened the box, pulling out a small piece of white plastic with a little circle near the middle. Running up and down the middle of the circle were two bold pink lines. Husk inspected the plastic object curiously for a moment before looking at the imps and said, "Okay… what is it?"
Angel grabbed Husk's wrist and turned his hand to get a better look. "This is one of those home test things. I recognize the brand, too; a few of the ladies that work at Val's strip club mentioned it once. I think it's a pregnancy test. Two lines is positive, isn't it?" Husk's eyes grew wide as Hazel nodded, a big grin on her face.
"F-for… for real? Is this real?" Husk stammered, "You're… you're," "Pregnant!" Hazel finished, "I'm about twelve weeks along." Bucky nodded and said, "We wanted to tell you way sooner, but with the weather being what it's been down in Wrath, well… are you mad?"
"Mad!? Are you crazy? Why would I be mad?" Husk laughed, standing up as Hazel got up to wrap their arms around each other in a warm hug, "This is the best gift you could ever give me. Hahahaha! I'm gonna be a grandpa!" "Mazel tov!" a random voice called, followed by a few scattered applause. Husk and Hazel just chuckled, holding each other close as they hugged; Angel smiled as he watched Husk and the two imps hug and laugh together, all while wiping away a few happy tears.
"Are we ready to order? Uh," Angel turned to see Cindy standing by the table, watching in confusion as she pointed to the three demons and said, "Is everything… okay?" "Could you give us just five more minutes?" Angel asked, "They should be allowed to enjoy this… they deserve it."
