Onward to Victory Road
After Kevin got his Pokemon back from the nurse, the group are currently in their room in the Snowbelle City Pokemon Center.
"So, where should we train for the Kalos League, guys?" asked Nazz. Kevin lays down their map on the desk in their room and looks at it.
"Victory Road." said Kevin, pointing at a spot on the map.
"Hey; remember how the Eds told us how they spent a month at a Victory Road, preparing for the Lily of the Valley Conference?" asked Jonny.
"Yes; Rolf recalls the Ed boys telling us that." replied Rolf.
"I guess there's a Victory Road in each Pokemon Region." said Nazz. "So, how do we get there?"
"We just have to travel west of here, go through Route 21, and after that, we'll arrive at Victory Road." said Kevin.
"Awesome." said Nazz.
"Let's get to sleep; I want to get to Victory Road and train my Pokemon like the Eds did back at Sinnoh." said Jonny.
"Yes; Rolf is also eager to begin training his Pokemon." said Rolf.
"I want to get my Pokemon ready for the Kalos League and the Battle Chateau." said Nazz.
"Remember; the Eds took Saturdays off because they didn't want to put too much stress on their Pokemon." said Kevin.
"Good call, Kev." said Nazz. Kevin then turns off the light and the group climbed into their beds and fell asleep. While they slept, Austin, wearing a blue parka, a red chullo hat with a black pokeball design, black gloves and boots, entered the Pokemon Center.
"I guess it's too late to challenge the gym here; guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow." said Austin. He gives the nurse his Pokemon and walks to the cafeteria.
The next day, the group are currently at the cafeteria, enjoying a hot breakfast before journeying to Victory Road.
"Man, I can't wait to get to Victory Road and start training my Pokemon." said Kevin.
"Me, too; it sounded exciting when the Eds told us how they did." said Jonny before taking a bite out of scrambled eggs.
"Well, well, if it isn't the crazy kid." said a familiar voice Jonny recognized that made him frown. He looks to see his rival, Tony standing near him.
"What are you doing here?" asked Jonny, bitterly.
"I'm here to challenge the Snowbelle City Gym." replied Tony. He then looks at the fork Jonny was holding. "Are you eating with that fork or having conversation with it?"
"He's eating with it, dork." said Kevin.
"Hey, dweeb." said a voice that made Kevin frown. He looked to see his rival, Carter, standing near him with his skateboard under his arm. "You here to challenge the gym here, too?" Kevin takes out his badge case and opens it; he holds it out towards Carter.
"Already did; won the Iceberg Badge." replied Kevin.
"You have eight badges?!" asked Carter.
"We all do." replied Jonny as he, Rolf, and Nazz pull out their badge cases and showed Carter their badges.
"I find it hard to believe a country bumpkin like you could win eight badges." said a voice that Rolf recognizes. He looks to see Austin, standing near him while holding a tray with pancakes and orange juice.
"Such a pitiful breakfast." said Rolf, looking at Austin's breakfast. "Rolf prefers the taste of mammal flesh." He looks at his tray that had a plate piled with scrambled eggs, another piled with sausage links, and another piled with bacon, as well as a glass of milk.
"Whoa; you think you got enough meat there?" asked Austin with a shocked look on his face.
"No; Rolf intends to have seconds as soon as the cooks have prepared a new serving." said Rolf.
"Anyway; as soon as I get my eighth badge, I will see you in the Kalos League." said Austin.
"I hope to battle you there, Jonny." said Tony. "Hope you don't back out of the competition."
"We'll be there, and one of us will win." said Nazz.
"Whatever." muttered Charlotte, who was sitting at a table nearby, making Nazz turned towards her.
"Hey, Charlotte; didn't see you there." said Nazz. Charlotte frowns at her in response. "So, you here to challenge the Snowbelle City Gym too?"
"Why else would I be here?" replied Charlotte.
"Hope you win." said Nazz, cheerfully.
"Ugh; your attitude is giving me a migraine." replied Charloette, making Nazz glare at her, who glares at her in response. The group continued to glare at their respective rivals before they went on with their business.
After the group finished eating, they exited the Pokemon Center; Kevin grabbed his bike, and the group began walking west of Snowbelle City and soon arrived at Route 21. Seeing there was no snow there, Kevin climbs on his bike and the group continued travelling; seeing their rivals got them fired up for training.
Meanwhile at the Snowbelle City Gym, Tony and Wulfric were standing on opposite ends of the arena while Carter, Austin, and Charlotte watched from the bleachers. An official step to the center of the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Wulfric the gym leader and Tony the challenger." said the official. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Tony and Wulfric each pull out a pokeball.
"Magcargo, go!" said Tony, throwing a pokeball and releasing a snail-like Pokemon with a body made of magma and a shell made of stone.
"Go, Abomasnow!" said Wulfric, throwing Abomasnow's pokeball and releasing it. "Abomasnow, use Wood Hammer!" Abomasnow raises up its right arm and smashes it onto Magcargo, damaging it; Abomasnow flinches in pain from Wood Hammer's recoil damage.
"Magcargo, Lava Plume!" said Tony. Magcargo creates an explosing of smog and fire around it, covering the entire arena and doing massive damage to Abomasnow.
"Abomasnow, Blizzard!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow opens its mouth and unleashes a blizzard from it, hitting Magcargo, but not doing much damage to it.
"Don't think you can freeze Magcargo with that move." said Tony. "My Magcargo has the Magma Armor ability, which prevents him from being frozen; okay, Magcargo, Flame Burst!" Magcargo fires a fireball out of his mouth, and it hits Abomasnow, knocking it out.
"Abomasnow is unable to battle. Magcargo wins the match." said the official.
"Great work, Magcargo." said Tony. Wulfric returns Abomasnow to its pokeball.
"You did well, Abomasnow." said Wulfric. He puts Abomasnow's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Cryogonal, go!" He throws Cryogonal's pokeball and releases it. "Cryogonal, Night Slash!" Cryogonal spins towards Magcargo while dark energy surrounds its body and it slashes Magcargo, damaging it.
"Magcargo, Ancient Power!" said Tony. Magcargo becomes surrounded by silver energy, and it forms into a ball; Magcargo launches it at Cryogonal and hit it, dealing super effective damage to it. Energy begins surging through Magcargo's body and all its stats increase. "Just so you know, Magcargo's holding a Rock Incense which powers up his rock type moves."
"Cryogonal, Night Slash!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal spins towards Magcargo and slashes it with its body, but not doing much damage than the previous Night Slash due to Magcargo's increased defense.
"Rock Slide!" said Tony. Magcargo glows white and several gray boulders appeared above Cryogonal; they fall on it, dealing super effective damage to it, and making it flinch. "Flame Burst!" Magcargo fires another fireball from his mouth, and it hits Cryogonal, knocking it out.
"Cryogonal is unable to battle. Magcargo wins the match." said the official.
"Two down, one to go." said Tony.
"Man, that Tony's one tough trainer." said Carter.
"I'll say." said Austin.
"Whatever." said Charlotte. Wulfric returns Cryogonal to its pokeball.
"You deserve a rest, Cryogonal." said Wulfric. He puts Cryogonal's pokeball away. "You've done an excellent job raising your Magcargo, Tony." Wulfric then pulls out another pokeball. "But you'll need to beat my final Pokemon to earn an Iceberg Badge; Avalugg, go!" He throws Avalugg's pokeball and releases it.
"Magcargo, Shell Smash!" said Tony. Magcargo becomes surrounded by blue energy, and they break off him, weakening its defense and special defense, but raising his attack, special attack, and speed.
"Avalugg, Crunch!" said Wulfric. Avalugg walks towards Magcargo and bites it, dealing damage, and weakening his defense.
"Magcargo, Lava Plume!" said Tony. Magcargo creates another explosion around itself and consuming Avalugg, dealing massive damage to it. Avalugg struggles to stay on its feet.
"Avalugg, Crunch!" said Wulfric. Avalugg bites Magcargo, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Magcargo is unable to battle. Avalugg wins the match." said the official.
"Excellent work, Avalugg." said Wulfric. Tony returns Magcargo to its pokeball; he puts it away and pulls out another pokeball.
"Exploud, go!" said Tony, throwing the pokeball and releasing a bipedal, blue Pokemon with yellow-tipped tubes coming out of its head. "Exploud, Fire Fang!" Exploud runs towards Avalugg while its mouth was covered in fire and it bites onto Avalugg, dealing super effective damage to it. Fire suddenly surrounds Avalugg's body.
"Avalugg, Blizzard!" said Wulfric. Avalugg unleashes a blizzard from its mouth, and it hits the Pokemon, now identified as an Exploud, damaging it. Avalugg flinches in pain from its burn, and it collapses.
"Avalugg is unable to battle. Exploud wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Tony." said the official.
"Way to go, Exploud." said Tony. Exploud raises its arms and lets out a loud yell.
"That was actually pretty impressive." said Austin.
"You can say that again." said Carter. Wulfric returns Avalugg to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Avalugg." said Wulfric. He puts Avalugg's pokeball away and walks to Tony and Exploud. "You've raised your Pokemon well, Tony." He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out an Iceberg Badge. "For your victory here, I reward you with the Iceberg Badge." Tony takes the Iceberg Badge, along with pokedollars.
"That's badge number eight." said Tony.
"So, now you have all the badges you need for the Kalos League?" asked Wulfric.
"You bet I do." replied Tony. Wulfric looks at the bleachers.
"Which of you will be facing me next?" asked Wulfric.
"I'll take you on next." said Austin, standing up.
"Very well; we will battle once my Pokemon are fully healed." said Wulfric.
"Don't keep me waiting too long." said Austin. Wulfric and Tony exit the gym while Austin steps onto the arena.
Back at Route 21, Jonny, Rolf, Kevin, and Nazz continue on their way to Victory Road.
"I can't wait to get started on our training." said Jonny with excitement.
"Yeah, man." said Kevin. "I want to be ready for that Carter dork at the Kalos League."
"I want to make sure I take down that Charlotte girl." said Nazz.
"Austin will feel Rolf's fury!" said Rolf.
"And I wanna teach that Tony guy some manners." said Jonny.
They all headed down the road until they finally reach the entrance to Victory Road.
"Here we are." said Kevin. Jonny looks at the map he had.
"And Santalune City is near here, so we can get to a Pokemon Center quick." said Jonny.
"That's a good idea, Jonny." said Nazz.
"Enough talk!" said Rolf. "Rolf wants to train now!"
"Yeah, let's do it!" said Kevin, making everyone else cheer in response. After that, they all enter Victory Road to get started on preparing for the Kalos League in one month.
