Snowbelle City Gym Battles (Part One)
The group entered the Snowbelle City Gym with the intention of challenging the gym leader and win their final badges which will allow them to compete in the Kalos League. The group soon arrived at the battle arena where steps lead down to it. The group looked around and saw on the farthest end of the arena, sitting on a throne made of ice on top of a platform was a large, muscular man with white hair, beard and mustache, wearing a blue winter jacket with red edges over a white tank top, black pants, and black and red boots with his arms and legs crossed, his eyes closed, and his head lowered.
"Hey; are you the gym leader here?" asked Kevin. The man lifts up his head and opens his eyes.
"I am; you may call me Wulfric." replied the man, now identified as Wulfric.
"My friends and I are here to challenge you to gym battles." replied Kevin. Wulfric stands up from the throne he was on and begins walking down the steps of the platform he was on.
"Very well, I will accept your challenge." said Wulfric. He soon stands on one end of the arena with his arms crossed. "Which of you will be challenging me first?"
"I will; my name's Jonny." said Jonny, giving Kevin Plank and running down to the arena and onto the opposite end of the arena Wulfric was one.
"Eager, are you?" asked Wulfric. "You will need more than eagerness if you want to have any chance of defeating me." An official steps onto the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Wulfric the gym leader and Jonny the challenger." said the official. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Jonny and Wulfric each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Ninjask!" said Jonny, throwing Ninjask's pokeball and releasing him.
"Abomasnow, go!" said Wulfric, throwing a pokeball and releasing a large Pokemon with white shaggy fur and green hands and feet. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Abomasnow, the Frosted Tree Pokemon and the evolved form of Snover. It lives a quiet life on mountains that are perpetually covered in snow. It hides itself by whipping up blizzards." said the pokedex. It suddenly began to hail in the arena.
"Where is this hail coming from?" asked Nazz.
"From Abomasnow's Snow Warning ability; it creates a hailstorm that lasts for a while." replied Wulfric. "Abomasnow, use Ice Shard!" Abomasnow launches shards of ice at Ninjask and hits him, dealing super effective damage to him.
"Ninjask, use Screech!" said Jonny. Ninjask lets out a loud screech and releases soundwaves onto Abomasnow, weakening its defense. Ninjask suddenly begins surging with energy. "Looks like Ninjask's speed boost ability activated." Hail fell onto Ninjask, damaging him.
"Abomasnow, Ice Beam!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow holds out its hands and fires light blue beams at Ninjask.
"Double Team!" said Jonny. Ninjask creates several copies of himself; Ice Beam hits one of them, but it was only a copy. "Now use Leech Life!" The real Ninjask flies at Abomasnow and drives his claws into it, dealing super effective damage and draining some of Abomasnow's energy, healing some of his wounds. Hail falls onto Ninjask, damaging him while he gains another speed boost from his Speed Boost ability.
"Abomasnow, Ice Beam!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow fires light blue beams at Ninjask, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage to him; he becomes encased in ice.
"Oh man, Ninjask is frozen." said Nazz.
"Ninjask, break free!" said Jonny.
"Abomasnow, Ice Punch!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow's right hand glows light blue and he swings it at the frozen Ninjask.
"Dodge it!" said Jonny. Ninjask suddenly breaks free of the ice and dodges Abomasnow's Ice Punch, surprising Wulfric. "Now use X-Scissor!" Ninjask's arms glowed light green and slashes Abomasnow in an X formation, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage. Hail falls onto Ninjask, hitting it while Speed Boost increases his speed.
"Abomasnow, Ice Punch!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow's hand glows light blue and it swings it at Ninjask.
"Harden!" said Jonny. Ninjask's body glows white and his body shines before Abomasnow punches him, dealing super effective damage. "Now use Leech Life!" Ninjask drives his claws onto Abomasnow's hand while it was still against him, dealing super effective damage and draining the last of Abomasnow's energy, making it fall to the ground, unconscious.
"Abomasnow is unable to battle; Ninjask wins the match." said the official.
"Way to go, Ninjask!" said Jonny.
"Man, that Abomasnow was tough." said Nazz. "And that was just Wulfric's first Pokemon."
"I wonder what other Pokemon he'll use." said Kevin. Wulfric returns Abomasnow to its pokeball.
"You did well, old friend." said Wulfric. He puts Abomasnow's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Cryogonal, go!" He throws the pokeball and releases a Pokemon that resembled a crystal, blue snowflake. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Cryogonal, the Crystallizing Pokemon. They are composed of ice crystals. They capture prey with chains of ice, freezing the prey at -148 degrees Fahrenheit." said the pokedex.
"You still want to battle, Ninjask?" asked Jonny. Ninjask nods in response. "Okay, Ninjask, use X-Scissor!" Ninjask's arms glowed light green and he slashes at Cryogonal in an X formation, hitting it.
"Ice Beam!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal fires light blue beam of energy at Ninjask, hitting it and dealing super effective damage; Ninjask falls to the ground, frozen.
"Ninjask, try to break free!" said Jonny. Hail hits Ninjask, damaging him.
"Flash Cannon!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal fires a silver beam of energy from its body and it hits Ninjask, hitting it, and knocking it out.
"Ninjask is unable to battle; Cryogonal wins the match." said the official.
"Excellent work, Cryogonal." said Wulfric.
"Man, that was brutal." said Kevin.
"Do not give up, Jonny." said Rolf. Jonny returns Ninjask to his pokeball.
"You were great, Ninjask." said Jonny. He puts Ninjask's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Clawitzer, go!" He throws Clawitzer's pokeball and releases him. "Clawitzer, Aura Sphere!" Clawitzer opens his larger pincer and forms a blue ball of energy in it, he launches it at Cryogonal and hits it, dealing massive damage due to ice Pokemon being weak against fighting type moves and Clawitzer's Mega Launcher ability powering up Aura Sphere.
"Cryogonal, Slash!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal spins towards Clawitzer while surrounded by a white light and rams into him, knocking him back. Hail falls onto Clawitzer, damaging him.
"Smack Down!" said Jonny. Clawitzer opens his larger pincer and forms a golden ball of energy in it; he fires it at Cryogonal, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it.
"Use Slash!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal spins towards Clawitzer and slashes him. The clouds from Abomasnow's Snow Warning ability disappears.
"Looks like Abomasnow's ability wore off." said Kevin.
"Clawitzer, Aura Sphere!" said Jonny. Clawitzer fires a blue ball of energy out of his large pincer and it hits Cryogonal, hitting it, and dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Cryogonal is unable to battle; Clawitzer wins the match!" said the official.
"Right on, Clawitzer!" said Jonny. Clawitzer raises his smaller pincer in response.
"You're doing great, Jonny!" said Kevin.
"Just one Pokemon left!" said Nazz. Wulfric returns Cryogonal to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Cryogonal." said Wulfric. He puts Cryogonal's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing well, Jonny; but you still have one more Pokemon to face. "Avalugg, come out!" He throws the pokeball and releases a massive Pokemon that looked like an upside down iceberg with four icy legs. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Avalugg, the Iceberg Pokemon. The way several Bergmite huddle on its back makes it look like an aircraft carrier made of ice." said the pokedex.
"Avalugg, Take Down!" said Wulfric. Avalugg charges at Clawitzer and rams him, knocking him to the ground. Avalugg flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down.
"Clawitzer, Aura Sphere!" said Jonny. Clawitzer forms a blue ball of energy from its large pincer and launches it at Avalugg, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it.
"Double Edge!" said Wulfric. Avalugg runs at Clawitzer and rams him harder than the previous attack, knocking him out. Avalugg flinches in pain from the recoil damage caused by Double Edge.
"Clawitzer is unable to battle; Avalugg wins the match." said the official.
"Well done, Avalugg." said Wulfric. Jonny returns Clawitzer to his pokeball.
"You did great, Clawitzer." said Jonny. He puts Clawitzer's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Charizard, go!" He throws Charizard's pokeball and releases him from it; Jonny then holds up his Mega Ring, shocking Wulfric. Strands of energy comes out of the Key Stone in Jonny's Mega Ring while strands of energy come out of the Charizardite Charizard was holding and both strands of energy connect with each other; Charizard begins to glow and he Mega Evolves into Mega Charizard. Bright sunlight fills the gym, causing Wulfric to shield his eyes with his arm.
"That's Mega Charizard's Drought ability." said Kevin. "Now Mega Charizard's fire attacks are stronger now."
"Mega Charizard, Flamethrower!" said Jonny. Mega Charizard fires a stream of fire out of his mouth and it hits Avalugg, dealing super effective damage. Avalugg becomes surrounded by fire.
"Avalugg's burned." said Nazz.
"Avalugg, Double Edge!" said Wulfric. Avalugg charges at Mega Charizard and rams him, but not doing much damage as the previous Double Edge due to burn weakening Avalugg's attack strength; Avalugg winces in pain from its burn and loses some stamina.
"Flame Burst!" said Jonny. Mega Charizard launches a fireball out of his mouth and it hits Avalugg, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Avalugg is unable to battle; Mega Charizard wins." said the official. "The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Jonny."
"We did it!" cheered Jonny. Mega Charizard roars in response and returns to his regular form. Jonny runs to him and hugs him. "I knew you can do it."
"Jonny won!" cheered Nazz.
"Rolf never doubted him." said Rolf.
"Way to go, man!" said Kevin. Wulfric returns Avalugg to its pokeball.
"You battled bravely, Avalugg." said Wulfric. He puts Avalugg's pokeball away and walks to Jonny. "You did an excellent job raising your Pokemon, Jonny."
"Thanks, Wulfric." said Jonny. Wulfric reaches into his pocket and pulls out a badge that resembled a snowflake with an iceberg in the middle.
"For your victory here in the Snowbelle gym, I reward you with the Iceberg Badge." said Wulfric; he gives Jonny the badge, along with pokedollars. Jonny looks at the Iceberg Badge with a stunned look on his face; it was soon replaced with a big smile.
"I did it! I won my eighth badge!" cheered Jonny, raising up the Iceberg Badge.
"Eighth badge? That means you now have all the badges you need to compete in the Kalos League." replied Wulfric.
"Right on." said Jonny. As Jonny took out his badge case and puts his Iceberg Badge into it, Wulfric looked at the rest of the group.
"Which of you will I be facing next?" asked Wulfric.
"Rolf will be facing you to a Pokemon battle." replied Rolf.
"Very well; as soon as I get my Pokemon healed, we will have our gym battle." said Wulfric. He then walks to the gym doors and exits the gym with Jonny following after to get his Pokemon treated at the Pokemon Center while Rolf walks down to the arena floor and waited for Wulfric to return so he can battle him.
Twenty minutes later, Wulfric and Jonny return to the gym; Wulfric goes to where he stood during his previous gym battle, while Jonny goes over to his friends.
"Are you ready for your gym battle, young man?" Wulfric asked Rolf.
"Rolf is ready, and Rolf will triumph." said Rolf. The gym official steps to the center of the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Wulfric the gym leader and Rolf the challenger." said the official. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Rolf and Wulfric each pull out a pokeball.
"Abomasnow, I choose you!" said Wulfric as he releases his Abomasnow.
"Beedrill, Rolf chooses you!" said Rolf as he releases his Beedrill. Hail suddenly starts to fall from above them.
"Not this hail again." said Kevin.
"Wish we had umbrellas." said Nazz.
"Beedrill, use Twineedle!" shouts Rolf. Beedrill flies at Abomasnow and jabs her arm needles into its body, doing super effective damage; Abomasnow started to look ill.
"Abomasnow's poisoned, dude!" said Kevin.
"Right on!" cheered Jonny.
"It's only fair." said Nazz. "If Beedrill has to take damage from hail, then Abomasnow should have to take damage from her poison."
"Abomasnow, use Blizzard!" shouts Wulfric. Abomasnow opens its mouth and releases a powerful blast of wind and snow that hits Beedrill. Both Pokemon take a bit more damage; Abomasnow from poison, and Beedrill from the hail.
"Beedrill, use Poison Jab!" said Rolf. Beedrill flies at Abomasnow and jabs her poison-coated, rear stinger into Abomasnow's chest, doing super effective damage.
"Abomasnow, use Icy Wind!" said Wulfric. Abomasnow releases a blast of wind from its mouth, hitting Beedrill; both Pokemon take more damage from the hail and poison again. A surge of green energy surges up from Beedrill.
"That's Beedrill's Swarm ability!" said Jonny.
"Now's your chance to take Abomasnow down, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Beedrill, use Fell Stinger!" said Rolf. Beedrill rushes towards Abomasnow and pierces it with one of her arm stingers, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out. Just then, more hail hits Beedrill, knocking her out as well.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle. It's a double knockout." said the official.
"Poor Beedrill." said Nazz.
"She'll be fine." said Kevin. "At least she took out that Abomasnow."
"That's true, I guess." said Nazz as she smiles a little. Both trainers return their respective Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"Rolf is proud of Beedrill." Rolf said to his Beedrill's pokeball.
"You fought well, old friend." said Wulfric. Both trainers put their pokeballs away and pull out different ones; Wulfric throws his, releasing his Cryogonal, and Rolf throws his, releasing his Blastoise.
"Cryogonal, use Solar Beam!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal starts gathering sunlight into its body.
"Blastoise, use Bite!" said Rolf. Blastoise runs over to Cryogonal and bites down on it, making it flinch, disrupting its energy absorbing.
"Clever move, young one." said Wulfric. "But that won't stop us! Cryogonal, use Freeze-Dry!" Cryoganal releases a blast of icy air that envelops Blastoise and does super effective damage to him.
"What the..." said Kevin. "Aren't water types able to handle ice type moves?"
"Normally, that's true; but Freeze-Dry is super effective against water type Pokemon." said Wulfric. Just then, Blastoise takes damage from the hail.
"Be careful, Rolf!" said Jonny.
"Rolf will stop this hail." said Rolf. "Blastoise, use Rain Dance!" Blastoise starts to dance around, making the hail stop, and rain start.
"Awesome!" said Nazz. "Not only did he stop the hail, but the rain will make Blastoise's water moves stronger.
"Cryoganal, hit Blastoise with another Freeze-Dry!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal hits Blastoise with another blast of icy wind, doing more super effective damage to him.
"Blastoise, use Water Pulse!" said Rolf. Blastoise hits Cryogonal with a pulsing ball of water that was powered up by the rain, doing damage to it; Cryogonal starts floating around all dizzily.
"Looks like it's confused, dude!" said Kevin.
"Cryogonal, use Freeze-Dry again!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal tries to do so, but in its confused state, it misfires, making it hurt itself.
"Blastoise, use Surf!" said Rolf. Blastoise uses his shell cannons to make a giant tidal wave that got bigger thanks to the rain, and he rides it towards Cryogonal, slamming into it, and knocking it out.
"Cryogonal is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner." said the official.
"Nice one, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Just one more to go, dude!" said Nazz. Wulfric returns his Cryogonal to its pokeball.
"You rest up for a while." said Wulfric. He then puts Cryogonal's pokeball away, then pulls out his last one and throws it, releasing his Avalugg.
"Blastoise, use Water Pulse!" said Rolf. Blastoise hits Avalugg with another pulsing ball of water.
"Don't count on Avalugg getting confused!" said Wulfric. "He has the Own Tempo ability; it prevents him from being confused, as well as having his attack power lowered by the Intimidate ability.
"That won't stop us!" said Rolf.
"Avalugg, use Take Down!" said Wulfric. Avalugg slides quickly across the ice at Blastoise and slams into him, doing enough damage to knock him out, as well as give itself recoil damage.
"Blastoise is unable to battle. Avalugg is the winner." said the official.
"Excellent work, Avalugg!" said Wulfric, making Avalugg roar in triumph.
"Those Freeze-Dries from Cryogonal must've done more damage than we thought." said Kevin.
"Rolf can still win this!" said Nazz. Rolf returns his Blastoise to his pokeball.
"Rolf is proud of Blastoise." said Rolf. He puts Blastoise's pokball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Delphox. "Delphox, use Sunny Day!" Delphox takes out her staff and shoots a ball of light out of it up towards the ceiling; the rain stops, and intense sunlight pours into the room.
"That'll power up Delphox's fire moves!" said Jonny.
"Avalugg, use Crunch!" said Wulfric. Avalugg moves at Delphox and bites down hard on her with teeth coated with dark energy, doing super effective damage.
"Delphox, use Flamethrower!" shouts Rolf. Delphox points her staff towards Avalugg and fires a powered-up stream of fire at it, doing super effective damage; parts of Avalugg's body catch on fire.
"Looks like Avalugg's burned, dude!" said Kevin.
"That'll weaken its attack power and hurt it now and then!' said Jonny.
"Avalugg, use Crunch again!" said Wulfric. Avalugg moves at Delphox and bites her again, not doing as much super effective damage thanks to its weakened attack power. A surge of red energy rises up from Delphox.
"That's Delphox's Blaze ability!" said Kevin.
"Rolf, now's your chance to win this!" said Nazz.
"Yes!" said Rolf. "Delphox, use Mystical Fire!" Delphox uses her staff to make a ring of fire in front of her, then shoots a powered-up stream of fire through it that hits Avalugg, doing a lot of super effective damage to it, and knocks it out.
"Avalugg is unable to battle. Delphox is the winner. The winner of the match is the challenger, Rolf!" said the official.
"Rolf is the victor!" cheered Rolf as he runs over to Delphox and hugs her.
"He did it!" cheered Nazz.
"That was awesome!" said Jonny.
"Way to go, Rolfie Boy!" said Kevin. Wulfric returns his Avalugg to its pokeball.
"You did well, Avalugg." said Wulfric. He puts Avalugg's pokeball away and walks over to Rolf who was returning his Delphox to her pokeball. "You did well, young trainer."
"Yes, thank you." said Rolf. Wulfric pulls an Iceberg Badge out of one of his pockets.
"As proof of your victory here, I present you with this Iceberg Badge." said Wulfric. He hands it, along with some pokedollars, to Rolf.
"Rolf has won his eighth badge!" cheered Rolf.
"You have all eight badges as well?" asked Wulfric.
"Yeah, and I'm next!" said Nazz as she steps forward.
"Very well." said Wulfric. "Once I get my Pokemon treated, I will return for our gym battle."
"Rolf will also get his Pokemon healed as well." said Rolf. He and Wulfric exit the gym while Nazz goes to her spot on the arena floor.
Jonny and Rolf have won their eighth and final badges. Will Nazz and Kevin be able to do the same? Wait and find out.
