Jillian left the Port Charles Hotel that afternoon and drove. None of her other relationships had taken this much work. His wife, and the blind faith that she had was going to be an obstacle. And obstacles had to be removed. But first, Ned had to realize that she wasn't going anywhere. He had led her on in London and now pretending that he hadn't and working against her at every turn needed to be dealt with. He needed to understand that being with her was what they both wanted and it wasn't just all in her head like he told her repeatedly. He needed to do more than tolerate her existence.

He drove back into town after a few days away with his daughters. It had been nice to visit Brook and he couldn't believe that she would be eleven years old that fall. It had been hard to say goodbye, but she would be in Port Charles for the holidays in a few short months. Kristen had fallen asleep on the long drive back to Port Charles and as he drove he hoped that the time alone had given Alexis the perspective she needed to know how she felt about what happened. Perspective about how they could deal with it together.

She took a risk and pulled into his driveway but he wasn't home. Tracking him down was getting tiresome and she recklessly drove back down the road. When she reached the main road, she reached for her cell phone, wanting to call him and let him know she was not going to take what he had started laying down, when she dropped her cell and it slid out of her grasp. She reached down to try and pick it up, losing sight of the road and she accelerated out of rage.

He slammed on the horn as he saw the red convertible coming straight at him and swerved to avoid it, but the two cars made contact and sent his off the road and into the closest tree.

She sat up at the sound of the horn and tried to avoid the collision, but it was too late, her car spun into the guardrail on the opposite side of the road. She came to and thought about leaving, but her car was too damaged to make a clean escape, so she got out of the car and walked towards the vehicle she hit. The last thing she needed was for US law enforcement to be all over her with her history. She hoped that whoever she hit was ok and would just let her pay for the damages, so she could move on. When she reached the driver's side door she realized it was Ned and his daughter. "What have I done?" She whispered knowing there was no way they'd believe this was an accident. "Ned?" She asked, but he was unresponsive. So she opened the door and felt for a pulse. She breathed a sigh of relief that he was alive. Then she walked over to the passenger side and saw that his daughter was awake. "Hang on Kristen, I'll get you out of there." She said as she undid the booster seat and lifted the little girl out of the car.

She walked her away from the accident scene and went to get her cell phone to call 911. "I want daddy." Kristen sobbed, terrified.

"I'm going to try and help your dad, stay right here."

She said as she went back over to Ned and unfastened his seatbelt. As she did he started to come to…"What? What happened?" He said barely conscious. "Kristen! He realized as he tried to move, but his foot was pinned."

"It's ok I got her out of the car and help is on its way."

"You." He said before losing consciousness again.

She heard the words over and over again as she drove. "It's Ned and Kristen. There's been an accident. You need to get to GH." Every worst case scenario played through her brain. She parked out front and raced into the ER. Audrey was at the nurse's station. "Where are they? Where are Ned and Kristen?"

"Alexis, I'm glad Monica got a hold of you."

"Just take me to my family." She said frantically. As she spotted Alan rounding the corner. "Alan how are they?" She said as she approached him.

"Kristen will be ok. She has a few minor cuts and some bruising. They want to keep her overnight for observation." He paused "And Ned–"

"Tell me he's going to be ok, Alan." She interrupted.

"Ned had some internal injuries, he's in surgery now."

"What happened? How did this happen?"

"There was a car accident. The police think he swerved to avoid colliding with the oncoming vehicle. Come on, I'll take you to Kristen, she's been asking for you." He said as they got to the room and she opened the door to see Jillian sitting with her daughter.

"Get away from her!" She shouted as she went to her little girl and Jillian backed away.

"Mommy!" Kristen exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around her mother's neck and Alexis sat on the bed and held her tight.

"Let me look at you." She pulled away and ran her hands through her daughter's hair and kissed the cut on her forehead. "I'm so glad you're ok." She said as she hugged her again."Can you tell me what happened?"

"I don't know mommy. Jillian tried to help me and daddy. She said the doctor is helping daddy get better."

"Of course you were there." She said disdainfully as she made eye contact with Jillian and realized she too had some minor cuts and scrapes. "Wait a minute, were you the other driver?" She flashed to the reports that Stefan had shown her earlier that day. "You forced him off the road? You're sick."

"Alexis, maybe you shouldn't do this in front of Kristen." Alan added. "Jillian, you should go." He didn't know the details, but he could tell there was more going on than an innocent accident and Jillian trying to do the right thing and sit with Kristen until Alexis arrived.

She took a deep breath and agreed with Alan as she laid down next to her daughter, wrapping her arms around her. "Can you come get me if there is any news about Ned?"

"Of course. The rest of the family will be here soon. Let someone know if you need anything."

"Just get her out of here Alan."

"This was an accident and I was just trying to help." Jillian said as started to follow Alan out of the room.

"Please just go." Alexis replied as she glared at her and then kissed the top of Kristen's head as Jillian left and the door closed. "You are such a brave little girl, you know that?"

"Daddy wouldn't wake up, mommy."

"Shhh. It's ok. Daddy will be ok." She reassured their daughter. "The doctors are going to make him all better. Now, why don't you tell me all about your visit with Brook. Daddy told me you had so much fun." She said trying to get her mind off of the accident and keep their daughter calm.

She held her daughter in her arms until she fell asleep as she waited for news about Ned. About an hour later, Monica knocked lightly on the door and entered the hospital room. "How is he?" She asked before Monica could say anything as she gently sat up, trying not to wake the little girl.

"The surgery went well. We were able to stop the bleeding. He'll be moved out of recovery into the ICU, shortly."

She kissed Kristen one more time before getting out of the bed and walking out into the hall, where she encountered the rest of his family. "So he's going to be ok?"

"He should make a full recovery."

"That's my grandson. I didn't have any doubts." Edward chimed in.

"Take me to see my son," Tracy demanded.

Alexis let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding as Chloe walked over to her and gave her a hug. "I want to be there when he wakes up." She said looking in the window at their little girl feeling torn about leaving her. "She's asleep–"

"Go. I'll sit with her." Chloe said.

"If she wakes up and gets confused–"

"I'll have someone come get you."

"Thanks, Chloe."

Monica walked Alexis to the ICU and Tracy followed them. When they arrived Jillian was standing outside lurking in the corridor. "Haven't you done enough? What are you still doing here?" Alexis interrogated.

"I wanted to make sure Ned would be ok."

"No, you wanted to make sure you were in the clear."

"It was an accident and you should be thanking me. I pulled your daughter out of that car."

"My daughter wouldn't have been in any danger if you weren't stalking my husband. And I think it's high time the PCPD found out what you've been up to."

"You need to leave, now." Tracy ordered. "My son just had major surgery and he doesn't need to wake up to this."

"I have every right to be here. I was in that accident, too." Jillian insisted, not letting Tracy intimidate her.

"You could have gotten him killed."

"You don't have the facts about what happened." She knew she was at fault, but that wasn't going to stop her from being bullied out of the hospital.

"Go, before I call hospital security." Tracy said as they wheeled Ned into the room and Alexis followed him inside. "Trust me, you don't want that on top of what's coming your way." She added quietly before following them into Ned's room.

"Thank you," Alexis said as she sat next to his bed and took his hand.

"You don't need to thank me. She was out of line." Tracy said as she stood by the window to his room and closed the blinds to block him from Jillian's view.

Alexis nodded and looked at Tracy, who she could tell was just as worried about him as she was. "Why don't I give you a few minutes." She kissed his hand and whispered, "I love you, and I'll be right back," she ran her hand gently down the side of his face before standing up and letting Tracy have the room.

Tracy stood at the end of his bed, looking at son. She knew he was going to recover, but her guilt over setting this in motion was eating away at her. Over the last few weeks, she also had come to realize she may have misjudged what he had with Alexis. She conceded that he may have finally met his match. "You know, that wife of yours, I think you may have finally found it. I know I was against your marriage to her from the onset, but I've seen enough now to realize what you have with her. You fight to hold onto that, and I'll do everything in my power to undo what I started. I know I don't say it often, but you are my son, and I do love you, Ned." It was rare that she let her emotions show, and she steeled herself and regained her composure before exiting back out into the hallway. She looked at Alexis, "Go sit with him. He needs you."

Alexis re entered the room, sat down on the stool next to his bed and took his hand again. She sat there quietly, holding his hand, when the baby started to kick. She brought his hand to her stomach and held it there for a moment. There was so much she needed to say, and she wasn't sure where to begin. "I got your letter. I always envied that about you, how you could find just the right words…" Her voice trailed as she thought about all the love letters, all the times he could express just how he felt. She continued, "we've certainly faced our share of hurdles lately, but what hasn't changed is how much I love you. I don't think that will ever or could ever change." She stopped as she noticed him stirring, "That's it, open your eyes, honey, I'm here. I'm right here."

He could hear her voice and he blinked as things started to come into focus. He saw her face, she was worried, he could tell, but she was also the only one he needed. "Hi." He whispered his voice hoarse.

"Hi," She smiled at him, relieved. "Do you remember what happened?" She asked as she brought her hand to his cheek.

"There was an accident. Kristen?" He started to panic.

"She's fine. She's safe, Chloe is with her. They just want to keep her overnight for observation, but she barely has a scratch on her. What else do you remember?" She wanted to know just how much danger that woman had put her family in.

"We were almost home, when a car swerved into our lane, it was accelerating. And then Jillian…" He remembered the crash, being stuck, seeing her standing over him.

"She was driving the other car." Alexis added, worried, "She's not going to stop, Ned."

"Lex, you have to know..." He needed her to understand this was all a twisted game and that he loved her.

"I do know." She stopped him and then paused and continued assuring him with what she did in fact know about him and his relationship with Jillian, "I believe you. I believe she set you up and we're not going to let her destroy this." She leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips.

Meanwhile, Jillian refused to leave and stood by the nurses station, hoping to overhear an update. She was surprised when two men, she didn't recognize, stepped off the elevator and approached her. One of whom flashed his badge.

"Jillian Trainor?"

"Yes."

"You're under arrest for reckless operation of a motor vehicle." Mac said.

"This is absurd"

"You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you." Taggert read her her rights as he placed her in handcuffs.

Tracy stood pleased with herself as she watched Jillian be arrested for causing the accident that landed her son in the hospital, knowing charges from the SEC would soon follow.

Jillian made eye contact with her before Mac and Taggert marched her onto the elevator. This was not the end, she had tried to do the right thing at the scene of that accident and Ned would back her up. She would get her revenge. Tracy's family would find out she tried to sabotage that deal and his hateful wife would need to be removed once and for all.
