Chapter 10: Practice Makes Perfect

"Princess, what are you doing?" Ex looked at his "mighty" wielder.

Princess sat cross-legged on the floor of her cell; her face twisted up in a form of concentration. She released a deep breath before opening her eyes with a confident glare that the sword hadn't seen in weeks. "I've finally perfected it, Ex!"

"Perfected what, exactly?"

She jumped to her feet, crossing her arms and declared loudly. "My sure-kill torture avoidance technique! Thanks to all of my training I'm certain that I won't be giving into Miss Alpha's torture today!" Princess smirked proudly, mentally patting herself on the back. "You must be curious, right?"

"Not really."

"THIS IS THE GAME PLAN!"

"So, my answer didn't matter, huh?"

"Using the mental image training technique I remember reading in Dragon Bowl, written by the famous Natsume Kafka, I've gone through countless mental simulations of battle to hone my mental fortitude! For someone like me, the Princess, Captain of the Legion's Third Imperial Army, such training is child's play! Thus, I've applied this technique to simulate potential tortures!"

"I see. That was the reason behind your silence all afternoon." Ex said.

"Yup! I've been training just for this moment!" Princess begins to recall her simulated tortures.

"Princess, 'tis time for torture." Mental Alpha informs as she steps into the cell. She raises her hand, materializing a tray of steaming hot pasta. "Today's torture shall be… Shrimp Fried Macaroni and Cheese!"

"THE QUEEN READS TRASHY ROMANCE NOVELS!"

"Chocolate covered toasted marshmallows!"

"MY BUTLER, FRANCIS, HIDES DIRTY MAGAZINES IN THE DISPLAY ARMORS!"

"Fluffy Ricotta Pancakes!"

"MY LITTLE SISTER LOVES SKIING!"

"Gum!"

"THE HOLY SWORD MACHINA IS HIDDEN IN THE FOUNTAIN OF DHARMA!"

"See! I've played through countless battles, so my tactics today should be flawless!"

"Didn't we just see a montage of instant submissions?"

Princess waved off his judgmental gaze. "Relax, Ex. Of course, in my mental battles I gave in right away. That was the whole point."

"So…you gave in on purpose?" Ex found that hard to believe.

"Heh! In each one of those simulations, I was able to curb my desire to give in! Now that I've been satisfied to the bone there's nothing Miss Alpha could throw at me to make me give in!"

"...Your desire to 'give in'? Well, I guess that's nice."

The blonde prisoner faltered for a moment. "E-eh? Ex, you don't sound like a very faithful companion! You can't seriously still think that I'm in-capable of fighting back?!" Her sword didn't reply, but the silence was all she needed to hear to know how he felt. Growling at his lack of trust, the Princess raised her fists to the air. "That's it! I swear that I won't give in today! If I give in, then I'll spend the next three chapters dressed as a clown! A-and I'll sleep upside down from the ceiling too!"

Ex just stared at her.

She continued to laugh hysterically, ignorant to the fact that Alpha had just walked into the cell. All the elf did was stand there with her arms crossed as she listened to the delusional prisoner. "I mean, I'm so confident I won't lose! With all of the preparations I've done, it's not even a reality anymore! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!"

HONK!

Princess stood still as a statue as 665 continued to honk her bright red nose. The once elegant royal was now dressed in a humiliating clown outfit with white and red make-up painted all over her face. 664 was unable to stop herself from laughing, and 666 just looked away to avoid causing the Princess any more humiliation.

Alpha just sighed at the ridiculousness she usually found herself surrounded by. At least she still got a good secret out of the whole ordeal…and the Princess' punishment was pretty funny.

She wouldn't admit this out loud.

Ex didn't say anything in an attempt to not make his wielder feel even more humiliated than she already did. However, his silence just made her embarrassment feel all the more real.

NOTE: A shorter chapter than normal, but I needed some time to think up some more situations. There might be a chapter focused on Cid in the near future (He won't be doing a torture, but you'll see). The Princess actually gets punished for not being able to keep her mouth shut. Yeah, she has a sister, but we never actually see her in the story. All that is known is that she's studying abroad in some foreign country.

Next chapter will either be about Beta or just a standard torture, we'll see.
