Chapter 11: Confrontation
When Vampiro learned from Scout that the girls had gone to battle their birth father, he was at first upset that the Plumber had let them go, but when he learned they had been given armor and weapons and Rook and Tetrax were with them, he took a deep breath. "I promised Holly that I'd never let that man get to her daughters," he said.
"With all due respect, Your Majesty, the girls decided they wanted to face him and put an end to his actions," Scout said. "They didn't want anyone else to be hurt because of him looking for them."
"But do they even know what they are going up against?" Snare-Oh asked, having arrived with his mother and brother when Apollo had contacted them and told them that he feared the girls had left to go face the monster they had been running from.
"I hope they do," Kuphulu said.
Melodica raised her head. "Vampiro, is there a ship available?" She asked.
"Yes," he said before seeing the look on her face and he smiled. "I was just thinking the same thing, my dear."
Phantasmo appeared. "Seems we all have the same idea," he said as Zeus arrived with Apollo.
"You didn't think we'd let you guys have all the fun, did you?" Apollo asked, a smile in his voice.
Vampiro stood up with Vamps and Whampire. "Alright, everyone. Let's go show that monster what family is really about," the king said.
Far in outer space, Rachel checked the computers and took a deep breath. Ghostfreak came up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "He'll reply soon," he said. "Your offer was too good to pass up."
"I'm beginning to wonder if there is more to me and Sasha that our birth father is interested in," she said. "Like if we have powers or something."
"What sort of powers would you want?" The ghostly alien asked.
Rachel fell into thought and after a minute, she smiled. "I think I'd like to be able to talk to animals," she said. "See what they can say and see what I could learn from them too."
Sasha smiled. "I'd want to control plants and grow a forest," she said.
"You've always had a green thumb," her sister said, smiling. "Remember that time when we were little, we got that 'dead' rose bush from that vendor who said it would never bloom again and you got it to bloom?"
"Oh, yeah, I remember that," she said. "Mom said I had the magic touch."
Rook smiled before looking at Rachel, feeling his heart pound. Tetrax noticed and smiled. "You've fallen for her," he said.
"Yes," the young Plumber said. "But I'll wait until she is eighteen to ask her out."
"Word has it that Whampire is going to wait until Sasha is eighteen to ask her if he can officially court her," the Petrosapien said. "She's his soulmate."
"I...have a feeling that Rachel is my soulmate, but I do not want to scare her."
Tetrax smiled. "Something tells me she might not mind that you're her soulmate," he said.
Just then, proximity sensors went off and a ship came into view. Ghostfreak's eyes widened as he recognized it. "That's King Vampiro's ship," he said.
Just as the call came in, Rachel answered it and saw the king, his sons, and her adoptive family. She took a deep breath before speaking. "If you're going to try and talk me and Sasha out of this, that's not going to work," she said. "Our birth father isn't going to stop until he either has what he wants or we stop him."
"Too many people have been hurt because of him," Sasha said. "He needs to be stopped and it's up to me and Rachel to do that."
Vampiro smiled. "Just like your mother," he said. "And we're not here to talk you out of this. We're here to join you."
"Your mother was like a sister to me," Melodica said. "I promised her I'd do anything for you two and I'm keeping my word."
Phantasmo nodded and placed a hand on her shoulder. "And we'll stop your father, girls," he said. "That's a promise."
"Holly did warn us that you two took after her," Zeus said, chuckling.
"They are her daughters after all," Apollo said before looking at the girls. "Your mom would be proud of you two today."
The girls smiled before the computer beeped, indicating an incoming message. Ghostfreak answered it and nodded after a moment. "He took the bait," he said.
"Then we better get there," Rachel said. "We better call ahead to the aliens on the planet and tell them what's going to happen."
"No worries. The Plumbers are working on that," Phantasmo said as he put in the message and it was received.
Rachel and Sasha looked at each other and nodded. "For Mom," the younger sister said. "And for our true family."
The older sister took a deep breath. "For Mom," she repeated. "And for our true family."
It wasn't long before they arrived and landed on the moon of the planet they had told the girls' birth father to meet them at. The inhabitants of the planet waved to them before hunkering down in to the bunkers for safety, which the sisters were glad for.
"No more innocents being hurt," Sasha said.
"And no more of him terrorizing them or us," Rachel said as they saw another ship come in.
And painted on the ship was a poison apple with a black rose around it.
Rachel got her weapons ready. "This is it," she said.
Sasha nodded and turned on the megaphone, taking a deep breath. "Come out and face us, monster!" She yelled, surprising most everyone with her shout.
"Or are you going to show your true colors like the coward you are?!" Rachel yelled out.
The hatch to the other ship opened and out stepped their father. Though they had not seen him in a long time, they recognized him instantly. The sisters headed outside, standing with their new family, who followed behind them.
"Ah, at last, my daughters have returned to me," their father said, smiling coldly.
"They will not join you, Stephen," Vampiro said angrily.
"Oh, but they will," the man said. "You see, they will for their mother."
The sisters looked at each other before looking at him. "Our mother died long ago," Rachel said.
"No, she's alive," Stephen insisted. "She's in my ship."
Sasha looked confused and Rachel gently grabbed her arm, making Sasha look at her. The older sister shook her head, to which the younger sister nodded and turned to their father. "Prove it," she said.
"Come aboard and see," he insisted.
Rachel looked at Zeus and lifted one hand, pretending to brush away some of her hair, but she tapped lightly on her head. Zeus realized what she was indicating and his eyes glowed once. "I can hear you, young one," he said to her telepathically.
"Does he have someone hostage on the ship?" She asked back telepathically.
Zeus looked and after a minute, he shook his head, but showed Rachel a mental image of the prison cells inside the ship. There were two of them and Rachel nodded before turning back to her father. "Take Apollo or Zeus into the ship so they can confirm your story," she said to him.
"They can't," Stephen said, looking a bit angry. "It must be you two."
"You're lying," Sasha said. "You always lie."
Suddenly, their father's ship exploded.
Cliffhanger! What happened? We shall see.
