Odwin stared intently at the black bunny in front of him as the gears in his mind turned. What is this creature? Is it dangerous? It looks cute, it that a trick? All these questions swirled through the boy's mind like a wild hurricane. Before he could act however, a stick extended from under the bunny as it floated in front of him. Staring at the scene, Odwin finally recognised what the creature was. A palisman.
The palisman staff dashed into Odwin's hand that wasn't holding a book as it spoke into his mind. 'We finally meet, my fated owner. I have followed the path of destiny and I knew here is where we would -AAAAHHHHHHHH!' before the bunny palisman could finish their sentence, Odwin threw the staff off the cliff with all his strength as if throwing a javelin at a beast with the intent to kill.
The staff pierced viciously through the air before abruptly coming to a halt mid air as it glowed a dark purple hue. Odwin blinked in confusion as he saw this before the staff started floating back towards him, getting faster and faster as it got closer. The boy could only have a single moment of panic before the palisman slammed into him at full force. "OW! What is wrong with you?!" The boy asked angrily, massaging his bruised forehead.
'What is wrong with YOU?!' Replied the bunny palisman telepathically as it floated in front of Odwin, fury dripping from their voice. 'I am offering you myself and you just throw me off a cliff?! A CLIFF?!'
Odwin rolled his eyes in exasperation. "Look, I don't believe in destiny." He replied pinching the bridge of his nose, causing the palisman to gasp. "I don't want anything to do with your fake fate shmestiny vision whatever crap. I have other stuff to worry about." He added glancing at where the contents of his bag had fallen.
'How rude and uneducated!' Exclaimed the palisman telepathically. 'I can't believe fate chose you of all people to be my owner.'
Odwin grumbled as he opened his book on a page labelled [Walk on walls] and drew the activation circle with his finger. "Well, to me, it just looks like you've been scammed." He said as his whole body started glowing a deep violet colour. Without waiting for a response, the boy walked off the tip of the cliff only to land on its underside. The boy quickly started walking down the mountain unaffected by the slope of the path threatening to send him tumbling.
'SCAMMED?! How dare you call the art of divination a scam?!' Exclaimed the palisman angrily as they floated next to Odwin walking down the mountain.
"Well, your "destiny" chose me as your witch." Replied Odwin with a dry smile. "Maybe it's trying to give you a hint that you SHOULDN'T believe in destiny."
The palisman paused. 'Or maybe it brought us together for me to educate you.' they said raising their nose into the air proudly. 'Yes, I see it now. I shall mentor you on the ways of the seer.' Odwin stared at the palisman as if staring at a splash of ratworm vomit in the middle of the street. Before the boy could refute the staff's words, the two heard the loud sound of an eagle's maddened cry roaring through air. The two immediately stopped in their tracks before looking upwards.
A giant four eyed and four winged eagle with a burnt face and eye flew above them, the same one that had caught and been injured by Odwin a while ago. The palisman-witch duo sweatdropped in unison at the sight, their minds screaming the very same thought: run. With only a moment's hesitation, the two started running and the giant eagle followed right after with a maddened gaze.
The two ran and ran, but they were no match for the beast in speed. Noticing this, Odwin tackled the palisman next to him and ducked under the monster's talons, letting them pass by above them harmlessly with a gust of a wind. "I think it's not gonna let us go." Muttered Odwin gasping for air.
'Of course not. Those things never let go of prey.' Added the palisman telepathically. 'We should be able to face it together.'
Odwin's eyes bulged. "WHAT?!" He exclaimed, causing the palisman to shudder at the sudden loudness. "I'm not fighting that thing!" He added gesturing towards the eagle.
'Yes, WE will. Together!' Exclaimed the palisman proudly as it stood tall in front of the danger, failing to notice the boy behind it already running away. When they finally noticed, the boy had already almost reached the ground as he carried several articles of clothing he picked off the ground. The palisman dashed through the air before stopping right next to the young Blight. 'What are you doing?! We can fight!'
"And look where that got me!" Snapped the green haired boy angrily. "Homeless and about to get eaten!" He said with a deep frown. "I'm just gonna go and kiss my psychotic mom's foot like I should've." He said as they heard another cry from the giant eagle. Odwin immediately turned around watched the bird like a hawk as it pierced through the air to reach him. Just as its talons were about to reach his squishy body, the boy fell onto his stomach immediately causing the bird to miss him once again. "A few more of those and I should be in the clear."
The bunny palisman's eyes widened. 'So you're running away?!' it exclaimed telepathically in anger. 'Have you no pride?! If I were you, I'd fight and if i was to die it would simply be fate!'
Odwin scoffed. "So hardcore." He said rolling his eyes sarcastically before his expression turned serious. "You don't know what it's like to die. The feeling of air leaving your body as you keep gasping for more. The pain from what killed you. The coldness seeping into your veins. Not something you wanna go through." The palisman went silent hearing those words, eyeing Odwin intently before the eagle sounded another cry.
Odwin prepared to dodge its talons once again, his eyes firmly locked onto the giant bird. However, the beast had other ideas. Instead of swooping in once again, it landed in front of the boy with an enraged glare. Odwin's eyes widened as the gears in his brain turned looking for an answer. Alas, the bird only wanted one thing and it was Odwin's life.
It moved faster than the boy could react. The beast's head rushed towards him ready to grab him, but it couldn't. A transparent purple barrier formed between them, blocking the beast's path and right behind the barrier stood the palisman firmly planted into the ground. Odwin paused as he watched the back of the palisman protecting him, touched by the sudden display of kindness before the beast attacked with its talons; demolishing the barrier in one attack. Before either the boy or the palisman could react, the beast immediately caught them in its deadly beak causing Odwin to drop the clothes in his hand but not his book.
Odwin screamed in fear before the beast flung them into the air above it and opened its mouth wide. Without any was to struggle, the duo were swallowed whole by the beast. But this was far from the end for our duo.
The palisman lodged both ends of its staff for into the throat of the monster, letting Odwin hold on to it, hanging away from any stomach acids and juices. Sadly, the same couldn't be said for Odwin's book that fell right into the beast's stomach. 'Alright. We should be safe, for now.' the palisman spoke softly. 'We need to-' before the palisman could finish their sentence, they heard the sound of a sob. The palisman almost flinched as he saw the sound was coming from Odwin whose eyes started to water. The palisman went silent as hesitation showed in their eyes.
"I can't do this anymore." Odwin's voice cracked as he spoke. "Why does this always happen to me? I just want a break." He continued with a pitiful sniff. "I died. I lost my parents, the love of my life, everything! Then I just HAD to be born again to some crazy witch I have to call mom! Now I have to take all her anger to defend my poor siblings while my so called dad does nothing but work! I can't even use magic properly! And now, I'm about to get digested." He added with a as tears and snot decorated his pitiful expression. "How is this fair?!"
The palisman paused upon hearing Odwin's words. 'It isn't.' they replied somberly. 'But that doesn't mean you should give up.'
"WHY?!" Snapped Odwin angrily, glaring at the palisman as tears fell down his face like waterfalls. "There's NOTHING good about my life!"
'Because that doesn't make a happiness any less worth fighting for!' exclaimed the palisman. 'I, too, lost many things and even the person I cared most about. I understand your woes and I believe this was the very reason destiny brought us together.' Odwin grumbled under his breath. The palisman could only make out the word schmestiny before the boy spoke.
"Okay. Let's do it." Odwin said with a hesitant nod. "But we need a plan. I'm not as reckless as you you crazy palisman." He added firmly.
The palisman telepathically nodded. 'My name is Shade.' they said calmly with a metaphorical smile.
"I'm Odwin. Call me Od." Replied the boy with a small, but genuine smile.
'That's strange.' Replied Shade cheerfully, causing the boy to raise a brow in confusion as the gears in his head started to turn. After a few seconds, the boy spoke glaring at the palisman.
"Was that a pun?" Shade didn't answer, yet Odwin could feel the palisman smiling gleefully in their mind. "Whatever. Here's the plan. We get out, lure it towards us and take out either its eyes or wings."
Shade raised a metaphorical brow. 'We're inside it now. We should be able to kill it from here.' they commented calmly.
"And risk falling into the stomach acid? No." Deadpanned Odwin. "We need a safe way out and for that we need it to cough us out." He added as he let one arm go of the staff and started very slowly drawing a large violet colored magic circle before holding his breath. Once the spell was complete, it immediately started falling apart before exploding into a mess of smoke and soot. The spell had failed successfully.
The beast's throat immediately started to push them out as it started to cough and after one or two mighty coughs, they were out of the eagle's throat covered in monster spit. "Ew ew ew ew ewww!" Exclaimed Odwin, cringing in disgust as he held his staff in hand. "I'm gonna need so many showers."
'Od! Focus!' Exclaimed the palisman in a serious tone, prompting Odwin to grip the staff more firmly as he stared at the beast before he felt a powerful energy from Shade pulsate eagerly. Feeling this power, Odwin took a deep breath before slowly twirling the staff in front of him, forming a magic circle with its power with several spins. Seeing this, the beast ran forwards with a roar. With each spin, the spell grew more complete and the beast got closer. The beast raised its talons into the air, ready to tear the boy into bits before Odwin finally stopped casting.
From the spell circle a mighty beam of energy blasted out towards the beast's neck like an arrow ready to pierce its prey. The beam blew through the beast's neck like butter, killing it in one massive blow. Odwin stared at his own handiwork with bulging eyes. A giant beast was decapitated and HE did it. It was hard for him to believe.
'Good work, Od.' Remarked Shade, bringing Odwin back to reality. The boy smiled at the compliment. He might've lost a home, but he's gained a friend. 'Uhh, you might wanna cast some kind of shield. It's about to rain.'
Odwin quickly noticed the cloudy sky above and hurried to make a shelter for himself with renewed vigor.

Meanwhile, at Blight Manor.
The Blights watched through the windows of their home as the boiling rain melted through the poor thing left outside their protected home. The three siblings wore worried and haunted expressions as they eyed the rain outsidez thinking about their eldest. "Oh quit acting like that." Said Odalia with a deep frown as she crossed her arms. "He'll come back any minute now."
"But what if he's hurt?" Asked Amity worriedly as she sat on a couch along with her siblings.
Odalia rolled her eyes. "Then we'll take him to a healer." She said nonchalantly before she heard the sound of footsteps entering the room. The Blights looked to find a disheveled brown haired man wearing purple goggles and a dirty coat. "Alador, finally. Are you done working on our company project?" She asked in an agitated tone before Alador nodded.
"Will need a few tweaks, but it's mostly ready." He said before noticing the strange tension in the air. He paused looking around for whatever he might've missed but found nothing out of the ordinary. "Did something happen?"
"Odwin left." Replied Edric worriedly, causing Alador's eyes to widen. It was only then did he notice his eldest son missing.
"In the boiling rain?!" He exclaimed in a panic."What happened?!" He demanded in a serious tone.
Emira opened her mouth to speak before Odalia quickly cut her off. "The boy had one of his little temper tantrums, nothing unusual." She said with a frown. "Go make something to find him, quickly."
"What could've made that boy angry enough to walk into boiling rain?" Muttered Alador with a frown before turning to his wife. "Why didn't anyone stop him?" He asked her, causing her face to twist in anger.
"Are you going to ask questions or are you going to find your son?" She asked narrowing her eyes at her husband. "Because I'm sure he's having a great time getting melted by boiling rain right now."
Odalia's words made the inventor avert his eyes before nodding and quickly heading down to his workshop; leaving Odalia alone with her children as her face grew red with anger.
"And now Alador's asking questions. Once that boy comes back, I make him regret pulling a stunt like this."
