Boots is having a wonderful day.
Wonderful is a big word for big girls. It means good, but better! And today deserves that word because Boots is very, very happy. She's having so much fun!
Boots has a lot of fun all the time, but today is very fun. Today is fun, but better!
She giggles. "Funderful day, Temp!" she squeals, patting her best friend between his head-feely-stick-things. One of them is bent. "Temp boo-boo," she adds.
"It is, princess, it is," hisses Temp. His voice is quiet — they are playing the quiet game, Boots is pretty sure of that. Except it's extra hard this time, because Temp is going very fast. It's a speedy quiet ride game!
But today really is wonderful. Ge-go took her sledding, and she went very fast then, too! But then they had to go home, so the fun would have to end — but it didn't! Because now Temp is here, and the rest of the Beeg Bugs, and Boots is going very fast again! The only thing missing is Tick, and then the day would be perfect.
Oh. Oh! And now they are in the big rock castle — Boots feels like a real princess, now, but she's a princess on a visit, because this is Luxa's castle, and, oh! There is Luxa! And there are more of the Und— Undeh— Undie— Under people! Temp is going less fast now, and there is—
"Ge-go!" Boots says. His face is all weird and frowny. She giggles. That will make him laugh, too! "I ride! Temp take Boots ride!"
Only the lines cutting Ge-go's face grow deeper, and his face goes even more frowny. He is looking at her very closely, his eyes are wide and glued to her. It looks funny, but then, it does not, not really.
"We're staying," he says.
And this should make the day all the more wonderful. And it does. Boots will stay with Temp, and she'll see bats and Dulcet and Tick again.
But Ge-go's face just keeps looking frowny.
