The Final Battle – Part 1
Finally reaching the southern reaches of the Financial District, the Avengers found that part of the Battery Park area had been covered up, that cover however had been destroyed by the closing of the gate. Standing there, clearly waiting for them was Venom, Carnage and Scream.
"So, you've come." Venom growled. "You must think you're so clever, somehow ending our plans so abruptly."
"Ah, but it's not over yet!" Carnage cackled.
Scream laughed too. "Oh yes, we're going to have so much fun destroying you, the master is far more powerful than you can ever imagine."
"We were just getting started, but we've got something...useful." Venom remarked with a dark grin. That was when the Avengers noticed it, behind the three Symbiotes was something strange. Some large, rather dark stone, pulsing with evil energy that gave all the Avengers a bad feeling.
"What on…?" Black Panther began.
"Looking flashy, Spider." Venom continued. "We will gladly face you...We hope your friends are up to the task. Scream, Carnage, deal with them, the spider is mine!"
Both of the other Symbiotes let out whooping sounds of delight as they lunged, managing to separate the Avengers between them, Spider-Boy standing tall, facing Venom, glaring. Meanwhile Speed Demon, Batgirl, Blue Bullet and Wasp found themselves standing face to face with Scream. Finally Black Panther, White Tiger, Iron-Man and Iron-Girl were face to face with Carnage.
Scream made her first move and it wasn't long before she was doing her damage, catching the four Avengers facing her off guard, if only because they hadn't expected her to still be this strong with the Anti-Symbiote Weapon destroying all the others, they expected it to at least weaken the three that remained. However, here they were, Scream attacking them with such fervour and dangerous moves, her tentacles flailing as she also utilized her deadly claws.
"This isn't good." Speed Demon muttered.
Batgirl shook her head. "Tell me about it. Urgh, how are we-?"
She was cut off as another attack came her way and she only just managed to narrowly dodge it.
Blue Bullet closed in and tried to attack only for Scream to spin around to counter and he was forced on the defensive.
"Urgh, yeah, definitely not good guys." He grumbled.
"There must be something we can do." Wasp considered.
Scream just laughed, listening to them.
"How pathetic, listen to you all, plotting and scheming futile little schemes, as if any of you stand a chance against us, any of us." She scoffed. "My master knew you'd try and destroy his plans, so he prepared for it, all this time the Symbiote Stone has absorbed the power needed while in the Upside-Down and now it's here and there's nothing you can do about it."
She broke down into her demented cackling again as they took this information in and began to worry. But then they realized, there was something they could try, but it would be extremely risky, especially since while the stone sounded like a weakness to exploit, they knew there was a catch, otherwise Scream wouldn't have revealed what it was so casually.
The Iron twins, Black Panther and White Tiger were not have any better luck against Carnage. He seemed even more insane than usual and was lashing out with his claws, throwing axes and other bladed weapons formed from his own body at them and even, at once point, tried to bite White Tiger's face off after pinning her down. It was only a blast from Iron-Girl that saved her.
"What is this, it's like...how are we supposed to beat that?" White Tiger gasped.
"I don't know." Iron-Girl remarked. "I don't like this, they should've be this strong…"
Carnage just laughed. "How little you know, weaklings. We are invincible, nothing any of you do can work. We all held back before, now we do what we want, such as killing you now!"
With that he launched another axe, this one heading right for Black Panther who narrowly dodged, but felt the sting as it cut along his side.
"Urg, this can't be, there must, there must be something." He hissed.
Iron-Man tried another blast but Carnage dodged and launched himself at him, forcing the teen to dodge before he could be lashed by the beasts claws.
"If don't work this out soon, we're gonna be in for a bad time. I thought we had a chance, but this is proving more difficult that I thought." He remarked.
"We'll need to figure something out, we can't just give up." Black Panther agreed.
The others agreed and readied themselves, preparing to face down Carnage again, no matter the cost.
Spider-Boy meanwhile faced down Venom, he knew he had the biggest challenge right now, but he had faith in the others, in his friends and trusted them to handle themselves against the other two monstrous Symbiotes. He just had to hold the line till then.
"Surely even you with your pretty new power knows you still don't stand a chance against us." Venom mocked. "All the lights in the world are no match for ultimate darkness."
Spider-Boy growled. "We'll soon see about that."
With that he launched himself at Venom, only to shocking miss.
"What, whoa!?" He gasped only to be warned by his Spider-Sense and dodge some shockingly lightning quick attacks from Venom's tentacles.
He didn't get away from all though and got a few lashes and rips in his suit for his troubles. But he quickly recovered and, after a few more dodges from Venom, he finally began to launch some heavy, powerful blows, using his new strength. Venom grunted and staggered back, but then laughed and straightened up.
"Barely a scratch." He mocked. "We have been absorbing a lot of power with all those we infected. Your Spider-Sense can sense us now yes, but thanks to your infection, we have our own!"
'That's how he dodged my attacks!' Spider-Boy realized. 'Not good, but wait, if he's getting power from those he infected, then that means…'
Venom laughed and continued. "We see your fear, little spider, you are learning. Rhino allows us to withstand your attacks, Scorpion has increased the speed of our tentacles and just wait to see what Vulture and Electro have done for us."
Spider-Boy grimaced, so this was going to be tougher than he imagined, he'd find a way however, he was not going to back down against Venom, no matter what.
Seeing a chance and realizing it might be their only one, Speed Demon signalled to the others, luckily she realized they had noticed it too and so, dodging more attacks from Scream, they got into position and readied themselves. Which meant preparing both their sonic blasters and flame attacks, but Batgirl had to have something else at the ready too. Scream looked around and scoffed.
"Whatever you weaklings are trying will not work, you cannot hope to beat us." She mocked them.
"We'll see about that." Speed Demon snapped. "Now!"
They began using their weapons, designed specifically to fight Symbiotes. Firing them off in sequence resulted in Scream getting caught up in repeated blows that made her shriek, writhe and also, just as Speed Demon hoped, began forcing the Symbiote off her body. Finally, their efforts paid off as Donna Diego was freed of the Symbiote and Batgirl quickly used her grapple to secure Donna to a nearby monument, out of the line of battle and ready for being taken into custody by the police. But as they turned to see what they could do with the remains of the Scream Symbiote, they saw it rapidly slithering along the ground and being absorbed into Venom.
