The night had finally ended, and as the first light of dawn crept over New Orleans, Brody and Lasalle parted ways. Their goodbyes were filled with laughter and promises to stay in touch, despite the miles that separated them.
"Take care, Brody," Lasalle said, his voice warm despite the fatigue. "Don't be a stranger."
"You too, Lasalle," Brody replied, giving him a quick hug. "Stay safe."
As she walked back to her hotel, Brody felt a mix of nostalgia and satisfaction. It had been a night to remember, and she was grateful for the chance to reconnect with her old friend.
The next morning, Brody woke up with a slight headache but a smile on her face. She got ready and decided to take a walk around the city, eager to soak in the atmosphere of New Orleans once more.
As she wandered through the French Quarter, she was pleasantly surprised to run into familiar faces. Dwayne Pride, her former team leader, was sitting at a café, enjoying a cup of coffee. Beside him were Sonja Percy and Sebastian Lund, deep in conversation.
"Pride! Sonja! Sebastian!" Brody called out, waving as she approached.
Pride looked up, his face breaking into a broad smile. "Brody! Long time no see."
Sonja stood up, giving Brody a warm hug. "It's so good to see you, Brody."
Sebastian, ever the shy one, gave a small wave. "Hey, Brody. How have you been?"
They spent the next hour catching up, reminiscing about old cases and sharing updates on their lives. The friendship was palpable, and Brody felt a deep sense of belonging with her former team.
As they chatted, a new figure approached the table. She was tall and confident, with an air of authority about her. Pride stood up to greet her.
"Brody, this is Tammy Gregorio," Pride said, introducing the newcomer. "She's been with us for a while now. Tammy, this is Meredith Brody."
Tammy extended her hand with a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you, Brody. I've heard a lot about you."
Brody shook her hand, feeling an instant connection. "Likewise, Tammy. It's great to meet you."
They all sat down, and the conversation flowed easily. Tammy shared some of the more recent adventures of the team, and Brody filled them in on her life since leaving New Orleans.
As the morning turned into afternoon, Brody felt a renewed sense of energy. Being with her old team, meeting Tammy, and sharing stories had lifted her spirits. It was as if no time had passed at all.
"Thanks for this, everyone," Brody said, her voice filled with gratitude. "It's been amazing catching up with all of you."
Pride nodded, his expression thoughtful. "You're always welcome here, Brody. Don't be a stranger."
Sonja and Sebastian echoed the sentiment, and Tammy added, "Next time, we'll have to take you out on a case. Show you that we still got it."
Brody laughed, the idea appealing to her. "I'd like that."
They parted ways with promises to stay in touch, and Brody continued her walk through the city. The warmth of the reunion stayed with her, a reminder of the bonds they had formed and the adventures they had shared.
