The file that reads "INCIDENT 0111121986" has a toilet and a lightning bolt scrawled on it.
Ruby: "Next is, like, incident 0111121986."
The picture on the file shows a dark-skinned man slumped down on a metal toilet in a prison cell.
Shannon: "We have quite a few incidents in our archives where the victim frankly deserved it. This one is an excellent example…"
Zoom in.
We open to what seems to be a hallway in a prison. The camera glides past the bars of the cells, with various men of all shapes and sizes locked behind them.
Date of Incident: 12 November, 1986
Location of Incident: Folsom State Prison, Folsom, California
Shannon: (Narrating) "Opening in 1880, Folsom State Prison is California's second-oldest prison and the first in the country to have electricity. A wide diversity of criminals are locked up here, from simple robbers to the worst of killers. And James "Little E" Johnson leans towards the latter."
The camera stops in front of one of the cells, revealing a dark-skinned man wearing an orange prison uniform.
Little E: "YOU!"
It is revealed Little E is ranting at the guard watching over his cell, who remains unintimidated, slapping his baton on his hand, even as Little E rants at him.
Little E: "You're probably the ugliest cop I've ever seen in ma life, haha! Me and ma bois would have roasted yo ass on the streets! Anyone could be prettier than you."
Shannon: (Narrating) "Little E here is quite the nasty piece of work - he's on death row for seven counts of murder."
Little E: "Ya hear me?!"
Shannon: (Narrating) "He was seven days away from his scheduled execution in the electric chair."
The camera continues drifting down the prison's hallway.
Little E: "Wassup with dat dog of yours, man? I've been kinda lonely in here. What's been goin down?"
A new shot shows a pale man in a suit proceeding down a different hallway in the prison.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Little E abused everyone in his path, and that included his public defender, Frank Stone."
Frank stops at a visitor booth where Little E, handcuffs on, is on the other side and sits down. Both pick up their phones.
Shannon: (Narrating) "So when Frank swung by with some good news, he wasn't happy."
Frank: "(sigh) Look, I'm here to tell you your sentence has been commuted to life without parole, you got that? You scum."
Frank sets the phone down and storms off.
Little E: "Hey come on man! Bro, where ya goin'? That's good news! Where you at, man?"
Cut back to Little E in his cell, sitting on his cell's metal toilet. A small TV is sitting on a shelf nearby, The Oprah Winfrey Show playing.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Little E decided to celebrate his luck by indulging in his favourite cell activity - watching Oprah while sitting on his state-issued full metal crapper."
A shot of the TV's power cord reveals the plastic is somewhat frayed about halfway along the cord.
Shannon: (Narrating) "But he will soon learn that karma is less fickle than the law."
The TV cuts to static. Frustrated, Little E grabs it and begins shaking it to restore the signal, to no avail.
Little E: "Son of a…"
Little E grabs the cord and begins feeling around it.
Shannon: (Narrating) "When Little E grabbed the frayed wire to fix his TV reception, he accidentally turned his throne…"
Little E's hand contacts the frayed section of cord, and suddenly a buzzing sound blares as he spasms on the toilet.
Shannon: (Narrating) "...into an electric chair. Ruby, analysis?"
In the office, Ruby is holding a quick diagram she has jotted down, showing Little E (as a stickman) and a yellow arrow passing through his body and the toilet.
Ruby: "It looks like when Little E here sat on his metal throne he unwittingly set himself up to, like, conduct as much electricity through his body as possible."
One of Shannon's CGI shots shows the electricity passing through Little E's heart and sending it into cardiac arrhythmia.
Ruby: "Something like a hundred milliamps sent through the heart is enough to knock it out of rhythm and cause cardiac arrhythmia that can prove, like, fatal."
Replay the whole scene of Little E electrocuting himself.
Shannon: (Narrating) "A 110-volt current passing through Little E's skin and grounding into the toilet seat was more than enough to fry Little E, the hot juice stopping his heart cold."
Little E is now slumped lifeless against the wall of his cell.
Shannon: (Narrating) "Bottom line? Karma's a bitch. And when she comes at you, there's no escape."
WAY TO DIE #097
OPRAH WINFRIED
Return to the Sharuby couple in their office.
Ruby: "Hmph. Good riddance. If he was still alive he'd be, like, wasting taxpayer money."
Shannon: "Couldn't have said it better myself. Next file please - your turn to narrate."
Ruby nods, closing the file and marking it before wheeling over to get the next one.
