Death was getting restless because he knew he was getting out of time as he watched once again how Anthony Bridgerton continued that cycle of love and hatred. As days passed in Aubrey Hall, death witnessed how once again he won the hearts of Kathani and her parents, and like always, soon that night came.
Death once again watched from afar as Anthony hosted the Hearts and Flowers Ball. Kathani was looking radiant in a dark red gown as she danced with Anthony all night. Finally, the music stopped as Anthony Bridgerton clinked his glass to address his audience. "I want to deeply thank everyone who joined me for this special night. I want to thank especially Mr. and Mrs. Iyer for travelling all the way from India to join us today on this special occasion."
He then finally turned to stare at Kathani at his side, and even after all this time, Death could see how immensely Anthony still loves her, and Kathani too loves him, even if she still does not realise how deeply she loves him. "Kathani, my love, the light of my life, I have loved you since the moment I saw you, and trust me when I say that my love for you grows with every breath I take. So Kathani Iyer, will you make me the luckiest man on this earth and marry me?" Everyone witnesses Lord Bridgerton bend down on his knees and present his beloved with a beautiful ring. Kathani was crying in happiness as she looked up to see the beaming faces of her parents and Sophia, who was recording this moment with teary eyes. Finally, she excitedly nods her head as she yells out in joy. "Yes! Yes, I will marry you!"
She all but jumped into Anthony's arms as they kissed each other passionately while everyone cheered for them. Death watched as Anthony once again slipped the ring to its rightful owner, and he knew soon those empty wrists would be covered with bangles. The same bangles that started everything all those years ago.
(Flashback)
Bangle dropped, A bride threw cruel accusations at her sister, the same sister who sacrificed her whole life and her one true love for the bride's happiness. Kathani Sharma was shunned by her family, and everyone around her disgraced her. In that moment, she decided to run away from the pain.
Death appeared in the green field as he felt the call of another soul. It was raining heavily. He watched it all unfold as two horses galloped fast towards him. The rider of the first horse recklessly tried to jump over the hedge. A petrified voice tried to stop that rider as she was thrown from her horse. "Kate!" Nothing shocks death, but in that moment, as Anthony Bridgerton rushed towards the women, he was shocked to see the same fear and devastation on his face that Death had witnessed on the day of Edmund Bridgerton's death.
"No! No! Somebody help me!" He screamed painfully, and Death was frozen on spot because he was unable to extract Kathani's soul because he was too worried for this man, who was suffering another great loss. Suddenly, he felt air shift around him, and he noticed someone standing beside him. "Curse? What are you doing here?" Curse gave him a knowing look while focusing on what was happening in front of them. "I am here to do my job."
Death was confused because what job could Curse have in this place? By this time, Daphne Bridgerton has arrived, and both Death and Curse noticed her devastation when she saw her brother crying over Kathani Sharma's lifeless body. She was admitting to comforting her brother when suddenly Anthony Bridgerton stood up and carried Kathani's body towards the carriage. "And so it begins." Curse says as she began to follow the carriage, but not before using her powers to make the weather worse so that Daphne Bridgerton would not follow them easily.
Feeling strange uneasiness Death follows after carriage and Curse, and despite the weather, they soon arrived at the chapel.. Death joined Curse as Anthony carried Kathani's body inside the chapel, and soon everyone was shocked while a few people cried out for the dead woman.
Death saw a dog escape his handler as he rushed towards the dead woman, and Anthony cried harder as he laid Kathani down on the alter so that dog could cry over its owner. Like other spectators, Death and Curse stood still as they watched man and dog weeping over the woman they both loved dearly. Suddenly, a woman's wail was heard as two women tried to get closer. "Didi! Kate!"
"No!" Anthony Bridgerton roared as he lifted his face, and everyone gasped when they witnessed anger and revulsion in his eyes. "You do not deserve to cry for her! She took her life because you asked her to go away! Because you shunned her from her family, and for what? For making sacrifices for your happiness?! For giving up her dreams for your dreams! She is gone because you made her feel her existence was worthless when it was you who never deserved her love!" Mary Sharma and Edwina Sharma cried as they realised how true these words were, but now it's too late as Kate lied peacefully, still in Anthony's arms.
"Oh Anthony! I am so sorry, my son!" Violet Bridgerton and her family tried to get closer, but Anthony glared at them with so much hate that they were halted in their tracks. "You are sorry for what, mother? Did I disappoint you again? Or are you going to stop me from mourning the woman I love like you stopped me from mourning my father?" Violet shook her head as Benedict tried to get closer. "Brother please." "Oh, are you all going to mock me?! After all, that's all you lot always did—mock me behind my back while I worked tirelessly to take care of you! None of you saw what I was going through! You call yourself my family, and yet, except for Daphne, none of you saw how much I love Kate!"
"Lord Bridgerton, I know you are devastated, but please let us help you out." Lady Danbury began tearfully as the Queen stepped forward. "We are all sorry for your loss, but please, Lord Bridgerton, let us help you remove Miss Sharma's body."
"No one will touch her! You all dare to feel sorry for her when your words forced her to take her life! Do you people have any idea the agony she must have felt when she decided to end her life? She was happy when she died in my arms because now no one could hurt her anymore! You all will feel sorry for a few days and move on with your lives, but I wish you all to live in our agony for eternity! I curse you to die, but death will never claim your dark soul! I wish to have the power to punish you for eternity! I curse you all to rot in hell for making my Kate take her life, who was innocent and pure! I curse you! I curse you all! To burn in hell!"
Death was shivering like others as they all felt Anthony's rage. Curse, on the other hand, smiled as they watched Anthony scream to the heavens as he cursed everyone and then clutched his heart before falling beside his beloved Kate. The dog cried harder as it tried to move the man with his paws, and soon Bridgerton cried in shock as they witnessed Anthony Bridgerton leaving this world with a broken heart.
"No! No! This could not happen! I was not here to take his soul!" Death shouted as Curse raised her hand, and a purplish glow emitted from her hand. "You are right, Death; it was I who was sent here to take his soul."
Death was horrified as he realised what she meant. "You are here to take his soul? So it means." "Anthony Bridgerton is destined to become the monster." Curse confirms his fear, and then with her power, she produces great lightning, and in a blink of an eye, the entire chapel was lit in flame, not ordinary flame; it was burned with hellfire, just like Anthony Bridgerton cursed all of them before his dying breath.
"No! Curse stop! You cannot turn him into a monster!" Death pleaded as everyone around them burned to death. In his desperation, Death used his powers to stop time, and Curse was surprised when everything stilled. She turned to glare at Death, who was heaving as if he were in pain, as he stared at the charred remains of Anthony, Kathani. While her dog was the only one who seemed to survive the fire, Death walked towards it and picked it up. "It's okay, my friend; I am going to fix this." Death assured the creature, which cried and nuzzled itself closer to him.
Death finally turned to face Curse as he inquired. "What kind of monster is Anthony Bridgerton destined to become? And what kind of curse have you planned for the people of Mayfair?"
Curse sighed as she began. "These people are filled with greed, looking down upon people beneath them; most of them care about their prestige and power while they have nothing to do with human emotions. Anthony and Kate did their duties to their families and the way society wanted them, and when they dared to love the same society, fears stopped them from accepting their feelings. Look how that ends. Poor Kathani Sharma was innocent, and these people forced her to take her life with their false accusations, and in doing so, they took Anthony Bridgerton's life too. Now everything Anthony Bridgerton says before his death with a broken heart will become a curse for these people. These people will live in agony frozen in their time and die because of Anthony Bridgerton, who will punish them till eternity as their souls burn in hell."
Death gave Curse a long, hard look as he asked. "So Anthony will become a monster, and these people will suffer till the end of time? Curse, this punishment is too severe, and Anthony's heart is filled with so much love that this punishment will darken his soul until nothing remains. You cannot use a grieving man's last words and condemn him and everyone else for eternity!"
Curse, however, was not in the mood to reason with him, as she plainly tells him. "It's not my fault he cursed these people like this; I am here to do my job like you, and with Kathani Sharma gone, there is no hope for Anthony Bridgerton or these people."
But Death was not listening because he finally found a loophole to save Anthony's soul and the fate of these people. Curse was startled as Death suddenly summoned his wife, and in the next second, Birth was standing in front of them. "Death? Curse? What is going on?"
"I will explain, but first, Curse I want to take over this one job from you. Give me Anthony Bridgerton's soul and your curse. I know a way to not only save these people from this curse but to save Anthony Bridgerton's soul too."
Birth and Curse both stared at Death as if he had gone insane, but for the first time, Death pleaded with someone. "Please, Curse, I know this boy, I know his heart, and I know what he is capable of; please let me save him."
Curse was hesitant, but finally she agreed as she warned him. "Alright, Death, you can have his soul and curse, but remember, I can only stall for six lifetimes; if you fail in your attempt, then I will take his soul and curse back, and it will last for eternity." Curse then used her power and gave Anthony Bridgerton's soul and his curse to Death. Once both were in his possession, Death turned to Birth as he pointed at the charred remains of Kathani Sharma. "Her soul is still there; I want you to have it."
Birth was a surprise, but she used her powers, and a golden glow erupts from her hand as she extracts Kathani's soul from her ashes. "It's done, but what are you going to do?"
At that moment, Death smiles as he uses his powers to unfreeze the time, as he tells them. "Now I am going to make an offer to Anthony Bridgerton, an offer that he could never refuse."
(End of Flashback)
The engagement celebration was in full swing, but Death noticed how Kavari Iyer began to cry, and soon she was taken outside by her husband and daughter. "Amma, are you not happy for me?" Kathani asks, and Kavari shakes her head as she caresses her daughter's face. "It's nothing; I am truly happy for you, but I am also sad that you will live so far away from us."
"Oh Amma." Kathani cried as Milan wiped his own tears. "Please do not be sad; daughters always leave their parents home to build their own home. It's how this world works."
"I hate this! I cannot let my daughter go to live so far away!" Kavari cried harder as she held Kathani in her arms. "Who says you have to let her go?" They all stopped crying as Anthony walked towards them and reached out to wipe Kathani and her mother's tears away. "Do you really think I am that heartless that I will tear this lovely family apart? And sir, where is it written that daughters should leave their home after marriage? In fact, if you deem me worthy of your family and have a place in your home, Newton and I wish to move to India with you all."
Kathani gasped in shock, while Kavari could not believe her ears. "Is it true? Will you move with us?!" "Of course, Amma, you both are not only Kathani's family but mine too, and I am sure Kathani will want to stay closer to you, and I promise I will take care of you all like a son of your family."
"Oh beta! How can you win our hearts all over again?" Milan weeps with joy as he and Kavari embrace Anthony, soon to become the son of their family. Once they were gone, Anthony turned to Kathani, who leapt into his arms and kissed him with everything she had. "I cannot thank you enough! You made me the happiest girl today!" Anthony smiled as he held her in his embrace. "Your happiness is all I ever wanted, and I promise you, Kathani, I will give you and your family so much happiness that you will never know any sorrow."
Death sighed because he knew Anthony would do anything to keep his word, but if he succeeded this time, then Death would lose him to darkness forever. He then disappeared from Aubrey Hall and arrived at the hotel suite. He noticed the descendant of Daphne Bridgerton sleeping peacefully. Death then used his powers, and an old leather-bound journal flew from the suitcase as it landed straight on Alfie's chest.
Alfie woke up startled and found himself in an empty room, but he was sure something had hit him. He opened the lamp and found his ancestor Daphne's old journal on top of him. Feeling confused, he sat straight and turned it around, only to see something written on it in unfamiliar writing.
Time is running out; go and stop Anthony Bridgerton before he take away Kathani again.
