Chapter 16: With You Under the Stars
From: Stiles
Where are we going btw?
From: Derek
It's a surprise
From: Stiles
Don't be like that Sourwolf. I need some idea on how to dress up!
From: Derek
Doesn't matter. Wear anything you want.
From: Stiles
Yeah? How about a speedo and a sombrero hat?
From: Derek
Sure. If that's what you prefer.
From: Stiles
I hate you
From: Derek
I don't need to hear your heartbeat to know that you're lying ;)
From: Derek
Just wear anything you're comfortable in.
From: Stiles
Okay. See ya soon XOXO
Stiles thanked his lucky stars that he already had enough fashion advice to last him a lifetime from one strawberry-blonde Banshee. On the day the pack went to the club, Lydia turned his closet upside down while giving him a two-hour long lecture on how to dress properly to "show off that cute butt."
He had enough faith on his dressing sense now to last him on a date with Derek. Stiles had no desire to put himself through another never-ending session on why half of his plaids should be burned with the ashes scattered down the drain.
Yeah, Lydia could go hard on the 'mean-girl persona' when she wants to.
Besides, the Spark knew that his Sourwolf liked him enough to not really care how he dressed. But he still wanted to look good since it's his first date (and Derek's too, which is the craziest shit ever!).
He grabbed a pair of khaki chinos, a deep blue full-sleeved sweater and a pair of brown boots. He told the Sheriff that he would be over at the McCall's for dinner. The older Stilinski just shrugged in response since it was just another Saturday for his son.
Stiles felt guilty lying to his dad like that. He was still working up the courage to come clean to him about all the supernatural stuff. Now was not the time to break the 'oh by the way, I have a boyfriend who is five years older than me who also happens to be a werewolf.'
The clock neared 6:50 PM when the Spark was pacing in his room. He was all dressed up and had checked his appearance in the mirror for over six times now. He heard a car pull over at 6:56 PM. He quickly checked his pocket for phone and wallet before rushing down the stairs.
A knock sounded at the door before he reached there to open it. Stiles stood in front of the closed door, took a deep breath before opening it. He froze as soon as his eyes landed on the person on the other side.
Derek looked the most put together since Stiles had met him. His beard was neatly trimmed, his hair was a little styled but the Spark couldn't tell whether the Alpha had put any products in his black locks.
He was wearing a white V-neck shirt with a navy blue suit jacket and a pair of black jeans. Stiles held his breath as he took in the appearance of the perfection standing right in front of him.
He lost his sense of time as he felt the older man move into his personal space.
Derek whispered right by his ear, "You look great." That broke the younger man out of his stupor as he blinked a few times. He felt his cheeks get a little warmer before offering his date a brilliant smile. "Right back at ya. Also, we kinda match." He gestured to his blue sweater and Derek's navy blue jacket.
The Alpha just smiled back before holding out a small bouquet. Stiles didn't even notice that Derek was holding something all this time. His eyes widened a little before he moved and took the flowers. It was a beautiful collection of yellow tulips, carnations and some wildflowers. The flowers gave off a mild, sweet scent that calmed his nerves. He could see Derek fidget a little as he took in the Spark's reaction.
"I wanted to do this right. It's my first time going out with someone. Even if I end up making mistakes, I'm glad that I get to make them with you." Stiles couldn't help the small laugh of delight that escaped him.
"Well, so far.. you have been fabulous." Feeling brave, Stiles stepped forward and pecked Derek on the cheek. The Alpha responded with one of his rare genuine smiles. "Let me just put these in water, then we can go."
Stiles rushed into the house and went to the kitchen. After he was done finding an empty bottle and filling it up with water before putting the flowers inside, he locked the front door and ran down the porch steps.
Derek was waiting for him by the passenger side door and held it open for the Spark to slip in. "Careful, Sourwolf. A guy could get used to this kind of treatment."
"I wouldn't mind that." Derek winked at him before shutting the door and going around the car to get into the driver's seat. The car pulled out of the driveway and was on the road while the two men got comfortable in each other's presence.
"Now are you gonna tell me where we're going?" Stiles couldn't bear the suspense any longer. The Alpha just chuckled at his eagerness. "Patience, honey. You know what they say, good things come to those who wait."
"Alright, snookums. Have it your way." Derek scrunched his nose at the nickname. "Snookums?"
"Hey, I always wanted to use cute pet names with my partner but never got the chance. Now that I finally have it, I'm gonna try out every endearment term that existed throughout time." His eyes nearly sparkled when he iterated his wish.
"It sounds almost scary the way you say it." Derek frowned a little but his tone still sounded amused.
"No need to be scared, Beau. I won't bite. That's your department." Derek chuckled at that which made Stiles all giddy with happiness. Seemed like his plan to make Derek laugh as much as possible was going great so far.
"Didn't Cora say anything at seeing you so dressed up?" Derek shook his head.
"Lucky for me, she wasn't home. She went for a walk with Isaac. It's good if they get along since we're all in the same pack. Besides, I wouldn't want her to be out alone at this time anyway."
Stiles held his tongue about the blonde Beta's intentions towards the Alpha's little sister. He trusted Isaac to treat her with respect and he knew for a fact that the youngest Hale would kick his ass if he made a wrong move.
But he was still worried about Derek's reaction. Isaac may be a great guy, but it was still Derek's sister. It was hard to predict which way the revelation would go.
The Camaro was slowing down a little as Derek made a turn. Stiles' eyes sparkled in delight as he saw where they were pulling up. They were in the outskirts of Beacon Hills, so there was less risk of running into anyone from school. And Stiles didn't think it's really matter if someone spots them together, as long as it's not someone who can tattletale to the Sheriff.
"Prepare to get your ass kicked, lovebug." Stiles gloated as he pulled off the seatbelt and opened the passenger side door. Derek just shook his head at the ridiculous name before getting out from his side.
People were milling all around them – couples, families and kids. Stiles moved to Derek's side and werewolf immediately took his hand in his larger one before tugging him towards the arcades.
They were not the only ones on a date at the arcade games since they could see tons of other couples playing games with each other. Stiles just grinned before pulling Derek towards a corner.
"I gotta check something first." He almost skipped to the Defender game and finding it empty, moved to check the high scores real quick. Derek saw in amusement as the Spark fist-pumped in the air after a few seconds. "Yes! Still unbeatable." He pointed to the screen where the top score spot showed the letters MGS.
"What's your middle name?" Derek asked with a small frown after spotting the G.
"It's Genim," Stiles said with a shrug. He never liked telling people his full name, hence plucking Stiles from his last name since he was four. But Derek already saw his first name, and the way he pronounced it.. Let's just say Stiles sometimes had the urge to record the Alpha saying his name. For research purpose..
They moved to the other machines and found some empty spots to start playing. Both of them were competitive to a fault, but that didn't stop them from having fun. Stiles felt his heart almost burst at hearing Derek laugh so freely.
The Alpha destroyed him in racing games and Ms. Pac Man. Stiles just gaped at the werewolf after seeing his score. "How are you so good at this?"
"Despite popular belief, it's not my first time at an arcade." Derek smirked before finishing the game and typing in his initials as he snagged the top spot.
"What does the S stand for?" Stiles asked as they moved to play Pong. "My middle name's Samael."
"Oh yeah, I remember seeing Derek S. Hale in your file." Derek scrunched up his face for a moment but didn't miss the shot. "Ah, that thing. I wonder how the Sheriff would react at knowing his son is dating someone who was wanted for murder." Stiles scoffed as they moved to the next game.
"You were exonerated."
Derek's eyebrows did the talking before he did. "You think he's gonna focus on that first?" The Alpha looked at the screen to start shooting at the alien ships.
"Well, even if he does end up shooting at you.. it doesn't matter, right? You'll heal right away." Stiles was leading the game since his aim was better than Derek's. For all his flailing limbs, he had a pretty steady hand when it came to target practice.
"That's not the point." Derek huffed out as the game came to an end with Stiles beating him by hitting six targets more than him. "I don't want to meet my boyfriend's dad for the first time with a bulletproof vest. And regular bullets might not kill us, but they still hurt like a bitch." They moved to the Defender machine last since Stiles wanted to see if he was still as good at it.
"My Dad's a reasonable guy. I think I can convince him about us. I don't think he'll object once he realizes that I actually care about you." Derek couldn't fight the smile that took over his face at the younger man's words. "First, we have to ease him into the furry business. I'm getting tired of lying to him all the time anyway, and it's safer for him to be on the know. I'd really appreciate it if you could be there when I do tell him about all this." He paused in thought as his face scrunched up a little. "Well, maybe not the boyfriend thing right away, just the whole supernatural saga."
"Just tell me when." Stiles grinned at his date before whooping in joy at seeing the screen. He couldn't beat his old high score, but he beat Derek who just shook his head at the Spark's antics.
"I'm starving." Stiles declared as they moved towards the exit. Derek smiled at him fondly. "I know. I heard your stomach growl half an hour ago."
As they reached the car park, Stiles tugged on Derek's jacket sleeve before they could climb into the Camaro. "Thank you, Der. I had fun. It feels good to just not think about all the shitstorms we have to handle every day for just one night." He stepped closer and quickly pecked the Alpha's lips before moving to the passenger side.
"Night's not over yet, babe."
Stiles expected Derek to pull over at a restaurant or a diner. But the werewolf kept driving as the car moved past the busiest parts of the town. He decided not to worry about it as he trusted Derek completely. He was so comfortable in the Alpha's presence that he didn't even feel the need to turn on the radio to fill the silence.
"So I was thinking of trying out some protective spells. It might help prevent anymore surprise attacks. Is it okay if I test some of them at the loft?" Derek didn't even hesitate before answering, he wouldn't refuse the Spark anything.
"Sure. Whatever you need." The car took a left and after driving for a few minutes, Derek pulled over to the side. Stiles couldn't see anything once the headlights turned off. He got out of the car but didn't move since he was one hundred percent confident that he would end up falling over without much visibility.
Not wanting to include that particular experience on his first date, he waited for the werewolf with night vision to guide him. He heard the sound of the trunk closing. Soon he felt the familiar hand grab his smaller one and guide him towards their destination.
It took a while for his eyes to get adjusted when he realized that they were walking somewhere into the preserve. Stiles could see Derek was carrying something that looked like a box.
"Are we gonna bury someone out here?"
He heard the Alpha softly chuckle. All of Stiles' attention was on making sure his feet followed Derek in the dark. Even though the older man had a strong hold of his hand, but the Spark still had faith in his clumsiness to defy all odds.
"I think the answer to that question would've been yes if I was Peter." His tone was full of amusement as they slowed down a little.
"Please don't talk about that zombie creeper when we're out in the woods like this." Stiles felt Derek slowing down to a stop and followed suit. The Alpha put the box down and started pulling stuff out. Stiles could see that they were at a clearing somewhere in the preserve. The moonlight helped with the visibility since the trees weren't blocking so much of it now. He also heard moving water nearby and looked around to notice something glistening in the moonlight.
Stiles couldn't tell for sure whether it was a lake or a river because of the distance. Suddenly his surroundings became much more visible as a soft, pleasant light engulfed everything. He looked down to see Derek had spread out a large blanket in the middle.
A little mushroom-shaped lamp was put in the middle, which was giving out enough light for him to actually appreciate the beauty that was his boyfriend bent over what looked like a large picnic basket.
Not exactly a candlelit dinner, but Stiles could already tell that it would be nothing less. Also, a candle was not the best idea in the middle of the woods, especially for someone like Derek who would probably love nothing more than to avoid open flames for the rest of his life.
"Are those from Larry's?" Stiles exclaimed at seeing the takeout bag from his favorite diner.
"Yep. I got your favorite."
"Curly fries!" Stiles almost shouted before plopping down on the blanket and grabbing the takeout bag to show his fries the respect they deserve. "I could kiss you right now, you know?"
"Yeah? What's stopping you?" The Alpha sat right next to him with his shoulder brushing Stiles'. He looked into the beautiful whiskey-brown eyes that were sparkling with joy. Derek had a lazy smile on his lips as he stared at Stiles' mouth. The Spark rolled his eyes half-heartedly before leaning forward to capture the Alpha's lips.
Stiles could feel Derek grin against the kiss. He felt one of Derek's hands cupping his left cheek as their lips brushed against each other languidly. A loud growl sounded that caused the both of them to break the kiss. Stiles looked sheepish as his stomach let out another growl to which the Alpha just chuckled.
"I think we should hold out on the dessert for now," he winked at Stiles. "The tummy monster demands to be fed." He turned around to grab some containers as Stiles continued devouring his fries.
"Tummy monster?" Stiles asked with a frown. Derek nodded in response.
"Yeah, that's what Cora used to say as a kid every time her stomach growled." Stiles burst out laughing, tears springing to his eyes.
"Oh my god! That's too freaking cute!" Derek laughed along with him as he started telling Stiles some more antics of the Hale children. Stiles did share some of his curly fries with him as they talked, even though he almost bit off Scott's fingers once when he tried to steal fries off Stiles' plate.
Derek opened the containers and handed one of them to Stiles. The smell of smoked ham made the Spark's mouth water as he took out a smoked ham and cheese sandwich. It was still a little warm as he bit into the bread.
"This is great. Where'd you get it from?" His words were almost unintelligible as he asked with his mouth half full. Derek showed more manners despite being the literal wolf; he swallowed his sandwich before answering.
"I made it, actually."
"Seriously?" Stiles stared at him wide-eyed. The Alpha nodded his head. Stiles could see the tips of his ears turning red as he refused to meet his eyes.
This blushing Sourwolf would be the death of me!
"I usually don't let anyone mess around in my kitchen. But after eating this, you might get a pass." Stiles nudged Derek with his shoulder as he savored the perfect blend of ham, cheese and sauce.
"You honor me, dear."
They continued eating and talking about their childhood. Stiles almost felt bad for not having a sibling growing up as he saw the elated face of his boyfriend talking about his chaotic childhood.
But he did have Scott who was more like a brother than a best friend. And the two of them caused enough trouble to keep their parents on the edge despite Scott suffering from asthma since he was five.
After they were done eating, the two of them cleaned up together.
"Dessert," Derek said as he took out two packets of Reese's from the basket and handed them both to Stiles. The Spark took the packets from the Alpha as a mischievous smile took over his lips.
"I thought we were supposed to have something else for dessert." He wiggled his eyebrows with a ridiculous smile. Derek rolled his eyes before grabbing Stiles by his waist and pulling him over his lap in one swift move.
"Suit yourself."
Derek crashed their lips together as his hands spread over Stiles' back. The Spark grabbed the back of his Alpha's neck with one hand as the other buried in his black hair. The Reese's packets lay forgotten on the picnic blanket.
The kiss became more intense as Derek adjusted Stiles on his lap. Stiles gasped loudly as he felt their clothed erections pressing together. Derek kissed down his jaw and moved to his neck, his beard causing a delicious burn over the sensitive skin of the younger man. Derek moved his hand under Stiles' sweater to feel his skin. Stiles feared the integrity of his sweater as he felt Derek constantly tugging at the offending material.
He gently pushed the Alpha and grabbed his sweater to pull it over his head. He could hear the heavy breathing of his boyfriend below him and saw his eyes briefly flashing red. Stiles quickly pulled off the white t-shirt he was wearing underneath since he didn't want Derek to tear it off.
The Spark felt a shiver run over his body as his bare body suddenly felt the open wind of the preserve. But it quickly went away as he felt a literal furnace in the form of the Alpha engulfing him with his muscular arms.
Stiles pushed at Derek's shoulders to take off his blazer. Derek barely paid any mind as he was busy marking up the Spark's shoulders and chest with marks from his blunt teeth. They both groaned as their hips brushed against each other with intent. Derek stopped for a moment to stare at Stiles' eyes. The other man held nothing but want and desire in his gaze. Derek wrapped his arms around Stiles' back and gently removed him from his lap to lower him to the picnic blanket, never breaking eye contact.
He felt around inside the basket with one hand to bring out an extra blanket. Derek unfolded it to drape over their bodies so Stiles wouldn't feel the cold as much. Stiles lay on the blanket looking at the man who was slowly but surely taking over his heart. The soft glow from the small lamp bounced off of Derek's chest as he took off his white V-neck. Still holding eye contact, Derek reached down to unbuckle his jeans. He pushed them down along with his boxers and put them aside.
Stiles was still looking at his face as the Alpha sat over him in his naked glory. Derek leaned over him and unbuttoned his pants. Stiles sat up a little to help Derek pull off his pants and boxers. His erection sprang free as it lost all the barriers. Stiles couldn't stop the little shudder as the cold night wind brushed his naked body. Derek quickly covered the Spark's body with his own and covered them both with the blanket. Stiles couldn't stop the loud moan as he felt their erections brushing against each other, skin to skin.
Derek swallowed his moan as he devoured Stiles' mouth while his large hand fumbled to hold both of their members. Derek rubbed the precome on Stiles' dick with his thumb and grabbed both of them to stroke together. Stiles felt his hips start to stutter as he felt their skin rubbing against each other with Derek's hand taking them over the edge. He broke their kiss to loudly moan into the open clearing. His arms went around Derek's shoulders to grip his shoulder blades. Derek buried his face in Stiles' neck as he felt Stiles come in his hand, his scent intoxicating the Alpha who felt his own come spreading over their lower bodies.
Derek laid still on top of Stiles, careful not to crush him with his weight. They were both breathing heavily as their bodies came down from the heights of pleasure. Derek pulled his face away from Stiles' neck to slowly kiss the Spark, their lips caressing each other without any rush. Derek moved up a little to stare at the beautiful face of the Spark laying below him, his gaze full of unashamed adoration.
Stiles brushed the hair away from Derek's face which was matted with sweat against his forehead. He smiled before pushing his head upwards to peck Derek's lips. Derek smiled back before moving around and laying beside Stiles.
Stiles grabbed Derek's arm to bring it under his head and use it as a pillow. The Alpha didn't complain at all, holding the Spark's shoulder to bring his body closer. The moon shone brightly into the night sky, countless stars scattered all around it. They laid side by side with a blanket over them, staring at the stars.
"As far as first dates go, I'd say this deserves a spot at the top five list." Stiles said staring at the sky as he felt Derek slightly shake from laughter.
"If my timing is right, I'd say it's about to get better." Derek said with a smug voice. Stiles looked at him curiously but the Alpha gave away nothing in his expression. Stiles looked at the sky again and started thinking of possible scenarios of what could make this night any better.
He didn't have to wait long as he noticed a shooting star after a few minutes. He softly gasped as he saw another one. Derek moved a little to reach the small lamp and turn it off so they could see the stars better. Soon, the sky came alive as hundreds of shooting stars danced all over.
"Shit! I totally forgot there was a meteor shower tonight!" Stiles exclaimed as his eyes widened at the wonders of the space. Derek chuckled beside him before he kissed Stiles' temple.
"I just thought you deserved the best view," Derek shrugged as they soaked in the beauty of the shower.
What the Alpha wanted to say was, you deserve the best and I'll do everything I can to give it to you.
Whew! That was… a lot!
I had a hard time writing this since I kept changing the events of their dates until finally sticking to this. Hope you guys enjoyed it.
Also, this was my first time writing such sexy stuff, hope it was okay.
Do let me know your thoughts.
Until next time!
