Having just taken seveal Air Nomade children Sozin sits on his throne thinking. He had the children and an adult who can teach them air bending, but he would need the other benders which might be a problem. Sozin sighs "I suppose I will have to play the diplomate."
Sozin calls a meeting again and his advisor have already been creating some ideas for how to get the other nations on their side.
"Fire Lord Sozin I have been thinking that our next group to recruit should be one of the water triebs. It will not be as simple as the last mission, and while it might lose us some territory I suggest we offer to give back the holy sight we took from them. It would be a show of good will." He explains
"Which tribe?" one of the generals asks
"The southern tribe as it's technically closer" the advisor says.
Sozin nods "Okay. We will offer them back their sacred land, and open up trade between us and them. I will discuss the rest with the tribal chief" He says
"Oh you wish to handle the discussion personally?" The advisor asks "That should be fine, but I do recommend taking someone a bit more diplomatic"
Sozin stands up and glares at the advisor "The only reason I do not kill you is because your advice has been sound so far, but if you should fail me it will be your last mistake" He warns
"Forgive me sir" he bows to him
"We leave in a week" he says "prepare"
The week passes, and several ships get ready to leave the Fire Nation docks.
Sozin stands aboard one of the ships and looks out at the ocean. Unfortunately his trusted Dragon had passed a while ago, otherwise Sozin would be using him.
"Is everything alright Lord Sozin?" the captain of the ship asks
"I am fine. It has just been a while since I've been on a ship. I must learn to readjust" he says
"Of course" he says. The ship gets ready and soon they are off to the Southern Water Tribe.
When they arrive they are met by a group of warriors.
Sevral fire nation soldiers get ready to fight, but Sozin holds up his hand "Stand down" he tells his men
"At ease" The Chief says to the warriors. He looks at Sozin "What do you want?" he aks
"Peace. I am ending the war and I'm willing to return captured territory" Sozin explains
The Chief was understandably skeptical "Why should I believe you? How can I know that this isn't some sort of trick?" he asks
Sozin smiles "A fair question. What would it take to convince you?" he asks
The Chief thinks for moment "Send your men back to your ship. As a show of good faith I'll also send my guards on their way. We can talk one on one a show of good will"
Sozin looks at his men "Head back to the ship now, and no arguments" he glairs at them.
The soliders dutiful head back to the ship not willing to risk upsetting their leader.
"Go on patrol I'll have him with me in a hut" The Chief says
"A hut? No palace? I'm a bit offended" Sozin jokes
"Normally I wouldn't be so rude to a guest, but I hope you can understand the situation" The Chief says.
"Of course. Showing your home to someone who had been your enemy for so long would be foolish" Sozin nods knowing this
"Return the territory like you promised, set up a trade negotiation with us that benefits the southern tribe, and we will have an alliance" the chief says
"I would also like some assistance from a few of your waterbenders if that isn't a problem" Sozin replies
"With what?" the cheif asks skeptically
"The airnomads have a child who is the avatar. I was hoping as a show of trust we could have a waterbender present for when he or she is old enough. I understand if you are hesitant, so I'll let you supervise all training when that day comes"
"Alright we have a deal"
Sozin sighs after returning to his ship "that went better than I thought it would" he honestly admits.
