Eclipse woke up groggily to extreme pain and discomfort. She struggled to move her body, as every slight movement caused pain. She looked down at where the pain was coming from, to see that her legs were broken, and her body was bleeding from her head to her torso. She couldn't even speak, as the pain kept her from saying anything. She could only gasp and breathe heavily, trying her best to fight the pain she was feeling.
No...
Not like this...
Not here...
Not now...
Eclipse kept repeating those thoughts in her head, but it was no use, the more she fought, the more blood she lost, and the more pain she felt. She had no choice but to accept what was happening; she was dying.
She began to cry, tears falling out of both of her eyes, beginning to understand the painful realization that this was truly it, she would never be able to have a better life, even if she wanted to.
She hated herself for it, for the fact she even believed that she could live a better life. And by herself, too! It seemed like she could never be happy, and now, she never would be.
"I'm so pathetic..." Eclipse said, before passing out, never to awaken again.
Darkness, pitch-black to be exact. No sounds, not even a hint of wind or anything. She couldn't feel, she couldn't see, she felt...empty.
Then, she was suddenly blinded by a flashing white light, which filled the black void up entirely, changing it to more of an white space.
She opened her eyes, realizing she could still feel her body.
What...? She thought to herself, than got up, startled by the fact she could think again.
"I-I'm alive...? But how...?" Eclipse said to herself, confused.
She then looked around where she was, and saw nothing but white, empty space.
"Hello...?" Eclipse asked aloud, only to be answered with the same question, echoing over, and over again, until it disappeared.
There's gotta be a way out of here somehow...
...Right...?
Perhaps I could be of some assistance. A male sounding voice said, seemingly out of nowhere.
Eclipse jumped upon hearing the deep, masculine voice behind her, and frantically looked around, before seeing the being that was in front of her.
It was a white equine-like being resembling a qilin or centaur with a gray, vertically-striated underside. The striated pattern had similar recurrences on the underside of its mane, tail, and face. Its four pointed feet were tipped with gold hooves.
"It is nice to meet you, little one." The equine-like being said.
Eclipse was still slightly panicked, sweating profusely. To be fair, the being was unrealistically tall itself, anyone would be intimidated by it's presence.
"There's no need to be afraid of me, I won't hurt you."
Eclipse hesitated for a few seconds, but eventually decided that the being wasn't any harm. She took a deep breath, calming herself.
"W-Who are you?" Eclipse asked, still a bit panicked, but way calmer.
You may call me Arceus. I am the god of everything in existence.
"Wait, seriously...?" Eclipse asked, not wanting to believe what the equine figure said.
I can sense your doubt, I promise you this is no lie.
Eclipse hesitated a bit longer, before deciding to ask the figure a question. "What's my name?" She asked.
The figure stared at her for a few seconds, and answered.
Your name is Eclipse Amaris. You were born and given to an orphan shelter upon birth. You were bullied and humiliated your entire life by both your classmates and family. You died after falling off a cliff trying to outrun a man who was trying to catch you for his dirty needs. Did I get that all correct?
Eclipse stood motionless, mouth slightly agape. Then she sighed. "Yeah, you nailed it all on the coffin." She said in a defeated tone. It still had hurt her that she had such a terrible life, and even more that it ended so quickly. It was just one bad thing after another. And now, what would she be able to do? It just...sucked.
Now, she's talking to what she can only now believe to be God itself. She was still slightly nervous standing in front of him, since she now knew what he was, and also still confused. Why was she here? And why is it talking to her? Shouldn't a god like him be attending more important matters than her?
"Okay, why am I here?" Eclipse asked skeptically; At this point, she had known something was up.
The figure's eyes had opened, but then it sighed, and looked at Eclipse with a more serious expression.
Straight to the point, huh?
Eclipse nodded silently. Arceus sighed once again.
I suppose there's no beating around the bush, then. Eclipse, I want to...reincarnate you.
Eclipse blinked a few times, did he say what she thought he said? She then jumped in realization.
"Y-You want to what?!" Eclipse screamed out in a frantic panic.
Yes, I am giving you the choice to live a new life, but it isn't in your world.
Eclipse's surprised and secretly happy facial expression immediately dropped. If she wasn't going to be reincarnated into the same world, why would she want to be alive again?
"What do you mean by that?" Eclipse asked.
It goes against the rules of life itself that one should be able to live another life in the same universe after dying, let alone have another life at all. I rarely ever give an opportunity like this because of said reason.
Eclipse stared at the floor, seemingly lost in thought.
...However. Then being said, which got Eclipse's attention again.
The life you lived was unfair to you. You were abandoned by parents, abused by your orphan family, and then died to something that was out of your control. This is why I'm giving you a chance at second life. So, what is your choice?
Eclipse thought to herself for a moment, would it be worth living again, in a world she would likely not be familiar with at all? It would be nice, but would it be worth the possible risks?
Then she thought of her family, and grimaced. They never cared for her, rather, they treated her like she was an object, and then she died running from a rapist. She didn't really get to "live life" that much, given how it ended.
Her mind was made up, it was time to give life another shot, even if there were risks, if it meant being able to start over, they were worth taking.
"Okay, I'll do it." Eclipse said. "Anything to live again."
Arceus let out a seemingly long, and heavy sigh. Was he scared of what her answer would be?
Good, good... Arceus said, completely relieved. She will be happy to hear you accepted the offer.
"She"? Did I hear that correctly? Eclipse thought to herself, realizing what Arceus said. Who was this "she" he was referring to?
You'll find out soon enough, my grandchild. Arceus said, which startled Eclipse.
"G-Grandchild?!" Eclipse said with a shocked expression. Now she was really confused.
Ah, I did forget to tell you that. Arceus said in a tone that sounded a bit too relaxed.
"O-Okay, what's happening here?!" Eclipse exclaimed. "First you say you're god, then you offer me to live again, and now I'm your grandchild?!" She continued, slightly angry, but still mostly confused.
Arceus stared for a bit, but simply sighed after, knowing Eclipse would react like this. He than bowed his head towards Eclipse's level, which silenced her, and then began to speak.
I understand this is...confusing. In time, you will have to understand on your own, I cannot explain to you, as it could lead to a few problems.
Eclipse thought of an array of issues that could happen, but pushed them all to the back of her head.
Why was she even questioning this? She was getting another chance at life! The least she could do was be grateful, he was an god, after all.
"Okay, sorry for pressing you on this, it's just a lot to take in..." Eclipse said apologetically.
Arches chuckled a bit. You were only asking a few questions, you had all the right to.
Eclipse smiled a bit, maybe it wouldn't be so bad having a god as her Grandfather. Maybe.
Are you ready? Arceus asked, snapping Eclipse out of his thoughts.
"Y-Yeah, ready." Eclipse replied, a bit nervous as to what her new life will be like.
She than felt drowsy, and looked her body in panic, she was fading.
It seems like your time has come. I will be watching over you.
Eclipse tried to say something, but her voice felt like as if she was muted. She felt tired, but warm.
Succumbing to the extreme drowsiness she was feeling, Eclipse closed her eyes, and fell into a deep sleep.
And that's chapter three! I'll admit I got a bit lazy making this, but I'll try to make it up by finishing the fourth one as soon as possible. Until then!
