Forever by your side

Hey guys! So, this is the second chapter of the story. I hope you enjoy it so far. This story is gonna be short, I guess about 3 or 4 chapters and maybe an epilogue. By the way, ideas for the plot of the story are welcome! I have a plan in my mind, but I believe that an addition from you will make it more fun and enjoyable. Anyway, hope you like it. Chapter 2:

Monica and Ross were at the hospital. They were sitting in the waiting room, both worried and upset. Neither of them was talking. Ross had his face buried in his hands and he was shaking a bit. Monica was staring at nothing in particular, her skin pale and a very sad expression in her eyes.

"Where is the doctor? Why isn't he coming? We've got to see him, we've gotta now how she is… I'm gonna go talk to him", Ross said, as he was standing up.

"No, Ross… Please, stay calm! He'll come when he has news. Please, Ross, try to relax".

"Relax? How can I possibly do that, Mon? I go home and I find Rachel lying on the floor, I don't know how it happened, I don't know if she's in danger, if the baby's in danger, if someone harmed her… I…I don't know anything! Because I left her alone and, even though I knew she needed someone to be with her, I chose to left. I am so irresponsible… and if… something happens to her, it's my fault!"

"Don't… don't be so harsh with yourself…"

That moment, the door slammed open and three people rushed into the hospital.

"Where is she?" Joey asked as him, Chandler and Phoebe where practically running to reach Monica and Ross. Ross stayed in the same position, face buried in his hands. Monica immediately got up and threw herself in Chandler's arms.

"I'm scared", she said quietly, as he was rubbing her back tenderly.

"Shh…It's okay, honey… She's gonna be okay, you'll see", he said and kissed the top of her head.

Hearing his comforting words, she finally broke down. She sobbed quietly against his shoulder.

"It was terrible… Chandler, she looked so fragile, so…so vulnerable"

"I know, I know, sweetie. You were so strong today"

She smiled against his chest and she left go of the hug. Chandler wrapped an arm around her and headed to the rest of the gang. Phoebe and Joey were trying to comfort Ross with no success. They all kept looking at the door where the doctor was supposed to come out of. Monica and Chandler sat next to them.

"Why isn't the doctor coming?", said Monica.

"It's okay, he'll come soon", said Phoebe.

"But we've gotta know how she is!" said Joey.

Phoebe got up. "I'm gonna go get some coffee. It's gonna be a long day"

"I'll come with you", said Joey and he followed her.

All this time, Ross didn't pay attention to anything his friends had said. He had started to have a strange feeling. He felt empty. Empty inside. He couldn't even think how life would be if something happened to Rachel.

Monica and Chandler sat beside Ross.

"Ross, honey, I know how hard it is for you, but you have to be strong!", said Monica.

"Yeah, man, you have to. For her"

He was trying really hard, but his thoughts and his guiltiness just couldn't let him. He wanted to talk to his friends about it, but he wasn't sure if they would understand. Of course they were scared too, but Rachel didn't mean to them as much as she meant for him. Of course she was everyone's best friend, but to him, she meant the world. She always had a special place in his heart and no one could ever take it away from her. It belonged to her.

He was grateful that Monica was with him in his apartment. Honestly, if he was all alone that moment he didn't know how would have he reacted.

"Thank you, Mon"

"For what?", she said a little confused.

"For being so cool, when we found Rachel, for immediately calling the ambulance. I really don't know what I could have done if I was by myself"

Then he hugged her. Monica wanted to answer but she felt a lump in her throat. Chandler was watching them silently and he was rubbing Monica's back.

Joey and Phoebe returned.

"Any news from the doctor?" asked Joey.

"No", said Chandler.

"Why no one's coming? Did they forget us?" said Phoebe.

"I hope not", said Monica.

"Maybe they didn't…", Ross said and they all turned to face him. "Maybe they just don't wanna tell us bad news"

"No, Ross, don't think that way. I'm sure they'll come any minute by now", said Monica.

As the minutes passed, the atmosphere was becoming heavier and heavier. It felt that nobody was their old self anymore. Chandler didn't make any inappropriate jokes, Phoebe neither tried to clean the aura nor cheered them up. None of them were talking. They all stared at nothing in particular, as their angst and agony were growing more and more.

Suddenly, a door opened and a doctor came to them. They all immediately stood up.

"What happened, doctor? Where is she? Is she in danger? Is the baby in danger?" Ross was started to panic. The doctor just looked at him and then everybody else. They were all staring at him waiting to hear what he was about to say.

"Please, tell us", Ross continued.

"I assume you are friends of Rachel Green? And you…", he looked at Ross, "…are the father?"

"Yes"

"Well… Rachel Green suffered from internal bleeding in the abdomen. Normally, we manage to face it. However, it seems that the time between the incident and her hospitalization was too long. If she was taken to the hospital right away, she may was alright by now"

"Well, what does this mean now?" Joey asked. The doctor looked serious as he was speaking.

"It's too soon to tell. We try our best. But we are not 100% sure that she and the baby will be able to make it"

I don't know for sure if the internal bleeding is like that. I just did it that way for the plot of the story. Let me know what you guys think so far.
