Everest panics as she reads the note.
She thought she had it well hidden.
Well obviously you didn't, Eve! Good job on getting that threatening note!
Everest sighed.
I thought I put all that behind me. Why do they want to remind me of my awful past. I have a good owner now. Why is he like this? Everest wondered with slight fear in her expression.
A sudden knock at the door brought her out of her fear driven panic.
"Everest?" A voice questions from outside the room. "Is everything okay? Your door is locked." Jake remarked.
"Can I come in?" Jake continued, the handle jiggling a bit.
"I got to hide it." She mumbled as she searched the room for a decent hiding spot for the note.
She didn't want to get Jake involved in all this nasty stuff she found herself obsessing over.
That was then. I'm with Jake now. I should feel pretty safe. She tried to convince herself.
"Sure!" Everest nervously responded, stuffing the paper under a book shelf before placing a book in front of it.
She sighed in frustration.
That wasn't a very good hiding spot, but it would have to do for now.
Everest trotted over to the door, unlocking it.
Jake came in.
"Everest...?" Jake wondered.
"What's up Jake?" Everest wondered with a wavering smile.
"I was—" he began before stopping, looking down at the husky with worry.
"What's going on?" He asked her.
She shook her head furiously.
"N-Nothing Jake. I was just reading a letter. I didn't want to be bothered. Sorry I locked the door." Everest apologized.
She lowered her head.
Jake continues to look at her with a look of concern before chuckling, ruffling the top of her head.
"It's not a problem at all, Everest. You deserve to have privacy. Though I do have a question." Jake responded.
He took his hand off of the husky, but still smiled at her warmly.
Everest internally panicked.
"What is it, Jake?" She asked in her most innocent voice ever.
She knew she had a way of looking and sounding cute when she talked. Maybe Jake would be fooled by it.
"I was just wondering if you would like to hang out with Ryder and the dudes from the Paw Patrol. It's been a bit since you've seen them." Jake offered.
It's because they haven't had any snow missions for me to go on.
Everest smiled as she remembered the Paw Patrol.
At least they wouldn't send her such a note as this because they were petty. They were nice. Unlike her old owner.
And each of them had their own role like Everest.
Chase with his serious police role. He took it way too seriously, and could sometimes try to take on that persona as his own personality sometimes, but he was a good pup.
Then there was Skye, her best friend. She was the most fun out of every pup there. While she took missions seriously, she also treated the other members with respect and niceness.
Then there was Rubble, the food loving pup of the squad. He was the construction pup and built a lot of cool things.
Everest loved how they shared things in common, yet were also so different at the same time.
Of course there was also the water rescue pup, Zuma. He was useful in water related mission like she was to their snow and mountain related missions.
There was also her male best friend in the Paw Patrol, Marshall. They got along well.
Marshall was the fire rescue pup. He had canons he could use to put out fires and could rescue a person or animal anywhere at any time. He was also clumsy, which Everest thought was cute.
There was also Tuck and Ella.
Everest didn't actually know much about them.
They were nice, though. They were also twins and sometimes could speak the same thing at the same time which Everest thought was interesting. They also had big and small powers respective to Ella being the bigger sister and Tuck being the younger brother.
There was also Tracker. He was really nice...
And really innocent. He's never seen snow before we showed him, and he never snowboarded before we showed him.
Tracker was one of those pups you could call a Mexican cinnamon roll.
He was also really innocent.
Most of the pups were really innocent like Tracker, which Everest liked, but they also knew a certain amount of things unlike Tracker.
Some of their experiences were new to Tracker.
He was also the youngest from what Everest was told.
Then there was Rex. Everest never formally met him, but she was told he was in a wheelchair, but was also a Dino whisperer.
Everest didn't know dinosaurs still existed.
The Paw Patrol also had gotten their first cat member of the Paw Patrol.
His name was Wildcat, and he was good at doing flips and liked motor bikes.
She was told he made a very good member of the Paw Patrol.
He did have paws.
Then lastly there was...
Him.
Rocky.
The engineer of the paw patrol. He was also very big on recycling, so if you needed to replace a wheel on a car or replace anything in general he was very good at finding a replacement.
He was big on helping the environment and liked trash.
He's pretty strange. Everest thought feeling her mouth curve into an even bigger smile.
She meant strange in a special way.
He was definitely unique.
Everyone in the Paw Patrol was unique at least for something, but Everest thought Rocky was the most interesting.
Who else would be a big fan in helping the environment? Most people care about it, but not everyone is willing to put in all their work into making it nicer like Rocky has.
Rocky has put project after project into making sure the beach was clean, the town was clean, even making sure all the folks in Adventure Bay knew how to recycle.
He was something else.
But that doesn't mean anything! Everest tried to convince herself.
She was still smiling when Jake waved a hand in front of her.
"Everest, dude, are you okay? You seem off today." Jake wondered, staring at her quite curiously.
Everest nodded.
"Of course, Jake! I was just thinking about the paw patrol! Of course I want to go to the Lookout!" Everest barked.
Jake chuckled.
"We're not going to the Lookout, Everest, Dude. We're going bowling. You still want to come with us?" Jake asked her.
His never ending smile on his face.
Everest nodded.
Bowling was fun.
"Of course, Jake! I like bowling!" Everest barked, her tail wagging.
I can't wait to see Skye and Rocky! She thought as she bounced in her steps.
Jake laughed. "Me too, Everest, Dude. Let's go!" Jake said.
"To my Snowcat!" Everest exclaims with a giggle.
The two walked out of the cabin together.
Everest felt her paws crunch on the snow, her paws dipping into the snow.
Jake took the lead, and Everest sighed.
How can I tell him, tell anyone that I had an owner before Jake? And that this owner was bad?
Everest tried to shake the thoughts she had out of her mind.
Her mind immediately traveled back to Rocky.
The way he brilliantly dealt with a problem.
The length of fur. It was fluffy!
He was sure a cute pup too.
Far cuter than Marshall.
She shook her head.
She should just stop thinking about everything altogether.
She needs to focus on beating the pups at bowling.
I'm not that good at bowling, but I'll show them my skills nonetheless.
Everest jumped in her vehicle with Jake in the passenger's seat. "Ready to go?" Jake asked her.
She nodded, biting her lip slightly as she put her paw to the lever, shifting it in drive. She pressed her paw slightly on the metal pedal on the ground, and they were off.
Everest focused on the road.
Surely I can't be falling for him. She thought distractedly.
She didn't want to crash, but she couldn't help but let her mind wander a bit before she focused more on the road than on her thoughts.
I hope not. I can't let myself fall for anyone. What I've done in the past is unacceptable and unworthy of love. I can accept friends, but that kind of love should be off limits for me. She convinced herself as she hit the gas.
They were off the snow and now on a legal road.
The Bowling Alley was right nearby Jake's Mountain.
She parked in the parking lot.
"Now we wait. Ryder and the pups should be here before we know it." Jake informed her.
Everest nodded.
It wasn't more than five minutes before the Paw Patroller rolled up, the window came down, and the pups came out single file while Robo Dog barked a greeting at them.
"Hi Robo Dog, dude!" Jake greeted with a wave as the robot dog came out of the Paw Patroller as well.
Skye and Marshall approached Everest with a trot. Well, for Marshall it was a skid.
He fell over, landing on his back.
He gazed at Everest with a happy expression, smiling while wagging his tail.
"Hi, Everest!" He greeted.
"Hi, Marshall." Everest giggled.
"Are you ready to go bowling?" Skye asked her as Marshall scrambled back up on his paws.
"Yeah! This will be fun!" Everest exclaimed as Skye and Marshall barked in agreement.
