(Chris is panicking as he watch Mariska groan and whimper in pain as she holds her stomach. The blood on the sheets are soaked and her thighs are covered in it. He reaches for her and finally gets her to come out of her deep sleep.)

Mariska: Stop it hurts.

Chris: Mariska come on baby wake up. Where's all this blood coming from?

Mariska: (disoriented) What?

Chris: Your covered in blood Mariska. Is your period always this heavy or?

(She tries to move away form him but the pain in her lower belly is unbearable. She's whimpering as tears falls down her face from the pain she's in.)

Mariska: I need my pain medication.

Chris: Where is it?

Mariska: Kitchen counter.

(He runs out to go grab her medicine as she moans in pain. He comes back with a bottle of water and kneels beside the bed.)

Chris: Here baby I need you to take these ok.

Mariska: (whimper) I don't feel so good.

Chris: I know but you need to take these so you can feel better.

Mariska: (looks pale) I need..

(She barely gets the words out before she gags and he jumps up moving her off the bed. She vomited up what little she had in her system before she went limp in his arms.)

Chris: Marsha?

Mariska: I'm sorry.

Chris: No it's ok, you're allowed to feel bad.

Mariska: I need to shower.

Chris: OK but first take these and I'll help you.

Mariska: (crying) I.. don't want you...to see me...like this.

(He holds her with all the vomit and blood as he kisses her head.)

Chris: I don't care about that. I just want to make you feel better any way I can ok.

Mariska: (nods) OK.

(She takes the pills from him and he helps her with the bottled water as she swallows them. She leans heavily on him as he speaks softly to her. He finally was able to get her up and into the bathroom. He turns on the shower before he helps her undress and he strips down to his boxers. He helps her in and comes up in front of her as she stands under the spray.)

Chris: That feels good?

Mariska: (sigh) Mmmhmm.

Chris: You scared the shit out of me Marsha.

Mariska: I'm sorry, there usually not this bad.

Chris: Are they always like this?

Mariska: Only if I've gone a long time without one.

(He uses her bath sponges to lather it with soap before he gently washes her body. She leans against the wall to allow him to get her back. Then he grabs her shampoo and massages her scalp as she holds on to him.)

Chris: Are the pills kicking in?

Mariska: This feels good.

Chris: So what causes...

Mariska: Later, I need to get out.

Chris: Why whats wrong?

Mariska: The pills make me woozy and I'd rather not fall in the shower.

Chris: OK, let me finish this and we will get out.

(He finishes washing her hair and turns off the water before he wraps her in a towel. Once out he finds her some clothes and drags her to the living room. She sits on the sofa as he pulls out her sofa bed and makes it up.)

Mariska: Chris you don't have to do all of this.

Chris: I want to.

Mariska: That's sweet, but I'm sure you have better things to do besides babysit me. I'm fine, I've been dealing with this for most of my life.

Chris: I'm here because I want to be here and I love taking care of you when you need it. Now if you don't want me here I'll understand and I will leave.

(He finishes the soda bed and heads for his things to give her space.)

Mariska: Chris?

Chris: It's ok, I overstepped and I'm sorry.

Mariska: Don't leave.

Chris: What?

(He watches as she gets up with a pained expression before she makes her way over to him. She stands in front of him and wraps her arms around him.)

Mariska: I don't want you to leave.

Chris: I don't want to make you uncomfortable.

Mariska: You just saw me at my worst.

Chris: Come on, why don't you go lay down I have something I got for you.

Mariska: What?

Chris: Go lay down.

(She does as he says and lies down while he digs through a bag he brought. He comes over with a heating pad and looks like some chocolate bars.)

Mariska: What are you doing?

Chris: I'm going to take care of you.

Mariska: You're going to spoil me.

Chris: I aim to please.

(He instructed her to take off her top so he could wrap the heating pad around her lower back and stomach.)

Mariska: Oh this is what I needed.

Chris: I brought some other stuff too but we can do that another time. Have you eaten anything today?

Mariska: I had some toast and eggs this morning but that was it.

Chris: Are you hungry now? I can whip up something right fast.

Mariska: No, can you just stay here while I fall asleep?

(She pulls him back towards the sofa bed and gets under the covers. He follows and wraps the heating pad back around her before he lays next to her. She's on her stomach as he runs his hand up and down her back soothing her pains.)

Chris: So does this happen all the time?

Mariska: I have PCOS, it's been almost a year since I've had a period so it came back with a vengeance. I was first diagnosed at fourteen, it messes with my periods and I have enlarged ovaries. My doctor said that it would be impossible for me to ever have children or even carry full-term.

Chris: Oh Mariska I'm so sorry.

Mariska: Hey it was one of the cards I've been dealt. I have learned to live with it and accept that I will never be able to have a family.

(Chris just lay there and listen to her talk and just be there for her when it gets too tough to talk about. After half an hour she started to drift off as he caressed her back and neck. Once she's asleep he places a tender kiss on her neck before he settles in and falls to sleep.)
