(It was a Saturday evening and she was going out with her family to celebrate her mother's birthday. Her dad rented a private area at Shelley's favorite restaurant for seven. She was finally about to meet her brother's wives and she was excited.)

Shelley: Mariska you never told me about Kenya.

Mariska: There is nothing to tell Mom. I had an amazing time while there and met some great people.

Shelley: What about this Chris guy?

Mike: Chris?

Mariska: He's no one Daddy. Just the doctor I was working under for the time I was there.

Shelley: She sounded like she was in love when I talked to her and she was shopping for a gift for him.

Mike: (makes a face) Whats his full name?

Mariska: Can we please drop this, please?

(Prayers have been answered She looks up and sees one of her brothers walking towards them.)

Shelley: Ohhh Dominik.

Dom: Hey mom, dad, (ruffs Mariska's hair) Mar.

Mariska: (hits his hand) Stop Dommy your me sing up my hair.

(He pulls a chair out for his wife as she sits down and goes to sit down himself.)

Dom: Sara I would like you to meet my baby sister Mariska, Mar this is my lovely wife Sara.

Mariska: Hi it's so good to finally meet you.

Sara: It's nice to meet you too.

Shelley: Wheres Paul?

Dom: He should be here in a few minutes.

Mike: That boy is never on time.

(They continue on with small talk until Paul finally shows up with his wife.)

Paul: Sorry we're late. I had to stop and pick up these beautiful flowers for Mom.

Mariska: Kiss ass.

Mike: Watch your mouth, young lady.

Dom: Mamas boy.

Paul: (fake pouts) Mom they're picking on me.

(His siblings bust out laughing as he helps his wife in her seat.)

Shelley: Leave him alone you two.

Paul: Mar Mar I want you to finally meet my beautiful wife Victoria.

Vicky: Hello Mariska I've heard so much about you.

Mariska: All good things I hope.

Paul: No but it's not bad.

Dom: So Mar when will we get to meet any of your friends?

Mariska: I don't have any friends Dommy.

Mike: Hey today is about your mother so can we leave any friends Mariska has out of this?

Shelley: I agree it's my day now where's my gifts?

Mariska: Here's mine.

Paul: No I'm going first.

Dom: Must you two act like children?

(Mariska sticks her tongue out at her brother before she hands her mother the gift and smiles when she opens it and sees what it is. The rest of the brunch was filled with laughs and storytelling. By the time they got back home, Mariska was ready to get in her bed and go to sleep. She's in the bathroom about to get in the shower when she notices blood in her panties.)

Mariska: Great, just great.

(She wipes herself before she steps under the hot spray of water and closes her eyes. Her mind drifts off to when she was in Kenya and the time she spent with Chris. Shaking her mind off the thought she washes herself before she gets out and heads to bed with just an oversized t-shirt and panties on.)

(Two months flew by fast and Marisks was back in the shake of this thing called her life. She hadn't heard from Chris so she figured maybe he was busy or he'd moved on. She was sad about it but she decided not to put all her focus on it.)

(She was at the hospital assisting a doctor with surgery when she started to feel lightheaded. She shook it off so she could focus on the task at hand while the doctor operated. She was so out of it that she didn't hear the doctor call her name until he touched her shoulder.)

Mariska: Huh?

Henry: I called you three times are you ok?

Mariska: Umm actually I'm not feeling good I think it's the food I ate earlier.

Henry: I got this why don't you go get some air?

Mariska: I'm fine now I can do this.

Henry: You're pale and look like death on your feet, go.

Mariska: Fine.

(She backs away upset and walks out the double doors snatching her mask off. All of a sudden her pulse is racing and spots blur her vision. She slows down to try and focus on her breathing but nothing is working. She leans against the wall as she feels her body going weaker as she tries to move. She can hear someone talking to her in a distance but is too weak to respond back.)

Erin: Hey Mariska your ok?

Mariska: I...I don't.

(And just like that everything went black and she dropped to the floor hitting her head. Erin screams as she runs up to her checking her pulse as other nurses and doctors come over. They check to make sure she's ok before they lift her on a gurney.)

Faith: Someone calls her mom.

Erin: On it.

(She runs off to call her next of kin as she's being rushed to an empty room to get checked out. They checked her vitals and took blood to be run in the lab. They hook her up the an IV to give her fluids because she's dehydrated and they are just trying to see what caused her to pass out.)

Faith: Put a rush on those lab results.

Tori: On it, I'll let them know it's urgent.

Faith: How hard did she hit her head?

Erin: Hard enough to cause a concussion. One minute I was trying to see what was wrong and the next thing she hit the floor.

Faith: OK, she's a little pale and her iron is low. Hopefully, once we get these fluids running through her she will wake up.

(They monitor Mariska while they wait for her blood work and other test to come back. As they wait her mother shows up frantic and scared out of her mind demanding to see her daughter. They finally got her to calm down and took her to the room where her daughter was.)
