(Shelley got a call from one of the nurses from where Mariska works. Wasting no time she grabs her keys and purse making her way to be by her daughter's side. She gets to the hospital and demands to know where her child is and is brought to her. She walks into the room and sees her baby resting against some pillows with an IV in her arm.)

Shelley: What happened? She was done this morning?

Faith: We are running tests now, but she's stable and I don't see anything else wrong other than her low iron and concussion. She was given fluids because she was dehydrated, but everything else was fine.

Shelley: Thank you, Doctor.

Faith: Of course. I going to leave you two alone while I go make my rounds.

Shelley: Go I'm here now.

Faith: Hit the nursing button if you need anything.

Shelley: I will.

(She leaves as Shelley takes a seat next to her daughter taking her hand and caressing it. She sits there and waits impatiently until her cell rings seeing its her husband calling.)

Shelley: Hey.

Mike: What they say?

Shelley: Nothing just that her iron was low and dehydration. They are running tests to see if she has any underlying conditions. Mike how did this happen she was fine this morning even all week.

Mike: She works too hard Shell.

(Mariska starts to stir when she hears a voice talking.)

Shelley: She's waking up Mike I'll call you back.

Mike: OK, keep me posted. I hate not being there when things like this happen.

Shelley: I know but she's going to be ok.

Mike: OK, talk to you later.

Shelley: OK, bye.

(She hangs up and grabs Mariska's hand squeezing it as she comes around.)

Mariska: Mom?

Shelley: Yes baby I'm here.

Mariska: What happened? Oh, my head.

Shelley: You passed out and now they are trying to figure out why.

(Mariska breathes deep before she sits up a little.)

Mariska: I'm thirsty.

Shelley: Here's some water.

(She hands her the cup and she takes a few sips.)

Mariska: I don't know what happened. One minute I was helping with surgery and the next I felt off and needed some air. I just felt lightheaded and nauseous after my lunch break.

Shelley: You need to take care of yourself, Mariska. They gave you one fluid but you're still a little pale.

(Just as she is about to ask her mother something else, the door opens and Faith comes back in. The look on her face makes Mariska's heart race and her palms sweat.)

Faith: So Mariska I have your labs back and I have some concerns.

Mariska: Oh god am I dying? Do I have cancer?

Faith: (smiles) No you are not dying or have cancer but I do have some questions. Now since you are an adult it's up to you if you would like your mother to be present.

(Shelley looks at her daughter as she thinks for a second.)

Mariska: It's fine she can stay.

Faith: OK, so during the blood work we noticed that you have PCOS.

Mariska: Yes, I was first diagnosed when I was fourteen years old.

Faith: When was your last menstrual cycle?

Mariska: Six weeks ago but it was very light. I only bled for a few hours and that was it why?

(She looks at Shelley before she looks back at Mariska.)

Faith: I don't think that was your cycle.

Mariska: (looks confused) Then what was it because I barely get them and then it comes either very light or very heavy.

Faith: Your HGC levels are elevated.

Shelley: Oh my god.

Mariska: (shocked) What no there's no way I'm pregnant. I think you should go back and run the tests again because that's impossible.

Faith: I've had it run three times Mariska.

Mariska: (gets loud) OK run it again because clearly someone made a mistake.

Shelley: Sweetie calm down ok?

Mariska: No Mom I'm not going to calm down because I'm not pregnant.

Shelley: Mariska tests don't lie honey.

Mariska: No.

(Mariska looks between her mother and the doctor as she thinks about when or how this happened. Well, she knew how and when but she couldn't wrap her mind around it. It all becomes too much and she just busts out crying as she thinks about school and the fact she's pregnant.)

Shelley: Can you give us a few minutes please?

Faith: Sure, just call when you're ready.

Shelley: Thank you.

(Once she leaves out Mariska looks to her mom in total disbelief.)

Mariska: (sobbing) Mom there's no way I can be pregnant. I was careful I promise I was careful. This can't be happening to me right now, I still have to finish school and...

Shelley: (grabs her arms) Mariska Hargitay pulls it together.

Mariska: I can't have a kid right now Mom.

Shelley: Look I know the world might seem like it has ended right now but it hasn't. I'm sure you weren't planning on this happening but it is and there's a baby growing inside of you. No this is not what we hoped for you right now but it is happening Mariska so what are you going to do?

Mariska: (sniffle) I came too far to have this happen right now, Mom.

Shelley: Then let that be your motivation.

Mariska: I can't have a baby right now. How am I going to?

Shelley: You just do you hear me, you just do. I had your brother at eighteen and your father and I got married a week later. I didn't go to college that following year but I went. Our parents weren't happy at all and we struggled more than I care to remember but we made it. No this is not what your father and I want for you right now but I promise we will be here to help you. You have something we didn't and that is parents who love you very much.

(Mariska's lip quivers as she takes in everything her mother is saying before she pulls her towards her and hugs her. She buries her face in her mother's neck and just lets her hold her as she calms down. Shelley pulls her daughter back some and places a kiss on her forehead and then her cheek.)

Mariska: I love you, Mommy.

Shelley: I love you too baby.

Mariska: Dad going to have a cow.

Shelley: Maybe but he loves you and going to spoil this baby rotten.

(Mariska sighs before she calls for Faith to come back in and discuss some things with her. She voiced her concerns about the baby's health since she has PCOS and what could be the outcome.)
