Ronald Weasley woke up with a parched throat. Blindly, he groped on his desk till he found the jug of water. He sat up, sighing, grudgingly opened his eyes so he could pour himself a glass of water.
Sleepily, he ignored the man standing in front of him holding a gun and poured himself a glass of water.
Holding a gun?
He dropped his glass and turned back towards the man as his brain kicked immediately into high gear. Standing on the far wall, trying to make himself as inconspicuous as possible, was Sirius Black.
Ron fumbled on the side desk for his gun. He brandished it towards Sirius Black, the gun loading itself by magic.
"Sirus Black!" he said loudly, trying not to show how scared he was, "drop your gun."
Sirius Black looked as if he was about to drop his gun, but then suddenly lunged towards Ron.
Instinctively, and panicking, Ron fired the gun at the maniac while simutaneously trying to get off the bed and falling off in the process.
The gun was silent, but when the bullet hit Sirius Black in the shoulder, he howled with pain.
There was a silence, and Ron was sure that the sound had definitely traveled to the common room, if not to the girls' dormitory as well. Sirius Black had froze, and Ron was trying to balance himself with one hand while pointing the gun at Sirius with the other and trying not to fall again.
Ron heard his dorm mates shift in their beds as they were jerked awake by the sound.
Harry looked at Ron and the gun in his hand.
"Ron!" he said, sounding panicked, "now's not the time to have a fight in the dorm. It's two in the morning! You scared me!"
"Harry..." Seamus said slowly in a small voice, sounding scared.
Harry turned, and standing right there was Sirius Black.
His parents' killer.
Harry picked up his gun (which magically loaded itself, like Ron's had) and leaped at Sirius Black, tackling him onto the floor. He placed his gun on his head. Now, he could knock him out, and hand him back to the ministry -
"HANDS UP!" came a sharp voice from their dorm entrance.
Harry hesitated for a moment.
"Hands up, everybody! Guns on the floor! That includes you, Harry!"
Harry dropped his gun and slowly raised his arms. He saw Sirius Black do the same thing. He slowly got off Sirius Black, whom he'd been sitting on top of.
"What is the meaning of this?" asked Lupin angrily, walking into the room. "Why am I entering to a full-scale battle in the -"
He caught sight of Sirius Black.
"Ah."
He walked over to him.
"Where is he, Sirius?"
Sirius Black pointed to Ron's bed.
Without warning, Lupin cast a charm at the bed and short, rat-like man erupted onto it.
"Why, hello, Peter," said Lupin mildly.
"What?" asked Harry, confused.
"Harry," Ron said in shock, "that's..."
"...Peter Pettigrew," Seamus breathed.
Before anyone could react, Sirius had grabbed his own gun and was pointing it at Peter, his arms shaking in fury.
"I WILL KILL YOU!" he shrieked at Peter, "I WILL DESTROY YOU! I WILL -"
"Now, what is happening here?" asked a familiar, calm voice.
It was Dumbledore. He entered the room, and saw his former student. "Ah, Mr. Pettigrew. Nice of you to join us today."
Lupin was holding Sirius back from charging at Peter.
"Mr. Black, please do calm down. While I'm sure you'd enjoy killing Mr. Pettigrew that is hardly possible at this time."
"LET ME AT HIM, DUMBLEDORE!" Sirius screamed, "LET ME DESTROY HIM!"
"And land yourself back in Azkaban? No, I don't think so, Mr. Black."
At the mention of Azkaban, Sirius flinched. He made an effort to calm himself down.
"What is of the utmost importance at this point is to get you a trial, Mr. Black. Once you have been cleared innocent, then we will see what can be done with..."
Everyone looked back at where Dumbledore was staring. Peter had disappeared.
Sirius looked furious. "LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" he screamed, looking quite unhinged, "HE - HE- JAMES -" he started shouting incoherently.
"Wait, what does my dad have to do with this?" asked Harry.
"Harry, it's a difficult story," Dumbledore said, sounding tired, "perhaps you should come with me to my office. Remus, bring Mr. Black with you once he's calmed down. We need to discuss his trial. Mr. Pettigrew's disappearance will make it more difficult, but I am confident we can still win."
A/N: Ok, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! The next chapter won't take 2+ weeks, I promise.
Also, I'm thinking of making a one-shot of Sirius' trial. What do you guys think?
Anyways, have a great day!
