The sorting:
"Victoire, come down, we are getting late." his father called from downstairs.
"Coming, Dad," she said, collecting books from the couch. "Sorry, I was having a last-minute glance to see if I packed everything." She said as she reached down.
"Ok lets go. We don't have much time."
her dad said.
Outside thier home, two cars along with drivers from the ministry were standing.
"Good morning Minister." one of the drivers said.
"Good morning." her father replied.
Her father and mother sat in the first car and she and her siblings in the second.
When they reached King's Cross, they quickly got off the car and started moving towards Platform 9 and three quarters. Victoire knew where the platform was as she had come with her sister and brother for the previous 7 years. Rosa was going to start her seventh year at Hogwarts, and Marcus his third year.
She stood in front of the barrier of platform 9 and three quarters.
"Ready, dear." his father said, "let's pass it together."
"Yes." she replied.
They ran together through the barrier.
There students were hugging and saying goodbyes. At some distance, she saw Walburga Black with Regulus. It seemed like she was lecturing Regulus on something, by Regulus's expression.
Rosa and Marcus came back after loading their trunks in the train.
"Come on now, say goodbye to your sugarcube , now." Marcus said. Rosa laughed.
"Shut up!" mum snapped.
Victoire was on the verge of tears but held them up. She didn't wanted to leave her parents.
" take care of yourself and remember to send us letters everyday." her mother said.
"Ok. Remember to write me back. Will you dad?" she asked.
"Yes everyday and will visit you too, if you want." her father said.
"No I don't thinks parents are allowed in school. But remember to write to me." she replied.
"Here comes Robert," his brother announced," over here, Robert."
Robert was her cousin. He came running towards them, followed by her aunt and uncle.
"Victoirrrre, mum brought a gift for you. It's a cat." Robert said in a loud tone.
"Ohhh Robert you," aunt said, angrily.
Her aunt was a very loving and funny witch. And her aunt and uncle were also her godparents.
"I already had a owl you didn't have to." she told them.
"Why?" her uncle said," you are the princess of our family and princesses deserve royal treatment."
"Yeah princess treatment." Marcus and Robert said in unison, making fun of her.
"Shut up you lot." her aunt said angrily.
She handed Victoire a basket in which there was a pretty white cat.
"What's her name?' she asked.
"You'll name it." her aunt said.
"Ummm then... I'll name it 'Izzy'." she said after quick thinking.
"Nice name." her mum said.
"Come on be quick in saying these "nasty goodbyes" otherwise we'll miss the train." Marcus said.
"Alright, Victoire take care of yourself. And remember I and your dad will miss you a lot." her mother said as she pulled her into a hug.
"Bye mum bye dad." she said hugging them both.
Her father helped her load her trunk on train. People starting staring them . Probably , surprised to see the Minister of Magic loading trunk in the train.
The train started moving and she said her last goodbye to her parents. She felt sad and excited at the same time.
"I have to go to the prefects carriage for meeting." she said. She was the headgirl , when she had got the badge, she shouted like crazy and started jumping like a maniac. Mum and Dad were so proud. Marcus groaned when she told him. And their grandmother gave her loads of gifts for that.
Rosa left and she started to find an empty compartment. She found one at the end of the train. Their was only two girls sitting in that compartment.
"Hi," she said, as she entered the compartment
"Hello," they replied and one of them stood up and helped her load her trunk. "Aww... she's so cute." one of the girls said, one hand pointing at the the basket in which she was carrying her cat and one on her cheeks.
"Her name's Izzy." she told her.
"Can I have it for a while." the girl asked.
"Yes." as she gave her the basket.
"By the way, I am Celine Jade." she said "and she is Isabelle, my cousin. We are both first years." she told her pointing towards the other girls. Both of them looked almost same had red hair and freckles.
"I am Victoire Everligh." she introduced herself, "I am a first year too."
"Your father is Minister Everligh." Isabelle asked.
She kept talking about their families and siblings. After some time the old lady with her trawley arrived and asked them if they wanted anything from the trawley. They bought lots of sweets and cauldron cakes. After she had gone, a boy arrived at the door of their compartment. It was Regulus Black.
"Hi, Regulus." she said.
"Hi, Victoire. Can I sit here?" he asked. He looked in bad mood.
"Yes," she replied.
"Thanks," he said as he sat besides her.
"How are you?" she asked, "you are in bad mood."
"Fine," he said "it's just my brother. He always pisses me off." he said disgustingly.
"My brother is like that too, he always tries to become a bit arrogant." she told him.
"Mine is arrogant. He is an idiot." he said.
"Duhhh... it seems you had had a fight with him. Have you?" she asked.
"Yes, a bit." he said.
"Did you read that book, I suggested?" she asked trying to lighten up his mood.
"No not yet." he said, still angry.
"Ohhh... C'mon don't be angry. It's your first day at school, be happy. Enjoy the day." she told him.
"In which house do you expect yourselves?" Celine asked. Trying to change the topic of discussion.
"My family is a whole bunch of Slytherins so I would be in that too. I think." She then said.
"Mine too." Victoire said.
"I will be okay in whichever I am put though." Isabelle said. She was quiet and shy and spoke only when needed unlike Celine who was a bit chatty.
"Regulus you?" she asked.
"Slytherin , I wish. Otherwise I would be treated like my elder brother." he said.
"Your brother is in Griffindor? Sirius Black." Celine asked.
"Yeah " he replied.
Luckily this conversation seemed to continue and Regulus's mood lifted a bit. They talked about books and thier homes and families in rest of the journey.
When they stopped at the station, Rosa came and stood near their compartment door, grinning.
"You ready," she asked, a wide grin at her face.
"Yes." she answered.
They went to Hogwarts in boats and when they reached their, a stern looking woman, which introduced herself as Professor McGonagall , deputy Headmaster and head of Griffindor House, greeted them and told them about houses. They went to the Great Hall and the sorting begin.
Professor McGonagall called the names and that student sat on the stool, sorting hat on their heads and got sorted. Regulus got sorted in Slytherin to his relief and luck. He smiled and went to sit at the Slytherin table. It was after a few students when her name was called.
" Everligh, Victoire" Professor McGonagall called.
She rushed and sat on the stool.
"Umm... an Everligh. Different. Different than others. Of course, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Your
whole family has been in Slytherin. Probably," it seemed to think," what would be best is GRIFFINDOR."
"What?" she said shocked and terrified as Professor McGonagall took off the hat from her head. She stood and looked at where Rosa was sitting, blank faced.
"But Professor, I can't. I can't." she blurted out.
"The sorting hat has made the decision, Ms. Everligh, try to accept it." Professor McGonagall replied.
She walked towards the Griffindor table, now looking at where Marcus and Robert were sitting, her feet numb. She sat at the Griffindor Table, her mind racing. "What would Grandmother do with me now?" she thought.
A red head girl, pressed her hand on hers trying to console her.
"Don't worry you are not the only Blood traitor here." a boy with dark messy hair and round glasses said, tilting her head towards Sirius Black. He was probably James Potter. She had met his Father, same as him.
"Don't... Potter!" the red head girl said.
"But Evans I am just trying to." he said angrily.
"Stop it James." a boy with scars on his face said, "Why are you so worried? Griffindor is not that bad." he said.
"No, but... but my Grandma." she just said.
"Just relax huh... everything will be alright. If Sirius can handle you can too." the boy said.
Sirius nodded looking gloomy. But that didn't console her , she was nothing like him.
"Just eat." the red head girl said, pushing a plate towards her.
She ate a bit and after the feast, Rosa and Marcus came.
Rosa patted her back, "Don't worry we'll handle it. I'll write to dad. " she said. Her grandmother will mess her life. She only liked Slytherin and would obviously disown her.
"Evans," Rosa called the red head girl, "will you take her to Dormitory?"
"Ok." she replied. She walked towards the dormitory and She followed her.
"Lily Evans," the girl introduced herself "and you, Victoire, If I am right."
"Yes," she replied.
"Don't worry, have a good sleep and then you can cope with your Grandma tomorrow." Lily said, her hand on her shoulder as she guided her to her room.
She nodded. Lily said goodnight and left.
She pulled the hangings of her bed and slept, ignoring all the chattering behind her. She would see it.
